KMST ver. 1.2.165 – Lucid Dream Festa & the Dreamer Update!

December 16, 2023 Leave a comment Go to comments

A couple of days ago was the Lucid Dream Festa, an event held at Lotte World in Seoul to announce the winter update, titled Dreamer! It included the various events for the winter, the new Union Artifact system, new Mastery Cores and a Common Core, a new Epic Dungeon system, and various quality of life improvements. Shortly after, the test server opened with some of the content mentioned in the showcase.

Lucid Dream Festa

  • Lucid Dream Festa
    • This is both the name of the showcase and the overall event in-game. Lucid previously had been themed around nightmares, but in this update, she now has happy dreams. A lot of the characters you met in Lacheln also have a different look, like the Cleaner who is now a flashy masked gentleman and the Ragdoll who is much happier than before.
  • Midnight Party
    • This is the main event for the winter update, similar to the Identisk Island event.
    • The Daily Party rewards can be claimed just by logging in. The Weekly Party rewards (now including EXP Vouchers) can be claimed by defeating monsters 3 days per week.
    • Previous summer and winter events lasted 8 weeks but this one will last 13 weeks (Midnight Party lasts 12 weeks). Since 2023 was the 20th anniversary, they really wanted to make this the year of MapleStory so they prepared a fitting end with even better rewards.
    • The final Daily Party reward is a Transcendent Growth Potion, which gives one level up when used, up to level 269.
    • The final Weekly Party reward is a Dream Lucidroid and Fairy Heart.
  • Coin Shops
    • The Dream Fragment Shop is the normal coin shop.
    • The Night Fragment Shop is the weekly boss coin shop.
    • There is also a Meso Shop.
    • The Dance Fragment Shop is a shop where you can spend coins you get from minigames in the Monster Arcade to buy special outfits (including some from overseas and from Maple M that players requested).
    • You can exchange Dream Fragments for Dance Fragments, for players who want more cosmetic items rather than the regular coin shop items.
  • Dream Messenger
    • The Dream Messenger skill includes the temporary stats as usual, but it also has new additional types of stats you can level up (increased Sol Erda drops from bosses, experience from Bounty Hunting, Runes, Monster Park, extra Symbols/experience from daily quests).
  • Experience Events
    • They brought back all of the experience related events that players enjoyed from the summer update (Lacheln Winter Feast skill for experience while hunting, Midnight Dream Catcher for hunting special mobs like Food Storage, Galina’s Tomato Festival which is an experience Punch King, and Dreamer Zero to One Hundred).
  • Goldrich’s Treasure Hunt
    • The Goldrich’s Treasure Hunt event expands on the tradable event items they have been adding recently. Over the event, different items will drop from monsters, the first month being VIP Boosters.
  • Hyper Burning & Tera Blink
    • The Hyper Burning event has been improved with better rewards and gives access to a new area called Tera Blink that is a special map you can use to level up from 10~200 within 15~20 minutes.
    • This will also have special tutorials for new players for job advancements, Spell Traces, Star Force hunting grounds, the Toad’s Hammer system, and Hyper Skills/Stats.
    • Burning World also has an updated Step Up UI and rewards. You can also World Leap early starting from the 9th week of the event, instead of having to wait until the end of the update.
  • Sunday Maple
    • Shining Star Force Time will take place on January 7.
    • Miracle Time will take place on January 14.
  • Union Artifact
    • This is a new growth system that is replacing Monster Life. You can grow your crystals to get time-limited stats to all characters in the same world.
    • You must complete Artifact Missions to get Artifact Experience to increase your levels. They include things you would naturally do while playing the game such as doing your dailies, defeating bosses, and completing certain quests.
    • When you complete Normal and Boss Missions, you will also get Artifact Points that you can use to acquire desired stats.
    • You can equip between 3 and 9 Crystals. You can use your Artifact Points to increase your crystals’ levels and assign the stats you want. Based on the levels, the stats will be increased. You can also extend the duration of these stats using Artifact Points.
    • You can get the following stats from Union Artifact (including all the ones players used in Monster Life):
      • Main stat
      • Attack/magic attack
      • HP/MP
      • Damage
      • Critical rate
      • Critical damage
      • Boss damage
      • Defense ignore
      • Status resistance
      • Item drop rate
      • Meso acquisition
      • Additional experience acquisition
      • Buff duration
      • Cooldown skip
      • Summon duration
      • Final Attack skills’ damage
    • You can naturally acquire Artifacts through content you are already participating in. Their main goal was to avoid having an RNG experience (like Monster Life) or requiring additional work outside of normal gameplay.
    • You will also acquire Artifact Experience and levels based on your previous Monster Life Level. You won’t be at exactly the same level as before but a lot of players should be able to enjoy the effects they had in Monster Life very quickly. In addition, they designed the system so that if you continue to grow, it will be better than what you had in Monster Life.
    • Unlike Monster Life, this system is available in Reboot World. Together with this, Reboot World’s final damage will be adjusted.
  • New Mastery Cores
    • Unlike the first set of Mastery Cores which was generally focused on bosing, this set didn’t have a unified purpose. Instead, they looked at each job and made a Core that supplemented what they needed at this point in time. For example, classes with weaker mobbing were given stronger mobbing skills like Ice/Lightning (Frozen Orb will be more useful when grinding) and Demon Slayer (changing Demon Explosion to be a single-hit skill, a new gimmick that fires Demonic Orbs). Classes that needed a bit of a boost in bossing were given skills like Aran (changing the way Hunter’s Targeting works) and Wild Hunter (updating all of the Jaguar skills). This is their goal going forward, rather than just enhancing the performance of existing skills, they want to upgrade them and give a more complete combat experience to all classes. This is something they’re doing in this set as well, for classes like Luminous and Soul Master that are getting new special passives. They want every Mastery Core to be worth it to level up so they will add other effects as needed.

