kMS ver. 1.2.209 – New Year’s Celebration!
A new patch has been released~ This one is basically a ‘filler’, it contains New Year’s events as well as the new Action Pet and a couple actual in-game things.
Oh and I missed a lot of MapleStory 2 teaser pictures, so I’ll include those here too.
Some new monsters, buildings, and decorations have been added to Monster Life, including Pipsqueak EunWol, Lania, and Rang.
A new in-game option has been added that allows seamless integration with a streaming service called Afreeca.TV. Basically you can login to your account, create a room and start streaming, without having to use a separate client!
Other versions probably won’t get this since Afreeca is a Korean site, but maybe it can be used as a base for other sites?
This is an event that already passed but I wanted to talk about it because the rewards were great! To celebrate the New Year, they gave out these items for free on January 25! Everyone got 2,500 Mileage, a 30 day Toto pet, a 1 day Blood Ring, and 10 Safety Charms as well as a 4 Slot Storage Expansion Coupon!
There was another one the next day, on January 26 as well. This time we got another 2,500 Mileage, 500 Scroll Traces, 3 10% Clean Slate Scrolls, a 50% Golden Hammer, and an Enhanced Flame of Reincarnation.
Let’s move on to events, MapleStory Hands, the app that was mentioned a while back is finally ‘fully’ launched! With it, you can see your buddies, chat with them, work on your Monster Life farm, check the MapleStory guide book, see any events going and, and (soon) access the Cash Shop.
If you download the app and link it to your account, you’ll receive 5000 Maple Points for free~
The Owner of the Safe event runs on two separate days, January 29 and February 5, both from 3pm to 9pm.
Basically, Gold Richie has a safe, but he doesn’t know the combination! That’s where you come in.
Collect Gold Richie Figures from monsters around your level when the time comes and trade them in for a chance to open the safe! Depending on your number of correct digits, you’ll get prizes! 1 correct digit will get you an Inkwell Coin, 2 is a Fafnir Weapon Box, 3 is 2 Inkwell Coins, and 4 is a Tyrant Belt Coupon!
However, if someone in your world manages to get one of the items, it will no longer be available for anyone else.
Next up is the Return! Great Kite Chase event, which runs from January 28 to February 28.
Every 30 minutes from 7am to 10pm, you’ll get an invitation to join the Kite Chase. After being matched with people, progress through the stages and get the most points possible to win!
You can participate 10 times per day.
Based on the number of people playing and your position, you’ll get a certain number of Special Pouches. For example, if you are playing with 5 people, 1st place will get 6 pouches, 2nd will get 4, 3rd will get 3, 4th will get 2, and 5th will get 1.
The pouches can be opened for a variety of prizes.
- Rice Cake of Honor (gives Honor experience when used)
- Ggul Tteok of Honor (gives Honor experience when used)
- Carrot Coin
- Personality trait potions
- 5 All Cure Potions
- Mysterious Love Letter
- Use items
- Soldier Moon Bunny Triple Chair
- Old Moon Bunny Triple Chair
The New Year’s Defense event will run from now until February 28, it’s actually a lot of fun haha.
Basically, you have to keep the pesky Moon Bunnies out by… typing them away!! When they appear on your screen, type the word above them to defeat them and gain points! You will finish after all waves have been defeated.
You can participate 10 times per day.
There’s also a bunch of special Moon Bunnies with different effects. For example, the second from above moves faster, the third from above drops a special buff (or debuff!) if you defeat it, and the soldier one has 4x as much HP!
Based on your difficulty chosen, your point total, and if you cleared it or not, you’ll receive a certain amount of Carrot Coins and Special Pouches. You can unlock higher difficulties by completing all waves of a lower difficulty.
For example, if you cleared Hard mode, you’d get 1 Carrot Coin. Then if you got 5000 points or more, you’d get 1 more Coin and 5 pouches (2 coins and 3 pouches for 30000 points, 2 coins and 6 pouches for 60000 points).
