KMST ver. 1.2.048 – Drop Rate Changes

After an entire month (!!!), a new test server patch has been released! Sadly, it doesn’t contain any sort of new content but there are some very interesting changes, including to drop rate.

The last event in KMS ends on the 26th but this test server period ends on the 30th so I’m not sure when this will be coming to the official servers. After this, the next patch will almost certainly be the anniversary update, so I hope they add in more than just some events!

The item drop rate increase formula has been changed.

  • Item drop rate increasing effects will now be applied at the same time instead of being applied in a certain order based on the source’s type.
  • For some items, quest items, and event items, drop rate increasing effects will now only be partially applied.
  • The drop rate of Core Gemstones has been increased.
  • The effects of Union’s Luck and Wealth Acquisition Elixirs have been increased.
    • Union’s Luck: 30% item drop rate → 50% item drop rate
    • Wealth Acquisition Elixir: 10% item and meso drop rate → 20% item and meso drop rate

When Star Force Enhancement cost discount events and MVP/PC Room discounts are applied at the same time, the pre-discount cost will now show the original cost.

  • This change was made to reduce confusion as previously, the pre-discount cost would show the event-discounted price. The discounted price will be calculated the same as before, the event discount then the MVP/PC Room discount.

Skill Related

The cooldown reduction potential on Hat equipment has been changed. Now, if a skill has a 10 second cooldown or less, only a percentage of the potential’s cooldown reduction will apply.

Chains of Hell Dual Blade’s Chains of Hell‘s damage has been increased from 105% → 150% and its number of hits has been decreased from 10 → 7.

The following errors have been fixed.

  • An error where Shadower’s Shadow Assault Shadow Assault could hit Mimics has been fixed.
  • An error where the contaminated area and real damage area created by Cannon Shooter’s icbm ICBM were different has been fixed.
  • An error where some of Wild Hunter‘s summoned jaguar’s attacks’ damage would not apply has been fixed.

Quest Related

The following errors have been fixed.

  • An error where the ‘Final Shout Towards Victory’ quest’s completion conditions and description did not match has been fixed.
  • An error where Luminous’ ‘Making the Protector Robot’ quest would take more materials than stated upon completion has been fixed.

How exactly does the “Item drop rate increasing effects will now be applied at the same time instead of being applied in a certain order based on the source’s type.” work? Somewhat confused.

and how much partial drop rate will be applied to what certain items?

Honestly I can’t say anything about that. This is everything the patch notes say about this topic 😦
However, I did read on Insoya that drop rate might now be just like defense ignore, where you can’t get over 100%. It’s hard to confirm drop rate related stuff!

“Dual Blade’s Chains of Hell‘s damage has been increased from 105% → 150% and its number of hits has been decreased from 10 → 7.”

It’s because of their Mirror Image isn’t it?

Yea, since the max lines is 15 it’s to make it so you’re not losing out on damage so to speak.

The item drop rate increase formula has been changed.

Ummmm – What on earth is this going to mean?

    • Anonymous
      March 24, 2017 at 12:37 am

Hmmm… The only thing I assume is everything now may just be addictive =/

I think different order may mean different drop sections like how 2x event = doubling ur current drop rate.

For example, now would be something like:
      60% from Spider
      2x Event
would result in (1.6*2) = 3.2x drop rate.

If it now becomes “applied at the same” (addictive) :
      1 + .6 + 1 = 2.6x drop rate
the first 1 being neutral drop
      the .6 being the 60%
and the last 1 being the 2x event.

I believe this is what they meant because when we calculate drop we add everything that are classified together: For example our drop gear.

Imagine we have 3 20% drop gear. This would result in something like this when not “applied at the same” and assuming a 2x event is happening:
      [1 + (.2 +.2 +.2)] * 2 = 3.2x drop rate
the first 1 being neutral drop
the 3 .2s being the 20% drop gears
and the last 2 being the 2x event

But if they were “applied at the same” which I believe is addictive it would be something like this…. :

      1+.2+.2+.2+ 1 = 2.6x

the first 1 being neutral drop rate
      the 3 .2s being 20%s
and the final 1 being the 2x event.

cause no matter how you see it, the additive math is very straight forward and “applied” all at once, which in this case, what ever you have, just add it. Whereas if it was the current calculations, it has to be first sorted into their drop category then it can be calculated (ex : the drop gear being put in one category while coupons being in another and 2x event being in another.)

Of course, i can be wrong of it being additive and it might actually be just straight up multiplicative which in the long run would result in much higher drop rates.

For example: 9 20% drop gears.

      if addictive: 9*20 = 180% drop = 2.8x drop rate.

      if multiplicatve. 1.2^9 = 5.159780352 drop rate

but lets be honest…. it is fken koreans and fken nexon… they is no fken way they would ever give us 5x drop rate. and it would most likely be additive….

That how exp worked, so they changing drop like that doesn’t look too weird… and that also explain how people with more drop rate drop a lot of nodestones.

    Same question as above people.

    And one more:

How much % is it exactly? Please let me know, this is very important for us Demon Avengers D:

If that is true then if you buy a 2x card isn’t that already 100% ? and if you have 2x drop card + 2 x buff what would happen? so what does it mean to get 2x drop card for you? if it not 100% then what is it? 50%? lol

I’m curious to see how these drop changes will affect non-KMS things such as Familiars and our current multiplicative CS/GMS-exclusive drop cards. I’m guessing these will not be affected given GMS’s track record but I’m prepared to have my Wolf/Spider familiars lose their effectiveness.

Also was kind of hoping that Arcane Symbol drop rate (as well as their icon size) increased in a patch like this but oh well.

    • Max

The notes don’t say anything about removing quests, I bet they’re just making it easier to finish the quests (like requiring less kills/items/etc).

Yeah the lowered time in ellinel academy (as far as I got on my char on tespia this wipe) raises drop rate on the slime crystals, lowers the amount of leaves you need (20 from 30), raised the drop rate on the plant encyclopedia (got it first kill!), raised the rate at which you acquire the “right note” from those book mobs (3rd try for the blue, 4th for the pink, versus 10-15 on both previously), only needed 30 onions and 50 turnips, too. I’d assume the other dungeons got similar changes. Nothing major, the storyline wasn’t actually changed at all but it was a lot quicker. Took maybe an hour to get through it entirely, going at a leisurely pace (and dealing with tons of other people farming too). Hopefully ariant and mushroom castle got a lot easier. Mushroom castle is a huge pain in the butt with the backtracking you have to do, and lengthy, unskippable cutscenes.

Uh, so after looking at everything, I can’t help but be curious… Lunar Dew. And the class respective orbs. Is that questline gonna get easier, or harder? I’ve been thinking about getting an Adventurer thief on Reboot(without the NL bandwagon) with Vampire, just for kicks. If anyone could tell me anything regarding such, I would greatly appreciate it.

Actually, I may have an eventual answer for what Nexon Korea might actually do. They may incorporate the old skills into the new V matrix(after some touch-ups) and allow the use of the skills to all respective classes after some remake of the questline. Imagine a 5th job version that allows Luminous, Battle mage, Kinesis, and Evan to use a enhanced version of Flame gears, or Phantom using Vampire(enhanced), or some other combination. Fingers crossed!
Personally, I hope that if they do preform minor touchups, they make it so that Sharkwave, Windshot, and Soul driver would be allowed to be used without cast animation(so you can cast it without delay) But for now, lets wait.