  • New Common Core
    • Sol Janus: Twilight (mark type passive skill) or Sol Janus: Dawn (install type active skill).
    • This new Common Core gives up to 50% additional experience acquisition.
    • The goal for this Common Core was to be a meaningful skill in hunting and character progression. Janus is a god with two faces, so you can choose between the two different forms of the skill. You can choose whichever will let you hunt more comfortably and easily. The passive buff was added for players that didn’t necessarily need the added mobbing benefit as well.
  • Epic Dungeon: High Mountain
    • This is new content for players that have completed the 6th job advancement, and will expand on the overall story and give new types of combat experiences.
    • You can acquire large amounts of Sol Erda and experience every week. In Reboot, you can also get Sol Erda Fragments.
    • The first Epic Dungeon takes place in the area of High Mountain, home of the Celestial race, right after Cernium. Seren returns to High Mountain to try and repair the destroyed Holy Sword Azor, where she meets the ancient god Mitra as well as other ancient demons.
    • You can choose to do it one at a time or all at once, but it takes a bit of time to do it all at once (unlike other existing weekly content).
    • They also want to add dungeon-only skills that let you defeat more than 15 monsters at the same time, so that you can have a fast pace dungeon-crawling experience that previously was not possible in MapleStory.
  • Improvements
    • You can open multiple Core Gemstones at the same time.
    • You can upgrade all of your equipped Cores at the same time.
    • Changsup actually mentioned that it’s really late to be doing this since 6th job is already out, but it’s still something that should be added and so they worked on it. And it can still be useful as many players are still working on their 5th job Cores, either on their main or side characters.
    • Monster Park Extreme has been added to the party recruitment window.
    • Combat power information has been added to the party recruitment system.
    • Boss entry limits have been removed.
      • The entry interface has been improved. Instead of a simple text box for all bosses, they added a pretty and functional UI together with the Practice Mode update.
    • You can now pick and choose various buffs and skills to use when entering Practice Mode bosses.
      • You can choose to receive Guild Skills, Heaven’s Door, Echo, various buff potions and items when you enter Practice Mode.
    • Black Heaven and Heroes of Maple story reorganization.
      • You can now enter Suu and Demian without having to complete them.
      • For Black Heaven, the story has not been changed but the overall play time and cutscenes have been shortened to make it faster.
      • For Heroes of Maple, they have drastically updated the story (important points like things related to Abraxas, the Transcendent Stone, the relationship between Masteria and Friends World).
    • Arcane River hunting grounds terrain improvements.
    • Grandis hunting grounds’ Elite Monsters/Elite Champions/Runes will now be instanced.

