kMSt ver. 1.2.435 – Final Hero: Luminous!
The newest patch in Tespia has released the final hero, Luminous! This is a mage class and has a new weapon called the Shining Rod! This patch changes certain things about MapleStory!

Portals have been changed!
All equipment’s secondary stat requirements has been removed, except for Empress equipment.
At certain levels, you will receive extra experience upon levelling up.
- Lv. 80, 90: 15% experience
- Lv. 81, 91: 15% experience
- Lv. 82, 92: 10% experience
- Lv. 83, 93: 10% experience
- Lv. 84, 94: 5% experience
- Lv. 85, 95: 5% experience
Except for Knights of Cygnus and Evan, all job’s third job advancements now occur at level 60 and all fourth job advancements occur at level 100. To account for this, many skills’ max levels have been adjusted. You can see them here.
Phantom skills were also changed a bit, I believe they got nerfed?
- Talent of Phantom Thief I/II/III/IV: there is now a 30 second cooldown in between changing skills
- Blanc Carte: damage has been decreased from 160% to 140%
- Coat of Arms: damage has been decreased from 225% to 200%
- Pray of Aria: damage boost has been decreased from 30% to 20%
- Tempest of Card: cooldown has been increased from 12 seconds to 18 seconds
- Ultimate Drive: damage has been decreased from 130% to 120%
- Twilight: damage has been decreased from 600% to 450%
- Noir Carte: damage has been decreased from 220% to 200%
Also, Captain skills received a small change.
- Rapid Fire: damage has been decreased from 330% to 300%
- Captain Dignity: explosion damage has been increased from 70% to 100%
The new hero job, Luminous has been added! Luminous’ first job advancement is at level 10, second at level 30, third at level 60, and fourth at level 100.
There are two default hair and eyes.
Luminous uses the Shining Rod and secondary weapon Orb.
It also has a really cool job advancement animation!
Luminous uses a dark/light skill system! When he uses too many light skills, his darkness takes over and increases the damage of his dark skills while decreasing the damage of his light skills. The opposite also happens (as seen in this picture, he’s used a lot of dark skills so the game is telling him to use light skills).
This means in order to do the most damage, you must keep switching between using light skills and dark skills, and you can’t spam one attack!

