KMS ver. 1.2.406 – MapleStory Assemble: The First Adversary!

The third patch of the MapleStory Assemble update has been released, featuring the new boss, the First Adversary, as well as a round of skill balancing (that will continue in the next two months) and boss system changes. There were some additional skill changes from the test server and I think I got them all but if you see any mistakes or anything I missed, please let me know!
The next official server patch will be on September 18, with the new level 280 theme dungeon, so the test server patch should be a week earlier.
Changes Between KMST ver. 1.2.406 and Live Server Update
The First Adversary
Common
- In Easy/Normal/Hard Mode, the Power of Order reduction based on the number of party members when hit by attacks has been adjusted.
- Extreme Mode’s HP has been increased by 5%.
- Zero’s Critical Bind will no longer be applied.
- The First Adversary will no longer have its colour changed from skills.
Phase 1
- An additional effect will be displayed when an enhanced attack is activated.
- The Shadow Rush’s attack range has been decreased by about 13%.
- The Warrior’s Mark effect has been changed.
- The Warrior’s Mark’s first attack will be activated about 0.5 seconds later.
- In Hard/Extreme Mode, the Power of Order reduction when hit by the Warrior’s Mark/Space Slash has been decreased by 50%.
Phase 2
- The Power of Order recovery and Immortal Will’s cooldown reduction effects can now only be activated up to 3 times per 1 usage of Elements of Chaos.
- The Arrow Stone Crush warning effect has been changed.
- The Scatterring Arrows and Arrow Stone Crush attacks will no longer be activated at the same time.
- In Hard Mode, the Power of Order reduction when hit by the raining fragments/Arrow Stone Crush has been decreased by about 33%.
Phase 3
- An additional effect will be displayed when an elemental attack is activated.
- Fixed an issue where the Shadow Sweep’s 3rd attack hitbox was applied faster than the actual rush.
- In Hard/Extreme Mode, the Power of Order reduction when hit by the Space Slash has been decreased by 50%.
Boss Monster System Reorganization
- Kaling (Easy) will now drop 1 Ferocious Beast Entanglement Ring Fragment.
- Kaling (Normal) will now drop the Chaos Pitch Black Accessory Box.
- Kaling (Hard/Extreme) will now drop the Grindstone of Faith.
- Kaling (Hard/Extreme) will no longer drop the Grindstone of Life.
- The guild contribution limit has been changed from 5,000 per day to 35,000 per week. The base contribution acquired from defeating the following bosses has been increased from 1500 to 3000.

Skill Changes
Developer Notes:
After reviewing the various feedback sent by players after the skill reorganization work implemented in the previous test world, we decided that the following points required improvements.
- Reduced action delay/damage reduction resulting in negative combat performance.
- A problem where the character’s direction changed when using Teleport backwards after the action delay reduction.
- Additional improvements to certain jobs/skills/system changes.
First, regarding the perceived negative impact on combat performance, skill damage was overall reduced to compensate for the decreased action delays. However, we determined that the negative impact of the skill damage reduction outweighed the benefits of the delay reductions in actual combat situations.
Although this issue was unintended, reducing the action delays and improving the game’s controls are necessary measures. Therefore, the damage reductions (except for certain unavoidable ones) implemented in the August 14 test world update will not be implemented, and only the action delays will be decreased.
This could result in a larger-than-expected damage difference between the jobs included in this update and those that will be included in the future, potentially lasting for up to 2 months. Therefore, we will implement a temporary final damage increasing passive skill for jobs that were not included in the August update. This passive skill will be removed when the job-specific work is implemented.
Additionally, with the action delay reduction, we have confirmed a problem where teleporting in the opposite direction you are facing created a different skill usage experience. To address this, rather than simply rolling back the action delays, we are planning to reduce Teleport’s delay to improve controllability while maintaining similar function.
Finally, in addition to the action delay adjustments, we will also be making overall skill adjustments including bug fixes. We would like to share with players osme of the key points that need to be addressed first.
For Blasters, after reviewing the feedback from many players, we have decided not to take away the fun that existing Blaster players have by keeping the Charge features for Ducking/Sway and Hammer Smash. However, we think that utilizing two Charge skills (Ducking/Sway and Hammer Smash) in certain combat phases is too difficult. Therefore, Blast Hammer Smash has been changed to reload a certain number of bullets when used without the Charge and Cancel features to provide an improved combat experience.
Also, although the special skill ring update were intended to improve the control experience, we found that in certain situations, using two rings consecutively created a numerical advantage in combat. This was an unintended experience and we will increase the cooldown of the special skill ring exchange so players aren’t forced to do so.
We at MapleStory will continue to do our best to provide a better combat experience.
- A new beginner passive skill that increases final damage has been added to certain jobs.
- Adventurer Magician’s Teleport/Battle Mage’s Teleport Ver. 2/Kaiser’s Final Figuration’s teleport delay has been decreased.
- Infinity’s final damage boost formula will no longer be affected by Inner Ability’s passive skill level increase effect.
- Blaster’s Ducking/Hammer Smash/Sway’s Charge feature has been readded. Blast Hammer Smash will remain the same as the test world update and will not have a Charge feature added.
Special Skill Ring
- After using Ring Exchange, the minimum cooldown applied to Ring Activation and Special Skills has been increased from 5 seconds to 10 seconds.
Etc.
- The lower transparency limit applied by the ‘My Character’s Skill Effect Transparency’ option has been decreased.