If you can clear 5 or more waves in Hard mode, you’ll get a Traditional Game Courtyard Ticket (which I will talk about a little later).
Also, based on your grand total of points, you’ll get more prizes!
- 200,000 points: Typist medal and 10 Carrot Coins
- 1,000,000 points: Speed of Light Reflexes medal and 20 Carrot Coins
- 3,000,000 points: Keyboard Battle’s God medal and 30 Carrot Coins
The OX Quiz for Everyone!! event has begun and will run until February 28.
Every 50 minutes from 7am to 10pm, you’ll get an invitation to join the OX quiz with 5~100 other people! You can participate 10 times per day.
Basically, Gemdi the rapping dog will shout out questions for you to answer, and based on what you want to answer, you’ll either move to the O side or the X side of the map.
Based on your number of correct answers, you’ll get a certain number of Carrot Coins and Special Pouches. For example, getting 17~20 correct questions will give you 5 Carrot Coins and 10 pouches.
If you do really well, you’ll get a Traditional Game Courtyard Ticket.
The Traditional Game Courtyard consists of 2 maps, and you’ll be randomly sent to one of them when you use the ticket. Basically, you’ll have to aim yourself and set the power of either the swing or seesaw in order to get the maximum number of prizes!
You can get the following items from this place.
- 60% Chaos Scroll
- 60% Miraculous Chaos Scroll
- Silver Potential Stamp
- Carrot Coin
- Mesos
- Scroll Traces
- Giant Potion
The 2014 New Year Achievements event has begun and will run until February 28. In addition, the Chestnut Coin Shop has been renewed and will stay open until March 7.
There’s 5 achievements for you to complete, the first 3 for New Year’s Defense, the 4th for Kite Chase, and the last for OX Quiz. If you complete all 5, you’ll finish the last achievement.
It will give you the New Year Achievement King medal which gives 5 all stats, 5 attack and magic attack. It expires though.
The Chestnut Coin Shop now sells a new set of items for Carrot Coins!
- 10 Chestnut Coins (11 coins)

Finally, there’s a lot more 2x experience this month. On January 27~29, it’s from 8pm to 10pm. On the 30th, 1st, and 2nd, it is from 6pm to 9pm. On the 31st, it’s from 9am to 9pm! And lastly, every weekend from 1pm to 4pm.
A new type of pet, an Action Pet, which grows with you has been released! Right now there is one kind called Demon, and there is a package for 23,800 NX which includes a Demon Egg (19,800 NX), a Devil Bat equip (4,000 NX) and 6 Chloe’s Enhanced Potion (free).
When you get the egg, it will hatch into one of three random Demons, each with a different element (Lux with light, Tempus with time, and Vita with life).
While fighting monsters, or if you give it the ‘transform’ keyword, your Demon pet will transform into its battle form! While in battle form, the pet will give you special buffs.
You can also give it the ‘return’ keyword to make it transform back into its original form.
If you are able to get your Demon pet to level 30, you can use the Accelerator Cash item to evolve it into the Devil pet!
The Devil pet will have a different appearance, as will its transformed forms.
Each Demon pet you have will give you 3 attack, and each Devil pet you have will give 5 attack. In addition, while in its battle form, the pet will give you extra buffs! If it is level 1~29, it will randomly give one of the first buffs every 5 minutes, and if it’s level 30, it will all of them at the same time.
- Before Evolution: 7 all stats, 3% HP, 150 defense and magic defense, or 12 speed and jump.
- After Evolution: 15 STR, 15 DEX, 15 INT, 15 LUK, 6% HP, or 5 attack and magic attack.
If your pet has between 101~125 fullness (by using Chloe’s Enhanced Potion), the buffs it gives will be enhanced as well to 17 all stats/8% HP/5 attack and magic attack (for level 1~29) and 20 all stats/10% HP/8 attack and magic attack (for level 30).
Let’s move on to MapleStory 2! This one is a broadcast from the MBS saying that the center of the town Henesys has been infested by sheep and they’re causing a lot of traffic, haha.