Beginner
Sunfire: Sunfire causes light based skills to do an extra 50% damage and heal 1% HP.
Eclipse: Eclipse causes dark based skills to do an extra 50% damage and use no MP.
Equilibrium: While in the Equilibrium state, for 7 seconds you gain 50% stance, all the damage that you take is reduced to 1, your cooldowns are ignored, all skills do 50% more damage, they cost 0 MP, and Light magic heals 1% of your HP. Equilibrium skills hit 100% of their damage.
Permeate: Light passes through enemies, ignoring 10% of their defense. (LINK SKILL)
Power of Light: Luminous has strong will and insight (instantly level 20) as well as intelligence (+20 INT), and is immune to the darkness state (decreased accuracy).
Light Blink: Track monsters using light and teleport to them, if in town you will teleport to a random place.
First Job
Twinkle Flash: [Light Skill] Arrows of light are quickly fired and penetrate up to 5 enemies for 280% damage. (max level: 20)
Lightransforming: Move a certain distance using light, then conceal yourself, choose the direction using your arrow keys. Passively increase your speed by 20% and jump by 10%. (max level: 10)
Ordinary Magic Guard: 85% of the damage you take will be taken out of your MP. (passive) (max level: 10)
Extend Mana: For 180 seconds, increase your maximum MP by 25%. (max level: 20)
Light Magic Enhancement: Your damage is increased by 5% when using light magic. (max level: 5)
Second Job
Sylphid Lancer: [Light Skill] A spear of light is summoned and does 115% damage 4 times to 6 enemies. (max level: 20)
Inviolability: [Light Skill] A pillar of light is summoned and pushes enemies to the side while stunning them. (max level: 10)
Void Pressure: [Dark Skill] The power of darkness is condensed and attacks 8 enemies for 168% damage as long as the skill key is held down. While holding down the skill key, you can move the orb left and right. (max level: 20)
Bless of Darkness:When you have not been attacked for 5 seconds, summon a dark orb (up to 3). When you take damage, an orb will absorb 70% of the damage and disappear. For each orb summoned, your magic attack will be increased. (1 orb – 50% of 30 magic attack, 2 orbs – 80% of 30 magic attack, 3 orbs – 100% of 30 magic attack) (max level: 20)
Magic Booster: For 180 seconds, the speed of your magic attacks is increased by 2 stages. (max level: 10)
Spell Mastery: Increase your magic mastery by 50% and your magic attack by 10. (max level: 10)
High Wisdom: Permanently increase your INT by 40. (max level: 5)
Third Job
Spectral Light: [Light Skill] Arrows of light are quickly shot at up to 8 enemies, dealing 121% damage 4 times as long as the skill key is held down. You can change the direction the arrows fire by pressing the left and right keys while holding down the skill key. (note: this skill can even shoot diagonally!) (max level: 20)
Shine Redemption: [Light Skill] The power of lights heal allies for 500% of their HP while attacking up to 6 enemies for 180% damage. (max level: 20)
Nox Spear: [Dark Skill] Chains of darkness will pierce up to 6 enemies, dealing 401% damage 2 times. (max level: (max level: 20)
Death Scythe: [Equilibrium] Gods of death are summoned to your left and right, then rush together to attack up to 10 enemies, dealing 330% damage 4 times. There is a cooldown of 10 seconds. (max level: 20)
Anti Magic Shell: You will be protected from three statuses. The cooldown of 300 seconds will begin once these three skills are used. Passively increase your elemental and status resistance by 40%. (max level: 10)
Light Shadow Guard: For 180 seconds, increase your weapon and magic defense by 300 and your chance to ignore damage taken by 20%. (max level: 10)
Photic Meditation: For 180 seconds, increase the magic attack of you and your party members by 40. (max level: 20)
Life Tidal: If your HP is higher than your MP, increase your damage by 20%. If your HP is lower than your MP, increase your critical chance by 40%. (max level: 20)
Fourth Job
Light Reflection: [Light Skill] A powerful light wave is released to hit up to 8 enemies for 375% damage 4 times. Enemies hit reflect the wave. (think Chain Lightning) (max level: 30)
Morning Starfall: [Dark Skill] A star of darkness is summoned to attack up to 8 enemies for 180% damage. The star pushes away your enemies then explodes to deal 370% damage. There is a cooldown of 5 seconds. (max level: 30)
Apocalypse: [Dark Skill] A large abyss of darkness opens and hits 8 enemies for 390% damage. (max level: 30)
Absolute Kill: [Equilibrium] Instantly kill up to two enemies. If this effect does not work on the enemy, inflict 333% damage 6 times with a 100% critical chance. There is a cooldown of 10 seconds. (max level: 30)
Dark Crescendo: For 180 seconds, when you attack you’ll have an 80% chance to increase your damage by 1%, up to 30 times. (max level: 30)
Darkness Sorcery: For a certain period of time, increase the amount of monster’s defense ignored and your critical chance by 30%. (max level: 30)
Magic Mastery: Increase your magic mastery to 70%, magic attack by 30, and minimum critical damage by 15%. (max level: 30)
Dark Light Mastery: Increase the duration time of Equilibrium’s buff by 5 seconds, the rate at which Sunfire and Eclipse states deplete is decreased. Passively increase the damage of Death Scythe by 50%. (max level: 5)
Maple Warrior: Increase the stats of all party members by 15% for 900 seconds. (max level: 30)
Hero’s Will: You are cured from the seduce state. There is a cooldown of 360 seconds. (max level: 5)

There still is a 6th hero guys. A pirate with an R name. He will probably have a backstory about how he used to fight with the heroes, but abandoned them before the final fight and fled with the other pirates as they sailed away.

Just want to show this at the top. I’m believing when this hero gets nerfed, it’s going to be nerfed even harder than Demon Slayer. I really like this class, but look at those “OMG OP” skills! Especially freaking Equilibrium and crazy 3rd job skill Nox Spear with others.
And I also predict this might be time limited as well. Who knows? Even though it’s an hero, it’s definitely the strongest one at the moment.

