kMSt ver. 1.2.002 – Fight! Return of the Legends!
Hey guys, a new Test World patch has been released! Although it doesn’t contain a new area or updated jobs, there is a new type of player versus player content as well as many other changes which users have been wanting for a long time!
Test World will be open from now until December 18 (when this patch comes to the real server)!
I can’t believe it took them so long to do this but Horntail no longer has the one person per channel limit!
Now, after an Elite Boss is defeated and the Bonus Stage begins, if your character level is 40 levels or higher than the map’s monsters then you will not be able to participate. I guess people can’t just camp low-level areas for them anymore haha.
A new feature has been added that lets you skip animations, which lets you skip any videos which are played. You just need to press the ESC key when the video begins to play.
Finally, you can now edit the order of your characters in the character select screen! Press the Edit Character Location button and then you can use the UI’s arrow to move them around. I actually am in love with this feature 🙂
A new damage effect has been added, called the Blade effect. With this effect, there will only be one line of damage, and consecutive attacks will overlap on this line. This allows you to see monsters’ movements and effects without being covered up by the damage.
They have also added Mini versions of the Base, Cascading, and Blade damage effects for users who wish to have smaller damage text.
The Monster Park Shuttle has been removed from the Quick Move UI, and can now be accessed through the Dimensional Mirror.
The Meso Market has been reorganized. It has now been separated from the Auction House and can now be accessed by talking to Miss Brainy in any town or through Quick Move.
The new Meso Market UI lets you check the fees and actual amounts you will pay/receive before you complete the transaction. New Meso Market related items have been added that allow you to receive extra Mesos (or Maple Points) when used. Finally, the fee for using Meso Market has been changed from a flat 5% to an incremental system.
The Resistance classes (Battle Mage, Wild Hunter, Mechanic) now have a Link Skill! The previously added Spirit of Freedom has become a skill you can share with other characters.
At level 1, it gives 3 seconds of invincibility when you respawn, and at level 2 it gives 6 seconds.
Star Planet has been slightly updated. Shining Stars will now be chosen once every two weeks instead of every week, on Thursdays at midnight. Also, the upper limit for the number of Star Points you can receive has been increased.
Shining Stars can now also begin a new game called Shining Star Bingo once per week. Anyone can participate in this game. In addition, they can begin Burning Time events twice per two weeks. While this Burning Time is active (for the next 5 minutes), everyone will receive 20% extra Star Points and Mileage from Star Planet! Shining Stars will receive a new item called the Shining Star Weather Effect which gives everyone in the map a 20% EXP buff.
The number of Star Points and Mileage you get per mini game has been adjusted, based on the length and difficulty of the game. This may be adjusted further during this test period.
A new mini game called Fight! Return of the Legends has been added! Talk to Kwaming in the Star Arena and enter a virtual space to become a legend of Maple World and fight with others.
This game is 3 versus 3, you and two allies versus three enemies, and you cannot select the same characters as your allies. Each character has specific abilities which are unlocked as you level up, and there are also passive abilities which you can use by spending gold. Characters include:
- Manji
- Mike
- Dark Lord
- Grendel the Really Old
- Mu Gong
By hunting monsters and your opponents, you can collect money and level up to become even stronger! I’ll try to get a video of this soon!

Also there were a ton of events in this patch but like always I won’t go over them for now. However, something I found really fun this year was that they finally brought back Happyville! kMS hasn’t been able to come here for a long time so the BGM was very nostalgic haha.
In addition, you can access old MapleStory maps through the new Happyville, and even fight the Crimson Balrog! There were a few other maps such as one from Omega Sector and one from Korean Folk Town as well.
This Happyville also lets you collect old MapleStory items such as Maple Hats, Snowboards, and even things like the Icarus Cape which has been unavailable for a while. I’m excited~
Not sure if I like the new PvP so far, but it’s turning out to be interesting.
This sounds great! Now we just need news about 5th job and our lives will be complete 🙂
I agree 😛
wen evan
When will they add the possibility of changing link skills without re login between dozen characters?
