kMSt ver. 1.2.454 – November Update & New Thief Resistance, Automata!
A huge patch was released to Tespia including the things for the November update (Demon Slayer and Cannon Shooter reorganization, Resistance and Cannon Shooter Hyper Skills, the new theme dungeon, Monster Park Extreme) as well as some Tempest class nerfs AND the data for the new thief Resistance class, Automata! It looks it will be coming out on December 6! (thanks to Yoon for finding this picture~)
The maximum number of character slots has been increased from 18 to 19. Ok… why not just to 24 or something…?
Party quest entrances have been consolidated to one map for the lower levels and one for the higher. You can now use your arrow keys to control the Dimensional Portal. In addition, some party quest rewards will give set bonuses if worn together~
The new Monster Park Extreme has been added, for characters level 40 to 100. You can participate by entering the new portal in the Monster Park map. It does require separate tickets which you can get through daily quests. The new NPC Spiegella has been added to oversee Monster Park Extreme.
After entering, you’ll fight monsters more powerful than the existing Monster Park and you can gain experience as well as special prizes if you satisfy certain conditions while fighting the boss monsters.
The new theme dungeon Paradise On Earth, Gold Beach has been added~! Characters level 40 and above can go there by talking to Irvine in Lith Harbor. It’s a beach resort owned by Gold Richie, and there you can see his son, Gold Richie Junior!
The monsters are pretty cute, they’re like those slime monsters from Singapore all dressed up as different beach or aquatic animal related things~
The theme dungeon Kerning Square has been reorganized. This includes new NPCs, quests, and a revised storyline!
There’s a couple map changes, such as the lobby which has been completely revamped, as well as some of the monster maps. For example, the floor with CDs now have them spawn on both the bottom and top platform! Even better grinding, hahaha. There’s also an elevator that will take you to whatever floor you want now, instead of you having to walk to each one~

Dark Lightning – Reinforce: Dark Lightning’s damage is increased by 20%.
Dark Lightning – Split Damage: Dark Lightning’s damage is reduced to 1/4, number of hits is increased from 1 to 4.
Dark Lightning – Cooltime Reduce: Dark Lightning’s cooldown is reduced by 100%.
Cyclone – Reinforce: Cyclone’s damage is increased by 20%.
Cyclone – Extra Target: Cyclone’s number of monsters hit is increased by 2.

Epic Adventure: A buff that gives the legendary Adventurers of the Maple World 10% increased damage and the ability to pass the damage cap by 50,000 for 60 seconds. There is a cooldown of 120 seconds. [required level: 200]

