kMSt ver. 1.2.477 – Skill Changes and New Theme Dungeon, Crimsonwood PQ!

Crimsonwood Citadel Office

A new patch has been released in Tespia, this time it actually brings significant content! Along with minor skill changes for many classes (no Adventurers sadly…), Battlemage and Wild Hunter were adjusted quite a bit! They have a bunch of new skills and a lot were removed.

In addition, there is a new theme dungeon and a new party quest available and some other content that might interest you, read on!

Link Management UI

In order to make Link Skills more convenient, everyone first job or higher has received the beginner skill Link Management Link Management. Using this skill will let you see all your Link Skills to quickly move them through your account. They have also added a limit of 12 Link Skills per character (meaning that is the maximum you can have at one time).

2nd Password Reorganization

The 2nd password UI has been reorganized! In addition, your second password must now include three of the following: numbers, lowercase letters, uppercase letters, special characters. It must be 6 ~ 16 characters long and you cannot repeat the same character 3 times in a row.

Autopilot Riding

A new Autopilot Riding system has been added to go along with the Navigation system! You can now choose to pay a small fee (1500 mesos) in order to have your character move by itself to the map you wish to go to (I believe it only works in Victoria Island at the moment).

Resurrection of the Hob King

The clear experience of the Ice Knight’s Curse and Resurrection of the Hob King party quests has been increased.

The amount of party quest items required to get the special equipment from Moon Bunny’s Rice Cake, Resurrection of the Hob King, and Traces of the Goddess have been decreased.

Fairy Academy Ellinel

A new theme dungeon for levels 30 and above, Fairy Academy Ellinel has been added! You can access it through Northern Woods: Giant Tree after talking to Pansy.

Firefly Slime Fairy Slime Water Element Tree Element Mystic Wisp Basic Spellbook Advanced Spellbook Onion Turnip Mole King

Here are the monsters for this area, I think they look much better than the ones they made for Colossus the Giant.

Fairy Academy Items

You can get some new items from here, including the Fairy Academy Honorary Teacher medal (2 to all stats, 120 HP and MP), Ellinel’s Bracelet (1 attack and magic attack, 5 slots), and Ellinel’s Wings (10 avoid, 5 speed, 3 slots). There’s also a scroll for the wings that give 1 to all stats at a 100% rate.

Crimsonwood Citadel Underworld

A new party quest, The Altar of Masteria has been added! It takes place in the theme dungeon Crimsonwood Citadel and requires 3 ~ 5 people levels 130~200 (I think it will be 250 in the real server though). The more diverse your party is, the more rewards you will receive. It can only be accessed once you have completed the quest “The Road to the Underworld”.

Master Red Nirg Master Margana Master Rellik Master Hsalf Master Jackson

From what I can see in the data, it involves two jump quest maps called the Seal Rooms, where you must unlock the 5 Hero Statues while avoiding the giant pillars. I’m not sure if it requires the 5 jobs in your party though, probably not. After that, you’ll fight the five Crimsonwood Masters, each in their own room.

Crimsonwood Citadel Office

What’s interesting is that there is the same room as in GMS, with the map outlining Versal’s attack on Masteria, it even has Naricain! Currently, kMS does not have anything other than Crimsonwood Citadel, which is much different than what is shown. It’s possible this might just be a place holder. We have the bonus room as well, with many chests.

Masteria Shoulderpad

I believe if you do this you can get the One who Seeks Masteria medal which gives 7 to all stats and 1 attack and magic attack.

There’s also the Masteria Shoulderpad, it has two versions. One is level 13 and gives 6 to all stats, 3 attack and magic attack, with 1 slot (but it’s time limited). The other is level 130 and gives 5 to all stats, 4 attack and magic attack with 0 slots. It does not expire but neither of them can have potential.

Battlemage Wild Hunter

Let’s go through the skill changes now! First off will be the simple ones and after that, I’ll outline the removed skills for Battlemage and Wild Hunter and then their new skills.

In terms of mastery books, Finish Blow will turn into Prime Blow, Dark Genesis will turn into Crushing Hand, and Flash Rain will turn into Assistant Hunting Unit. There will be a new book for Staff Expert and Advanced Dark Aura/Advanced Yellow Aura books will become useless.

That, and I’m pretty sure they’re holding adventures for the 19th of May. Big Bang surely changed MapleStory in one of the biggest way. Only way to top that is to do Big Bang 2 with massive changes to adventures because that’s were *most* of us all started from.

I know right? I hate the attacking hyper skill.
It would be 600x cooler if that turned /mir/ into that dragon for 30 seconds doing more damage.
Not a freaking summon though. I mean look at arans, he can spam his. And it’s SO COOL!
Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the animation. But the damage and effect it does? No thank you.

