kMSt ver. 1.2.393 – New World & DB Nerf?

This patch was so minuscule it didn’t even have patch notes haha. It did however open up the new world Elf, which will come to kMS when Mercedes is released on July 21. Just like the other worlds, getting level 70 will give you the Elf Bandana and getting level 100 will give you the Frontier Earrings.

Also I noticed I missed something in kMSt ver. 1.2.392, I guess I was too excited about Mercedes skills and quests haha. The Dual Blader skill Final Cut now gives only 40% extra damage, instead of the 140% it used to give. EDIT: Apparently this is just changed in the description to fix the error…

It was time for DB’s to get nerfed, I think the thief revamp patch should also neft DB’s because they are too overpowered since chaos, even more than pre-chaos mechanic

They already took out a crap load of damage with this, what do you think they should do, nerf them to the bottom of the DPM charts? Not to mention adventurers just got buffed(mages and bowmen by an incredible amount) Some people need to understand classes belong high in DPM charts and some don’t. It’s part of their gameplay. It’s not like the ones on the bottom are left with nothing superior.

Ex. At the cost of being low at DPM, Battle mages have stance, 2 invincibility moves, every skill mobs 6 or more, drain(great with an ele staff), high hp/mp, etc…

I agree with both of you, but they are still way to over powered with JUST this skill reduced.

On Battle Mages, we’re not as decent for low-tier DPM as you would make us seem.
Point 1: Most melee ranged classes have some sort of stance (Power Stance for all Warriors, Freeze Standing for Arans, Thorns for Dual Blade, Buccaneers have their Energy Shield), the only melee class that doesn’t is Shadowers.
Point 2: Two invincibility moves? Try just one. Using Blue Aura is bad for two reasons. Firstly, it kills if you get 1/1, which a fair amount of endgame bosses do. Secondly, Advanced Dark is what helps us stay on tier with other classes for damage. If we take it off to activate Body Boost (for the invincibility) our damage plummets. So yes, only one invincibility skill.
Point 3: All of Aran skills hit 6 or more monsters, and they deal more damage than us despite being reliant on a 100 combo (which they can now recharge anyways). And it’s not like Dual Blades are horrible at mobbing either, they get fairly amazing mob skills per job. Same applies to Corsairs and Bowmasters and the Mages.
Point 3: Drain is Drain. It’s great but while bossing you’re still going to have to pot. To this day, Drain doesn’t save me much while Pap’ing on my Battle Mage.
Point 4: Valid point. However we do burn through our MP quickly anyways.

I mean seriously, you can try to bullshit your argument with “SOME CLASSES DESERVE THEIR LOLDPM” but what about the other classes? I mean seriously, after Jump! two attacking classes (Battle Mage, Dark Knight) are outclassed by a pure-Support job (Bishops). That makes no sense. And no, don’t try to be all “BISHOPS DESERVE LOLDPM” because we all know half the time Bishops get a sexy rageface.gif when they attack.

(Here’s where I lost my train of thought…. boo)

          1. Don’t know about you but my battle mage has stance
          2. Why do you need so bad an invincibility move? I think the only classes with I-frames are bucc and shadower.
          3. Battle mages also have pretty good mobing skills like dark chain which you can pull lot of monsters in front of you and finishing blow do lot of dmg and is fast, also, as an aran, I know they got too OP on chaos patch but BaMs still do a lot of dmg on bosses like Zakum.
4(you said point 3 2times). I have a lvl 126 BaM and I know drain is not so awesome for BaMs as it is for Arans, but well you still use less hp potions that any other classes.
          5. You can’t complain about this one, any class burns their MP quickly.

BaMs are not bossers, so if you made one you should have known that they were made to mob and not to boss.
I know they over powered Mages and Bowmen on Jump! patch but just play your class for fun and be happy with your dmg because Nexon already announced that it is going to be a Thief and Pirate revamp patch so they will get overpowered and BaMs will be more underpowered.

(NOTE: I do have a Battle Mage, level 124)
            1. I was pointing out that most melee-ranged classes have a Stance anyways, making it almost necessary for a melee class. Yes we have Stance, no it is not that special.

