kMSt ver. 1.2.476 – Anniversary Events and New Areas!

10th Anniversary World Selection Screen

A Tespia patch including the 10th anniversary events, some Soul Master skill changes, as well as two new (well actually one, the other isn’t exactly new) areas! There were also some changes that will make high levels happy, so read on!

Oh yeah, we now know the date of the update as well as another date that might interest you!

10th Anniversary Patch Dates

On April 25, the 10th anniversary events will begin as well as the release of the updated Soul Master.

What’s more interesting however, is that it says on May 19, MapleStory’s new history will begin!! More information will be released soon apparently… I wonder what it could be, I’m excited!

10 Years Coming Soon

This poster was released on the GM Blog on the homepage, it says:

10 years!

With MapleStory’s 10th anniversary,
they begin to move…

Coming Soon

So weird… and sort of creepy haha.

Chaos Root Abyss Bosses

Chaos Root Abyss bosses’ clear system has been changed. They now reset every Thursday instead of daily, and if you exhaust your Death Count but your remaining party kills them, it will count as a clear for you.

Experience

The experience penalty when fighting monsters below your level has been removed! Finally, high levels can train! However, fighting monsters 20 levels or more above you will still result in a penalty.

Zakum

An Easy Mode has been added for Zakum! You can talk to the third job advancers in El Nath to fight the Weakened Zakum, who will drop some of the rewards that regular Zakum drops. You can fight him two times per day.

Zakum’s Helmet has also lost its ‘unique item’ tag, you can now hold more than one at a time.

Base Evolving Dungeon Monsters

The experience for Evolving System monsters has been increased! Yay, maybe they realized the exp nerfs from a couple of patches back was too severe.

Quiet Corridor 1 (Faded Specters)

A new level 130 hunting area, called Faded Citadel has been added! For most of you, it should be familiar, it uses the monsters from Crimsonwood Keep! You can access it through Sharp Cliffs 4 in El Nath. This area is definitely not done, there are no quests and some monsters are missing that were added in the data (Typhoons, Bigfoot).

I’ll list the maps as well as the monsters in them (if I have already named them, I won’t the next time they appear).

Faded Walls 1 (Archer Ghost, Warrior Ghost)

Faded Walls 2 (Thief Ghost, Magician Ghost)

Faded Walls 3 (Pirate Ghost)

It also includes three party play maps, featuring the Crimsonwood Keep party quest bosses (which are free spawning regular monsters here).

Colossus the Giant World Map

A new level 150 theme dungeon, Colussus the Giant, has been added and can be accessed from Forest’s Crossroad in Leafre.

Mantis Blood Mantis Poison Mantis Flora Dark Flora Hornet Poison Hornet General Hornet Tainted Tree Spirit Fallen Tree Spirit Tainted Stone Spirit Fallen Stone Spirit Tarantulus

Here are the monsters you’ll find in Colossus. The last is Tarantulus, the boss! Look at the mark on its forehead, doesn’t it look familiar? I think this place has a lot to do with Damian and the Black Mage, there was even a Guwaru NPC added, and don’t some of these mobs seem very Guwaru-esque?

Balalio

A new NPC called Balalio has been added that lets you use the Carpenter’s Soul skill to scroll items for free.

Renewed Cash Shop

The Cash Shop has been renewed! Finally, we had that 800×600 one for so long, I think this one looks great~ Patch notes say you can create your own customized packages, but I’m not sure how that works.

Thanks to Spadow for the screenshot!

MapleStory Cygnus Returns Soul Master

Soul Masters have had some skill changes, they’re actually almost all nerfs surprisingly.