Venom Burst
- This skill has been changed into a passive skill.

- The feature where you could consume the DoT to attack enemies has been removed.
- The feature where the DoT spread has been removed.
- The DoT attack logic has been changed to be the same as regular skill’s attack damage logic.
- The DoT duration has been increased from 8 seconds to 30 seconds.
- The chance of applying DoT when attacking has been increased from 50% to 100%.
- The damage has been increased from 310% to 750%.
- The number of hits has been increased from 1 to 2.
- The attack interval has been decreased by about 22%.
- Fixed an issue where certain skills’ pre-requisite skills were displayed incorrectly.
- The text that displayed the required level of a skill to learn other skills has been removed.
Lotus Flower
- The invincibility duration after resurrecting has been increased from 3.5 seconds to 4.5 seconds.
- If the lotus flower disappears without you receiving the lotus flower’s blessing, the cooldown will now be reset.
- The float duration after resurrecting from the lotus flower has been decreased by about 38%.
- You can now resurrect if the lotus flower is in the same map.
- Fixed an issue where Sol Janus: Dusk would cancel Dark Sight.
- Fixed an issue where Sol Janus could be used in Story Mode boss battle maps.
- Fixed an issue where Ascent skills’ number of uses were not restricted and the regular cooldown was applied in Story Mode boss battle maps.
- Fixed an issue where if you used a skill that consumed HP while Overload Mana was active, Overload Mana would be deactivated if your character’s current HP was lower than the HP consumed by the skill.

Throughout the entire fight, you will see the Adversary’s Will, essentially this boss’ Death Count. It starts at 1000 and goes down by 200 every time you die but it can also be decreased based on the Circulation of Power pattern that happens periodically (with a timer below).
You will also see the Power of Order gauge, which can fluctuate from 0 to 1000. This gauge is extremely important because based on how high or low it is, your final damage will be increased or decreased. In addition, when the Circulation of Power pattern occurs, you will lose Adversary’s Will if your gauge is too low.
- 0-199: -40% final damage and -200 Adversary’s Will if the Circulation of Power pattern occurs.
- 200-399: -20% final damage and -100 Adversary’s Will if the Circulation of Power pattern occurs.
- 400-599: 0% final damage change
- 600-799: +10% final admage
- 800-100: +20% final damage
This ties in with the key mechanic of this boss, the Immortal Will skill which is essentially a parry. You can press the NPC Chat key to nullify the damage of the First Adversary’s attacks for 0.5 seconds (this can be used while using other skills).
If you parry specific attacks, you will acquire Proof of Order and the Immortal Will’s cooldown will be decreased by 4.5 seconds (normally a 6 second cooldown).
Therefore, you must continuously parry specific attacks with specific timing to gain Proof of Order gauge and get increased final damage.

We cleared the First Adversary on Hard Mode! It took us longer to learn this boss than Limbo or Baldrix, and we’re still not very good at phase 3. But it is a pretty fun fight and parrying some of the bigger attacks feels really good. The parry isn’t ping-reliant (or at least I don’t think so), I play at 200+ ping and was able to play without issue, you just need to learn the timings of each attack.
[Boss Clear Event] The Will That Transcends Time
Pass the First Adversary’s trial to prove yourself as the Adversary of a new age, and become the successor of a brilliant legacy!

- Level 101 or higher characters. Or a Zero character that has completed Chapter 2.

Event Reward Claim Period:

You can select the ‘[Boss Clear Event] The Will That Transcends Time’ event in the Event List and click the ‘Participate’ button to start the event.
If any party clears Extreme Mode First Adversary during the event period, all users who have participated in the event will receive commemorative gifts and daily celebration gifts.

※ If you participate in the event in an abormal way, your game or content usage may be restricted and you will be excluded from the event participation and rewards.
Clear Mission
You can receive clear rewards by defeating the First Adversary at least 1 time during the event period. The rewards are different based on the First Adversary mode that you clear, and the clear record is shared between characters within the same world.
Defeating the First Adversary on a higher difficulty will also grant you the rewards given for defeating the lower difficulties.

Special Skill Ring Equip Improvements


The new skill <Ring Exchange> has been added.
- Ring Exchange is a skill that lets you swap your currently equipped special skill ring with a registered spare special skill ring.
- You cannot use the swapped ring’s special skill or Ring Activation for 10 seconds after swapping.
- You can only use Ring Exchange if you have a special skill ring equipped and a ring registered in the spare slot.
※ You can use Ring Exchange from the skill UI’s beginner skill tab.

