KMS ver. 1.2.387 – Meso Changes Implemented on the Official Server

After a week of the meso changes being on the test server, Nexon has decided to push them to the official server pretty much as-is. Everything that was in testing is included except for the changes to additional potential, which they said will be implemented within the first half of the year.
I think the idea is they’re going to do multiple, frequent patches now instead of the regular month-long cycles for these changes, maybe weekly? Seems quite haphazard to say the least…
Overview
- Potential Reset System
- Map Meso Acquisition Limit System
- Reboot World Adjustments
- In-Game Cube Acquisition Sources Removal
- Cash Shop
- Destruction King Ursus
- Improvements
- Error Fixes
Potential Reset System
The ‘Potential Reset System’ has been added that lets you use mesos to reset potential.
- In the Inventory UI, you can press the ‘Potential Reset System’ icon to use it.
- When resetting potential using the ‘Potential Reset System’, you can choose and apply the before or after stats.
- The cost of resetting potential is applied based on the item’s required level and current rank. The mesos required are as follows.
| Equipment Level | Rare | Epic | Unique | Legendary |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1~159 | 4,000,000 | 16,000,000 | 34,000,000 | 40,000,000 |
| 160~199 | 4,250,000 | 17,000,000 | 36,125,000 | 42,500,000 |
| 200~249 | 4,500,000 | 18,000,000 | 38,250,000 | 45,000,000 |
| 250~300 | 5,000,000 | 20,000,000 | 42,500,000 | 50,000,000 |
※ The Potential Rank Increase Guarantee system will also apply to resetting potential using mesos. The cumulative number is accumulated separately from the existing Cubes.
※ The potential rank increase rate, stat appearance rates, stat rank setting rates, and number of resets required to guarantee rank up will be applied the same as Black Cubes.
Map Meso Acquisition Limit System
When acquiring mesos, the base mesos and additional mesos will be displayed separately.
- Base mesos are the amount of mesos before the character’s meso acquisition increase stats and penalty based on the difference between character level and monster level are applied.
- Additional mesos are the amount of mesos increased or decreased based on the character’s meso acquisition increase stats and penalty based on the difference between character level and monster level, excluding base mesos.
※ If the reduction in mesos acquired due to the penalty based on the difference between character level and monster level is greater than the increase in mesos acquired due to meso acquisition increase stats, the meso penalty will be displayed as a negative number instead of additional mesos.
A limit will be applied to the mesos acquired from hunting by a character per day.
- When acquiring mesos from hunting, the base amount of mesos from the acquired mesos will be accumulated. If the daily accumulated mesos reaches the limit, the amount of mesos will no longer increase even if you acquire mesos from hunting.
※ Changes in the amount of mesos acquired due to meso acquisition increase stats and the penalty based on the difference between character level and monster level will not affect the daily accumulated mesos.
※ If you try to acquire mesos from hunting while holding the maximum amount of mesos, you will not be able to acquire mesos and the daily accumulated mesos will not increase.
The daily accumulated mesos will be reset every day at 12:00 AM.
The daily accumulated meso limit is applied on a per-character basis, and increases based on the character’s level.
| Character Level | Daily Accumulated Meso Limit |
|---|---|
| 1~99 | 20m mesos |
| 100~199 | 40m mesos |
| 200~259 | 80m mesos + (5m every 5 levels after 200) |
| 260~300 | 150m mesos + (10m every 5 levels after 260) |
※ If you have reached the daily accumulated meso limit and your limit increases because you leveled up, you can then acquire additional base mesos equal to the increased limit.
You can check the information about your daily accumulated meso limit by hovering over the ‘Meso’ button in the Inventory UI.

In this update, we are implementing the potential reset through mesos system and the various changes that were introduced in the test world last week. As mentioned in the live stream, the changes related to additional potential are not included in this update and we are preparing to implement them within the first half of the year.
The reasons why we are implementing these changes so quickly on the official server are as follows.
First, we decided that after announcing such major changes to the game, if we waited too long to actually implement them, it would increase the confusion felt by players and would limit regular gameplay.
In addition, we thought that the most effective and fastest way to stabilize the service would be to quickly check various indicators that can only be looked at after the changes are implemented in the official server, and then implement further updates.
As we said in the last test world’s developer notes, we plan to steadily continue our maintenance work on the production and consumption of mesos even after this update. We will do our best to make these changes a turning point in making MapleStory more fun.
Also, since Ursus content has been removed, we are planning to take additional necessary measures, such as changing the supplier of Mashoor’s Gift Weather Effect or changing Monster Collection conditions. Please wait a little and we will make it up to you with a better service.
Developer Notes

Nexon gets caught in a scandal (again) and yet they fan the flames of the player’s anger by pushing this BS change.
Truly one of the game companies of all time.
Well, removing the cubes from RL money to mesos is actually something good. The BS is the daily meso cap.. it is a joke, even for KMS.