I really don’t seem to want the second PIN thing…if it’s completely necessary. If it’s optional, that’d be great in some cases.

      • Narwhal
        May 17, 2013 at 2:57 am

He didn’t say a second PIN. “It’s a replacement for the secondary password” AKA they are changing the pin system again. Not a big deal, especially since that keyboard looks easier to use.

I dunno… I sort of like it. Less “mage”, more “battle”, and replacing that random “dark” vibe they had with the ol’ Edelstein “Steampunk-ish” theme. I guess the whole “rock fist” thing is still kind of weird though…

      • Emily
        May 17, 2013 at 1:01 am

        I liked the dark effect
Like what if it turned out that the way of the battle mage was created by the black mage.
Wouldn’t that be cool? to learn that the way you fight was intended for bad?
Idk JUST STORYLINES. And like sooner or later they’ll make a black mage boss and you’ll need 1 of every class LOL THAT’D BE HORRIBLE FINDING EVERYONE. Good idea though!

Not very impressed with the battlemage changes. Do the skills 1st blow, 2nd blow, 3rd blow, prime blow chain together like it does now with triple blow skills? if it doesn’t then they have ruined battlemages by taking away what made them unique initially 😡 the skills they gave to battlemages just sound like another run of the mill hit multiple unit skills…

    • Max
      May 16, 2013 at 8:01 pm

I believe if you spam a Blow, it will randomly choose between that one and any of the ones below. (e.g. hold down Prime Blow and it will do random combinations of Prime Blow, Third Blow, Second Blow, and First Blow).

      • Kenny

I have question about the Battle Mage Hyper Skill:
“Another Blow: Hit up to 8 enemies with a giant staff for 330% damage 6 times. Prime Blow will automatically be activated afterwards. [required level: 170]”
Does that mean I hotkey Another Blow, and it automatically does Another Blow, followed by Prime Blow?

Max does the Battle Mage still have it’s Dark element for attacking or did they remove it so it doesn’t have any problem with Dark Monsters with future bosses (Hilla,Magnus etc.)?

    • Anonymous
      May 16, 2013 at 11:10 pm

They never HAD a dark element.

      • Mobius
        May 17, 2013 at 2:59 am

Then why does Hilla resist a lot of my dmg range with ONLY my Battle Mage, I have no problem with other mages.

        • Anonymous
          May 17, 2013 at 3:02 am

Hills resists around 90% of my damage on my Evan
I usually hit 400-600k with illusion, and on her it’s pretty much 40k’s.
Battle mages don’t have a dark element. I don’t even think a dark element /exists/ in MapleStory.

          • Dark Evan
            May 17, 2013 at 12:41 pm

Actually, the following Evan skills are Dark Element: Dark Fog, Phantom Imprint/Ghost Lettering, and Killer Wings/Killing Wings. You can tell because if you use them on, say, Skelegons, the damage is less without Elemental Decrease than it is with Elemental Decrease, meaning that they resist Dark Fog/Phantom Imprint/Killer Wing’s element, however, you will still do full damage with Illusion, implying that they are not resistant to the Physical element, as well as implying that those 3 skills are not Physical Elemental

        • Anonymous
          May 17, 2013 at 7:35 am

Other mages (except Bishop) have elemental reset. Hilla resists every element and physical damage, which is why you do reduced damage to her.

Mobius, What he said is correct. There is not such thing as Dark Type. It is called Physical type. The reason why all jobs does half on hillia is because of this.

Wrong! There is a Dark type, but only Evans have it, with their Phantom Imprint, Killer Wings, and Dark Fog. All Battle Mage, Dark Knight, Demon Slayer, Demon Avenger, and Night Walker skills, as well as Eckhart’s Vampire, Eckhart’s Darkness, and Phantom Blow, and any other skill save for those three Evan skills, are neutral even if they look like Dark Element, but to say that there is no Dark Element is wrong, to say that Battle Mages don’t actually use the Dark Element is more accurate.

The battlemage revamp leaves me with mixed feelings.
We get some things I’ve always wanted: high mastery, more movement speed, hyper increases to our main attack…

But…just, my GOD, those animations are terrible… the fists are stupid as hell…why not save those for a Nova Mage or something and make it earth based? It doens’t make sense. And the sound, omfg, it’s a dual blade. I’m going to have to play with sound off now.

The attack system is ok. I can get used to it. I can deal with the changes to BKB, somewhat…though I’ll miss the range on that thing. It was the most fun skill I had…

But WHY those animations?! It looks terrible. Like…seriously, it looks hideous. The auras look worse than the very first ones, the staff skills look out of place… we don’t even feel liek the same class… *sigh*

    • Emily

Battle mages never looked like bow masters… Bow masters never looked “darkish!”