Jett is not special or unique – it’s just CMS’s Dragon Warrior, which is not special or unique either. They (Dragon Warrior and Jett) are just Corsair skills + a few Cannoneer skills + a few Bucc skills + Mercedes’s Glide Blast.
Reguardless, in KMS, you need to remember that it’s the mage’s “turn” so to speak. Demon, Merc, Cannon, Mik, and now Luminous. Reguardless, the lines between classes is blurry now anyway so does it really matter that much? 😐
not to mention in G/C/TMS it will (probably) be demon/merc/cannon, Jett, Mik, Lumin… If it was a pirate hero, that would be a little crazy

Just an FYI for the peeps that don’t know. The pirates didn’t exist back when the maple heroes fought the black Mage. They were created by the pirate lady in the present to fight the black mages rising forces. Just sayin.
I do apologize but you are wrong. Pirates came to Victoria Island to warn people of the second coming of the Black Mage. Also, Kyrin’s father was said to have fought the Black Mage. Ummm if you check ellin forest there is a lady developing a gun and has martial arts skills too so pirates was being developed in the past not present.

What you saw was the origins of the pirate class. There were very few pirates at the time, possibly ONLY tesotonen and his elf-wife were the first pirates. Quite possibly they didn’t even identify themselves or call themselves “pirates” because pirates as a faction/class did not exist back then.

Also, apparently her father was black or something, though she’s hecka white. But w/e….
His death is the reason why she started her band of pirates, and as to why her hatred for the black mage exists.

This is correct. The light/dark balance only starts at second job, and when his dark side is stronger, his orange eye begins to glow and his orb turns red/black. it’s sorta cool.

Yes, it is true that Testonen was not considered to actually be a pirate at the time he stood up to the Black Mage, but he also is a Pirate class. If he were to be unsealed today, then he would be a pirate.
Here’s a mystery for all of you:
According to EMS’ Pirate promotion, Kyrin apparently ‘found’ her father’s body – or have found proof – that she could be by his side anymore. The story mentioned something about El Nath, snow and ice, and its location being somewhere the Dead Mine, or in it.
Although El Nath is already covered in snow, consider the Black Mage’s seal.
On top of that, every other quest and dialogue has described Testonen to have “disappeared without a trace”. That cannot be a coincidence. Keep in mind that the Black Mage’s storyline didn’t start until Testonen’s story was revealed.

Mapler is GMS slang. I doubt it’s KMS slang.
Clearly, Evan is actually NOT one of the heroes and the pirate hero will take the ‘E’ Slot in the acronym when you consider the fact that Evan is the only of the current hero classes who is a successor of someone else and the fact that this mage hero has been introduced.
It wouldn’t surprise me.
Then tell nexon to change evan’s screen from hero to something else. Far as I’m concerned as long as nexon says evan is a hero class, then it’s a hero. So don’t think your pirate hero will be taking evan’s spot.

Evan is considered part of the “Hero” classes, and with job ID 22XX, so technically he is a Hero, but not one of the original heros who fought the Black Mage. (Freud was…)
Good point, but I’ll have to disagree with the E part. Would makes sense but it would clearly defeat the purpose of having Evan come out as the E name slotted hero class.
If Nexon has any care and loyalty to thier fans and thier product, I hope and pray they can create 5 more heros spelling out STORY.
That would be cool. And we still have yet the 4 Cygnus Captains Character classes, Thief Resistance, more Exclusive Characters from other versions, More 3rd/4th branches of Explorer classes, and ofcourse Pirate’s Hero character.
Just hope maybe from Nexon browse the internet and read this blog and others alike to get thier ideas from us. 🙂
People shot down his idea but you don’t have any solid proof that Nexon won’t go back and just change things. If you haven’t forgotten they have already done that once in a HUGE way. Ergoth was once the main villain in MapleStory. He was completely removed and a story for the black mage was created giving everyone else a different background story as well. It has been done before and can be done again. It wouldn’t even be nearly as difficult for Nexon to accomplish it this time either.
There doesn’t HAVE to be a pirate hero. So what if we have two mage heroes and no pirate hero? The pirates joined late. Maybe there weren’t any pirates in the time of the black mage?

Really? Cause when the ellin revamp came I always thought that pirates didn’t exist yet since the fairy was planning to go explore the entire world on an unamed ship with an unborn child. But I’m TOTALLY waaay off on that xP
nope Kyrin’s father was a guy that used absolutely no weapons he was a bare knuckle fighter. and she based the brawlers on her father. and the other fact is that Kyrin’s father fought the fources of the Black mage not the mage himself
If I recall correctly, that was not a canon fact in Korea, and I believe only was made that way in NA and Europe. In fact, perhaps the whole notion of “Testonen” was crafted by NA Nexon in order to help promote the Pirate class itself.
Max, I’ve a favor to ask of you – I think that “The Lost Letter” still exists in gMS even as of Chaos (dunno if it’ll get shot when Justice/Renegades lands). Could you verify whether or not kMS has that quest – and if they do, give me a rough translation of the dialogue?
I have a feeling Testonen is a fully-blown gMS/eMS invention, in which case the whole notion of Testonen being one of the five heroes is nothing but a made-up conspiracy theory.
If that’s the one where you learn the story of how Athena raised Kyrin as a child before she ran off, then yeah I think it’s still there.