This one is an excerpt from something called Maple Chronicles: Henesys and talks about how important the Chief of Henesys is.
Finally, this one is another MBS broadcast, this time about the weather. It says that in Perion, there is currently a large sandstorm and the temperature range is massive so you should avoid going outside. I guess MapleStory 2 will feature all of the main towns of Victoria Island (Perion, Henesys, Ellinia, Kerning City)!
-sigh- it’s kind of dissapointing but I guess it had to be expected after lots of patches that actually helped a lot to other players
cheated to 2nd 😛
HURRR THIRD.
Maplestory 2 looks ugly. Seriously,it is terrifying.
First!
Close but it was me, sorry. Either way it shouldn’t matter
Second!
4th
I like what I see, that APP looks great and the mini games look fun and that pet is very cool.
That maple news thing is cute
Hey max do you know what the demon avenger damage formula got changed to? I know its not in this patch but i asked you a while ago and i guess you didn’t see it. Thanks!
Nope, sorry. You’d have to find someone to calculate it lol
I’ll definitely play MS2 when it comes out. I don’t know if I’ll ever get back to Maple but I still like reading your Maple posts.
I think you meant pipsqueak EunWol 😛
Fixed, thanks!
Yet again and again…No word on the Blaze Wizard & Night Walker, or any word on 5th Job!
Hey Max! Any news on the cash item share event? Will the cash items you transfer over be able to stay on the character permanently?
It already ended a while back but yes, after the event was over any moved Cash items stayed permanently on the character they were on at that time.
knowing how greedy nexon is we wont have half of those again
OMG AM I FIRST?! PWWWWWWWWNEEEEEEEEED
Maxxx i know your blog is about maple and kms. But im surprised you havent said anything about the first ever LEVEL 250 in history and it had happened in GMS.
Dual Blades need revamp. :<
InnmateSearch more than likely abused a glitch
Dear Anonymous,
Its not a glitch it’s been in the game for a couple of month’s. So please re-frame from saying its a glitch. Also if it was dont you think it would have been patched by now? 3 Patches have been gone since people figured it out. It’s also in KMS but its horrible slow works best in GMS.
Move all characters to HoH, using Kishin and HS obviously.
You’ll get 600-700k EXP per mob on 1x.
The way party play works is that for every character in your party, you’ll get +50%EXP, but the EXP gets shared between the party, lowering it down to almost the same as if you had no one in your party.
If you’re 41 levels higher or lower than a party member, THEY DO NOT TAKE ANY EXP OFF FROM YOU, the party play EXP still applies to you, even if they won’t get EXP, resulting in a large EXP gain only for you, as the EXP isn’t split since they’re not within 41 levels of you.
6 x 50% = 300%EXP already, then you have your HS and yeah just go stacking all your EXP buffs.
HoH is better than Warrior Grounds since if you use this you’ll get more due to HoH being a +50%party play bonus compared to 20%.
And its HoH, you don’t need 2m range to 1 hit mob’s.
No, I DON’T think it would’ve been patched by now! I don’t know about you but I play Maplestory GLOBAL! We’re talking about a company who left a major content breaking bug (the Horntail Waitlist bug) for over TWO YEARS! It may not be relevant content TODAY, it may not even have been when it was fixed, but it WAS major when the bug started AND for a good part of the bug’s run.
Plus, the patch notes for the introduction/revamp (idr which) party play content EXPLICITLY state that you do NOT gain bonus exp if the other player’s level is too low, which is PRETTY damning evidence against it not being against the devs’ intents, if i do say so myself, which I just did.
Whenever I visit your blog, I wonder about how you can read Korean very well. Have you lived in Korea before?
I think….
One of the event item in January 25
it is not a “a 1 day Blood Ring”
it is one “30 day Blood Ring”

I do believve all thee ideas you’ve offered for your post.
They are very convincing and can definitely work. Still, the posts are too short for newbies.
Could you plase extend them a little from next time?
Thank you for the post.