If a Cycle hits an enemy using Damage Reflect, you will not take damage.
Level 30: 30% normal monster damage increase. [Max Level: 30]

  • Sol Janus: Twilight: Automatically release inherent Sol Erda. The pure energy attracted by the released Sol Erda condenses into Primal Crystals that pour down on enemies.
If the Primal Crystals hit an enemy using Damage Reflect, you will not take damage.
Level 30: 30% normal monster damage increase. [Max Level: 30]
    • Level 1: Consumes 5% max HP.

    • Level 30: Consumes 5% max HP.
When you use a skill, Sol Erda will be released automatically and create 11 Primal Crystals.

Also the skill is supposed to be pronounced like “yeah-noose” according to the Korean name!

※ When the official server is updated, Special Missions already completed by characters within the world can be completed instantly.

※ When World Leaping, Special Missions already completed by the moved characters can be completed instantly in the target world.

  • You can collect Artifact EXP to grow your Artifact Level. As your Artifact Level increases, you will be given Artifact AP which is used to grow Crystals, the limit for holding Artifact Points will be increased, and the number of usable Crystals will be increased at certain levels.
  • Artifact Points are used change Artifact Crystal’s stats, extend their duration, and reset AP.

You can acquire various stats through Artifact Crystals.

  • Depending on your Artifact Level, you can use a specific number of Crystals.
    • Level 1 or higher: 3 Crystals
    • Level 10 or higher: 4 Crystals
    • Level 20 or higher: 5 Crystals
    • Level 30 or higher: 6 Crystals
    • Level 40 or higher: 7 Crystals
    • Level 50 or higher: 8 Crystals
    • Level 60: 9 Crystals
  • Each Crystal can have 3 different types of stats from the following list. You can change the combination of stats to any combination of your choice through the [Stat Conversion] feature. Each stat can go up to level 10.
    • All Stats (up to 150)
    • Max HP/MP (up to 7500)
    • Attack/Magic Attack (up to 30)
    • Damage (up to 15%)
    • Boss Damage (up to 15%)
    • Defense Ignore (up to 20%)
    • Buff Duration (up to 20%)
    • Cooldown Skip Chance (up to 7.5%)
    • Meso Acquisition (up to 12%)
    • Item Drop Rate (up to 12%)
    • Critical Rate (up to 20%)
    • Critical Damage (up to 4%)
    • Additional Experience Acquisition (up to 12%) and +1 mobs hit for all non-single target skills
    • Status Resistance (up to 12)
    • Summon Duration (up to 20%)
    • Final Attack-Type Skill Damage (up to 30%)

※ A single Crystal cannot have multiple of the same type of stat.

※ When using the Stat Conversion feature on a Crystal, it will consume 500 Artifact Points.

  • Crystals can grow in rank by using Artifact AP. They can go up to level 5.
Growth StageStat Level BoostConsumed Artifact AP
Level 11
Level 221
Level 332
Level 442
Level 553

※ When using the AP Reset feature, it will consume 500 Artifact Points to reset the rank growth status of all Artifacts.

  • The Artifact effect is applied by adding up all of the stat level boosts of all Crystals. However, each stat will only apply up to level 10.
  • Each Crystal has its own stat duration applied. Crystals whose stat durations have expired will not be included in the Artifact effect. The stat duration can be extended to 30 days from the date you extend it, through the [Duration Extend] feature.

※ When extending the duration of 1 expired Crystal, it will consume 1000 Artifact Points.

※ Crystals whose stat durations have not expired yet can also be extended. In this case, the Artifact Points consumed will be reduced in proportion to the length of the extended duration.