no, they didn’t, though they placed a seal on the moment in time he was sealed so that noone loyal to him (such as arkarium, who is a master of time magic) could travel back to before that moment to prevent him from being sealed, by using up all their combined power, there is no evidence that the seal on the BLACK MAGE was created by Frued and Afrien alone, and with the release of this class, based on the concept of balancing light and darkness, shows evidence pointing towards the theory of this dude placing the seal on the black mage, to seal the immense darkness that disrupted the balance of light and darkness so much, especially due to the fact that the seal left the black mage in “a place beyond light” as that prophecy that fortold the events of the big bang patch as well as the fact that those trying to break the Black Mage’s seal are making a huge mistake, for if he is released a terror unlike any other will be unleashed on the maple world, as even before he was released he started beleiving that if the world would not accept him as ruler, then it must be destroyed, and the darkness within him, already immeasurable, has grown by an amount that is an equally immesurable number of times of the amount that was in him already, due to being trapped in a place beyond light, so it would make sense that the master of light AND DARKNESS would have created the actual seal, especially if he put a ton of the excess darkness caused by the black mage in the pocket dimension that was created to lock him in with the seal, so that the darkness would be balanced with the light, because there is a chance that he guards a secret that light and darkness must in balance, like yin and yang, or the universe will be destroyed, so, the darkness was so great it disrupted the balance soo much, that he needed to dispell some of the darkness right away to balance it quickly enough to avoid destroying the universe.

Equilibrium’s effect might give some kind of damage % for the skills that are both Light and Dark, and/or the skills that have both elements get a higher % or a bonus effect or something!

Testonen was nothing but a promo character to help advertise Pirates when they first debuted over here in Global. You didn’t hear anything about Testonen back when the only classes we had were the original four, right? Then it makes sense why he wouldn’t – and shouldn’t – exist in the Korean side.
I mean, wouldn’t some official art more or less help to prove his existential case?
Testonen appeared in EMS’ promotion, and in a Korean story quest – which later was translated to the other games. (The Bowman story during pre-BB)

It base off a twilight concept, a being of light and darkness. Some people might be right about there being 2 sets of heros because these are the heros of the past what about the present. The might be new heros based on that.
I personally think it is based off of the concept of yin and yang, due to the equilibrium part, needing to use dark skills when too many light ones are used, and light skills when too many dark skills are used, which balance is a huge part of yin and yang, and yin and yang literally means dark and light.

Is there any hint on a 5th job adv? Check id numbers? Because it looks like nexon may add one for 170->200 as that kibda fits.. since 170+ gets tough… real tough.
Nexon has been adding skills of late to the point that we can’t even max some of them. Perhaps they’ll just add 2 to 3 more skills to offset everything. From the threads it seems as if they’re making the game tougher to level. Each class is either lacking passive, active, attack, or buff skills in 4th job. Either way I’m glad I’m level 200! LOL!
Is twinkle flash considered a light skill? Because if it is, you have no dark skill in first job to use to offset the light nerf and dark boost lol

And BOTH OF YOU FORGET that none of his attacks break 10k, even though they only hit like 4 times a second. I think my evan hit 30k or 50k crits pre chaos with 0%int, mostly gold dragon equips (some were silver), all clean equips, and 7 sp in blessing of the fairy and none in empress’ blessing, no magic attack except for on my wand and maybe the base amount on a magician glove and a resistance ring, and a lvl 8 or 17 evolving ring 1, and a clean weapon on earthquake at around that level, and every class is like 10x that powerful now

Duh! they get less money off of the original adventurers because they share lockers, so you only need one set of nx for ALL of your adventurers. Thats the good reason i can think of why the gaiden adventurers, dual blade and cannoneer, don’t look as much like crap, i mean dual bladers have actually been the best class before. Have you seen any regular adventurers be the best mobbers since arans were released up until noone cared about mobbing capability as much in big bang, or the best at 1v1 since legend and were only the best for 3 short months, anyways, they better not nerf it,because, like demon slayers, plenty of people would play it even if it were suckish if anyone played for the right reasons, playstyle and looks (even those that want to play a class for those reasons would play a class that doesnt fit the bill as closely if the one thats perfect sucks), if they keep it op, then they will be able to maintain a facade to new players that the community isn’t so damage obsessed because its a class that looks both good and fun, so less people will quit, on the other hand, if people find out that a large part of the community is damage obsessed, they will have a harder time distinguishing those people who play the class for fun and looks and those that play for damage just by looking at their class, making the damage loving population seem even larger than it is