  • Elemental Expert Elemental Expert (beginner): elemental property reduction is halved on Soul Master (50% instead of 100%)
  • Triple Slash Triple Slash (1st): damage has been decreased from 110% to 90%
  • Silent Move Silent Move (2nd): damage has been decreased from 245% to 170%
  • Loud Rush Loud Rush (2nd): damage has been decreased from 245% to 170%
  • Trace Cut Trace Cut (2nd): damage has been decreased from 170% to 130%
  • Shadow Burn Shadow Burn (2nd): damage has been decreased from 170% to 130%
  • Sword Mastery Sword Mastery (2nd): existing skill Two-Handed Sword Mastery has been changed to this
  • Moon Shadow Moon Shadow (3rd): damage has been decreased from 265% to 215%
  • Light Flux Light Flux (3rd): damage has been decreased from 350% to 320%
  • Moon Cross Moon Cross (3rd): damage has been decreased from 205% to 155%
  • Sun Cross Sun Cross (3rd): damage has been decreased from 350% to 290%
  • True Sight True Sight (3rd): monster’s defense and elemental resistance reduction has been decreased from 20% to 10%
  • Dance of Moon Dance of Moon (4th): damage has been decreased from 600% to 360%, number of hits has been decreased from 4 to 3, attacking speed has been increased
  • Speeding Sunset Speeding Sunset (4th): damage has been decreased from 600% to 360%, number of hits has been decreased from 4 to 3, attacking speed has been increased
  • Crescent Divide Crescent Divide (4th): damage has been decreased from 395% to 295%
  • Solar Pierce Solar Pierce (4th): damage has been decreased from 395% to 295%
  • Sword Expert Sword Expert (4th): existing skill Two-Handed Sword Expert has been changed to this
  • Unforeseeable Unforeseeable (4th): amount of monster’s defense ignored has been decreased from 50% to 30%

Maple New Friend Title

Let’s talk about the anniversary now! There are many events and I will be going over all of them, however some events I have not done yet so there won’t be pictures. First of all, when you log in, you will receive a Maple N Year title, N being the amount of years your account has existed.

Maple Friendship

You can get it ‘signed’ by your friends to collect Friend Points, which you can trade in for prizes.

Admin Balloon

In towns, the Admin Balloon may spawn, and you can defeat it to receive the Operator’s Letter as well as 10th Anniversary Gift Boxes.

10th Anniversary Achievements

10th anniversary achievements have been added! Participate in events and complete them in order to get a medal and a title!

10th Anniversary Attendance Check

There is also a 10th anniversary attendance check, where you must kill 200 monsters per day. As you can see, you will get stuff like 10th Anniversary Coins, Special Potential Scroll, 2 Star Enhancement Scroll, 50% Gold Hammer, and finally the 50% Unique Potential scroll!

Let's Go! Mesorangers!

My absolute favourite of these events is the Let’s Go! Mesorangers! event, it’s actually so fun. You can get invited every 15 minutes where you will be grouped with other people to fight against an evil robot. However, to fight it, you must play a rhythm game, sort of like Dance Dance Revolution on a keyboard, haha.

Let's Go! Mesorangers! Difficulty

You can choose your difficulty, but at first you can only access Easy. As you play and get good grades, you can unlock the others.

There is something called Survival! Maple Marble! which I  assume is another minigame like Let’s Go! Mesorangers! but I haven’t been able to do it yet so I don’t know what it is.

10th Anniversary Memorial Park

The Maple Tree event sends invitations from 4pm to 8pm, inviting you to Maple Park, where you will receive a special buff. You can also wait 5 more minutes to get a special gift.

10th Anniversary Maple Leaves

Cassandra will also ask you to collect Maple Tree Seeds from monsters, and she will give you Maple Leaves in return! You can do this a maximum of 5 times per day, and each consecutive time, you will receive more leaves than before~

10th Anniversary Coin

The 10th Anniversary Shop has opened! You can spend your 10th Anniversary Coins there to buy a variety of items, including the 10th anniversary set!

10th Anniversary White Set

Speaking of which, this year there are two anniversary sets which consist of a hat, face accessory, overall, cape, pendant,  belt, and weapon. Big thanks to 기획팀 of Maple Inven for the pictures of all these items! For reference, 공격력 is attack, 마력 is magic attack, and the last line on each item is the number of slots.

