TMS ver. 259 – Child of the Forest, Lynn!

February 24, 2024 Leave a comment Go to comments

This is the first non-KMS post in a long, long, long time! I actually looked back and the last one was back in December 2012 where Root Abyss was released in CMST before KMST! Since KMS is heading into the off season and a few people have asked me to do this because they like how I format these types of posts, I decided to cover the new overseas class, Child of the Forest, Lynn!

Disclaimer: I don’t know Chinese. Actually, a very kind commenter Xiluoye sent me English translations of all of Lynn’s skills (so huge thanks to them!!), which I will be using as a base along with some help from friends (like Steve, who also made videos showing off Lynn that I’ll share below), my own data mining, and good old Google Translate. Also, this skill information is based off of TMS data, which may or may not differ from other versions. (The skill names are not written out like KMS’ Konglish so they required actual translations which made some of them kinda weird, they’ll probably be completely different when they get localized to GMS).

Child of the Forest, Lynn

Overview

Lynn is the reincarnation of the ‘Child of the Forest’. The ‘Child of the Forest’ is said to be a messenger of the forest, communicating with the Guardians to protect the Eternal Forest. Through an earnest call to step into the forest, Lynn begins a long journey to understand her own destiny.

The power of the forest awakens the latent power of others. You can use the power of the Guardians to fight together with you while healing and protecting your allies.

Lynn is a Jianghu magician that uses the Memory Staff weapon and the Leaf secondary weapon (she can also use regular Shields). The Union effect is +1/2/3/5/6% defense ignore.

Lynn’s beginning town is the Eternal Forest, located in the Jianghu continent (the other side is Moxuan’s area!).

    Bishop with favouritism.

A class in DFO has the same mechanism iirc.

DFO doesn’t have a nature themed support, as per say. But they do have a support that can essentially create a barrier with massive damage reduction and she can constantly heal people since her heal can chain between target.

Ground Crash’s cooldown was reduced to 30s so that it has 100% uptime.

Oh no… I like this class already, but I could see the “summon party members to your location” effects being problematic if left in the hands of trolls.

Max, there is more information about the ‘[Focus] Awakening’ that you should add:
    1) for +10% final damage to [Focused] Target is only for a [Focused] Target that is NOT YOURSELF. so a Lynn player cannot stack +30% and +10% on herself.
    2) subsequently, the Final Damage scaling from int also doesn’t work on Lynn herself; it will only work on a [Focused] Target that is NOT YOURSELF.

For anyone else reading this: no this isn’t a bug. People on the Taiwan has confirmed that this is the intended way the skill is supposed to work.

There is some additional information for other skills:
‘[Focus] Healing’ is not affected by buff duration.
‘Sneak Strike’ is not affected by cooldown skip.
‘Nature Purification’ is not affected by buff duration.
‘Brush With Nature’ is not affected by buff duration, nor cooldown skip, nor cooldown reduction.
These are all intended and not bugs.

Just double checked and yeah I missed the part in Awakening’s skill description that says the other FD bonus only applies to the [Focused Target] and not yourself, so I’ll add that ty!
The other stuff is not in the skill descriptions so I think I’ll just leave em like that, but good to know for anyone planning to main this class!

    hey max
i got some questions about the lynn

first of all, her skills r rly great
my beast tamer will be lvl 260 soon and im rdy to transfer it to lynn 🙂

-if lynn is getting 3 att speed from 2 skills in 2nd and 3rd job, how much att speed base is giving the memory staff?
-does lynn inner ability will be 1 att speed? cd skip? or keep my % boss dmg on my beast tamer? yes, it rly depend on her weapon…
    – y u only post the skills? what about the other lynn related events? and the beast tamer transfer to lynn event rewards?
-how does work the beast tamer transfer to lynn work? it similar to jett in gms? the corrent equipped gears stats r changing to lynn stats, int/magic att, the weapon, secondary weapon, emblem is converted to lynn items like i equipped simmilar to jett?
-when i transfer my beast tamer to lynn, and im starting the storyline, do i start with my converted weapon(absolab), secondary weapon(princess no) leaf and lynn emblem? or i start like almost with nothing?
-y u didnt mention the list of lynn questlines names, weapons, secondaries and emblems pictures or something like that?

PS: i also heard that lynn is getting an alliance quest in lvl 75 like every class that gives the medal/skill of the alliance, if some1 doesnt know

      Hi this is Xiluoye

1、base on 4 weapon speed in memory staff(7 weapon spd)

2、I think ability will be speed in 1st line, cd skip/boss in 2nd/3rd line in gms(difference of TMS/CMS)

3、I think its similar like jett , so you can start with your equipment

4、If you transfer bt to lynn, you will get some reward like:①change name coupon ②memory paint ③20 soul erda ④500 soul erda fragment ⑤、lynn face coupon、lynn hair coupon、lynn skin coupon

5、you can use 200 burning event on lynn

6、“can get alliance quest” thats true

The answer from me for most of these questions is literally that I don’t know Chinese lol, there’s no patch notes like KMS so there’s nothing for me to work off of.

So does this means we’ll be losing lvl 3 link skill since it caps at lvl 2 unlike Beast Tamer’s (which it replaces)?

no we will keep our level 3 link version of the skill JUST LIKE HOW BT IS NOW… CMS only gets up to level 2 link skills… they don’t have level 3 links but gms does and in GMS BT is a level 3 link and this won’t be changing

    Hello man,
I got 4 questions and it will be huge if u would find time to answer them.

    1. Is Chinese maplestory runs by nexon or do they being developed by some other chinese publisher like tencent or netease?
    2. Does Chinese maplestory get big updates before or after KMS? I remember form my time playing GMS that every big update was originating from KMS but now since I see they get this class before I was interested maybe CMS is ahead of KMS.
    3. Do u have any idea if when MapleStory universe (the web3 version) will come out, would it still be separated by regions or it will be global so that people from all regions can play with each other?
    4. In today’s world, why does maplestory still have this separation to regions? wouldn’t it be nicer if there was just one maplestory and people can just choose what server to play in? Do u know such plans from nexon?

Not sure about CMS, but TMS usually 6-8months slower than KMS main update and it is published by gamania(famous for rigged rate), you can search dinter gamania lawsuit from their another game lineage M to check the rigged rate and had been proved as well.

      1. CMS is published by Shengqu Games but as with all overseas Maple, development is done directly by Nexon Korea. They have a specific overseas team that works on non-KMS content.
      2. CMS got New Age/6th job in January I believe, so it’s a pretty similar schedule to TMS like 6-7 months behind KMS. Lynn is not going to be released in Korea (or at least they have not announced anything).
      3. No idea.
      4. No idea.