But weren’t people already able to buy cubes with in game money through trading and transferring mesos to maple points? Now they can get away with rigging the rates since it doesn’t cost money. Welp
200-400m per black cube in gms, imagine getting a 10x buff, oh wait you play reboot. welp
🤏🤏🤏🤏
Have fun playing a dead game welp
they change it to mesos so gov not longer can caught them cheatting or just say game money not longer real money to cube but money>mesos>cube
wow. it all what i could to say. and the wow ia NEGATIVE.
This is probably the single worst update to any game I’ve ever seen. Nexon truly showing why they deserve their reputation of being a dumpster fire of a company.
yeah guys, it’s over. this is the countdown start for the end of GMS
Nice change to SEA server, Price for 1 stack bc worth about 4-5b compared to 50m each roll.
you don’t even know if they are going to implement it and they might jack up the prices and justify
rest in peace Ursus, you were too good for this world
gms really mocked about not being aligned with kms, here you are 🤏
lmao regular players laughing at reboot players while the ship they’re both on is sinking 😮💨
Oh no reboot sink 10times faster than regular server. I am waiting for nexon remove the remaining FD + boosted drop rate as well. 😮💨
that’s not how sinking ships work 😂
smartest Maplestory player
🤏🤏🤏🤏
Room temp IQ respond, as expected from a shroom game player
actual reg server player comment
this change is actually so good for reg, i hope this makes it to all the overseas serversreboot players cant stop talking about how hardcore they are that they play for 17hours a day, wfh, and get carried through everything they cant see that this change is making the server how it was back when it released, HARD
reg server is actually best now
It’s not making the Reboot server hard; it’s making it tedious and generally impossible to get into unless you already have an established account. For brand new players, the changes are basically “you’ll earn 20% what every player used to make, need 2x or 3x as much to cube anything, and all free sources of cubes are completely removed to guarantee you can’t progress without the grind.”Of course regular servers are the best after this change, Reboot just became “regular servers but no trading/bonus pots.” A character on a regular server in KMS can now grind mesos and upgrade their gear at the exact same speed as anyone on reboot, while being able to trade on top of that to further speed up progression and increase their quality of life.
good
🥱
🤏🤏🤏🤏
Reboot was supposed to be about progression instead of buying your way to the top as you did in reg…I don’t think you know what you are talking about lol.
Honestly, what they say is true but worded bad. Playing reg now is what reboot was but in the new style of maplestory. Seriously this is like a 9x buff to reg, and does make reboot as slow and annoying as it was on release.
it was hard to get to level 200 back on reboots release and 5th job just released I think. Nexon probably just got lazy and didn’t want to change anything too much which led reboot becoming extremely easy to progress in. You’d be crazy not to make a character there when the rates were good even if you mained reg. It’s a lot of free RP, and 8k legion start of lib is like a month or two now? probably a week without the 5%, no point paying, this had to happen.
8k legion start of lib in one month? What? you don’t sound like you play on reboot. You’re saying people were clearing vhilla and bm on week-old accounts last year…?
Reboot is already harder due to a lack of systems that reg has and you also cannot trade. This doesn’t make reboot harder, it just makes it more tedious as the other poster mentioned.5% change was good and about all we actually needed since you can’t just get carried for free drops, you have to actually at least be able to survive long enough for your carry to work while also putting out damage.Meso rate you could *maybe* argue was too high for reboot except for the fact that our pitched gear is completely RNG. It doesn’t matter how much meso you have if you never get pitched drops. We need a pity system for that and then I might be fine with the changes. SF and Cubes are going to eat all your meso though so say goodbye to mules.IMO keep the new meso rate but add a pity system to pitched and reduce cost of SF/Cubes to 50% of reg and reboot would still be a more tedious server but one where new players can actually still get their foot in the door.
Regular servers being literally turned into Reboot, and using “Literally Reboot cubes but in a UI” is such a weird thing to be good for Regular servers, considering how much ya’ll fucking hate Reboot.
I hope you like the massive influx of Reboot players coming to crash your economy now that you have a daily cap on how much meso you can earn. Those Reboot players you hate so much did just fine without the Meso Market, Trading of any kind, or Scrolls & Bonus Potentials. Now they are going to flood to the regular servers and out-play the fuck out of you.
Good luck being able to afford literally anything on Meso Market now that your server population and the price caps just quintupled.