One is the 10th Anniversary White set for level 10, it has the following set effects (note: the face accessory is not included in the set):

  • 4 set effect: 300 HP and MP, 5 attack and magic attack, 200 accuracy and avoid
  • 6 set effect: 10 all stats, 10 attack and magic attack

You can see the weapons here.

10th Anniversary Black Set

The 10th Anniversary Black set is for level 110, and has the same components. This one has the following set effects:

  • 4 set effect: 500 HP and MP, 7 attack and magic attack, 300 accuracy and avoid
  • 6 set effect: 12 all stats, 12 attack and magic attack

You can see the weapons here.

The highest level is a level 223 Xenon with 53,257,078,162 exp. To compare, the second highest is a level 217 Xenon with 14,941,471,543 exp.

    April 18, 2013 at 9:27 pm

I’m a little dissapointed with the events, and how they keep adding shop in order to actually buy maple equipment/weapons…..it’s tedious collection those coins and knowing Nexon they will probably be worth 40-50 coins each……

Also this — “The experience for Evolving System monsters has been increased! Yay, maybe they realized the exp nerfs from a couple of patches back was too severe.”

Please tell me it’s back to what it used to be???? Otherwise I’m staying with GMS, I quit KMS awhile back when they nerfed the exp…..They should be making it easier to lv and not harder.

You said they removed the EXP penalty, but did they remove the drop penalty as well?

    • Anonymous
      April 18, 2013 at 9:34 pm

Also, they’re Typhons, not Typhoons 😛

    • Max
      April 18, 2013 at 9:44 pm

It doesn’t mention the drop penalty in the patch notes so I think it’s still there.

      • DFH
        April 19, 2013 at 8:19 am

Please go kill some mobs that are under your level, if they drop meso bags then the drop penalty is gone….

it would not make sense to just remove the exp penalty… who kills stuff under 20 levels from you to train anyway?

“The experience penalty when fighting monsters below your level has been removed! Finally, high levels can train!”

        • Anonymous
          April 20, 2013 at 9:59 pm

well, there aren’t really that many good monsters to train on after a certain level. i think that what max meant was that level 190’s had exp reductions at HoH or something.

  22. April 19, 2013 at 1:08 am

What do you think will happen with Crimsonwood Keep now? It had a nice story before NLC got destroyed.

    • KMS
      April 19, 2013 at 2:25 am

KMS never had New Leaf City or Crimsonwood keep before. I doubt GMS will copy this, just as GMS didn’t copy KMS dumb fantasy theme park

      • Bob
        April 19, 2013 at 3:23 pm

Not really true. GMS most likely didn’t add Fantasy Park because it wasn’t that great. Our hats are better as well. We are most likely getting this patch because it has new Maps and also a party Zone training spot.

Sadly this will probably come to GMS only next year =(

Max, i am confuse about the soul master’s Element Expert. It says in your previous soul master post “Elemental Expert: Your mastery over the elements decreases all your attacking skills’ elemental properties by 100%. This skill is unlocked after your fourth job advancement.” while this post says “elemental resistance ignore is halved on Soul Master (50% instead of 100%)”… does element reset decrease elemental attacks or resistance?

    • Max
      April 19, 2013 at 3:57 pm

If I look closely at the picture for May 17, I see a Bunny Suit. It looks like someone most of us know, Tory, the Moon Cake PQ NPC. Does this mean that we are getting a new Revamp on all the maps of Victoria island? I can’t wait for these next weeks. Hope KMS shows more and more of the picture so we can predict what might be coming.

Hey Max! How do you get your Screen Shots? Because for me, I use scroll lock, but all the SS that comes from that are such crap quality. How are yours so crisp and clear? Like your Maple Tree Event SS [Which is very beautiful btw :D] Is it from Print Screen? I dont like to use that because I have to crop out my desktop and the fact that Im bad at cropping makes it even worse. Any tips? What do you use?

