Bellona has a unique Death Count UI, with one heart representing one Death Count. In Easy/Normal Mode, there is a Death Count of 8 while in Hard Mode, there is a Death Count of 5.
In addition, you can see the Insane Gauge, which will fill up automatically over time.

The basic mechanic when fighting Bellona is that she has two types of attacks that she uses.
- Red attacks are special Annihilation attacks. If you are hit by them, it will instantly take away 1 Death Count and lower the Insane Gauge by a lot.
- Purple attacks are regular attacks that deal damage. If you are hit by them, it will lower the Insane Gauge a bit.
The more Death Count you lose by being hit by the Annihilation attacks, Bellona will go from being surprised that you’re so weak to being completely done with you.
If you lose all of your hearts, you will instantly fail, and Bellona will be really disappointed with you…
When the Insane Gauge is filled, Bellona will enter Insane Mode for a short period of time.
- The screen will darken and Bellona will only appear right before she attacks.
- Bellona will only use red attacks.
- Bellona will deal damage to herself for every attack she uses.
- Bellona will take an increased 30% final damage.
- If you are hit by Bellona’s attacks, she will heal her HP.
- If you can last the entire Insane Mode duration without being hit, you will restore 1 Death Count.
Phase 1 and Phase 2 are generally pretty similar, with Phase 2 having only a couple of new patterns. The main difference is that she can attack much faster, and some attacks have different or no warning effects.
In my personal opinion, this is quite a difficult boss. It required much more practice than the previously released ones, and since the entire concept is that every attack can take away a Death Count, you can very easily be overwhelmed and die out. But I really love the actual boss concept, I think they did a great job capturing the crazy berserker idea, and Bellona’s animations are super smooth and flashy.
