kMSt ver. 1.2.473 – Boss, Party Quest, Mercedes and Phantom Changes, Soul Weapons!
Finally, a week before the update, a patch has been released to Tespia! However, if this is all for the ‘season 1 job balancing’, I’m really disappointed, haha. They also added some boss stuff, changed party quests, experience, and even gave us a new system for weapons!
Well it’s not really new, adapted from JMS’ Spirit Weapon system, but people are speculating a new ‘underworld’ area. The NPC above is in charge of it, and some of his dialogue has to do with Eregoth. What could it mean?
A new Easy Mode has been added for Van Leon. The boss will be easier to fight than in Normal Mode and you can only receive Normal Mode rewards at a low chance. Easy and Normal Modes will share the daily entry, so if you enter one, you cannot enter the other.
Hilla‘s HP, her damage, and her summoned monsters’ HP have been reduced, and her skill characteristics have been adjusted.
They finally added the quests that you must do in order to change the Cursed Kaiserium into the Liberated Kaiserium. This includes collecting 150 Cursed Horn’s Auras from either Normal or Hard Mode Magnus. Note: he only drops a maximum of 2…
The Cursed Kaiserium, as shown above, gives 50 to all stats and 250 attack with no slots, it is untradeable upon equipping. The Liberated Kaiserium gives 200 to all stats and 400 attack! It has 1 slot, so I assume it can have potential as well. However, it is completely untradeable.
Now, if the difference between party member levels is too large, the party will not gain experience. This only applies if the difference between the highest and lowest is 41 levels or more.
Monster Carnival has been reopened! Players level 110 to 130 can participate by accepting the Monster Carnival Invitation quest. This will sign you up to join a game as soon as 6 players join, while you can do other things.
You can trade in the Shiny Maple Coins you collect inside for “new” items. New because they’re just the old items with better stats, haha.
Spiegelmann’s Strong Cape: 3 to all stats (level 120, untradeable)
Spiegelmann’s Strong Bowtie: 10 to all stats, 1 attack and magic attack (level 120, untradeable)
Spiegelmann’s Strong Mustache: 2 to all stats, 2 attack and magic attack, (level 120, untradeable)
They have merged the entrance of all party quests into one. Some party quests’ recommended levels have been changed. Note, this does not mean you cannot do these party quests if you are too high, they will just not scale past their maximum level.

Finally, new rewards were added to certain party quests. These aren’t really new, just the old ones with better stats.
- Ice Knight’s Shoulderpad: 4 to all stats, 1 attack and magic attack (level 95, untradeable)
- Ice Knight’s Seeker Chain Snowshoes: 4 to all stats, 5 speed, 2 jump, 1 attack and magic attack, 5 PVP damage (level 95, untradeable)
- Common Davy Jones Hat: 6 to all stats, 7 speed, 5 jump, 90 HP and MP (level 100, untradeable)
- Worn Davy Jones Hat: 9 to all stats, 1 attack and magic attack, 8 speed, 5 jump, 150 HP and MP (level 100, untradeable)
- Greedy Davy Jones Hat: 15 to all stats, 3 attack and magic attack, 10 speed, 5 jump, 250 HP and MP (level 125, untradeable)
- Brilliant Altair Earrings: 7 to all stats, 7 speed, 250 MP (level 100, can be traded with the Scissors of Karma)
- Kenta’s Goggles: 6 to all stats, 7 speed, 100 HP and MP (level 125, untradeable)
Mercedes and Phantom can now be created once more. Their Hyper Skills were reset and they received some skill changes.
Mercedes
Strike Dualshot (3rd): now does 20% increased damage on stunned monsters
High Kick Demolition (3rd): after used, you will now be in the air
Ishtar’s Ring (4th): damage has been increased from 110% to 130%, range has been increased
Defense Break (4th): no longer gives a chance to ignore 100% of a monster’s defense, now permanently ignores 25% of a monster’s defense and 25% of their elemental resistances
Advanced Final Attack (4th): damage of first arrow has been increased from 105% to 120%, damage of second arrow has been increased from 70% to 80%
NEW: Ishtar’s Ring – Ignore Guard (Hyper): Ishtar’s Ring’s amount of monster defense ignored is increased by 20%.
NEW: Ishtar’s Ring – Boss Killer (Hyper): Ishtar’s Ring’s damage to bosses is increased by 20%.
- REMOVED: Ishtar’s Ring – Add Range (Hyper)
- REMOVED: Ishtar’s Ring – Linked Reinforce (Hyper)
Phantom
NEW SKILL: Judgement AUTO/MANUAL (beginner): Judgement’s buff skill will be set to automatically activate. Toggle on/off.
Judgement (2nd/4th): Guardian Card effect has been removed
Call of Fate (2nd): number of monsters hit has been increased from 3 to 4
Ultimate Drive (4th): damage has been increased from 120% to 130%
Twilight (4th): range has been increased
NEW: Ultimate Drive – Ignore Guard (Hyper): Ultimate Drive’s amount of monster defense ignored is increased by 20%.
Rose Carte Finale (Hyper): additional damage is now done continuously over 12 seconds instead of as one explosion, damage has been decreased from 700% to 100%, number of hits has been decreased from 4 to 2
Final Judgement (Hyper): defense increase effect has been removed
- REMOVED: Ultimate Drive – Fast Movement (Hyper)
Monster Park has been reorganized! This includes both the gate and area levels! 5 new areas have been added as well, I’ve marked them in red along with a picture (thanks to 돈 of Insoya.com) in the list of the Monster Park parks below. There’s actually 6 new ones but one is only planned, it hasn’t actually been added yet.