    • Max
      April 19, 2013 at 9:06 pm

      I use Fraps 🙂

By the way you can just use alt+print screen to screenshot only the window that you have open, so no cropping needed lol.

Also your observation is incorrect; Taiko no Tatsujin have only two different inputs, red (yellow) or blue. Directional arrows are more like DDR (or more accurately a DDR emulator played with a keyboard)

Strangely enough some guy said the exact same thing in Japanese when s/he saw the same screenshot :/ Maybe its a TNT/DDR hybrid 🙂

Just saying, on the keyboard, TNT technically has 4 inputs: left hand outside, left hand inside, right hand inside, and right hand outside.

You DO realise that 1. there’s already many times more low leveled content than the amount Maplestory ACTUALLY needs, and 2. until the past 6 or so months, they made like 2 high leveled contents since chaos and like 20+ low leveled, 3. you spend the most time in higher levels, 4. theres already enough low level content to, like, QUEST your way to level 80, while there’s less than 1% of the quest exp needed to reach level 160, 5. you can’t ACTUALLY call it high leveled content unless its for 150+ and last I checked, this is for 130+, which you can get to in less than a week of gameplay and lastly, 6. other than neo city, this seems to be the ONLY theme dungeon for players 120+, so quit complaining about there being too much high leveled content

How do you get these rings? Do you think they will be released in GMS?

    Bob :
Not really true. GMS most likely didn’t add Fantasy Park because it wasn’t that great. Our hats are better as well. We are most likely getting this patch because it has new Maps and also a party Zone training spot.

I believe GMS sidn’t get Fantastic Park because it already had Taiga and Scalion in NLC.
Granted, Neo Tokyo originated in JMS and was ported as Neo City to other versions like KMS and GMS, yet the Neo City data was translated (again) and backported into JMS client. Hence the Time Traveler’s Pocket Watch from the Neo City quest drops from Griffey and Chaos Griffey even though we still have Neo Tokyo, not Neo City.
So it’s entirely possible to have duplicate (conflicting) areas in one client :/

So, Soul Masters can now wield 1H and shield as well as 2H?
Also, that is the hardest (frankly, most deserved) nerf of all time in Maple to date o_ó

“The experience penalty when fighting monsters below your level has been removed! Finally, high levels can train! However, fighting monsters 20 levels or more above you will still result in a penalty.” do you know how much the penalty is? about 15% exp deduct? or mayb something like 50%?

Max, about the new Colossus areas with those new monsters: one of those maps is a Party training area right? I want to know if it is true, and which one is the party map (also what monsters will be there).

Sorry if im asking too much XD I’m really interested about that, because this will mean that we will have other options after level 150 instead LHC 😀

The last time they mention something about history, they gave us that shitty patch called “Power Creep Unlimited”. I wonder what they are giving us this time… Maybe a 1b damage cap and 3 new rank of potential beyond Legendary? And hopefully *sarcasm* some new and more expensive cubes on cash shop…?

Doubt it. If anything, they have probably realized from the survey that most people are against their decisions.

Hey everyone! I just redeemed a $25 RP code from this http://getriotpoints.info website! I was a bit skeptical at first, but it worked out pretty well! Give it a try, you won’t regret it!
    Have a nice day!

Aw, this was an exceptionally good post. Taking the time
and actual effort to generate a superb article… but what
can I say… I put things off a whole lot and never manage to get anything done.

Nice blog! Is your theme custom made or did you download it
from somewhere? A design like yours with a few simple tweeks would really make
my blog stand out. Please let me know where you got your theme.
    Kudos

Hi there just wanted to give you a brief heads up and let
you know a few of the images aren’t loading properly.

I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue.
I’ve tried it in two different internet browsers and both show the same outcome.
