kMS ver. 1.2.183 – The Ultimate Weapon, Xenon!

MapleStory Unlimited Xenon

Xenon, the first Hybrid job and newest Resistance character has been added! Xenon features new systems as well as stat usage, and has a great story to boot!

In addition, a couple of new systems and special Cash items have been added that may interest you~ They also increased the maximum number of character slots to 21.

kMS ver. 1.2.183 World Selection Screen (1)

kMS ver. 1.2.183 World Selection Screen (2)

Here are the two world selection screens for this patch.

There were some extra changes this patch. They added an experience penalty if you fight monsters above your level, from 21 levels above to 31 levels above (that is, you will start losing exp when they are 21 levels above you and the penalty will grow as their levels are higher, up to 31 levels above you).

Xenon Character Creation

The new class, Xenon, can now be created! To celebrate Xenon’s opening, everyone receives a free character slot!

January Club Henesys Letter

However, Knights of Cygnus creation has been temporarily restricted. What could this mean… an incoming reorganization for them? We know they’ll be receiving Hyper Skills, but they might be receive a large overhaul as well!

A letter was sent out to Maple Club Henesys members that stated Empress Cygnus’ true powers have been awakened, and the Knights of Cygnus will receive a large reorganization in January! I think this might be related to Root Abyss, because at the end of the story, Alice the World Tree goes to rest in Ereb.

Xenon Creation Options

When creating one, you first choose between male or female. Then you can choose between the Xenon Type and the Suu Type (for males) or the Orca Type (for females). You can also choose whether or not you want Generate Marks on your character.

In Xenon’s tutorial, you see him as a young child, playing with the future Resistance instructors. However, soon Gelimer kidnaps him and for many years, his friends have no idea what happened.

Xenon is finally completed, and is being tested when the Resistance break into Gelimer’s lab, given information by the recently betrayed Orca. Xenon is sent to stop them but begins to remember strange events upon seeing Claudine. He realizes that his memories have been taken from him and chooses to escape with the Resistance in order to regain them!

Beryl, another one of Gelimer’s androids, tries to stop him but the rest of the Resistance appear and they escape. Beryl is a recurring enemy in the Xenon storyline, but I believe that they wish to be friends sooner or later.

Asymmetry Horn Dual Core Controller

Xenon uses a new weapon, called the Energy Sword, as well as his secondary weapon, the Controller.

Power Source and Heart Slots

He also has a unique Power Source slot, which can hold either existing Android hearts or new Hybrid Hearts for Xenon  only. Therefore, Xenon is the first character that can wear two Android hearts at the same time~

Surplus Supply Effect

Xenon uses a secondary mana system called Surplus Supply! Over time, Surplus Energy will be charged up and can be consumed for certain skills. Skills that use Surplus Energy will have a blue flag on the skill icon. In addition, for each Surplus Energy stored, you will gain 1% all stats.

For each job advancement, you will unlock 5 more Surplus Energy (1st job: 5, 2nd job: 10, 3rd job: 15, 4th job: 20).

Multilateral Bonuses

Xenon is also the first character to use three main stats, STR, DEX, and LUK. In each job advancement, he has a skill called Multilateral which gives him bonuses for each of these stats. However, this skill only takes into account base stats, not stats from equipment or skills.

STR gives Stance, DEX gives resistance to statuses and elements, and LUK gives avoid rate. All three together give him increased total damage.

Multi Mode Linker Effect

Finally, Xenon has the Multi Mode Linker system. From second job onwards, certain skills will have different modes, each with a different effect. To change the mode of your skill, you have to hold down the skill key then press Multi Mode Linker. This will show you the three different modes of the skill, and then you’ll have to press left, right, or up to choose.

You can also press the mode button in your skill inventory but that takes much more time.

Xenon Character Card Effects

Xenon’s character card gives 5/10/20/40 STR, DEX, and LUK. It acts as both a thief and a pirate, so you can put it in either set that you need!

Meso Market Warena

The Meso Market NPC, Warena, has been added to the Free Market! What does she do?

