kMSt ver. 1.2.018 – New Boss Urus!
The newest boss for MapleStory, the Destruction King Urus, has been added to the test server! Urus is a boss which requires 18 people and uses the new skeleton animation system.
Destruction King Urus is a new boss which users can fight against after advancing to 4th job at level 100. Urus is the first boss to use the new skeleton animation system resulting in fluid movement and animations. He’s one of the largest bosses but you will experience a large performance improvement over previous bosses. Up to 18 people can challenge Urus and have fun working together to defeat him for mesos and rewards.
To Play Destruction King Urus
By clicking on the Urus icon on the left side of your screen and completing the pre-quests, you can move to the standby map to challenge Urus.
After the pre-quests have been completed, you can return to the map through the Dimensional Mirror or by using the Boss UI.
Destruction King Urus Conditions
You can complete the pre-quests for Urus after advancing to 4th job at level 100 (Evan characters must reach 8th Growth, Zero characters must complete Chapter 2).
You can fight Urus 3 times per day per account.
Destruction King Urus System Features
To allow 18 users to seamlessly enjoy the game together with minimal lag, the following systems will be applied.
- Matching System
- By clicking ‘Quick Start’, you will be matched with random users and once 18 people have been found, you can enter. If you want to enter with less or you want to fight with your friends, you can use the ‘Party Play’ button to challenge Urus with your own party. You can have 1~18 people in your party, and you can choose to match with random users to fill up any remaining spots if you want.
- Skill Select System
- Before entering the fight against Urus, you must choose up to 8 skills to use (all other skills will be restricted). All passives and movement skills cannot be selected and will be applied regardless of selected skills. For large area skills, they will be invisible to other users. (Large area skills either (1) have a range of 200,000 pixels or more or (2) can hit 14 enemies or more).
- When fighting Destruction King Urus, users will experience several new skills which previous bosses did not have such as the ability to grab or eat users.
- Game End
- All users will exit automatically when Urus’ health is 0 or if all participating users are dead. There is no time limit for fighting Urus.
- Power Compensation System
- In order to reduce the disparity between power levels of users from level 100 to 250, the Power Compensation system will be applied so that everyone can have fun together. Depending on your equipped weapon’s level and your total Star Force, your damage will be adjusted. Users will be able to play together with similar power levels.
- Parts Targeting/Destruction System
- Urus is a monster which uses the skeleton animation system, its body is separated into various parts which can be targeted separately. The damage you do will be affected by the part which you are hitting and you can also destroy the parts separately to stop the monster from performing certain attacks.
- Death System
- If Urus’ HP reaches 0, you’ll win the fight but if all users are dead, it’s Game Over. When users die inside the fight, they won’t be able to move but other users can revive them by standing near them and pressing Space Bar for a certain period of time. Users can only be revived a certain number of times, that number is shared by the entire team (90, rightmost number on the top bar). This adds a strategical element where users must avoid dying and decide when to revive their teammates.
- Potion Count System
- The number of potions you can use while fighting Urus is limited. Your potion limit is reset every time you are revived after dying. The limit starts at 30 (center number on the top bar)
- Battle Status UI
- By pressing the Tab key while fighting Urus, you can check the current battle statistics.
- Zoom In/Out System
- Because of Urus’ giant size and the large number of players in the map, you will be able to zoom in and out to see a larger range in wide-screen. At the top of your screen, you can press the +/- buttons to zoom in or out.
After you either defeat Urus or your party is wiped out, the Battle Results will appear. You’ll get points based on your survival time, assists, and total damage which you will then get ranked upon.
Based on your points, you’ll get EXP, mesos, and Urus parts. On the right side will be a ranking showing who did the most damage and at the bottom, it will list the Deal King (most damage), Revival King (most revivals of party members) and the Heal King (most healing).
Aisha is the one who holds rewards for fighting Urus. You can collect various items from Urus and trade them in to her for prizes.
- Fist King Urus Chair
- Urus Hunter Chair
- Destruction King’s Throne
- Bear Damage Skin
- Destruction King Damage Skin
Here’s a video of me fighting Urus! I wasn’t able to get 18 people so I went in with a small party. It was definitely a different boss fighting experience. The skills look fun, later on in the fight (which I didn’t get to), he starts picking up users and even eating them haha.