※ However, when a Crystal is acquired through levelling up your Artifact, its stat duration will be set to 30 days from that point in time.

You can set the expiration of all Crystals to 30 days from the date you extend them all at once by using the [Bulk Extend] feature.

(This last part is not from the patch notes.)

If you’re confused (like I was at first), I’ll try to give a simple explanation for this system.

  • Complete the missions to get Artifact EXP. This includes the Normal/Boss missions which reset weekly, and are very easy since you just need to defeat monsters and bosses, and also the Special missions, which reward you for completing a variety of different content within the game.
  • As you get Artifact EXP, your Artifact Level will go up, unlocking more Crystals.
  • As your Artifact Level goes up, you will also get AP. This is used to level up your Crystals.
  • Each Crystal can have 3 different stats, and it will increase those stats by a certain level depending on what rank the Crystal is. (e.g. a Level 5 Crystal will increase the three stats on it by 5 levels.)
  • You can think of each Crystal as a trio core from the V Matrix, and your stat levels will be added up from all of your unlocked Crystals. (e.g. as shown above, my level 2, 1, and 1 Crystals all had the same stats and so I got a total of level 4 all stats, HP/MP, and attack/magic attack.)
  • Each Crystal has a 30 day duration. You can pay Artifact Points (from completing Normal/Boss missions) to extend them, up to 30 days. You do not lose the Crystal if you let the duration expire, you simply need to pay for the full 30 day extension again.
  • Therefore, if you were to go directly to the end of this system, you would have a total of 9 Crystals at level 5. You could max out a total of 12 stats (4 x pair of level 5 Crystals for 3 different stats) and half boost 3 other stats (1 x level 5 Crystal for 3 different stats).
  • You need a total of 9000 Artifact Points per month to keep all 9 Crystals active. If you look through the Normal/Boss missions, you can see its actually quite easy to get that much just by doing your weekly bosses.

I already hate Union Artifact. It’s pretty much exactly what I thought it was going to be. Extra work just to get back our damage from the Reboot beginner skill nerf. Making it reset after 30 days is just a pointless nuisance.

Equipment and Ability presets are a huge win though.

You dickriding tards are the exact reason why Nexon keep getting away with shitty update/patch, first it was exp nerf, then totem die, now its damage nerf. Fuck off and die somewhere else.

          1. Sounds like the average activist mapler that gets aggravated and insults others for Realism about Nexon’s Perspectives and Game Direction then tells them to go delete themselves etc afterwards.

          2. Reboot needs to be balanced out in order for the game to continue onwards in future contents. Without those changes how can we get the good improvements and contents if the bad and unbalance ones are still lingering around the game.

          3. Totems are a mistake to the game and it didn’t help that certain person was using skill injection (hacks) to keep them from not disappearing (Kanna didn’t help at all neither) it made the game so unbalanced for few years it had to be done but atleast their making improvements to spawn rates and overall map training grounds.

          4. EXP Rates In Reboot were absurd compared towards regular servers. Its not fair for them to gain lesser exp rates than reboot gain more’re exp rates so to combat this they had to balance the exp rates in reboot and while it does take abit longer there are always other ways to train up until u unlock dailies/weeklies in arcane rivers.

          5. Final Damage Bonuses in Reboot are the biggest examples of bad math balancing in video games. Beginners from levels 1 to 199 shouldn’t have scale unbalance increase 30 to 50% not even at levels 200 to 300 should it that unfair increase 60 to 70% Final Damage Increase.

          – This is why nexon decided to balance the final damage bonuses so that there all on even plain fields across the board and imo it looks better than before after looking at the charts from time to time while atleast understanding why nexon did what had to be done.

          – If that didn’t happen then reboot wouldn’t gotten the union artifact system cause u cant have the best of both worldths and that will be even more unfair for regular servers cause they dont have worldth bonuses like reboot does have.

          6. No need to insult others who are just trying to tell you in realism that its not all doom and glooms if u do not agree with nexon’s new game direction nor like the games anymore you’re more welcome to quit and find somewhere else to invest ur time and negative energy cause thats the last thing maplestory community even needs than its already fester with people who already dont enjoy the game and want pre-bigbang back etc.