Thief Resistance: Automata
The Resistance’s thief has been (slightly) revealed, the Automata! It could also be Automaton I guess, but the Korean ends in 타 which is a ‘ta’ sound. No images or skill effects or even skill data have been released, but we do know the skill strings, which I have translated below.
Automata’s weapon is the Energy Sword, and I believe its secondary weapon is the Energy Collector. He seems to be some sort of Android or robot…
The Automata seems to use a few different systems. The first is the Power Storage, which is a beginner skill. It looks like its just another sort of MP, but it’s only used for three skills I believe (Agility Tuning, Reflection Sensor Link, Critical Point). It also increases your dodge rate based on how many Power Storage you have.
Dodge rate is also important to Automata. Many of its skills increase its dodge rate or give extra effects based on whether or not you dodge an attack. It’s sort of similar to Angelic Burster’s Affinity skills and Recharging, I guess (like not the ‘need to Recharge to use skills’ part).
Finally, there’s the Tactic Selector system. This is sort of new to MapleStory! It lets you switch the effects of some of your skills based on your situation. These skills are Sword Flexible, Combat Mode Switching, Pulseforming Network, and Energy Field Unfold. There are three different ‘modes’ for each of these skills, and they all slightly different effects. For example, Pulseforming Network can either be a strong single target skill, a linear mobbing skill, or an AoE explosion around you! It will be interesting to see how they’ll make each ‘mode’ desirable~
Beginner
- Power Storage: Recover 1 Power Storage after a certain period of time, recover 1 Power Storage after successfully dodging an attack, your dodge rate is increased for each Power Storage you have.
- Frenzy Core: Due to your Frenzy Core, your total damage is increased.
- Gift of Automata: Automata’s talent permanently increases your LUK, and your Insight and Craft to level 20.
- Tank Assault: A tank is called to return you to base.
- Tactic Selector: Change the type of skills you want to use based on the situation. Hold down the skill key to open the Tactic Selector then use the arrow keys to choose the desired type.
- Turn on the Booster: The booster is turned on for a period of time, allowing you to fly.
First Job
- Over Flourish: Swing your Energy Sword in front of you, hitting a large number of enemies.
- Booster Jump: Use your booster to jump forward instantly, up to two times in a row. Afterwards, you can use Turn on the Booster to fly.
- Agility Tuning: Adjusting your agility sensor, your critical chance is increased for a certain period of time. [consumes Power Storage]
- Motion Sensor Link: Link the Motion Sensor, boosting your stats related to movement, increasing your accuracy, dodge rate, speed, maximum speed, and jump. If you fail to dodge an attack, you will attempt to dodge it once more.
Second Job
- Sword Flexible (A): Cut down enemies in front of you quickly with your Energy Sword.
- Sword Flexible (B): Thrust your Energy Sword forward, dealing critical damage to enemies.
- Sword Flexible (C): Jump up, dealing damage to enemies with your Energy Sword. Can be linked to Drag and Drift.
- Drag and Drift: Push and damage enemies in your path by using your boosters. You can hold down your skill key to continue pushing until your Booster Gauge runs out.
- Over Energizing: Use your energy to increase your attack for a certain period of time.
- Additional Power Link: Link to an additional power source to increase your HP and MP for a certain period of time. Passively increase your HP and MP.
- Automata Booster: Increase your attack speed by 2 stages for a certain period of time.
- Luck Monopoly: Permanently increase your LUK.
- Spell Mastery: Increase your mastery and accuracy.
Third Job
- Combat Mode Switching (A): Swing your Energy Sword, exploding energy to deal damage to a large number of enemies.
- Combat Mode Switching (B): While in the air, attack enemies below you. Can be linked to Overcharge Boosting.
- Combat Mode Switching (C): Swing your Energy Sword forward diagonally, dealing damage to enemies in the air.
- Overcharge Boosting: Use your booster to accelerate into enemies, dealing damage, pushing them back, and flying upwards.
- Energy Swift: Plant two bombs, quickly detonating them with your Energy Sword to deal damage to enemies.
- Reflection Sensor Link: Link the Reflection Sensor, increasing your dodge rate sharply. For each attack you dodge, your dodge rate will decrease until you dodge a certain number of attacks, after which your dodge rate will reset. [consumes Power Storage]
- Aegis System: When you dodge an attack, there is a chance to launch a missile at the enemy.
- Airframe Link: When attacking enemies, there is a chance to activate the Airframe. The Airframe attracts the attention of enemies and decreases their accuracy and avoid, stacking up to 3 times. After a certain period of time, the Airframe will self destruct, dealing damage to enemies.
- Reactive Armor: Equip yourself with reactive armor, reducing damage taken and increasing your defense and magic defense.
Fourth Job
- Blade Dancing: Wield your Energy Sword while damaging enemies around you like a dance.
- Pulseforming Network (A): Emit a pulse, dealing massive damage to a single target.
- Pulseforming Network (B): A large number of pulses are emitted in a straight line, dealing massive damage to many enemies.
- Pulseforming Network (C): Emit a pulse around you, creating an explosion that deals massive damage to enemies.
- Energy Field Unfold (A): Deploy an energy field that creates an energy ball that deals damage to enemies within the field.
- Energy Field Unfold (B): Deploy an energy field that creates an energy ball that deals damage to enemies it touches.
- Energy Field Unfold (C): Deploy an energy field that increases your allies’ HP and dodge rate. If allies successfully dodge an attack, recover 1 Power Storage.
- Critical Point: Enhance your strength to its critical point, increasing your damage to bosses. [consumes Power Storage]
- Offensive Matrix: By activating the attack matrix, increase your damage and critical chance for a certain period of time. Passive effect: increase your attack.
- Optic Distortion: By using a light distorting sensor, if you fail to dodge an attack, you can attempt to dodge again. If you are successful, Aegis System will fire more missiles than usual with increased damage and monster’s defense ignored. (required skill: level 20 Aegis System)
- Automata Expert: Increase your mastery over the Energy Sword and Energy Controller, as well as your attack and minimum critical damage.
- Time Capsule: Install a time capsule that distorts time, reducing you and your allies’ cooldowns at a very quick rate, as well as increasing the amount of Power Storage recovered.
- Maple Warrior: Increases the stats of all party members.
- Hero’s Will: Focus your mind to remove any state.
Hyper Skills
- Blade Dancing – Persist Movement: Your movement speed while using Blade Dancing is increased.
- Blade Dancing – Reinforce: Blade Dancing’s damage is increased.
- Blade Dancing – Extra Target: Blade Dancing’s number of monsters hit is increased.
- Pulseforming Network – Reinforce: Pulseforming Network’s damage is increased.
- Pulseforming Network – Add Range: Pulseforming Network’s range is increased.
- Pulseforming Network – Extra Target: Pulseforming Network’s number of monsters hit is increased. However, this is not applicable to when you are hitting only one target.
- Energy Field Unfold – Speed: Energy Field Unfold’s energy ball’s movement speed is increased within the field.
- Energy Field Unfold – Quantity: Energy Field Unfold creates an additional energy ball.
- Energy Field Unfold – Persist: Energy Field Unfold’s duration is increased.
- Ground Zero: Bombard enemies with your tank.
- Nine Tail Jörmungandr: Slash all enemies in front of you, removing their buffs, reducing their defenses, and binding them for a certain period of time.
- Amaranth Engine Operating: The Amaranth Engine provides infinite power for a certain period of time, allowing you to use all skills without consuming any Power Storage. After using this skill, your Power Storage will be immediately filled.