Here is one uploaded by Spadow! You can see the fight from start to finish with a lot of people working together.
Looks amazing
Feels amazing
Tastes amazing
Smells amazing
Sounds amazing
Neat!
This is great but…5th job
So its a bear….
Isnt that a bear?
looks amazing but really the 8 skills?
Look on mages(they have ALOT of must used buffs), how they suppose to have enough buffs? or attacks?
on the other hand jobs like NL or Shade that barely have 8 attacks and buffs total….this is really fked up…. its unfair as fuck…..
It’s meant to be completed in a group, so you’re supposed to choose a build that will benefit the group, rather than just tank everything by yourself.
that’s not the point. All mages have a LOT of active buffs (except battle mages), but only Bishops are any good at being support classes. The only support Arch Mages have is Meditiation (well, I/L has bind, but it probs won’t work), which is good IF you have a large amount of mages. To make matters worse, Fire Mages rely on a large amount of their attack skills for dps as well, as do Kanna.
It’s VERY unfair.
To most mages, the build that will benefit the group is the one that maximizes that mage’s dps.
But, we can’t fit everything that’s required to do so in just 8 skills…
Evan on the other hand, has a TON of party buffs, but they’re all TERRIBLE. He has to choose between focusing on terribad support, and focusing on crippled dps… (well, actually, THANK GOD evan only needs the one attack for this boss [unless he summons stuff], I can only think of six vital active buffs [MG, Booster, MW, BotO, Onyx Will, and Summon Onyx Dragon, replace MG with either another mobber, onyx shroud, or frenzied soul if MG is useless here], whch leaves room for both his important attack skills [Illusion and Baze])
fp or il based dmg increase based on other skills (dot or frozen orb)
yeah thats true you dont MUST use 30matk(meditation) and someone else still can MW but we still have alot of MUST buffs as ele reset / mg
So is that the end of the REBOOT update? or is there more to come o_o ?
I believe this is the last patch for Reboot.
Does teleport/double jump count into one of the 8 skills or is it considered passive?
The patch notes said ‘movement skills’ are automatically selected but I had to pick Double Jump when I went in… for now you have to choose it as one of your 8 skills if you want to use it.
the animations and so much more makes me have high hopes for the future of Maple
they should add more slots for buffs ;3; unfair towards buff-relient classes
SHADE/EUNWOL would seem like the most logical member to be with against a boss like this
You mean, because it has ZERO active buffs outside of hypers?
Not a bad idea
What other rewards do you get/can you buy for killing him? Is it just chairs?
For now it is just the chairs and damage skins.
wow nice but they need to add strong howls to urus and strong cries so that will make the boss better and more sounds for the skills Urus use and they also need to remove all the skills animation and dmg from players just like root abyss boss so we can see urus and appreciate what urus do, cuz with too many skills we cant even see nothing just skills animations
hello! as always i would like to ask for permission to translate the information of this patch and post to the forum bahamut (巴哈姆特) including the original link and author . Thank you for posting and sharing the new infomation! The new bossing environment looks really fascinating . Love you ❤
That’s fine 🙂
Hopefully next update something about 5th job
DID I JUST HEARD NO TIME LIMIT?
ABOUT DAM TIME NEXON
Holy crap this looks good!! I can’t wait! I definitely prefer new ms rather than old ms
I don’t know if my comment made it through earlier, so sorry if this is a duplicate. Are characters under level 50 or 30 deleted if they’re inactive for a month? Is this in effect for GMS right now or just KMS?
The skill restriction sucks for classes that have more than 1 main attacking skills and buff dependent. Hopefully they change it when it comes to the real server
Dammit Nexon, where’s our Evan revamp, we have like 9 buff skills to use alone.
am I the only one who feel that it’s smaller than…. or maybe only twice the size of papulatus?
yes because you are the only retarded one. the map is zoomed out so you can see more of Urus at a time and that is why he appears to be smaller
Max, is there any usage of those purple flames Urus drops, yet?
hey max question with the pink bean update is the “Pink Together title which gives 10 all stats, 5 attack and magic attack, and 10% boss damage.” is that only available for the pink bean or is it an item reward for another character in your world?