YES! Someone else gets my pain….
i hope they make it real…
I like how they’re slowly creeping in MS2
I don’t understand what on earth is going on lately… No pre update, no new classes, hastily revamped Resistance and heck, not even a name for this patch. This feels like a last effort to stall players on this game until MapleStory 2 release.
Seriously… Even Elsword is getting a better update than MapleStory recently.
I fail to understand how Elsword is getting a better update. When it comes down to it, that game is always revolving around who’s more op in pvp. Also, it comes down to how this will impact other servers because KR Elsword has it better off than NA Elpoop.
I fear Elsword is probably going to dive into an abyss farther than Maple would ever had in terms of speculation. So why would you introduce a new character(s) that requires different equipment sets like that? Basically, Nexon is trying to ease off money milking from the old games unto new ones like Elpoop (which is pretty bad in places other than Korea as the game isn’t that popular).
As for maple, I’m not defending it either because it’s been through ups and downs. But if you guys claim 5th job is coming, you better wait a while because fast changes do not make players happy all the time. Just because you didn’t get a pre update does not means the game has gone to shit. You don’t want to give people false expectations either nor lead on to much if you want to keep the players playing your game sheesh. It might as well be a real surprise or a letdown, but you know with all they changed Maple with its hard to keep up in between my breaks with classes.
nexon is the only reason the kr version of elsword isn’t the same pit of hell the other versions are. kog` are horribly greedy idiots. look at elsword anywhere that nexon isn’t running it, and you see all the things that cut down on the cash whoring and make life suck less for people who aren’t cashing removed entirely. you even see content that was originally free made cash-only for no more reason than kog` being greedy.
also, only idiots care about elsword PVP because it’s hypersensitive to latency and never was set up in a way where you could think there was balance.
LOL I’d say about time a patch with no new jobs, we have like 40+. But why can’t they add something like the first version PvP already, the one with no potential effect and people who actually use their skills, that was the most amusing content that maplestory ever had.
I say the option to change characters’ login order is just great, I’ve been suggesting to my maple version for months.
The old version was good but some classes became too overpowered when some are super weak. For example my aran couldn’t stand a chance against the demon slayers. Maybe that’s why they changed it?
Also not to mention in the time from then to now, there are some really overpowered crap out there. If we kept the old PvP, then I might speculate that everyone better be playing a Zero or Eunwol because they are strong as f***. Then all your other characters can’t keep up and win, so you end up playing PvP as what people are seeing as winning.
Basically another ElFailure (as the pvp in that game leans more towards Crimson Avengers and Diabolic Espers).
This patch wasn’t the only update that had no new classes(I,e the Summer patch for this year)But, it is a bit disappointing that they didn’t add a new class for the winter patch seeing as they didn’t have one for the Summer. But, I do have to agree with Shiro, their patches have been relatively lack luster lately, especially in regards to what we got last year for the Summer. Lately their patches have consisted of VERY minor percent tweaks to the classes and a few changes to the overall game mechanics, but nothing truly significant. The only exception to this is Black Heaven, Friend Story, etc.. It seems as if they are rushing out patches just so they can say that they have done so especially in this case since their isn’t even a name for this patch. As for the Resistance revamp the only one that wasn’t rushed was Mechanic, and partially Wild Hunter.Battle Mage on the other hand shows that Nexon didn’t listen to their users in some regards because why wouldn’t of they allowed their auras to be stackable, etc even though they must of known that users didn’t like the changes. In terms of these updates I find that the log.in customization could be useful, while the PvP could of been foregone to something else(a new class, or.other significant updates) because they have released PvP content before, but it tends to be ignored after a few weeks, and as a result.Nixon eventually gets rid of the feature, only to repeat the process again.
am I the only one here who is happy that there isnt no new op job?
When are they going to revamp Aran and Evan’s storylines?!?!
Forget that, they need a complete revamp. Have you seen magic guard? It’s STILL pre red
Oh look, convenient things that Nexon America is going to exclude from GMS. Woop woop!