            December 22, 2023 at 5:29 pm

Not fair???????? Who the fuck cares just play and enjoy the game in your own servers. I literally don’t get why reg servers obess over reboot so much when they don’t interact at all in game mind your own business. Actual Nexon dick riders they literally only “balance” aka nerf reboot bc reg players in KMS complain about reboot. Can’t even say anything about totems when reg servers still benefit from having totems. I personally think the nerfs are bs but I wouldn’t mind just grinding back my final dmg but why the fk is it something that is temporary. “Reboot needs to be balanced” wtf are you smoking how many players are clearing hard content the vast majority of maplestory players on reboot aren’t even on ctene yet and now they are going to be even doing less damage.

          • Anonymous
            December 22, 2023 at 10:13 pm

True why bother explain to GMS player they cant even bother to balance their AS10 stuffs that causing massive imbalance among all 40+jobs. Dont even try to explain the balance between server to these GMS players bro, its waste of time. Just keep reboot as it is now and lets all regular players migrate to reboot. We will see how nexon implement a new p2w system in reboot server when the time came.

          • Anonymous
            December 22, 2023 at 10:32 pm

Majority of players on reboot are not even on ctene? Then do you know majority of the regular players still hard stuck on hard damien/ lotus? So u comment just justify reboot player hv better scaling than regular server even though regular server has to pay for progressing. Thanks for the honest comment on telling us about the gap between reboot and regular server are huge.

          • Anonymous
            December 28, 2023 at 3:27 pm

Most Reboot players aren’t even clearing H lomien either. Reboot will definitely have more players clearing harder content than reg though since most of the GMS player base is on Reboot. I do agree Reboot has better scaling but yall play on a p2w server and if you have complaints about scaling you should try to get your own server buffed instead of trying to make another server weaker to close this “gap”. If the roles were reversed and Reboot was shit and reg servers were crazy stronger I don’t think you would be happy about all the back to back nerfs with every update.

Unreal all these replies, are they playing the game or just logging in and saying hi to their buddies/guildmates? and logging out from the game? All you need is to do your daily and clear ur weekly boss content and you can easily maintain your artifact stats. Holy shit this is so unreal, reboot players benefit FREE 65% dmg for just existing in the game and refuse to play the game now Fcking LMAO. Next time just suggest Nexon give all free 200% final dmg to reboot the server and limit their play time to 10 minutes since they are not even playing the game.

Even with best setup with Artifact Union it’s still a ~2.5% FD nerf. This ‘FREE’ is still a nerf.

Considering that it has nothing to do with reboot’s nerf, I don’t understand why you’re so opposed to union artifact. It’s literally just monster life (it’s exactly the same buffs and everything), but with everything being easier to obtain. On top of that, your argument against the 30 days, in regard to the fact that IT IS monster life, is meaningless, since monster life mobs already have a lifespan of 30 days

    • Anonymous
      December 18, 2023 at 11:24 am

Reboot never deserved all that free FD from the beginner skill, it beats Reg server bpots and scrolls unless you go full on whale in Reg server to beat free damage that a private server have.

      • Anonymous
        December 20, 2023 at 11:08 am

The completely unhinged takes from reg server players on this post and on all other forums is a clear indicator of wanting your cake and eating it too.

You want the pro’s of reg through monster life (being replaced) and insane stat differences due to b-pots & scrolls, tradeability of end game items around which things like pitched DR are balanced, but also on reboot where non of this exists, you want people to have no similar systems whatsoever because they’re ‘free to play’.

Having damage balance between the two types of servers is key, and it is clear that reg has enormous advantages over Reboot which is why the FD boost exists in the first place and which is why it is not being completely removed.

Maplestory is a game of tremendously slow progression towards more power. Having some of it taken away, and then having the hole filled with an active system (that wont compensate for the entirety of the hole) that requires input and has the danger of falling off is not great in any regard. With an eye on the progression you’re looking to make, it is especially painful. No matter how small the difference might be once the Union Artifacts are up and running.