      BM= bow master

And also, the old animations were also staves. These new ones look more like spears..

May as well delete my BaM…Not really interesting in this new one. Why revamp BaM though? Had plenty fine damage, a set ‘dark’ theme…Lost all the mob control/mobility with chains being replaced to…a push? Why would a close range character push and not follow? Nerfed his attack speed by a stage from booster, and “Prime Blow” seems quite a bit slower than “Finishing Blow”. At least Cyclone is still around.

Oh well though. Yay for Merc and I hope they give Phantom a buff like Aran/Evan got soon. Poor guy really is bottom of the rung by far now.

i kinda like the new hypers and skill changes for WH, finally they will remove those stupid drills ¬¬ and i feel they lack now of a whole screen attack skill =/
But… Battle mages in the other hand now look ridiculous, i mean they changed the things i liked about the class, the auras now have rainbow colours… :puke:, i mean they are battle mages but they “summon” a tech staff and a STONE HAND? jesus christ!!!
Bams now are somekind of summoners and to complete the bullshit they removed dark chains… im used to shout “GET OVER HERE” like MK’s scorpion when i press that skill T,T
why whould u want to use “a stone hand” to push away from u mobs when u r a melee class ¬¬
I even though to reach lvl 170 with my BaM for the union aura and BKB hypers, bcuz they look really nice, but now i will consider to just delete it… (-_-)
The worse thing is they kept the other skills animations related to the staff thing, now obviously they attack faster but at which price…

I have a question about Additional Blow.
From what I’ve seen from a demonstration video, it looks like Additional Blow activates AFTER the use of one of the other blow skills. But here you write that after using AB, Prime Blow activates.
So does using AB activate PB afterwards? Or does using any other blow activate AB afterwards?

So basically, xenon got raped. I know goon lim quit but I wonder how much his damage was hurt by this. I wonder if he even hits 80% of his damage before this nerf. Perhaps he knew about this and that’s why he quit. Honestly nexon just releases an ungodly powerful class then nerfs it majorly in time for the next class to come out to be the new king of damage. Xenon had the description “ultimate fighting machine” or something along those lines. Leave it the hell alone and balance other classes. Very VERY few people will ever hit what Goon Lim hit, so it’s not like you need to nerf the shit out of very class after its release.

    • Anonymous
      May 19, 2013 at 8:52 pm

The fact it got nerfed wasn’t too much of a problem. The fact that they nerf each new class badly (except classes like Mikhail) and then release a class that is stronger than what the nerfed class used to be (except kaiser).

Who said we got faster? Look the staff booster how they cahnge from 2 stages to 1 stage only. And if they want to make it faster, just change the attack speed on staff to normal attack speed instead of SLOW. Mostly all the staff have SLOW attack speed.

We never ask to be so fast..if we want to be faster,we already had staff booster, yellow aura and some other buff and we can arrange and trying to get inner ability that’s adding atatck speed.

Now Nexon has changed us to BATTLE FISTING. It’s not mage at all..we lost all our main skill. Ans how the stupid fugleh animation ruin us. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS IF U HAVE GANGNAM STYLE CODER, ART & GRAPHIC GAME PROGRAMMER:

Battlemage Solutions (that are highly feasible for implementation):

    1. Grasping Hand + Crushing Hand are “summons”. They automatically trigger on nearby enemies. This makes Battlemages similar to other mages with summons. No one will cast the the Hands if the Blows are the main attacks but when combined, it will look awesome and powerful.

    2. Force Hand needs automatic teleport implemented in (similar to the warrior Rush). Instead of pulling, Battlemages can rather push and gather mobs.

    3. Return the active skill Dark Genesis (or design something similar) as a level 200 Hyper Skill with suitable impressive damage.

I’m sure the above won’t take too much programming effort and won’t waste any of the hard work already invested into the revamp. It’s a pity the Koreans won’t take note of this site…

      • Anonymous

They SHOULD change them. It should be about the ores. Make them draw in enemies like Chains (with extra hits) in second job, replace the third job one with something else. The fourth job one should be removed completely with a fast attacking skill (that ignores staff speed).

People what is it with all the hate? The battle mage is better now. better range and it can hit more monsters now. It has increased range so why pulling. And to those complaining about the removal of their hyper skill. Have you seem the speed of the new skill combine with the 4th one… And what’s wrong with the aura’s. Also the animations are just fine. I like them and if it was for that. none of you would play with an angelic buster. Idk why people are so afraid of change… the battle mage just became better..