Meso Market UI

You can trade mesos for Maple Points! She sells them for bundles of 100 million mesos, and there is a fluctuating exchange rate. In the picture above, you can trade 100m mesos for 527 Maple Points! There’s also a 10% transaction fee.

In game, in my world at least, it’s 100m for 290 MP.

New Item Inventory

The item inventory has been updated to show your current Maple Points. There’s also a new button the bottom, for the new…

Bits Inventory

Bits system! The Bits system requires you to collect Bits Cases and Bits to put inside them. Each Bits gives a small amount of stats and also gives set effects if you have enough of them, but the Bits’ stats will only apply if you put them inside a Case.

Bits Inventory

You can only have one Case active at a time, and they have different sizes so you might not be able to fit your entire Bits set into a smaller Case.

I’m not sure how to get Bits Cases (they were given to me for free from Cassandra) but you can buy Bits Boxes from the Unlimited Shop which will give you a random Bits.

Squirrel Pets

Let’s get into the Cash Shop now. New Squirrel pets have been added, I think they’re a bit creepy… haha.

Platinum Miracle Cube

The new Platinum Miracle Cube has a higher chance of raising ranks than a Master Miracle Cube (I think GMS calls them Super Cubes?).

Premium Pet Equipment Scrolls

These are Premium Pet Equipment scrolls for attack and magic attack. They give 4~5 attack or magic attack at a 100% chance.

Power Elixir Packages

There are these new Power Elixir packages in which you buy them, receive a certain number of Elixirs, and then gain back the NX you spent in Maple Points. Obviously they can only be bought with NX, although I’m not sure why this exists…

The one above gives 100 Power Elixirs for 10,000 NX (and you’ll get 10,000 Maple Points as well).

Xenontic Package

There was also a new Cash equip package released, the Xenontic package, which costs 24,900 NX. The special thing about the equipment in this set is that they have stats! Yes, the first Cash Shop equipment to have stats (other than the Aura Rings but who buys those anyways…).

If you wear all four equips together, you’ll get 15 to all stats and 5 attack and magic attack.

Premium Water of Life

Finally, my favourite new addition, the Premium Water of Life, which will revive your pet forever! That’s right, you can make any pet permanent~

EDIT: Sorry guys, my translation was completely off. This Water of Life only lets you skip the quests required to revive a pet, it does not make a pet permanent!

World of Eternity, Aether

A new world, Aether, has been released. I’m not going to go over the events because they’re pretty standard, but the name of the world and its logo are pretty cool, haha.

Xenon Limited Gift

The Xenon’s Birth event has begun, and will run until February 15. First off, if you are able to get to level 200 on a Xenon, you will receive a special title!

  • 1st: Plus Almighty Xenon (7 attack and magic attack)
  • 2nd – 20th: Almighty Xenon (5 attack and magic attack)
  • rest: Miracle Xenon (no stats)

Xenon Ring

At level 50, you’ll receive the Xenon Ring. It gives 3 to all stats, 2 attack and magic attack, and an extra 5 attack if you’re a 3rd or 4th job Xenon.

Special Mastery Books

At level 70, you’ll be able to choose one Special Mastery Book~

Equipment Boxes

To help you level up, at the levels above, you’ll receive an equipment box that gives you an Energy Sword as well as the pirate equipment set for that range.

Electronic Shock Bits Box Levels

Finally, at the above levels, you’ll receive a free Electronic Shock Bits Box.

Winter Achievements Season 2

Season 2 of the Winter Achievements has begun. This time the achievements are:

  • Spin the wheel 10 times
  • Complete 10 attendance checks
  • Complete 1 Bits set (not the Orange Mushroom set)
  • Complete the Golden Snake event 5 times
  • Complete the 2013 New Year event 7 times
  • Achieve level 100 on a Xenon character

Achievement Prizes

For each achievement you complete, you’ll get a Winter Achievement Box which can give you Winter Limit coins, scrolls, or the Giant Yeti Chair. If you complete the Xenon achievement, you’ll receive the Charging Required chair~

Glorious Winter Title

If you complete all 6 achievements, you’ll get the Glorious Winter title which gives 7 attack and magic attack! It lasts for 20 days unfortunately.