Pretty sure the whole “hate” is from the fact the reboot server was way too easy. i play reboot and think it was unfair it was so easy, did i abuse reboot? yea… Honestly if you think reboot was not easy you are delusional and don’t deserve a say in what happens to reboot tbh
🤏🤏🤏🤏
Why bother explain thing to GMS’s players?. Reboot player being delusional on their 5*mesos, 2.3* exp was “balanced” compared to regular server and refuse to ask for balance gap between the servers lmao. The most constructive response u can receive from ur beloved reboot players are 🤏🤏🤏 . Forget to mention GMS players love to abuse broken shit like healing familiar to cheese on Kaling/Will/hilla. Just by looking at the reddit/gms discord they prefer broken shit than balancing lmao. Another example is AS0 lead to massive imbalance among all classes but GMS REFUSED to remove it coz they afraid their broken job gt nerfed HAHAHAHAHHA
6x mesos, get your facts straightIm enjoying the game while ur cryingWe are not the same 😉
gms reboot players act like they are so much better because they “didn’t pay” to get to end game on a boosted server for years
when the exp nerf was announced i swapped to reg and wanted to kms the rates were so bad like reboot players have no idea how entitled they sound
🤏🤏🤏🤏
Reboot players aint acting like we much better. Yall just salty your server is buns and get butt hurt over the few reboot players who make fun of reg players. Most reboot players are just enjoying the game and could care less about reg but now we can’t enjoy the game without getting nerfed left and right. Rather buff reg then nerf reboot. Literally just minding my own business grinding then everyone on reg praises reboot nerfs and talk shit about the players. Why not shit on nexon for shitting on reg servers and its player base. Same shit everytime whenever Nexon scandal hits reg and reboot players just yap at eachother lmao. I used to play on reg myself back in the day before switching to reboot and never looking back since it got popular.
How would people from Reboot even make progress, they’re already freaking out over losing their meso multiplier and they wouldn’t have their final damage. Spell traces are too scary for them as well.
Nah most reboot players are gonna just leave and since they make up the majority of gms servers o7 mushroom game.
🤏🤏🤏🤏
inkwell saving the real gms server while nonreboot gets shit on properly again life is good
Sad for both Servers. Only Max never Disappoints. Do not let Nexon taint you.
we of the reboot servers spent ten years asking for whom the bell tolls and now it tolls for us
we ought to have been more kind to the real server players who came before and paved the paths we ran upon
Reboot is basically SSF now.
SSF Ruthless like POE lol.
There are not many companies that can compete with EA in terms of absolute scum and sliminess, but Nexon really is trying to be the worst of the worst. Hopefully this will be the beginning of them offloading Maple to a legitimate developer that actually values its player base.
Reminder that the previous CEO of Nexon who after a decade just stepped down was also a ex EA Executive.Nexon isn’t work than EA, they literally are EA.
I don’t quite understand why they couldn’t just leave Reboot alone, but still give the changes to regular servers. There was NO need to screw over Reboot to improve the other servers. They could have just put through the cube changes (but not the stupid meso cap, and this applies to both servers) on the main servers and left Reboot as it is. What do they gain out of this, aside from pissing Reboot players off? They aren’t going to move servers because of these changes, not when they spent all that time on Reboot.
I’ve been asking for meso based cubing on main servers for awhile (I’m a year one player, and didn’t want to lose everything by moving, as I had items and cash covers I’d have a hard time/would be impossible to replace by moving servers. Not to mention I think I had two pages of characters by that point), but figured they’d, you know, just let us buy red and black cubes with mesos. Not screw over the whole damn Reboot. It’s too bad that they won’t listen to feedback, but that’s how it seems to be with their current staff. If they did, this wouldn’t have went through for Reboot at all.
because reg server whales were jealous people on reboot were having fun
Not really. People just said… okay let’s just play reboot then. And Nexon saw this and said “wait a second, no you wont”.
kms players are the definition of “cutting their nose to spite their face”
Koreans just started playing reboot since most of end game items were Untradable, so playing reboot was kinda the same as regular server but easier because all the buffs (FD, drop, meso increased and more) and being able to buy mesos without real life money. So once the migration to reboot was starting to be viral and popular… nexon said no way.. and started making regular worlds better and nerfing reboot. Why would nexon do this? Money.
Actually probably the worst game update to any game ever in the history of the world. Nexon is so clueless when it comes to what players want and why we enjoy the game.
….I can see this mess coming to GMS and meso bag’s being a big push to make sales to keep people in the cash shop
I really don’t like to be negative but I only see more dread coming down the road…jeebus…
I really doubt they start selling meso bags at cash shop. They’d need to remove meso market for that.
I keep forgetting about the meso market, That dose make a lot of sense
If it comes I won’t be surprised if they bring back the piggy banks. Scummy nexon
😂Piggy banks dang
We had a good run, back to buying 1b scrolls
amazing update! im so excited for this to be brought over 😀
🤏🤏🤏🤏
🤏🤏🤏
Playing other mmos and realizing they don’t get into scandals every month or nerf their players at any chance they get to get more money is actually eye opening
The mesos cap seems bad, but at the same time… even when clearing all daily bosses I could and hunting for 4 hours, I hardly ever reached these amounts on a daily basis per level brackets, it seems more like a cap for hardcore grinders playing all day and bots…
I don’t know what you’re talking about but you can do easily 300m per hour in regular server using meso gear with frenzy. Without frenzy (usual spawn rates) you can do 80-90m per hour.
So even without frenzy rates you can max meso on about to 2 hours which is probably what KMS is doing atm so, your “4 hours” to max are doubling the reality. These rates in GMS regular worlds would be terrible. Meso cap will need to be increased if we get this patch.
This is why former CEO SHITXON die without reason
i know KMS reg losers are angy now that Inkwell made GMS alright 🥱🥱
