This Star Planet doesn’t really give much of an impact to me. I mean, it’s fun for socializing and wasting time, but not very rewarding (in my opinion).

The Shining Star Candidate character is also a bit unclear to me. It looks like you create an adventurer (from the hair and eyes), but what’s special about it, aside from starting in Star Planet? You could also just create a character the normal way, and go to Star Planet after your job advancement, right?

    • August 7, 2014 at 12:51 pm

yeah i agree, since it’s not a new class or something that effects the actual gameplay besides those star point things or whatever, it doesn’t make me excited to play maplestory.

If I understand correctly, when you actually enter the Star Planet, you’ll be playing as the character you specifically make for Star Planet (For now. It also sounds like a future update will allow you to just enter with whatever character you choose). That’s why you have to specifically make a newbie character for entering Star Planet with.

I hope the same for captain, I doubt anyone play or would play captain with their changes to headshot forcing people to rapid fire then stop for quick draw and then headshot and back to rapid fire? … lmao.. while captain already have too many short buffs and summons that makes him stop on firing .. I was hoping in this new patch they would fix captain to give people reason to create it more than pretty impress hat

I was rising some small hopes on this content BUT then I see “Level 33 and above”.

Nexon, what we always wanted is 170/200+ content that keeps us playing the game, there are just too many “quests and content” for 33+ that it’s really dumb, you have a bunch of quests to do that give similar amounts of EXP and doing one after another is barely worth considering their EXP is already somehow adjusted to the unlock level and beyond (but not too far, around 5-7 levels for “adjusted EXP”).

And that’s one of the main reasons I had to quit this game, little to no content past 170/200 and you just boss endlessly like a slave to archieve nothing :/.

you’re lucky enough to boss. I can’t afford NX so no bossing for me, meaning I quit sooner than you.

      August 8, 2014 at 12:50 am

and yet they keep taking content away from lowbies.

they need to stop taking lowbie content and making it for higher levels, and actually make some new stuff for the high level areas. and maybe try actually carrying storyquests on into higher levels.

PREACH! They focus on job creation 9 times out of 10. Enough with the new jobs. Just do a complete reworking of classes to make each one unique, fun, and balanced (although that is difficult seeing that they made so freaking many). Then fix ALL reported glitches. Then make NEW content for high levels. Which is messed up since high levels have needed new content for some time but all they did was make it easier to reach a high level which only exacerbated the problem.

          August 8, 2014 at 1:44 pm

I loved most of the classes but Nexon is like a rebel teenager that likes it’s room messed up (never cleaning their mess, sorry for the comparation).

They’d go better by closing the game a week or two and rework most things of it because all I see is a bunch of senseless updates that contribute in little to nothing to the main storyline and rather mess up what the fudge you have to do in this game.

After few updates ago I became bored of how Nexon is such a bunch of bullshet employees, I dunno that the “next class” is going to do something remarkable considering how Eunwol entered in a rather messed up update.

Nexon does not care about this game anymore, they just keep releasing “refreshing content” for those “hardcore” players and keep leeching their money away (again, it’s their money, they do w/e they want with it), at some point you realize your efforts go to the trash and that this game literally needs your money in order to archieve… something pointless. I am glad I somehow moved over to a better game with better administrating company and NO 6 MONTH GAP for a freaking update.

That’s why they’re making Maplestory 2. They’ve already screwed this game up enough in those aspects, so they’re starting from scratch. I personally like it when they make a new class. It’s a new playstyle to enjoy for awhile. But I’ll always end up going back to my Dark Knight.

Quarter view 2D games are normally tacky. Is [up] and [down] the screen going to be directional keys? If so will a new button be made for crouching, which is what [down] does right now?

Why the heck did they think we need this? The mini games are almost universally disliked, and the rewards are nearly impossible to obtain. And no rewards for the other 17 people who get a good rank? It’s garbage. This is a waste of an update. They could have brought back a theme dungeon or two, maybe have at least started to develop 5th job, they could have developed a new class, or added some new areas or theme dungeons. This feature will be as used as Monster Life is right now after a few weeks: a few people will use it, but it’ll mostly go unused. Also, why did this take so long to develop that it only goes live outside of Tespia at the end of this month? It’s pretty much stuff that already existed. And last month’s patch isn’t an excuse, nor honestly has anything been since Friend’s Story. I kind of wonder why it’s been like this lately–junk patches that are tiny. I suspect that they’re using money from ms1 to fund ms2, which would explain the junk content–they’d have less money to work with, which means less content, but there’s no proof. I just wish they’d give us something worth mentioning soon.

  13. August 9, 2014 at 6:13 am

I understand South Korea has somekind of KPOP mania and idc if they get *Star Planet but they better keep that to themselves. Other versions of MapleStory don’t need Star Planet content. Simply because not all versions have that many players.

If Nexon in any case decides that every version of MapleStory should have this SP* content they should fund into marketing the game outside internet, troughout the whole world. And I want to say that’s not a smart move to do given the current state of the game.
In short, SP should stay in KMS, hm, maybe you could extend it to GMS but for example little versions like EMS (with 2 actual worlds, Kradia and Demethos) absolutely have no need for hangout-here content.

Instead, I’m sure Nexon will fund into marketing MS2.

And like the comments mention above, I agree, yes, MapleStory should be fixed… for example, make it simplier. Resistance classes includin Demons and Xenons only need one button and not many. In the end it wont look so messy while, as you enter the game, it may, unless Nexon adjusts their quests.
Heroes (Legendary) just one button. Even this much would make it look better by being simple. If you want to do something about character creation, do this at least.
Not to forget skills, end game content as lore/story and so on.

  14. August 9, 2014 at 8:42 pm

hmm I like this idea of a place to go and not have to worry about levels and grinding and just hang out and even move in an isometric map,
I wonder what removing Hakaton and monster battle and stuff mean?

It’s not even worth the wait :/, GG nexon, I quit about some months ago after Y&I came to GMS, I am thankful though, I just looked at the site again just to see such a lame update (got to see a video of it, Jetts suck even more with those “revamps”, the new bosses are still sh!t and Kritias is the LAMEST LATEGAME CONTENT I HAVE EVER SEEN).

Good job nexon, you already ruined the game, not even 5th job is going to save it now.

  16. Rob
    August 16, 2014 at 6:57 pm

Yeah, this update is boring. But I think they are just trying to bring back casual players. If you ignore this update, the one before this was decent (enhancement system was revamped, so that’s one way you can increase your damage if you care about that), plus the update after this, it sounds like there will be high-level content (though probably best not to get your hopes up). Maybe we’ll finally see why 4th job SP was changed.