Back from the Dead! This does look exciting though. For people complaining about the lack of a Pirate Hero, I’d guess that there are two things behind that. First, someone involved in the Pirate quest mentions that Pirates use newer technology, so I imagine that’s why there isn’t really a Pirate Hero. Second, there seems to be a rash of region exclusive Pirate jobs, so KMS might even get their own.

The fact that Testonen’s use of them is non-existent in KOREAN MapleStory. You forget – Korean lore and North American (AKA Global) lore go by two separate threads. After all, that’s why that whole Masteria mess got left in the state it was in.
And of course, the fact that Masteria hardly exists in Korean Maple Story further serves to prove that Testonen is HIGHLY LIKELY a NA Nexon creation, further proving that his involvement in the Black Crusades arc may be a lie.
And before a certain copy-paster tries to refute my claims, I challenge him with this: show me, in kMS, where that quest says Testonen was a member of the Five Heroes. Far as I’m concerned, you got nothin’.

Max for the max level of skills changing, 3rd job is only compensated for 30 SP. Are you sure there aren’t more? Cause we lose 60 SP due to the level change and with the 30 SP compensated from the max level of skills change, we still lose 30 SP D: (If I did my math right)

I don’t really see if this can be a hero job, considering the fact the other heroes’ stories are being explained and made clear cut with a video/storyline while this…

I’m not sure about it, but Maplestory might finish the story-line of the game and then will release Maplestory 2 with a new story-line or they will continue the same one from Maplestory. I also can’t understand why they released Mikhail as a job without giving any information about more Cygnus classes, and then they even made it unavailable to create. Excited to get more information about the new job’s story-line! Maybe we will get the answer why it’s a mage and not a pirate like we thought.

Is it me or are dark skills a lot weaker in the fourth job?
My theories:
There will be a 5th job
Proof is that they lowered the job advancement reqs. Also there’s the massive ammount of mastery books we’ve been getting through events, and other means (treasure monsters, speigleman’s monster park, theme dungeons and etc). Also, there’s the fact to consider that there are a CRAP TON of theme dungeons now, ranging from various levels (I suspect Nexon will fill in the gaps on levels that aren’t there yet). Since Nexon is making leveling to 4th job that much easier, it stands to reason that there will be a 5th job.
And my guess is that it will be level 150. Proof is in the job gaps themselves 1-10 (10 level gap for newb/beginner) 10-30 (1st job with a 20 level gap), 30-60 (2nd job with a 30 level gap), 60-100 (3rd job with a 40 level gap). So it stands to reason that 5th job is around 150.
Btw, I can’t wait until the job level requirement to decrease. It just means more points for my current pally =D

Also my condolances to the Pirates who were hoping for a pirate hero. I too was looking forward to seeing the new pirate hero. However, look at it this way: if there isn’t a new pirate, then your class’ gear won’t go up in price.
Let them bandwagon on the new hero mage and let the price on their gear sky rocket (better them than you, right).
My theory is that they will be lowering the level bar for a few fights in order to make the Black Mage fight more easily accessible. After all, having the Black Mage be at Level 200 means that you’ll definitely have a very niche group fighting him. Which essentially gives you kids a superiority complex – and knowing Nexon, they already hate you faggots anyways. This is just another way for them to kick your shit ass to a new level of insult.
Also, by lowering the bar, perhaps it may pave the way for even harder content – or perhaps a cutting down of the max level cap, as well as quests that give no EXP but have more…. practical rewards (like gear, items and shit) akin to World of Warcraft (loathe though I am to mention that name, it goes hand in hand with this theory).
And as for the Pirate Hero – will you GET THE FUCK OFF THAT CRAZE?! Testonen was a MOTHERFUCKING AD CHARACTER MADE BY AMERICAN NEXON’S HANDS!
Absolutely nowhere in Korean Maple is there even close to any remote mention of Testonen – not to mention Testonen had black hair and tan skin iirc – in the face of genetics, Kyrin being his daughter wouldn’t fly. She’d have to retain the tan skin at least, and her hair shouldn’t be that light if she was (genetics would make her hair dirty blonde thanks to the other chromosomes from Yuris, her mother).
Not to mention Testonen’s model was that of a simple Mapler – dressed in rather NX based fashion that was easily accessible.