Dear, Motherfucking ignorant bitch-ass
I really don’t understand why people get so butt-hurt over a class receiving a buff to make up for the nerf. I get that people don’t want end up with a weaker class and get KSed by the current “OP class” as so many people like to call them. It’s not that they are overpowered, it is most likely the fact that your character is weak and unfunded or you are just one of those people who get on the internet and complain about a class in a 2D mmorpg that was only buffed to rebuild the population of DSs in the game. I have a Marksman in Khani, and my range is 50k-60k and I haven’t spent a penny on the game.
What I’m saying is that you shouldn’t give a shit about other classes getting buffs. If you’re scared of getting KSed, either get someone to KS em’ back, Get stronger and hunt them down later, Take advantage of the class while they still have the buff, or just stop being a sore-ass bitch who will probably continue to be one even after he reads this and complain about an online game to people who have no power to change anything because he has nothing better to do with his life.
Allow me to give you some advice for the future. If you feel like going on a blog to complain about classes temporarily being strong than yours, then you should probably just void that thought because no one needs to be reminded that said class is “OP” because people see that an uncountable amount of times and frankly put, It’s irritating. Don’t bother with complaining because no one will give the slightest shit about your comment. Keep those thoughts to yourself. Nexon only buffs classes to gain publicity and get more players of that class.

