In this patch, part two of the Great Maple Sports Meet was released, as well as the Boost Up event! Also, Nett’s Pyramid received the Hard Mode, which is for levels 100~119. Hopefully, the 120+ mode comes soon so I can get the medal…

It’s not as exciting as the confirmed revamps, but please read on! Something really interesting that was added in this patch is a great improvement to the Guild BBS system! You’ll know what I mean when you see it.

The Boost  Up event is made for people new to MapleStory, as well as people creating new characters! Every new character created during the event receives a free 30 day Pendant of the Spirit, for easier levelling~

Any character that reaches level 50 during the event receives a 20 day Boost Up Glasses, which give 3 to all stats, and 1 attack and magic attack. It is untradeable, but it can be traded through the account once with the Share Name Tag. I guess if you really wanted, you could time extend it…

Any character that reaches level 70 during the event receives the Boost Up Earrings, which give 4 to all stats, 70 MP and magic defense, and has 5 slots. It is untradeable, but it can be traded through the account once with the Share Name Tag.

This event also brings two new Hot Time events! The first was on October 15, and the second is on October 22. If you are logged in at 2:30 pm, you will receive a Teleportation Scroll and 10 Sports Meet Coins.

The Teleportation Scroll is very useful, its the same as the Legend Teleportation Rock that was released during the Legend update. For GMS players, I guess you could compare it to the Hyper Teleportation Rock, except it has a 30 minute cooldown in between teleportations. It lasts for 7 days.

The Sports Meet Coins can be used at Inkwell’s shop to purchase items~

One of the two new quests that have replaced the Party Ball fight for the Great Maple Sports Meet is the Timed Monster Hunting! Every 10 minutes, you’ll get a quest from Cassandra to defeat 200 monsters around your level within 7 minutes! If you succeed, you’ll get some experience and also a Sports Meet Coin~

The second is the Tug of War! Every XX:05 and XX:35, you’ll receive a letter that will teleport you to a map. You’ll be randomly placed on either the blue team or the white team. You’ll then have to attack the bear of the opposing team to lower their energy to zero to win!

If you win, you get 5 coins, if you lose, 3 coins, and if its a draw you get 2 coins.

Now about the Guild BBS. It’s different in kMS than in GMS, our guild board is actually connected to the internet (which is why it lags everytime you open the guild window). I’m sure most of you have seen the video lately of the person watching YouTube in MapleStory. Well, it’s true! The Guild BBS allows all types of HTML now, so you can embed videos~ You can see formatted text as well!

It’s a bit weird though, there’s no horizontal scrollbar so if the thing is bigger than the window, you wont be able to see half of it. Also, it does not detect mouse clicks, so the only way you can watch videos is if you can set it to autoplay in the HTML. It’s sorta laggy though.

Here’s an example of a .SWF file being played! Sound works as well (including for videos)~ You could basically make a SWF of your favourite music, post it, and keep it open while you’re playing MapleStory!

Hey… that page looks familiar… if someone links to a website, the Guild BBS will actually act as a web browser! It’s a bit glitchy though, on some websites there are scroll bars (horizontal and vertical), and on there are not (like this one). It’s also pretty slow, so it’s not very practical. Maybe people will start building Guild BBS-oriented websites?
