The MapleStory V update is officially over! This patch includes a small number of changes but is mainly targeted towards events, about Chuseok/Hangawi, a harvest festival that takes place in Korea. Even Lucid is taking part in the festivities!

They didn’t actually make an update info center video for this patch (probably because it was just events) haha.

Game Related

An error where Evans/Kinesis who completed the 5th job advancement could not use Mastery Books has been fixed.

An error where the ‘Horntail’s Last Hour’ quest could not be completed in the Arcane server has been fixed.

An error where Cygnus jobs who completed the ‘Shinsoo’s Gift’ quest after completing the 5th job advancement did not correctly receive the Cygnus Knights skill has been fixed. If you had completed the quest already, your SP can be reset by talking to the Maple Admin.

The character creation screen will now show the remaining number of characters you can create that day.

An information notice has been added to Cash Trade window, detailing specifics about how it works.

This wasn’t mentioned in the patch notes but they finally updated that old UI that appears when you receive a gift in the Cash Shop!

You can now see the connection time window and PC Room-only quickslots by clicking on the NPC Vivi’s icon on the left side of your screen.

The Starry Night Orchid NPC has been removed from Henesys and Leafre.

An error where when fighting Lucid, if you died and resurrected, your damage range would sometimes be decreased has been fixed.

An error where Cannon Shooter would not receive the Beginner Adventurer medal after completing the 1st job advancement has been fixed.

Skill Related

The following skills have been changed:

•  Dark Spear: attack speed has been increased, cooldown has been increased, damage has been decreased
  • Level 1: Consumes 350 MP. Create a spear of darkness that deals 330% damage 7 times on up to 12 enemies with an additional 100% critical rate and 50% defense ignore continuously for a short period of time. Cooldown: 14 seconds.
  • Level 25: Consumes 350 MP. Create a spear of darkness that deals 570% damage 7 times on up to 12 enemies with an additional 100% critical rate and 50% defense ignore continuously for a short period of time. Cooldown: 14 seconds.
•  Shadow Spear: activation rate has been decreased
  • Level 1: Consumes 1000 MP. For 51 seconds, whenever you attack with a dark property skill (except Shadow Spear), there is a 35% chance of creating a shadow carving in the ground. After a short period of time, the shadow carving will turn into a shadow spear and deal 156% damage 4 times on up to 8 enemies. When a shadow spear activates, if there are a certain number of shadow carvings near it, it will change into a giant shadow spear, dealing 620% damage 6 times on up to 12 enemies. The giant shadow spear can activate every 3 seconds. Cooldown: 180 seconds.
  • Level 25: Consumes 1000 MP. For 75 seconds, whenever you attack with a dark property skill (except Shadow Spear), there is a 35% chance of creating a shadow carving in the ground. After a short period of time, the shadow carving will turn into a shadow spear and deal 300% damage 4 times on up to 8 enemies. When a shadow spear activates, if there are a certain number of shadow carvings near it, it will change into a giant shadow spear, dealing 1100% damage 6 times on up to 12 enemies. The giant shadow spear can activate every 3 seconds. Cooldown: 180 seconds.
•  Jaguar Storm: you can now use Jaguar Storm once again after using it to resummon all the Jaguars to your current location
•  Guardian of Nova: you can now use Guardian of Nova once again after using it to resummon all the Guardians to your current location

•  Typhoon/Gale: attack ranges have been adjusted

The following errors have been fixed:

• An error where you could use certain 5th job skills while riding certain mounts has been fixed.
• An error where the client would sometimes exit if your summon attacked while you had an Ability that increased your attacking skills’ maximum number of monsters hit has been fixed.
• An error where you could put in SP to Soul Master’s Solunar Slash has been fixed. All SP that was already used for this skill has been refunded.
• Errors where Night Walker’s Shadow Spear was not affected by mastery, servants’ attacks did not activate Shadow Spear, and Shadow Spear would cancel Dark Sight have been fixed.
• An error where if you used Aran’s Final Blow with a Command, your defense ignore would not properly apply has been fixed.
• An error where Resistance’s link skill, Spirit of Freedom, would sometimes not appear on the Link Skill UI has been fixed.
• Errors where Zero’s Limit Break would not apply to Throwing Weapon and a certain monsters would take reduced damage after being affected by Limit Break have been fixed.

Item Related

The Dragon’s Stone which can be used on the Horntail Pendant/Chaos Horntail Pendant now gives 750 HP in addition to its current stats.

Cash Shop

In the Cash Shop, the Abundant Hangawi Discounts event has begun and will run until September 21. A lot of special item packages will be on sale during this period.

Returning Minigame Station

The Minigame Station has returned and will run until September 28!

At the minigame station, you can (obviously) play various minigames. They include Maple Omok, Match Cards, Maple One Card, Maple Marble, and Psychic Yutnori. Most of these were no longer available in KMS due to the removal of Star Planet.

You can play Maple One Card/Maple Marble/Psychic Yutnori up to 10 times per day (they all share one limit) but you can play Maple Omok and Match Cards 10 times per day each.

Based on your rank/if you won or lost, you’ll get Persimmon Coins!