Wow, the Resistance Hyper Skills are so disappointing. I figured since each class already had an ultimate, they would be extremely cool. Guess not. Cannon Shooter’s hyper skill is really nice. I can’t wait to see Automata and what weapon she uses.
yes very disappointing why did ever other class get a boost to their primary attack skill except BaMs that sucks they are stuck with 200% 6 times but other classes get an additional attack,increased attack % and increased critical chance their new attack sucks and they wasted a possibly great skill increase for teleport mastery -_-
Battle Mage gets removed cooldown on Dark Shock and +3 hit counts in exchange for -25% damage. That’s 750% x 4 I think.
Dark Shock is actually reduced TO 1/4, not BY 1/4, it seems its for people who hit near cap, rather than a significant damage boost

It’s on CD now due to the Metamorphosis – Enhance Hyper skill. That way you can’t ignore DR all the time.

Hi Max! I have a couple of aesthetic questions regarding Kaisers.
Firstly, when you change your hair from default do the horns stay? I’m guessing they do but all the videos of Kaisers have them with default hair/face, so I couldn’t be sure.
Secondly, in the extraction thread on SP.net someone Google translated a line as “Demon Slayer, AB and Kaiser can wear cape and made the wings invisible”. If this is true does that mean NX cape = no wings/tail? I’d really love this.

I think the BaM’s Tele Hyper Skills are fine. Personally, I only see the 1sec i-frame as useful out of that trio. Going by the idea of tanking, all a Battle Mage will really need to do is Tele after every attack (if you’re bossing, you can just “up” tele and not go anywhere) and you can avoid a great deal of attacks/effects. When GMS gets these Hypers, I don’t imagine my BaM will be dying very oft, if at all.

There are waaaaaaaaaaay more factors in total damage that you are ignoring here. And if you’re just looking at the new multipliers, cannon shooters got an extra 10% overall passive damage added to one of their skills, besides that you need to look at every, not just one part of each character. That’s pointless.

It doesn’t have the Will of Liberty hyper skill that all the other resistance classes have; instead it has 3 unique hyper skills, like the Nova classes. Is it not possible it’s either a unique class with no group, or possibly intended to be in the Nova’s subgroup?

So I’m guessing Frenzy Core is Automata’s Link skill, right? Because it follows a trend of link skill bonuses. Demon Slayer: 100% Boss Luminous: 10% PDR Phantom: 10% Crit see a connection? these are all bonuses that Nexon seems to consider “equivalent” to each other, and the only one missing is %total damage, which would likely have a lower amount, as because it is considered like double the value of the other 3, so it would likely be 5% total damage.
I have a feeling the Automata is gonna look like one of those robots employed by the Black Wings in Verne mines. Namely Muscat, Zechtok, Dolcetta, etc.

yeah, and Elex wasn’t Demon Slayer’s instructor, so their logic of Claudine being Automata’s intructor is flawed, especially since both Claudine and Elex took up other positions since they did not have Thief and Warrior Resistance members, and, also, if its indeed automata and not automaton, then it sounds like it could be a name, making it a singular character. (Demon Slayer is the ONLY exception to singular characters having names and nonsingular ones having titles, and he is a singular character with a title, so there has never been a nonsingular character with a name (and by the way, Demon Slayer not having an official name doesn;t make sense, since all the other commanders are refferred to ONLY by name (except Hilla, the Necromancer, Von Leon, the Lion King, Orchid, the Wing Master, and Lotus, the Black Master, but at least THEY are refferred to by name Arkarium and Magnus never had a job title)) Anyway, since Elex is busy instructing the recruits, and Claudine is busy leading the Resistance (dude, there is no way you could train people for a job, AND lead a fairly large and likely not very sophisticated organization)

Switching between single-target, multi-target and AoE all with one skill would significantly increase flexibility that traditionally has been supplied only through multiple, different skills. 🙂
The only time you need multi-target is Von Leon and Cygnus (maybe Akyrum if you’re a magician class).