In closing: lets try to remain respectful and not gloat at other people’s misfortune or bad feelings, simply because you (wrongfully) feel like they are getting ‘free damage’ taken away.

        • Anonymous
          December 20, 2023 at 11:03 pm

Insane stat differences due to b-pot & scroll? Ok, bro remove FD, and let’s implement B-pot and scrolling as well in the reboot server. And “it’s clear regular has enormous advantage” on what? 1* mesos rate/ 1* boss crystal? Or do you mean u are forced to do L/L + 15% spell trace scrolling just to compete with current reboot dmg scaling by spending an enormous of $(enormous advantage)? And did you know how broken the hexa stat system giving out 60% FD increase and stacking with pre-nerf reboot passive 65% FD causing that reboot player can easily out dmg who are under 70-80k stats in kms and u are telling us this is what u called enormous advantage? If this is the balance or direction Nexon wished for, might as well just delete the regular server or ask the players who are below 80k stats just quit their regular server and migrate to the reboot server now. Imagine spending money just to play in an inferior server well done Nexon.

Another reg server obsessed with Reboot changes instead of nerfing reboot why not get Nexon to buff your own fking servers instead??? Why do you care so much about reboot you don’t even play on the server. Reg server players are always so happy when reboot gets nerfed and ask for more reboot nerfs why not just get more buffs on yall servers???? Fking toxic ass players

Which part of my sentence mentioning agree on reboot nerf? I am just reply to OP how reboot server is way better than regular server right now? Bro no nid to be so butthurt on some fact that reboot server is clearly a better server right now even after the 20% fd nerf. Or u can prove to me that u can use 1 year of time (without origin skill) + how much $ needed just to achieve BM in under 1year just like how KMS streamer did it? If Nexon does not want to balance between 2 server gap (reboot & regular), then just open reboot 3 right now and stop gatekeeping it in kms, I would like sell off all my gears and join reboot 3.

          • Anonymous
            December 28, 2023 at 3:35 pm

My bad man just tilted about the nerfs. I still do think instead of Reboot nerfs, reg servers should be buffed and adjusted to match Reboot if not better. It really hurts to get all these nerfs though, since reboot was advertised to have better exp rates and fd as f2p server but now after so many years they just take it away with every big update some nerf just comes along when we just want to play the game. I’m hype about all the big updates but then we get a nerf on top of it. Just doesn’t feel good at all. End game is already such a grind that most casual players will probably never get to see hard bosses like BM.

and you get your 13.5 stats maxed out.

You basically can’t keep anything, the most you could do is exchange your remaining Waru for Monster Life Coins and buy stuff from the ML Coin Shop (although I think 99% of those items are useless lol).
Your ML exp gets transferred to Artifact EXP (20:1 ratio).
For KMS, they are refunding Monster Life Gems but only if you bought them with NX within the last year. Stuff like Gems from Coin Shops don’t get refunded at all.

So for the artifact missions, it says, “This progress is reset every Thursday at 12:00 AM.” Does this mean if we’re getting at least 2250 points per week, we’ll have at least 9000 points by the end of the month?

    • Max

Thank you Max for the translations!

I am so glad that they picked trifling winds for windbreaker, I hope they skip fairy spiral for the next few releases *inhales copium*

“Boss entry limits have been removed.”

“The daily entry limit for Balrog and all weekly/monthly bosses have been removed.”

Does this mean you can clear them multiple times now?

No, there are some bosses that you can only enter 3 times a day if you don’t manage to clear them (like HWill). The daily entry limit removal just means you can enter and try to beat them however many times you want in a day but if you do clear them the weekly/monthly limit still applies.

      Clear limit != entry limit
You can enter bosses an unlimited number of times now but they still have the same clear limit.

I once asked nexon for a diablo 2 style equipment swap feature and after like 5 years… they finally made good!

Wow I am so behind on these updates.
Nice to see Lucid getting a new look and not surprised Monster life was getting killed off.

Some of those Janus skills look awesome.