Friend/Party UI Reorganization



The Friend UI and the Party UI have been separated and updated.
The maximum number of friends in the Friends List has been expanded from 100 to 200.
- The maximum number of friends that can be registered has been increased to 200.
- The friends list expansion feature has been removed, and by default, you can register up to the maximum number.
Character Friends have been removed.
- After the update, previously registered Character Friends will be removed from the list.
- The Add Character Friend feature will be removed, and when you add a friend, it will add all characters within the world for that account.
A Friend Search feature has been added to the Friend UI.
- You can search the Friends list by character name, nickname, or logged in character. Only friends that include the search term will be displayed.
A Friend Request List has been added to the Friend UI.
- A list where you can check up to 100 received friend requests has been added. From this list, you can review and accept or decline friend request you have received.
- A list where you can check up to 100 sent friend requests has been added. From this list, you can review the friend requests you have sent and cancel any that haven’t been accepted yet.
The ‘Away’ status has been added.
- If there is no mouse or keyboard input for over 30 minutes, or you are in the Cash Shop or Auction House, you will be displayed as ‘Away’ in other players’ Friend UI or Party UI.

AI-Generated Lie Detector Application


The macro detection system <AI Generated Lie Detector> will be applied to the profession gathering farms.
- The <AI-Generated Lie Detector> is a lie detection system that presents one of three types of questions: true or false quiz, multiple choice, and problem solving.
- 3 questions are presented, and you must enter the correct answers to all questions within a 120 second time limit.
- If you fail repeatedly, your game usage may be restricted due to repeated lie detector detection according to the operating policy.

When you enter a hunting ground with monsters within your level range, the ‘Sosori’s Stroll Preparation’ skill will be automatically activated. As you defeat monsters within your level range, you will fill up the gauge.
When you defeat 250 monsters within your level range, the gauge will be filled and ‘Sosori’s Stroll’ will be activated. You will acquire experience then Sosori will spin their umbrella and attack nearby enemies.
※ If you use all 30 activations per day per character, the skill will be deactivated.

※ Weekly bosses defeated/Symbol daily quests/Monster Park and Monster Park Extreme cleared before participating in the Frontier Pass event will not be reflected in the Frontier Pass weekly missions.
※ The weekly Frontier Pass point acquisition and weekly mission progress are reset every Thursday at midnight.
You can buy Frontier Pass Points based on the amount of Points you did not acquire from the previous week. It costs 1000 Maple Points per 100 Pass Points.

Challengers World 2nd Early Leap
Event Participation Requirements:
- Level 130 or higher characters created in Challengers, Challengers 2, Challengers 3, or Challengers 4 worlds.
※ Zero characters that are level 130 or higher and have completed story quest Chapter 2 can Early Leap.
Event Period:
- July 17, 2025 after the maintenance ~ August 20, 2025 at 11:59 PM.
During the event period, you can leap your characters to your desired world through the NPC Isaga in Henesys. You can select the ‘Challengers World Early Leap’ event in the Event List and click the ‘Participate’ button to move to Henesys.
※ Worlds You can Leap To: All worlds.
※ You can move a total of 5 characters to other worlds through the Challengers World Early Leap and End Leap.
- Traces of Time, Dense Traces of Time, Challengers Coins, Advanced Challengers Coins, and Premium Coins acquired in Challengers World will not be moved with the World Leap.
- Challengers World Bronze/Silver/Gold/Platinum rewards that can be acquired from Challengers World missions can only be claimed in Challengers World.
- The Mystic Seal event’s equipped Seal Core stats will be removed.
- The Peona’s Herb Basket’s skill levels will be applied based on the world you arrive in.
- If you have not claimed the clear rewards after defeating the First Adversary, you can claim them on the character that cleared after relogging in the world you moved to.
- Characters with active Meso Market transactions cannot proceed with World Leap.
- When World Leaping from Challengers World, items in the cash storage, storage, and Maple Auction will not be moved.
- Custom Backgrounds acquired using Voucher items will not be moved.
※ Custom Backgrounds acquired using Voucher items can be extracted into Vouchers through the NPC Isaga’s ‘Extract Custom Background’ option. The acquired Voucher can only be put into storage and is permanent.
- The Tera Burning effect applied when a character is created in Challengers World will not be transferred through World Leap.
※ The Tera Burning effect will be removed when the character is transferred, and the ‘Tera Burning Gift Giveaway!’ quest will no longer be available.
- The Strange Cube, Karma Meister Cube, Karma Strange Additional Cube, and Karma Star Force 17 Star Enhancement Scroll (Level 160) purchased from the Challengers Shop are Challengers World-only items and you cannot World Leap while holding them.
- The Selective Challengers Level 4 Special Skill Ring Voucher and the Special Skill Ring acquired from using it are Challengers World-only items and you cannot World Leap while holding them.
- If a character that has cleared an Epic Dungeon uses World Leap, you cannot claim the cleared Epic Dungeon’s bonus rewards.
- If there are no empty character slots in the world you are moving to, slots will be added before the Leap.
- However, if you already have 50 characters in the destination world, you cannot Leap to that world.
