KMS ver. 1.2.377 – Mapril Island (Part 2)

This patch is basically identical to the test server in terms of changes and content (boss set tradeability & Symbol improvements). It also has some extra events for the second part of the 20th anniversary, Mapril Island.
Since I didn’t write the post myself for part 1, I’ll mention some cool things I noticed. Other than the event map itself having tons of easter eggs and throwbacks to past anniversary events (including being able to visit a lot of the old maps!), there’s a cool theme with the Mapril spirits. The main NPC is named Amely Ports, which I thought was a really weird name at first, but it’s actually an anagram of MapleStory! The other spirits (Mariella, Apricia, Plana, Leona, and Emma) are coloured the same as the five job icons, like in the Maple Union UI, and their initials spell out MAPLE. I hope this makes up for me not realizing that the Momentree NPC names were referencing Lith Harbor and Ellinia, which someone pointed out to me last month lol.
I know some people were a bit disappointed but personally I’m a big fan of this anniversary! The coin capping is extremely fast (1.2k mobs), the skill they added in this patch specifically is amazing for experience, the rewards are a lot better than previous events (three Maximum Growth Potions just from the daily attendance), the shop cosmetics look really good, and Dungeon/Frozen Blast was a hit of nostalgia.
The next official server update on June 15 will be the first patch of New Age, but we won’t get any information until the showcase on June 10, so the test server patch won’t be available until right after that. They’re going to start releasing teasers (including posters and music) in a few days though so maybe we can get an idea of what will be happening sooner!

A small test world patch was released yesterday, it’s pretty much the same as everything that Wonky mentioned in the live stream last week, as well as part 2 of the anniversary event.

Hey guys! I’m finally back from my vacation! I was in Japan for a couple weeks then Korea for a little less than a week. It was an amazing trip for many reasons, including being able to go to MapleStory Fan Fest (with Steve and Neo)! I am definitely going to be making a huge post about that, as well as the Nexon Computer Museum in Jeju Island, but first, I’d like to give a huge thanks to Kobe, Sunny, and Steve who helped out with the patch notes while I was gone. They did a great job and I’m really glad I don’t have to go back and work on those now haha.
Anyways, today, MapleStory’s general director Kang Wongki started a live stream and he talked about both the Fan Fest (Steve was in it!) as well as game changes that will be coming up. He mentioned that some of them were supposed to be implemented in the summer patch but they’ll be pulling them forward to the patch coming up in a couple of weeks!

This patch contains pretty much everything from the last test server patch, changes to the Dawn Boss set, Reboot World boss party rewards, additions to Maple Chronicle, skill changes, and boss updates (including a few more changes to Magnus and Dunkel). Other than that, it has the Spiegella’s Strawberry Farm and Magic Stone Slab events.
The next patch should be the 20th anniversary event, I wonder how big they’re gonna go for it!

This test server patch was released a day early actually (probably because of all the drama lol). It contains changes to the Dawn Boss set, Reboot World party bossing rewards, skill balancing, and changes to many boss patterns.
For those of you who don’t know, recently in KMS, there has been a sort of incident where a person that was hacking in the Seed was exposed, which kind of set off a chain reaction of other hackers revealing their programs and what they have been able to do for the past few years. They actually blocked access to the Seed a few days ago and it’s still not available!
Combined with the current atmosphere of players being mad about the state of regular servers, they are now angry that Nexon has not been sufficiently dealing with hackers. They have released a few different notices, including the issue overall, the things they are missing in their anti-hack approach, and updating the TOS to be more strict. Yesterday they released another notice saying they had banned 59 Maple IDs in regards to improper activity in the Seed. This one’s kinda funny because they also said that they have seen an increase in hacking activity over the past couple of days and they told people not to try hacking because they’ll definitely get banned lol.
