MapleStory M!

MapleStory M.jpg

The mobile game MapleStory M was officially released yesterday! You can get it on the App Store or Google Play Store if you have a Korean account.

MapleStory M is the newest mobile game from Nexon, and they had a lot of advertising videos made for it, like this one.

And if you’re wondering what the game actually looks like, here’s a few videos!

maplestory-m-mmorpg

The thing about MapleStory M is that they tried to make it very similar to the actual game, so it uses the same graphics, same skills, and it’s even a full fledged MMORPG, so you can meet other players all the time!

Here’s what the UI looks like. Basically you can put skills on hotkeys in the bottom right, along the bottom are your pets + riding, on the bottom left are the movement keys and in the top left you’ll see all your character information.

I’m playing it right now and it’s not too bad. The touch controls definitely take some getting used to but it still feels pretty fluid. I die a lot though because I never pay attention to my HP haha.

maplestory-m-jobs

Currently, only 5 jobs are available: Dark Knight, Bowmaster, Night Lord, Bishop, and Captain.

Victoria Island, Orbis and El Nath, and the Nihal Desert are the three areas available currently.

maplestory-m-minidungeons

MapleStory M features minidungeons which you can customize to your liking before you go inside to freely hunt, and also Elite Dungeons which are skill-testing challenges you can face with friends.

There are also features such as auto-battle and auto-riding that help make the experience easier for players.

All cosmetic related items (hair/face coupons, Cash equipment) are bought using Crystals which can be purchased with real money. You also get a small amount from various challenges but I doubt it will be a lot in the long run.

You’ll notice there are even Cubes in the Crystal Shop. This is because the item system in MapleStory M is almost exactly the same as regular MapleStory, everything has potential which can be reset using the two Crystal Shop cubes or Strange Cubes from in-game methods.

Everything can be enhanced using mesos with Star Force. There’s even the Equipment Inheritance and Toad’s Hammer systems.

maplestory-m-launching-event

Sorry if I sound as a nostalgia gamer, but the game right now despite has excellent graphics, good OST and even great system, the mobs placement and the OST placement feels a little off the game.

I was thinking to see the Classic Story somehow, with the additions of the Potential System (a nerfed one) and the Cash Shop with some limits to make the game fun to everyone. Yeah , the old times, where we had up to 2nd job with some tweaked skills. But with the OST and mob placement, exploring, HIDDEN STREETS, bosses and everything to make the feeling of the game return.

With that they could won back epically the crowd.

you sound exactly like one of those nostalgia bating people who have no idea why the game failed as “old maple” and needed big bang to continue to profit. Feel free to play royals or legends or one of those other pservers though.

maple m was never meant to be a maplestory server, it’s a mobile game that’s less shit than pocket and deluxe, that’s about it. You were expecting way too much from a phone game.

Also, I would like to point out that “the crowd” would never come back. They left. They’re gone already, largely because they outgrew the game, in tandem with mechanical changes they didn’t like.

Press the gear icon in the top right (options) and then press the 온라인 연동 button to enter your Maple ID and password.

Thanks Max, I tried it but I think naver account cannot linked.

You’re gonna wanna click the 넥슨 tab after you do what max said, THEN log in with your nexon account. The other tab is for the maple ID login, which if you log in with that is fine to enter, but as you’re mentioning your naver account, chances are you log in with your nexon account, then pick the maple ID you want to play with, unless you have a really really old account from the days when they made you create maple IDs with email accounts.

After you do that, on the right side of the main UI, there’s a little arrow pointing left, just underneath the the chat and map button, but right above the slot for mana pots, click that and it pops out some new options. The maple leaf is the event UI to actually push through the item boxes to your proper maple account.

Also contains a button to visit the UI for the naver cafe for maplestoryM (the naver cafe icon), and the mileage event UI max has mentioned in his post (the gift box), along with the daily login counters and an option to stream to youtube gaming.

Yeah, as I don’t have a nexon account, I think I cannot play this event.

It’s not a big deal then, for this game in particular, the rewards are pretty bad. You’ll have better potions by the time you hit level 20 areas. What world are you in, anyway? I think I made a mistake picking luna instead of scania.

    • Hapitsu
      October 16, 2016 at 9:55 am

Xd I choose Luna but I am just aim for the reward, no reason to play it now so I already uninstall it.

Yeah, you don’t need one, and it doesn’t offer you anything but the ability to link for the currently running launch events of maple M

      Yep!

You can just go to any site that hosts .apk files and find the one for MapleStory M, download it on your phone and manually install it.

do you guys think they will start making a US version

    • Max
      October 23, 2016 at 12:03 pm

I sorta doubt it, KMS already has a few apps including Maple Hands (which lets you chat with ingame friends from your phone), Star Planet Mobile (which obviously lets you play Star Planet minigames to get Mileage in-game, even though its removed in-game) and now this. And I don’t think any of them have been translated/released in the US.

        October 24, 2016 at 9:28 am

Well Maplestory M is nothing like these. Its a maple game closest to GMS/KMS. Look at Pocket MS in the us, probably brought ALOT of money to the company. So i cant really see why they wouldnt make a US version. Probably tweak it to make it super P2W compared to the korean version but oh well.

My thing with the korean version is i cant read it. Its pretty str8 forward but

Nope. They’re gonna release it for US. I’ve already seen Nexon America hiring GM and CM positions for MS Mobile

    November 6, 2016 at 12:39 pm

Any estimated date for US release??

HOW long did it take pocketMS to be released in the US?

    • Anonymous
      February 13, 2017 at 7:56 pm

You can expect this to be released globally in late 2017.
Based on Nexon previous release trend with Pocket Maplestory which was:

Pocket Maplestory(korean) release was in 2014
Pocket Maplestory(global) release was in late 2015

So MapleStory M was release in late 2016,lets hope that it gets released later this year.
