MapleStory 2 – End of CBT!
Hey guys! Earlier today, the Closed Beta Test for MapleStory 2 ended. Over the past five days, I had a ton of fun playing, exploring the world, and checking out all of the game’s features! I took so many screenshots and I recorded some videos as well to share with you guys.
Some of you might have received an email about a post called the Comprehensive Guide to MapleStory 2, but that was a mistake on my part, it’s not ready yet! But come back soon, because it’s going to have a ton of information (you won’t need any other site!) 🙂 Right now I’ll just share with you guys my videos~
The game has a lot of customization of your character, even from character creation above. In Beauty Street, you have access to a lot of hairstyles and faces, as well as the ability to change your equipment’s colours!
Another thing I loved was the variety of emotes you can have, called dynamic motions in MapleStory 2. You get like 12 basic ones and you can buy so many more in shops.
In the Grand Hall in Tria, you can advance to a job of your choice. Currently, only five jobs out of eight were available: Knight, Wizard, Priest, Ranger, and Assassin. The other three jobs, Berserker, Heavy Gunner, and Thief should be available in the next testing phase (OBT?).
Here’s a tour of all of the cities in MapleStory 2: Tria, Henesys, Kerning City, Perion, Ellinia, and Lith Harbor. At first glances of the game, I wasn’t too sure about the block style, but it works really well and some areas are beautiful! I love that Ellinia is actually a giant tree that you can climb.
The music in this game is amazing, especially the remixed versions of the original. Go to 5:25 and bask in the glory of remixed Ellinia. I really hope someone can extract the music, there’s a lot more tracks than the Alpha client and some BGMs were changed from then as well.
Due to the limited SP for all classes (100 at all levels), you can’t spam your stronger abilities. You have to weave in more basic skills which replenish SP. As a Ranger, I was really squishy so I had to make good use of my Frost Shot to slow enemies and create distance between us.
Anyways, the game is really fun and I hope you guys can experience it soon! Hopefully my guide will be out before the end of this week, but no promises~

hopefully never. this game looks like a copy of minecraft. dont need a blockygame sorry. they cant be artistic we dont need it. saves money. (shrugs )
just because it has blocks doesn’t mean its Minecraft. It’s not even based around building things. If you have an opinion that’s fine, but make sure your reasons make sense, also you should say “you” not “we” because some people do want it.
they make it blocky so it’s easier to build maps and make textures -.-
and also the fact that we can make our own block textures.
1) To compare this to Minecraft is like comparing a Mountain Bike to a Dirt Bike. It’s in no way the same thing, and you come off as being incredibly ignorant.
2) “We” is not accurate. Don’t talk for the majority if you have no idea what they want. YOU don’t want it and thats fine, but keep the bandwagon defense out of it. You have no support from anyone here.
3) Not producing a game is not saving money. Supply and demand, look it up Cupcake.
It’s called a Voxel game. Minecraft isn’t the first nor the ONLY Voxel game out there. Go play more games because there are plenty box graphics in games. At least people like you won’t be playing. We don’t need narrow-minded gamers who think they know every game none to man.

Everyone has only 100 SP (which is different than MS1’s SP, you should really think of it like Demon Slayer’s DF). You can’t increase it and there are no potions to heal it, but most skills use it up while some other ones replenish it so you gotta use multiple skills when hunting.
After watching extended gameplay; it doesn’t seem like it’s improved enough on the tedious nature of MS1. I could still be proven wrong by later-level combat, new content, etc. But having such an emphasis on checklist style quests is a bad sign in my book. I know there are people out there that still enjoy that style of gameplay, but I personally cant get into a game unless all of my actions feel at least somewhat new and interesting. MMO’s like this could really benefit from rogue-like elements.
This game was meant to go back to MS1’s roots..
Don’t get me wrong, I loved old-school MS (more so than post big bang MS). But in retrospect it had many flaws (atleast to my taste). A good sequel should not only imitate what made the original great; it should innovate on what made the original great. Recapturing what made oldschool MS awesome doesn’t mean they should be pooling from all of the exact same mechanics. To me the move to 3D alone isn’t enough of a step forward.
Then I have no clue what you’re wanting.. They created an old school maple world with better looking skills that is 3D. It’s party oriented instead of OP solo and doesn’t have myriads and myriads of copy + pasted imbalanced classes. Maybe I’ve played the ruined game so much that I have come to not expect much or ask for much, idk..
I’m probably being overly cynical…I’ve constantly daydreamed about how to improve MS since like 2008 so allot of their design choices make me all like “that’s not how I’d do it!”. I haven’t actually played it yet so who’s to say how fun it is. I just hope that somewhere along the way I can re-experience that indefinable feeling I got from early MS.

