Inkwell’s Secret Diary – There’s No Way to Escape!

There's No Way to Escape!

An unpredictable attack pattern!
Hologram gravity blast!

Our first view at Xenon‘s skills, as well as what they look like in game! I guess you can make a male and female Xenon. She’s holding a sword… an Energy Sword? I think this confirms that Automata is the same as Xenon, since this looks very much like the skill Energy Field Unfold.

Maybe it extends from a sword into a whip when attacking, but just not for this particular skill? E.g. for all the Melee focused skills it extends (making it into a whip) but for the casting type skills it just stays as is. It could be kinda like Zabimaru but only more whip like?

I hope the other attacks are faster than this. Im looking forward to this class so hopefully they dont screw it up 😛 im sure they will do a fine job with the rest of the skills, this one just seems kinda boring and stupid and slow.

But hey not trying to be negative! I have super high hopes for the rest! I love the hair and eyes and damn that gear looks so cool! i might have to anvil the empress thief overall to look like that! (in male form of course!)

I thought Xenon uses a futuristic whip thingy. Are you SURE they are the same???? I mean didn’t the picture show a whip? Why can’t there be two new resistance? Didn’t stop the explorers when they got cannoneer. A special explorer. Someone please explain to me. 😦

    December 14, 2012 at 12:13 am

Great. This is just what MapleStory needs. Another convoluted, cooldown dependent, “awesome yet impractical” class that differentiates itself only by using futuristic technology as a gimmick.

Does anyone remember that feeling Resistance? Or Legends? You know, when classes actually filled niches instead of relying on gimmicks.

What the hell is Xenon supposed to accomplish, aside from filling a Thief Resistance hole they never should’ve left open to begin with? Is there even a point to him when he’s just another named, promotional, limited-time-only, event character?

There’s far too many named classes, and not enough work being done on the permanent ones. When you need 15 character creation buttons to list all the options, including Xenon, it’s time to consolidate.

But then again, if they consolidate, then they can no longer scam people out of their cash with exclusive cash shop inventories. It’s no wonder the GMS community is like it is. Because Nexon now caters to the lowest common denominator with no appreciation for HARD WORK and GUTS. Nope. Now it’s all about NEW STUFF, POWER CREEP and MONEY. Leading to the unimpressive, boring ass classes that leave us wanting Scythe Babe instead.

      December 14, 2012 at 1:12 am

U haven’t even seen this class in action
      It might actually be cool
It has new mechanisms like the dodge rate a stat energy storage thing

And well nexon is a company
And companies r there r make money
…… They have to do it some way

      • SilverJack
        December 14, 2012 at 9:02 am

It doesn’t matter how cool it looks. I’m judging it based on what it would be like to actually play it, which can be imagined based on a previous post’s description of its skills and gimmick.

On gimmick classes like Xenon, Burster and Slayer, there’s essentially a mini-cooldown on skills unless you actively keep an eye on the gimmick. MP classes, however, don’t have to deal with that shit. MP classes can use their skills without restraint. And that’s why gimmicks don’t belong in a game like Maple. Gimmicks do nothing but gimp a class. They belong more in games like Elsword, where you always have to actively watch and juggle skills anyway. But MapleStory isn’t that kind of skill based game, so any attempts to make it one are little more than fake difficulty, limitations imposed for the sole purpose of having limitations, as if they haven’t already completely destroyed game balance a long time ago with the implementation of the cash shop.

When it comes to Nexon’s money making policies, I still judge them based on the ethics they should have but don’t. You can tell me a person has to make a living to survive, but that still doesn’t mean I’d root for being a hooker as a perfectly valid career choice. It’s even worse with Nexon, since they’re a big multinational conglomerate that is in no way desperate for money. MapleStory profited just fine before exclusive cash shop inventories, gachapon and potential were implemented, so the very notion that they have no other choice is clearly false. They’re just being a bunch of greedy dicks. And that’s terrible.

Maple would’ve been better off if new sub classes were instead incorporated into the existing main ones. Because at the end of the day, they’re all still just Warriors, Magicians, Archers, Thieves or Pirates. Damn, those were the days, when those WERE the only classes, without any gimmicks or exclusive inventories. BACK IN MY DAY there weren’t any time based cooldowns, either. One could spam ultimates until the Balrogs came home. Well, ever since Demon Slayer, players still can. Which pretty much defeats the point of cooldowns, and yet they’re still in the game. It’s no wonder GMS players glorify the good old days, when the game at least tried to be consistent.

        • mithi9
          December 14, 2012 at 10:59 am

If you don’t like the cash shop
          Don’t buy stuff?
If people but things they’ll keep making them

And I’m pretty sure xenon uses mp
It just some skills that use the enrgy thing
          Like a couple of Buffs

Because most of them were jealous at those who throws all moneys to Nexon
Because they were being paranoid when it comes to the fact that there are many players who were stronger than them
Or simple, they didn’t enjoy the game
Seriously Maple has stayed old for like 6 years and needed to change no matter what, or the numbers of players will fall down faster than you think
