KMST ver. 1.2.054 – New Job, Illium!

Illium Character Create

Another new job has been added to the test servers! Illium, The Wings of Brilliance, is a new magician job of the Lef race (Wooden Lef to be exact). The Wooden Lef race was in a war with the High Lef race, and all of the High Lefs were wiped out except for one, Gerald Darmoor.

New Job: Illium

Backstory

Grandis - Ancient War -

Hundreds of years ago, the Lef race with their natural magic wings used powerful magic to create a brilliant civilization. They were divided into two groups when the High Lefs wanted to conquer all other races in Grandis while the Wooden Lefs wanted to coexist, leading to a civil war. After the war, the narrowly surviving Wooden Lefs hid themselves in the deepest part of Grandis.

Illium is a descendant of those surviving Wooden Lefs. He had genius talent when working with machines but did not possess the innate magic abilities of the Lef race. However, in a crisis, he used the ancient Crystal which was hidden in the town to gain magical abilities. Knowing that the ancient Crystal is the only hope to bring salvation to the Wooden Lefs, Illium adventures to Maple World to find the Ancient God’s Sanctuary, while avoiding enemies of the Crystal, to save the Wooden Lef race.

Illium resonates the ancient Crystal with magic abilities to deal massive damage to enemies and enhance allies. When the Crystal is filled with magic, Illium absorbs it and for a short time, can fly freely and use powerful skills. Illium, who can work well with machines, also gets help from his mechanical creations.

NOTE: Nexon has commissioned an artist to draw a webtoon called Grandis -Ancient War-, similar to the ones for Orca/Suu, Demian, and Zero. You can read it here. Only one chapter is available at the moment.

i was so hype i was thinking he was gonig be a nova dragon android race with like thunder wings… but… no hes… a dark elf with holy magic powers and robot powers… and since hes a mage i guess hes going die easy… crap he looks so damn cool as well T.T (think this is the 2nd class where its plot wise only black char other then male/female aran)

Man, it’s not a new boss… -.- And in the video shown last time, Illium looks strikingly hot but now that I’ve seen the real small character in game (with the uncanny pointy ears jutting out), I’m kinda disappointed with the in-game art design for the character. T.T And Nexon, pls if u have time to create more and more characters to complicate the skill balancing, why don’t you focus on the existing jobs and revamp some seemingly abandoned jobs like mecha or shad and do some better damage output balancing for all jobs… Not much highly-funded players are likely to change all their pro eqs for a new job. You’ll just end up catering to low-funded players who just play for fun a short period or creating more mule chars only for maple union…

i dont think they will do revamp on the class. As it is too complicated for them.

Hey max want to clarify something from an old post. You said all mu lung glove will be considered a lucky item and also mentioned applies to glove you currently have. Does this mean tyrant gloves will be considered a lucky item too? Thanks for the clarification.

    • Max

No that line meant any Mu Lung gloves that you already have at the time of the change would become Lucky items too.

Pretty sure he menant, if you happened to have one of the dojo gloves prior to the update, it would also have the joker/lucky item effect.

Anyone here also think they should have held on to this guy a bit longer, I mean those peeps from KMS must be experiencing burnout after leveling their Cadenas only for this new dude to be released a while later.

PS: Anyone who has seen Caligula knows how bad an idea it was for them to call the spears “Longinus.” I wonder if GMS will catch my “reference” and change the name?

    • Anonymous
      July 29, 2017 at 9:37 pm

longinus is the name of the soldier who wielded the holy spear in the crucifixion of jesus. It’s not meant to be a reference to caligula, cause I doubt it’s even been localized to korea, frankly. We all know how much asians love their religious references so it’s generally safer to assume a reference in that regard will be towards the holy, and less towards the movie in which they try to paint the soldier as a gay dude, which isn’t really relevant at all to the fact the dude had a spear that could supposedly pierce the side of one of the most powerful nigh-omnipotent beings in the universe.

But yeah, asians, god killing, nothing new.

      • Anonymous
        July 30, 2017 at 9:59 pm

I never said that it was a reference straight up, I do know who the original Longinus is, however my remark was more or less a shoutout to those who saw Caligula and suddenly remembered that familiar name come to their mind.

PS: True dat on Asians and god-killing amirite, it aint an eastern rpg if you arent killing an “immortal” entity or just flat-out God.