    • Anonymous
      May 18, 2013 at 9:40 pm

I think the reason they’re complaining is because they’re only looking at the animations, and not how they’re demonstrated *properly*. Heck, some people on here didn’t bother to read (or just illiterate) some of the changes in the description. Damage %’s are increased in their main attack significantly.

Auras are exactly the same as they are right now in GMS. People saw that booster got decreased from 2 to 1 stage. BUT they didn’t see that Refine Green gives them an extra stage. By 4th job advancement, your attack speed is the same as the current BaM (3 stages). That’s not bad. So Auras are pretty much the same as they are now, just with the extra attack speed boost (and to your party members!).

Basically, people are exaggerating about the new animations/change.

      • Anonymous
        May 19, 2013 at 5:31 am

Illiterate? Just because we prefer the old Battlemage animations over the new? As the previous Anon poster says, it’s like a new class… it’s really not the same. The darkness element was one of the appeals of the BaM. Maybe the stats are better which IS good… but why change the animations? Dark Genesis was one of my favorites, and now they want to take it away?
Sorry I don’t like the new look and just lost my appetite for the Bam now.

    • May 18, 2013 at 11:57 pm

My only reason to not like the new BaM is because it seems to play differently than before. I liked battle mage how it was, and how it played. I thought the skills looked fine, the class functioned fine, and damage didn’t really matter. I have no issue with the new one, but it isn’t the BaM I’m used to playing, and not one I’m really interested in playing. I won’t say I hate it though, it’s just a new class that’s coming out that doesn’t look that entertaining to me.

I’m not sure if that’s everyone’s reason but, it’s mine and at least a few others.

  104. Pitk
    May 18, 2013 at 8:24 pm

Oh and another about the revamps. I like the idea that adventurers are last since wizet always makes the next class better. if you see the first skill changes done to the warrior mage and bowman they are good but compare to the new ones they are worse. so what comes last its most of the times better.

Effect unchanged but max level doubled on superbody makes me think they made it self maintainable… As for the new skills and removing dark gen, and the chains… well I haven’t been playing my BaM much anyways, now I don’t have to feel bad about it.

In all seriously if it was a new class the staff attacks aren’t bad animations, but the fists… how does that suit battle mage? A melee steam-punk mage, I don’t see the relation to rock fists. Replacing the attacks was probably a better idea then their constant buffing of it in weird ways (greater range then the skill appeared insanely high attack speed.) but… at least try to keep it true to its roots, and don’t toss in a booster nerf while your at it.

As for auras… anyone else think it sounds like the advanced forms effects are ONLY on the BaM? They wording seems off, compared to how they used to be and how the non-advanced are. Just a thought.

Anybody realised that there seems to be a dmg LOSS with this new BaM revamp? Currently, FB+BKB = (6×200) + (7×400) = 4000%. However, with the new PB+AB, we are looking at (4×350) + (6×330) = 3380% only! And this is factoring in the additional 20% dmg boost from the PB enhancement. Srsly, even with the 20% mob def ignore and the supposed faster attacking speed, I see this skill revamp for BaM more of a nerf tbh. Esp since they also removed the final attack. Wow, this totally sux to the max. 😦

    • Anonymous
      May 21, 2013 at 9:56 pm

The additional 20% damage boost is multiplicative, not additive. Considering you have no other %total damage or %boss, then it would be (4 x 396) + (6 x 330), which is still worse than the old BaM, not considering the speed of the attacks.

      • Anonymous
        May 21, 2013 at 11:02 pm

Thanks a lot for the clarification! Okay, that makes it 3564% which doesn’t seem too bad after all. Hopefully, the telecasting can be smoother with this new auto AB system. But like what someone mentioned previously, it would be awesome if the hands attack could work something like one of kanna’s skill i.e., % probability of activation. If not, it is just gonna be another close to obsolete skill like dark shock.

P.S. I am also mildly pleased that they added a 20% boss dmg skill enhancement. I guess on the whole, BaM’s skill revamp isn’t that bad afterall, although much is to be said about the spear animation. It is like another evan’s illusion all over again.

P.P.S To all those who might be concerned that without union aura, body boost becomes non-spammable again, I think your worries can be allayed.

        Quote:

“Super Body: effects were not changed (all Aura effects are doubled, each still has their own seperate duration), max level has been increased from 10 to 20…”

My guess/speculation is that with the lvl increase, comes the doubled aura effects duration. Thus, we don’t lose out but instead gain with the added battle master buff, which hopefully acts something like union aura in that it doesn’t need to be rebuffed everytime, with an increase of max crit. dmg by 20%. 😀

meanwhile, /gg on BaM picking up the various “bigby’s _______ hand” spells from D&D.

There goes the population of Xenon in MSEA. Nice job Nexon. Discouraging players even before we get to savour the OP