Oh right, here’s something I forgot to add: Chances are, there will probably be new PQs to accompany the previously mentioned 5th job that I talked about before. It’ll probably be 150-200. That being said, I hope there are also theme dungeons that accompany that level range, although it will probably come later as Nexon probably won’t want too many all-mighty 5th jobbers too quickly.
This makes me wonder though… Will 5th job require mastery books like 4th job did? Imagine, that they get rid of mastery books for 4th jobbers all together, and put it on 5th job instead? Although I don’t see that happening because of the ridiculous mastery books we’re getting from events and theme dungeons and etc.
Also, I hope that 5th job Paladins get called Templars cuz that sounds freaking badass. And I can only fathom what other ridiculous defensive skills they will get.
5th job at 150 is too early. You can’t max much at 150; you only have 150 SP. Some classes can’t even max all of their skills by 200, with current 4th job at 120 (i.e. Marksmen) – which is 80 levels or 240 SP. Logically, they’d make a “5th job” at probably around 180 and just give each job a few (2-3) new skills. We don’t need more skills, and no, Mastery Books probably won’t go away. There’ll probably just be new Mastery Books for 5th job.
Or they could reduce the mastery level and adjust the mastery books’ levels accordingly so there will be 2 books on max lvl 30 skills, and 1 for max lvl 20 skills.
OR raise SP from 3to 4 or 5 per level… SIMPLE

I think that if you’re in ‘light magic’ mode it doubles the hits of Light magic and vice versa.
So I have a question. If the advancements were changed, then were the levels given more exp required to level up? Or is it the same and it’s te monsters that have changed?

I do not know where I got this idea, but I was thinking, the heroes “lost” to the black mage, they became frozen for like a hundred years, so now they need to win, maybe the pirate hero is reinforcement what they need, someone with the past ruined by the black wings and becomes a hero in modern times to help defeat the black mage, maybe the name of the group is “Maples”, may still have a hope for the pirate hero.
The title said “final hero”, and Nexon said only have 5 heroes, so don’t dream too much
(skip this if you want to avoid a semi-pointless rant) I’m highly amused that people are shouting out about a 5th Job Advancement becoming more likely. I know I’m not the only one out there that’s thought along these lines before ( know there are some bright followers in this blog). Most, if not all, of the times which Nexon has put pre-existing classes or a certain group at a disadvantage by releasing something stronger, they always came back and buffed the “ones left behind” (i.e. Resist and Big Bang). So to those of you who figured this out, you also realized that eventually Nexon would exhaust all of their options and be forced to craft a 5th Job. Just look at the haywire revamping, if I recall correctly a select few skills that were added to a class as part of the initial “revamping” have been removed since you can only modify existing things so much before you are forced to expand. To sum it up: 5th Job has been foreseen a long time ago.
Ignoring my “5th Job” wall of text, the new class looks pretty nifty. Me mega gusta the “light and darkness” theme to the skills. It actually looks pretty original to me, and definitely looks fun. Let’s just see a little nerfing to those skills, now! Then I’ll be pretty content.

BTW Kyrin’s father wasnt one of the five heroes he was one of the 5 elders (explorers) and besides Nexon never said anything about the 5 classes being all different it’s only our guessing and jumping to conclusions and maybe they will make more classes and it will go on and on.

The Aran video also showed someone with a sword/shield, an archer with a normal bow, and no dragon for what seemed like…something….without a weapon, and a mage with a staff.
I don’t think it’s a good idea to use the Aran’s intro as a canon 5 heroes.
That would be their instant kill skill. It does not do that amount of damage onto bosses naturally (it essentially acts like Snipe). It also has a cooldown while you are not in the equilibrium state (when you are there is no cooldown between usages, no mana cost (unsure), and increased damage % in the form of extra hits (basically how MI worked before it became like SP)); granted you are only in equilibrium for a short period of time as to balance this factor. Whether or not one could view this as unbalanced is speculation mainly because this isn’t the official release of this job and a lot of adjustments can still be done before this goes official. In their current state it is obvious they are over-powered in some aspects; they get probably the highest DPS skill (haven’t actually calculated the %/s, just speculation) in the game at level 60 as well as it having adjustable direction. Now the balancing factor, or what they want to be the balancing factor, is that the damage gets decreased when you max the phase of either Light or Dark element. I personally feel the step to balancing this would to be prohibiting the usage of the non-phasing element (excluding equilibrium, since they have a CD) as to force the usage of the currently phasing element. The screen flash to clue you in to switch also seems really annoying.