            2. The person who posted earlier seemed to make our “two” invincibility moves sound so amazing.

            3. Pointing out that a bunch of classes are good at mobbing as well and deal better damage anyways.

            4. (Whoops). I was pointing out that Drain is only amazing while training. Even Paladins have to use potions while bossing and they have an amazing HP-recovery skill.

            5. Yes…. I do believe I can. Battle Mages have got to be one of the fastest MP-draining classes in the game (aside from a BM holding down Hurricane I guess).

Battle Mages are bossers. Though, unlike Night Lords or Corsairs that are invited for their damage, Battle Mages are invited because they are pseudo-support. I can tell you how many times I’ve gotten to hop on boss runs as a random just because I have ADA.

Overall, I really can’t tell who’s side you’re on 852963. I was arguing against RandomGuy who seemed to think that Battle Mages deserved their low-DPM because of “we have a lot of stuff.”

Feels like Thief revamp may happen immediately after Legend. It only makes sense, as the last Legend update is in August, and chances are high that Nexon will start on whatever the big Winter update is supposed to be by November. Leaving September and October for the Thief and Pirate revamps.

The Winter update will most likly be the pirate and theif heros, wich leads me to belive, whats next and how long till maple ends because if that happens we all know whats coming next………………Yep thats right the black mage, and theres no other boss that could be stronger then cygnus and weaker then the black mage that would be such a major part of the story line like cygnus is,unless its grendal, but if that happens we all knew it was coming.

I’m not sure if you translated wrong, but final cut never gave 140% DMG, at max level, in the skill description, it says “Damage 145% for 40 seconds”. 40%DMG is only a 5% nerf from 145%DMG.

It was just a description change so calm down, and Bowmasters gor incredibly OP with the advanced final att and the extra dmg from the fenix summon.
And mages are not as overpowered as DB’s are.

Mist Explosion makes for an incredibly powerful skill if you have half a brain to manage your DoT skills, which seeing as just about every Fire/Poison Mage skill has a DoT, I would say that’s hardly a problem.

I noticed that we get AP Reset scrolls in the future. Let’s say I added 100 points into hp, but never washed those points back into Primary stat. And then I use an AP reset scroll. Will I get back those 100 APs back? What will happen to my 100 APS that I added to my HP, but never washed back into primary?

    • Max
      July 17, 2011 at 12:04 pm

It will not be reset since the AP Reset from the Shop of Legend resets AP in everything except HP/MP.

So the only way I can get those AP points back into primary stat will be to buy ap resets even after using an AP Reset Scroll from the “Shop of Legend”?

Instead of cutting a Dual Blade’s damage in an attempt to put them on par with other classes, they ought to increase their drawbacks. Highest offense should yield lowest defense/highest cost; as highest defense should yield lowest offense. Increase/throw in more HP costs and increase MP costs so Dual Blades can still run the same damage, just more costly and less appealing to those who want an easy KS’ing class. Nerfing damage is not always the best option. Gotta think outside the box.

On a side note: Bringing out the last of the Legends to finish the set and revamping Thieves and Pirates won’t leave much left to do except do something crazy. Releasing the Black Mage as a boss? Perhaps, but since Cygnus is level 190, and the Black Mage is going to have to be many times stronger than her and her pawns (since he defeats and traps them all), either there would be another level and damage nerf for monsters, the Black Mage would just suck, or level cap could be increased (which I believe to be unlikely). Increased level cap for monsters -> increased level cap for players due to accuracy system -> perfect opportunity for either another Big Bang with new skills added (unlikely in the case of) to fill the void of new levels or a 5th Job Advancement. Either way, Nexon is beginning to exhaust their options for progressing updates, and it’s not like the olden days when they can just throw in a few completely unrelated quests/areas and call it good for a few months. Anywho, this is all just how my gears are turning on the matter.

I agree with the person above me, they eventually run out of ideas. I doubt the game would close down, but there wont be anything left to update (class wise) but they could compromise many things. They could release a villain class working for the black wings (or an entire group of them, like resistance) or the rebirth system. Maybe new “factions” if your a villain and you see a hero you get a chance to go into the battle arena and challenge them 1v1. Of course it would take lots of work but theres always room for improvement.
