The new boss Hekaton which I mentioned a couple of posts ago has finally been released to fight in this minor patch. Hekaton is a giant boss which can have up to 100 Maplers fighting against him, from any world!

Above is a gameplay video (although sort of lacking since it’s a level 101 haha), thanks to Spadow~ I think it looks amazingly fun (and laggy)!

Hekaton is open for all users level 30 or above. All servers will unite to fight him in one map, with up to 100 players!

Hekaton will revive after a certain period of time after being defeated. 5 minutes before his resurrection, an effect and message will be broadcast to all worlds. In addition, an icon will appear on the left side of you screen that will take you to Hekaton’s entrance map.

Hekaton’s weak point is his chest, which is protected by a shield. To damage his chest (to defeat him), you must destroy all other body parts which will cause the shield to disappear! But you can’t kill any body parts until you destroy the core which is located on his body.

So basically, it should be kill the core, then all the body parts, then finally the chest. However, Hekaton is immortal, and his defeated body parts as well as his shields will revive themselves after a certain period of time.

Each of Hekaton’s body parts have their own attacks, but at the same time, the core will be shooting out rocks all around the map! Use the moving platforms and your own skills to avoid them! There’s even special ‘lock-on’ skills that it uses, and you have to move out of the way in time.

To help you fight Hekaton, there will be mounted weapons on the surrounding towers. There are three types that you can access by pressing the ‘sit’ button while nearby.

• Cannon: by aiming at the core and setting the power level, you can deal massive damage to Hekaton’s core
• Harpoon: by aligning the crosshairs correctly, you can seal one of Hekaton’s body parts from attacking for a certain period of time
• Flying Battleship: by boarding and flying around, you can attack Hekaton

These weapons will deal fixed damage and will not rely on your stats.

Hekaton has a special minimap, which actually changes based on what happens in the map! The flags show where are are mounted weapons for you to use.

Based on posts from Insoya, Hekaton does not have damage reflect, but in this map you will not be able to take out a pet (so no pet buffs or auto buffs) and you cannot use potions (how are you supposed to survive…?). You can revive as much as you like. Also, the patch notes have its level as ??? so I’m not sure what that means, haha.

It was just released in the test server so some things might be changed later!

Hekaton also features a ranking, which I assume is how much damage everyone has done. It even shows the world you’re playing from.

After the battle is over, all participating players will receive compensation based on their contributions.