Max you say that you gain more Experience while leveling up, but Shakar states that the MAX experience increased by that amount because of the Advancement changes, so you need more exp to level up, while you stated that it is that you GAIN more exp from mobs…
Hmm… I think I may have translated it wrong, but I dont understand why they’d only increase the exp required to level up for 10 random levels?
But why would they make it even easier. I mean, they lowered the level lmit for advancements AND they give you more exp… that’s 2 bonusses

Hey I have a few question, have any skill effects actually been changed? Or were the effects just scaled up to have the same effect at the new max level as the old one? Basically if a skill’s max level was decreased does it still have the same magnitude and effect at the new max level as the old one. Second, does the new advancement levels mean most jobs can max all 4th job skills now?
Has any information been released at all about the backstory of Luminous? It’ll be interesting to see how he fits in with the other heroes/demonslayer.
Lastly, about the tower of god thing, i thoght it was fan-art, how did that person know of the Luminous class beforehand? Or did he just have ungodly prediction skills.
1. The skills will still do the same amount of damage, etc, just at a lower level.
2. Nope, they only released the job and its skills. I assume the storyline will be added within the next patch.
3. Nexon commisioned SIU to draw that comic for them, they probably told him to insert it as a teaser (like how last year Danika of Eurel was in the 8th Anniversary Rising Star video before Mercedes came out, this year they showed Luminous beforehand).
max, i think u miss few second job skill…
I don’t agree on making 4th job at lvl 100. So I’ll just get my buccaneer and my mercedes to 200 and quit the game. It was nice playing the game when it took a little bit of effort to get to 200, but now with a possible 5th job on its way, lvl 200 won’t even seem so fun. Also inb4 nexon messes up pirates again and people cause a shit storm.
For a character that supposedly uses both Light and Dark, there’s certainly not as many Dark skills. I counted 10 – 6 Light-Dark skills.
Also I’m guessing that using the Equilibrium skills is going to be annoying to mix into a flow of attacks.

Why always Nexon have to copy ideas from WoW? I mean, first professions, then exp bonus the more time you are offline, and then this? This is the same as a Balance Druid, with the Light/Dark system, in WoW they use Nature/Arcane (Sun Eclipse/Moon Eclipse). I can’t say Luminous isn’t cool but, come on, make your own ideas and stop copying ideas from other games…
There’s no such a thing as original ideas in both games. The professions are something present in a LOT of games and so is the dark/light concept, so stop bitching around and just enjoy the update
all of classes are based in something, if you go search you will find a book or a legend or maybe a anime with a character with dark and light power, like sephiroth, if maple story have a class with something like wow probably it’s coincidence and not copying, don’t take hasty conclusions.

No, GMS been following KMS. Main thing GMS got from JMS that was GMS-only was Familiars/the new Monster Book system. We still don’t have the Spirit Weapons that JMS has, nor multiple Familiars at the same time. GMS is just delaying the KMS updates to put some (crap) GMS-exclusive stuff (like Jett) in between, and changing a few names (Justice–>Renegade) and recolors.

What the hell do you guys have against GMS? You should be happy that this is even in America for those who play it. Are you kidding me, they copy and paste every update? Yes because every other version of Maple does something different every new update -_-.You all complain about Jett as if they committed a crime too. Until they get empress, yes.
True, but it does make the existing equipments scrolled with secondary stats useless since you won’t need them anymore. It kills the purpose except if you get the Empress set, which still requires some secondary stats boost from common equipments.
But other than that, non-empress equipments will be scrolled pure main stats.
Woa, Its like what if the bishop got turned into an attack class and no longer heal..well there is that 1% heal HP but woa that is cool…10% Ignore…I just might use that for a reason to make one and try it when ever it hits GMS but woa that is a crazy class