On a side note, I suspect one of the reasons patches are lackluster as of late is because Nexon is devoting a lot of resources to the development of the 5th Job Advancement. I mean, there’s more than just a new set of skills that will come with it, there is a lot they need to have done. They’ll need to add the skills, job advancement quests, a new area for 5th Job players, NPC’s for the new area, new mobs for the new area, a boss for the new area, probably exclusive items from said new area mobs/boss, and miscellaneous quests for the new area, and this isn’t even including the events that will be designed to accompany 5th Job and this hypothetical new area. If they don’t add this kind of stuff, then the release will be a dud compared to the release of 4th Job (which was huge) because not only is 5th Job groundbreaking (4th Job already had room for it level-wise while 5th needed room made for it, level-wise), it’s been speculated for years and the hype is insane. They will at least pretend to give a darn about making it a big deal. Be patient about the patches, ladies and gentlemen, ’cause we all know the greatest thing since 4th Job Advancement is coming.
I could almost imagine how op kannas would be in pvp, if it were the old pvp. Being able to bind with multiple skills, lots of dot/full screen attacks, being able to block 6 attacks, and full hp heals
Garbage update.
update xenon fker
I’ve been asking those gms mods about character re-arrangement for years (glad it’s finally been sent to the kms team)
That new pvp… reminds me of MOBAs… it is an actually interesting concept.
LF>a update with Evan & Aran instead of this useless shit.
It’s called, MIB: Maple Ice & Burn… For a reason~! 🙂
this feature benefits everyone, but only benefits freaking small of gamers playing arans or evans who have limitless greed for revamp
“Limitless Greed”: Those 2 classes haven’t had an ACTUAL update in years. Hell, Evan still has the same old skills it’s had since release. Meanwhile at Battle Mage… Gets 4 complete revamps, complains about each and every one.
BaM didnt got 4 revamps, only 2 “revamps”
The first one changed completely the job, only kept the aura system, almost a new job (actually idk why they didnt created a new job with those skills, since a lot of ppl liked it)
The recent one actually was a nerf, so… Just dont say bs. I bet that if ur evan gets a revamp that changes completely the gamestyle and sht, or nerfs the dps, etc, u wouldnt be happy
Evan already got a major nerf, when it first released, also I heard bams complaining about revamps after every revamp they had, not just this recent one.
Evan will never be nerfed, because its in the perfect place in the dps chart, the middle, I just want newer animations, other wise the class will become boring for me and it already is…
I don’t care for damage, there is no “limitless greed” for me, all I want is newer animations instead of these nearly half a decade old boring animations.
And by the way, pvp was already here, and still no one played it, so the main part of this update will not tower above the Evan and Aran revamp’s importance, as it is not important.
This entire game has a “freaking small” amount of players, so nothing is really important technically.
Hey… that pvp mode is based off of mobas.
this is the best update ever…….is any1 else hyped about mini sized damage font… why are the damage font size even bigger than the characters in the first place.
For dramatic effect.
Aran is love, Evan is life.
Hey, the new Resistance link skills, are they stackable like the Knight of Cygnus ones? Or can you only use one of them at a time?
looking at the pic max posted, the max lvl of the link skill is lvl 2, i assume that it is not stackable. then again, if its stackable, it will be dam op wont it? 18sec of invul after being revived @.@, so nope.
Question: will those old pvp attack boosting things (ambition, rising sun equips) affect this new pvp?
i see how it is… no archer cchar for pvp…
Anyone else thinks that the patch name is kind of misleading? I thought that it meant Legends classes will be getting a revamp. Made my balls excited for a second.
That patch 5ucks so badly. Nothing is good about it. Waiting for 200+ since nexon makes excelent content.
Hey Max, I had a question about the revamped Wild Hunter.
Do you know if you still keep the jaguar-specific bonus (Example: Damage reduction and Status resistance of Armoured Crimson) if it’s SUMMONED but not ridden? I’m asking because bossing is done on foot after the revamp.
Thanks!
THANK GOD! I wanted to organize my char standing placement, Also I was thinking Grendel was going to be a class like Mihale…whew…..Glad to read a head and not assume after seeing a video title
