FINALLY! A video with gameplay from the upcoming MapleStory 2!! I definitely was not expecting the whole block environment thing… but I think it still looks really cute haha. The combat system also looks like it will be a ton of fun.

Personally it reminds me of something out of the Sega Genesis Era, particularly the look of Sonic 3D Blast and Minecraft with elements of Super Mario RPG and Super Mario 3D world thrown in. Personally I find the camera angles to be dizzying(ie the camera angle goes from an overview angle to a side ways angle in less than a few frames), and the fact that you can barely see your characters faces to be a little annoying. I am not against 3D games, but I think that they could of done better so I personally will pass on this game and stick to the original MS.

Yeah, it does resemble Mario 3D World, but it also reminds me of Bastion. Floating blocks, isometric view, hack and slash combat…As someone who played MS for years and got tired with it, I am interested in at least trying this game now. I dunno if it’ll be any better than MS1, but I will at least try it, as it looks like something I’d play.
Skills seem underwhelming IMO. Crossing my fingers for some resistance classes to make the crossover!
Probably just NPC…. same with Cygnus Knights, Unknown for Nova creatures.
It looks like they went a bit lazy with the environments, kind of like minecraft to build stuff faster. I don’t have a problem with it but everything else looks so stylized. Combat looks a bit simple but fun. There were only a few skills used by each class so this is probably not much. Really excited for this.
I think the 2D art looks way better, I love the background illustrations and 2D design of MS and I’m sure gonna miss it, made the game stand out. But don’t get me wrong I wanna play MS2! I support any attempt to innovate and I’m sure I won’t be disappointed. Just kinda wish we could also get an improved MS in HD.

Mmm not really a fan of combat. Skills look very linear and easy to miss. >.< I hope we don't have skills have will move characters forward, that's really annoying.
Well at the very least the sequel doesn’t look like it’ll compete with original MS so it’s future (the original’s) looks safer.

You need to enter a korean phone number/address and email and your name. It ends on June 28th (Supporters day) you also need to tell them why you want to be picked.
And yes it needs to all be in korean, if you get picked you get sent latest images and future plans for MS2

i play still play maplestory and i play other decent RPG games daily….(pokemon and zelda final fantasy)
You have been brainwashed. You have no idea what a good RPG is. Saying you still play those exact 3 games means you don’t play any non ancient release, or some sort of revamped genre of them. And pokemon X & Y isn’t a revamp of the genre, it’s the same thing.
MapleStory sucks. It is all about powerleveling, skipping quest text, Free Market, >damage<. If you want to be social go on chat rooms, that game doesnt' exist for the chat system. It's an easy game that requires money to beat. It sucks in it's core. Even if MapleStory 2 won't be like this first year, it will still revert back to the same good ol' pay to win business model.
It sucks and you know it. The only "better" you can be compared to someone else is if you spent more money – that's fact. In the first few years there was a competative aspect and you could earn things that are pay to win now. Good luck playing the game without it being a FM Simulator – it's impossible. The best gear in the game requires money to get. That's like 5 year olds browser games that require sub fees… It's ridic. This format makes the game the opposite of a challenge… It's pathetic. There is more challenge in Diablo 3 then there is in MapleStory. Go try Diablo 2 or a classic WoW server or EVE online or Arche Age or Widstar. So many others. Normal MMO side-effect, you believe it's getting better when it isn't. Since Big Bang they have been buffing and nerfing shit and in the long run they ALWAYS keep buffing instead of nerfing. Nerfs don't last, buffs keep happening way more. Doesn't matter because to make the perfect weapon in the game you have to spend money and it is one of the only games where going without any microtranscations instead of the pay-to-win method is truely not worth is because it is too time consuming. There is no competition or challenge in spending months to make 1 perfect item where there is a person who spends $X to get all the perfect items immediately. Leveling will never be a competative aspect of MapleStory because all the highest levels are… People who used Free market and money on the game.

ofc u need to $ or to spend alot of time making items to get enough damge to solo PARTY MOBS or to solo a hard boss i mean the party or expdetion limit is made to be reached also thier are bosses that were made with 5th job in mind besides u only need a party of atkers to do get good exp from training i mean i reached my ds to lvl 200 before 250 came to be and it damge was even low for a guy that doesnt pay nx (the only challenging thing in maplestory are the jump quests )
if ur ganna talk about the shety cummunity that only cares about the dmg and how they pay alot of $ for it then u should at the players not the game

Oh man, I remember playing Dragonica/Dragon Saga. Not sure if I’ll try it again, but it was fun.
As for the Minecraft comparison…While I can see where you’re coming from, I think it’s a bit early to truly tell if it’s been influenced by Minecraft or not.

The promo characters didn’t really appeal to me, but the in game ones look a lot nicer.
For a second there I thought we were going to be restricted to chess-like movement though. But I don’t think so after looking at the dance club part and the falling environment part.
I guess I’ll try this out if they have Beginners again (though, I think I remember seeing the characters start jobbed?). Otherwise I’ll just reserve names I guess. haha
I would totally make a Beginner-only character, if only for the novelty. It’d be hilarious.

Just love how everyone’s saying minecraft like an uneducated piece of shit, voxel is a genre it’s basically destructible environments but is usually seen in cube like games. I understand how it’s relatable to minecraft but don’t bash a game you’ve seen 1 and a half minutes of just because you don’t like what it looks like. it’s not like nexon just pulls this stuff out of their ass for money, it takes effort, and when people seem to find a new game they all of a sudden become a professional game critic. Just watch the updates and leave if you don’t enjoy this. I swear you people are as bad as the “old maplers”.
Honestly speaking, i feel like they could’ve done much better. Since it is voxel based and what not. i better see new areas every week or so since maps are stupidly easy to make. IF not, maybe add some customisations for players to make their own things i guess. Either way, i am dissapointed. I was expecting soo much more.

This “lego” design is really lame… i waited for it cuz all the skills and everything looked very nice but seriously this lame design make the original game to look alot better even during the period when it was only released… disappointment…

This is seriously crappy. I loved original maple story, don’t get me wrong. But this one I won’t even consider downloading once it comes out. I thought they could come up with something better than minecraft, because we already have one. Makes me wonder what the developers were smoking.