Sometimes when your UI turns fully dark or light, you’ll go into Equilibrium instead of just being asked to switch magic.
1) Are his Orbs (or at least the final one) able to be potential’d?
2) Are his job advancements instantaneous like Mercedes and Evan or do you have to do quests like everyone else?
1) Not sure… I haven’t checked, but I’m sure it can be, every single class since Cannon Shooter has had a secondary weapon with potential, so they’d obviously give Luminous one too 😮 Plus the fact that the Orbs don’t have stats anyways, so they’re pretty useless unless they could have potential.
2) Can’t say right now, no quests have been added and you have to advance by talking to Mr. Goldstein in Lith Harbor.
So. is this guy’s “home” i guess u can say is lith harbor??? like cuz aran is that snowy place, evan is henesys, mercedes is ellul, and phantom is his flying boat… pardon my spelling.
He doesn’t have a ‘hometown’ yet, absolutely no storyline quests or areas have been added for Luminous yet.

I think that there is going to be a 5th job advancement but I think it’s going to be similar for jobs in the same group. Like adventurers get their own skills and resistance get there own, etc. I think it’s going to start at around 180 because 80 levels is more than enough to max all necessary 4th job skills and maybe even finish some 3rd job skills. I think these skills wont be attacks but more like passive and utility skills.

as for Rankor I think that its a character who was raised my maple monsters and was raised intoa brilliant warrior. Skills: he uses animal attacks like bears and all the shit and once his rage is charged up he turns into an animal of your choosing and you get to be that animal for 15 seconds

The voice acting in this is really odd, I mean, only a small portion of the NPCs speak (Lion King Castle) and I think the Empress and Hilla are the only monsters that speak as well, and now only 1 character speaks. Everything else is just silent…
Of course, there’s the mercedes / demon slayer opening with the voice acting, but after that, you’ll have to be in your level 150+’s to hear any other voices.
Why do Luminous’ attacks seem like they have shadow partner behind them? The numbers go really high (not damage-wise)
All their skills (other than light reflection maybe) seem to hit a ridiculous number of lines. On the other hand, the delay for their skills seem to be very very high. So we’ll see how fast they actually are when more info comes out.
Actually, it’s because of dark mode/light mode, which makes them hit double the amount they normally do. Their delay isn’t that much, if you actually read their skills…

There can’t be a pirate hero because the pirate class didn’t exist in the heroes’ lifetimes; the pirate class was started by Kiren when she heard of the Black Mage’s revival.

I like how Nexon is so stupid they can’t finish off with a pirate hero. If you don’t plan on making the last explorer a hero, don’t make it an explorer, simple as that. If they wanted 5 heroes, they should have thought about that before making an evan.
Or, you know, the pirate job wasn’t an original class back in the day, and since the 5 heroes are originally from the past in Maple World, it’s safe to say pirates didn’t exist in their time. Get over yourself.
You sir need to research on the origin of the explorers. The pirates came late as Anonymous explained they never were part of the original explorer class they were just add ins for a different feel to MS v. 1.05 they shouldnt really even be a class or an explorer to be honest because they honestly no offense to the buccs and cors’ here suck. Excuse me everyone, i saw ALL the talking here, so, there isn’t a pirate hero, that’s true, but we can’t do something at all, also, if anonymous states that pirates weren’t a real class when the heroes sealed the black mage, then there it can’t be a pirate, and maple isn’t going to do an “R” or an “S” hero (tough, maples sounds weird imo, and mapler is the person or people that plays maplestory, just saying), Mercedes, Aran, Phantom, Luminous and Evan spell “MAPLE” as everyone states, and if even Evan is not the “real” dragon master’s name, he participated in sealing the Black Mage, so it really makes him a hero (even if Freud dies in the attempt). So let’s be honest, people can’t accept the fact that there is not a pirate hero, but, what do we can do?, beg the maple creators to make one and mess up all the actual “storyline” that we have about the heroes?.
Also, it doesn’t sounds bad to make “STORY” heroes, but that would be their choose.
Another thing i wanted to state, Mihile is a Cygnus instructor, so is not a bad idea to make the other instructors (Oz, Eckhart, Irena), again, i am just saying.
To finish, and resuming, pirate hero is never going to happen, no matter the proofs, videos, images, etc. And if even Maple happens to do so, i bet if it IS a good idea, heroes are as they are, Heroes, no matter if Evan is “not a hero”, and whatever if there are 2 mages?, we can’t complain that, and Luminous really looks awesome (he’s coming in December 5 :D).
PD: And is a side info, i play maple, i am only at renegades, see me as IsGamer(and class name, example: IsGamerMage, IsGamerPhant, etc).