Moon Riding Sky Bicycle Riding

The Spin the Wheel event has been updated with new items, including new flying mounts!

There are a couple Hot Times for Xenon. The first on January 5 gives you the following at a 100% chance:

      January 2, 2013 at 10:23 pm

How is MapleStory running out of ideas? This is the first Hybrid class in the game to use more than two stats and equip more than two types of weapons. With 100% Unique skill animations, it’s a completely new idea. And do not tell me anything Jett related if you respond.

        January 3, 2013 at 8:08 am

Not unique skills, if you look for a second, you can see there is a mix of Mercedes, Dual Blader and other classes skill animations, but reskinned, yet you’re right this class is really fun and most Maplers are always mumbling about something, don’t like? Quit! Your comments are stupid, unnecessary and displeases all Nexon’s development work!

No matter how you use a lever, whether its a wheel or a pulley, its still a lever.
No matter how you try to create an unique skill that does damage, it’ll still be a skill that deals damage.

Let’s see you come up with an “unique” skill.

Would be nice if this is ever released in GMS (I highly doubt it will be because we dont have the ability to sell Cash items in shops like EMS/KMS/JMS do). If its released it would be nice if the rates fluctuate between 1800~2200 MP per 100M zeny else it will make NX sellers over price their rates as well.

      • Max
        January 3, 2013 at 5:54 am

It doesn’t suck for KMS since their NX is worth more and so is their mesos. Like, you can get cheap ass NX clothes and their NX clothes are all perm too.

Well, they did release these cash shop items called “something – keys” that bypass up to 10 levels of equipments. So if you were Lv. 60, you can actually equip Lv.70 gear – only if you used that key. Am I right? Not sure..

        • Max

    • Anonymous
      June 28, 2013 at 8:50 pm

How is it Jett and Hayato together? Most of the Xenon skills are 3-in-one, it is the first, and currently the only hybrid class in-game, and the only class to use 3 different stats. And also
“Whats next? Nexon making new jobs with three stats/can equip 3 kinds of weapons?!” doesn’t make sense.

I’m curious, how does auto assign work with Xenon?

    • Max
      January 3, 2013 at 11:45 am

There are three different auto assign buttons, one for each of the three stats. You can keep using one until your stat reaches the required level for the most current Multilateral stat that you have, then you’ll have to use the other auto assign buttons or pump in the stats manually (which will give you an annoying message every time if you put into a stat while the other stats dont satisfy Multilateral yet)

The Power Elixir package makes sense to me. It’s another money making scheme! If you buy this, you get a refund, but you can’t use Maple Points for any other game. This makes you have to repurchase 10k NX if you were potentially planning on spending it on another game.

    >>they added an experience penalty if you fight monsters above your level

goddamnit wizet/nexon. have none of you any idea how obnoxious it is for you to penalize people for succeeding at doing something that’s inherently very difficult?

what is with this cancer in the MMO world, telling people they shouldn’t try to be good enough at the game to exceed their character’s theoretical limit?

I don’t care what the margin is on such things, it’s always insulting.

    • January 3, 2013 at 10:13 pm

I think it’s a method to prevent hacking, but it’s not a very good one. Most hacks in maple are monster vac + instakill, so there’s really no point in reducing the exp ._. I think Nexon should focus on a stronger anti-hack guard than reducing exp and making players mad.

    • SneebleDoo
      January 4, 2013 at 9:33 am

i completely agree. It is stupid for them to punish good players. A lot of the people who can kill high level monsters have dedicated a lot of time (and for some: money) becoming as strong as they are.
I was equally detested when the new accuracy based on level system was released. Part of the fun of having an assassin pre big bang was the fact you could attack monsters high above your level without missing. Now all classes have to attack monsters within their level range

well, i guess its official. Nexon is Pay to Win. Granted, the stats on the CS item are not godly by any stretch of the imagination, but, its just first of the few that will probably come out. Soon, nx items will have decent enough stats that it actually matter.

As if the plethora of different tiers of cubes weren’t enough (almost a Pay to Win function), now they officially released nx items with stats.

Eh… game has become too easy, boring, and costly. Only challenge there is are the higher tier bosses, but even than, that gets boring extremely fast.