Quick question Max, can you change your character’s look after saving your IGN? I have a few IGNs I want to save ASAP but I also want to design my characters as well.
Only by going to Beauty Street, which is currently free in CBT but it will probably cost a lot of mesos/some Cash.
Awesome thanks Max! It will be worth it to make my characters and save their IGNs rather than spending time customizing.
I wonder how many people will re-create MS2 maps in Minecraft, feels like it would be easy 😀

I see they’ve changed the BGM from the Moonlight Shadow remix showcased in the Victoria Island video to the When the Morning Comes remix! Love it!
BTW, is the Moonlight Shadow remix still in the game? Because that theme was pretty awesome too, I don’t want it to go away..

I’m not sure if I speak for everyone but I like it when you give us a glimpse of what’s next in small bits and pieces instead of waiting for a long comprehensive post. Need something to read when I wake up.

is there pay to win features at all?
They said they’re trying to stay away from pay2win features in MS2. So, I’m sure all testers would say no. However, you and I both know that will change upon actual release. They can’t revert to old MS1 features because old MS1 sold customization whereas MS2 seems like they are offering that upfront. Tbh, I hope they just charge 3 bucks a month and then charge for some stuff that isn’t damage related and call it a day.
The whole point of Nexon is that they make free-to-play online games. I doubt that they would charge 3 dollars per month.
But it is kind of strange, MS2’s not supposed to have any NX items that affect the actual gameplay, yet they said that CBT won’t have any “EXP Coupons”…
Also the Cash Shop BGM at Beauty Street suggests that customization will not be free once the game is released.

It was another average day in Gravity falls. The Mystery Shack crew and residents of Gravity Falls had show up at Soos’ funeral. They dug a (giant) hole into the ground for Soos’ dead and naked body. As a little dirt got onto him, Wendy stopped everyone. She ripped of her clothes and started rapidly fucking Soos’ dead body. Stan made everyone pay 10$ to watch. Mabel was horrified, Dipper, however, was hard as hell. He quickly ran into the outhouse to masturbate. He was just about to start until Mabel came in crying about Soos’ death and being scarred for life thanks to Wendy. She wiped away her tears and looked at Dipper, shocked. She had no idea what she had just done, she was so embarrassed, but somehow liked what she saw. Before they knew it, they were doing hardcore incest. Meanwhile, back at the funeral, Wendy had done Soos to hard. It went too far, and she died. The whole paying crowd had masturbated. No one could know of what they had done. They geared up with weapons, knives, guns, and everything. There was no time to waste, they rushed to the Mystery Shack. Stan was on the phone, telling their parents about all that had happened. He also had a whole Microsoft Word document written about it, that was 90% done being sent to everyone in Gravity Falls. Dipper took his gun, and put it near his head. He slowly pulled the trigger and said, “Gruncle Stan, you will one day burn in a endless hell.” then died. Mabel screamed and let out puddles of tears. She took her weapons. She wanted to avenge her brother. She killed everyone in Gravity Falls, and finally, jumped off a cliff with no desire to live her life any longer.
Open beta is the next phase? or they will just start it?
Most likely OBT, unless they decide to do a second CBT (noooo). They’re awarding “Adventurers” (everyone who applied for CBT) a hat and a free mount in OBT.
So is there no more parts of the winter update? I’m pretty sure the last event is on February 12, and usually new information about the next part of the update comes about a week before the last event of the previous update ends. Its 3 days before the last event now (I think) and still no new info so I’m assuming there won’t be another update?
There was a tiny Tespia patch released a couple days ago that I didn’t cover, it didn’t have ANY content other than the return of Wolf vs Sheep…

I for one am excited. It seems like out of the ms1 pool people are split 50/50. At least that’s what it seems like after skimming forums such as basil market. I personally love the block style. I think it complements the chibi style characters. My favorite thing however is the limited sp. now I’m not a mathematician or anything but it seems like this will be a game that is impossible to solo, which is something I was hoping for. It will force me to be social. I just hope this doesn’t turn into a play to when game but I don’t see how that can be the case when there are extensive customization features everyone gets for free. I want to know how they plan to make money other than giving people who dump hundreds of dollars in an unfair advantage. All of these things are my opinions and I am open to responses but please remember that I stated nothing in this post as fact.