Shadowers used to be exceptionally unique with meso explosion because of the wall of hits, but now we have so many classes like kaiser and luminous that are capable of doing that. -Invincibility makes Teleport useless as an attack. It helps people who boss, but is useless for people who fight regular monsters.
-Union Aura is disappointing.. Instead of getting some new buff instead we just get a boost to Body Boost.
Wish we had gotten the +2 targets to Teleport instead of the invincibility; at least that would be worth getting.
2 more targets on a skill that is hardly used would be worthless, while invincibility can be used to ignore weaker enemies or dodge hits from monsters. also using it to kill weaker monsters would be it’s only use but it already hits enough monsters especially since dark chain or now dark lightning could do a better job in most cases. It is pretty much a epic dodge skill that is easy to activate including the fact it takes about a second or less to use teleport and will be like a legit god mode if you use it in place. Taking off the damage of teleport could be a con, but it’s not as if it was our best skill. I’m only assuming its complete invincibility and not ignored by magnus or azwan.
The only thing i agree with you is Union Aura it’s pathetic. It only increases the duration of a skill we already have and doesn’t make up for it in increasing damage cap. It would’ve been a whole new aura or increase all the auras we already have like a adv body boost. If it was a whole new aura it could increase amount of hits, damage cap, def. It isn’t a good skill a longer duration on body boost is only so good.

Automata is evil, or black wing will build copies of Automata. I am basing this off the fact that in Neo City, the future of maplestory, there is a monster called Iruvata. I think this monster used to be half human since it human like appearance, and of course most of the robots look like robots not humans(just look at rooby or the other robots of Neo City). And also the big tip of this, Iruvata has an energy sword on here arm. This could all just be my own imagination, but what do you think. Also, almost forgot, the final angel bosses on Neo city, since they are the same as Iruvata, human like and have an energy sword.
What does Iruvata have to do with Automata?
A robotic human with an energy sword, I don’t know how you don’t see this. That is what automata is so far, until art comes out that is all we know. And since Neo city is a future maplestory there can be many possiblities.

And that’s part of why I stopped keeping up with MapleStory stuff. In addition to the pay to win nature of the game, and the excesses of both greed and power creep institutionalized by Nexon, the biggest turn off in the game is the envious green eyed monsters who won’t be happy until ever class (but theirs) is nerfed down to absolute suckage.
Automaton looks pretty cool, and I’ll be checking back to see what him and his skills look like, but it’s still not enough to make up for the insufferable community that Nexon caters to with one nerf after another, while knowing full well they’ll just buff everything up again in a few months.

so, Max, after your post about character relationships, I decided to pay a bit closer attention to the words said during quests, as long as I’ve been playing maple, I honestly I used to keep clicking and kind of go into “just shut up and give me xp” mode. So, I was bored, and decided to make a resistance character today, ended up making a wild hunter. In that one scene where you free that girl from the cave, when you go inside the cave to check for your friends, I noticed that the mad scientist guy may have been talking about automata. I play in GMS, but he was talking about some endless supply of fuel, joining the black wings to be a good choice and finally “That android the black wings wanted will soon be complete.” The character in the central chamber in that scene appears to have a blue tail and wings, seems like too much of a coincidence to be unrelated. xD

I think this is just one of those things that you overlook until you have a reason. xD

Great observation !
In thinking along of the lines of maybe the standard creation story. Like, who am I, What am i, you know, a search for self discovery or something. Maybe fighting against what he was created to do, and In that fight joining the resistance to destroy what created him in the first place. It’s cool how maple has always had underlying things like this before the release of a lot of it’s classes.

Hey Max, can you clarify BaM’s teleport mastery hyper skill?
It says that the damage will be increased, but when it is enhanced you gain invincibility and the damage is removed. My question: does Teleport Mastery does any damage anymore, or is it just for invincibility? Thanks in advance.

Hey Max, just out of curiosity, I’m wondering why does the Dark Metamorphosis damage increase is from 150% to 250%? I don’t remember any changes that increase from the current +35% damage in GMS =X
It’s talking about the damage it does to nearby enemies
Oh okay, then regarding about the damage increase of 20% from the hyper skill, does it refer to range damage or mob damage? >.<