Weapons that can absorb monsters’ souls have been added, new Soul Weapons! Using a Soul Enchanter on a weapon will turn it into a Soul Weapon. Soul Enchanters can only be used on level 75 or higher weapons. You must then hunt 10 Soul Fragments from monsters to combine into a certain boss monster’s soul to use on your Soul Weapon.
Soul Weapons use a boss monster’s soul to give you potential stats as well as a special skill (depending on which boss you have). While hunting monsters, you have to collect enough Souls to activate this skill by press ↓↓↑↑ attack or by clicking the icon.
Note: there are different types of Souls for each boss. These types will each give different potential stats but they all give you access to the same skill for that boss. I’m not gonna list all the potential stats (there’s so many) so I’ll just point out which bosses have special types, remember though that a single Soul will only give ONE of the stats listed.

Kitty Law: Use the power of the Soul Weapon to summon Van Leon, dealing 5000% damage on one enemy with an extra 30% critical chance. There is a cooldown of 300 seconds.
Hellfire Trim: Use the power of the Soul Weapon to summon the Devil Balrog, dealing 2000% damage on up to 15 enemies on your screen with an extra 20% critical chance. There is a cooldown of 300 seconds.
Don’t Block My Way: Use the power of the Soul Weapon to summon Rex who will run into enemies in front of you, dealing 1500% damage on up to 15 enemies while ignoring 100% of their defense. There is a cooldown of 300 seconds.
Palm Fireball: Use the power of the Soul Weapon to summon Dragon Rider, who shoots a beam at up to 15 enemies in front of you, dealing 1500% damage with an extra 40% critical chance, monsters hit will take an extra 300% damage every 2 seconds for 10 seconds. There is a cooldown of 300 seconds.
Rock and Roll Baby: Use the power of the Soul Weapon to summon Rock Spirit for 120 seconds. He will deal 500% damage to monsters around you. There is a cooldown of 300 seconds.
Scary Cuteness: Use the power of the Soul Weapon to summon Pink Bean for 120 seconds. He will deal 1000% damage to monsters around you. There is a cooldown of 300 seconds.
Rejuvenation: Use the power of the Soul Weapon to summon Mu Gong and return yourself to the pinnacle of your strength, increasing your total damagae by 100% for 30 seconds. There is a cooldown of 300 seconds.
Options have been added to choose between regular or ‘simple’ item tooltips. I wasn’t able to check but I think it will only show potential stats? I know for sure it removed regular stats, haha.
The new widescreen resolution, 1366×768 is now available! If your graphics card does not support it, you will not see it as an option.
A new message system has been added (not really new, but I don’t think other versions had this item before). Like the Cash item, you can now send messages to those offline, which they will receive when they log on.
Press the button to the left of the character info button on the icon bar to write one. You must pay 10,000 mesos and you can’t send more than 3 per minute or 20 per day.

I like it, Phantoms and Mercedes didnt deserve the buff to begin with.
But i cant help but feel Merc got screwed with the defence break changes… Is it me or does it now seem crapper?
Used to be 100% defense ignored at a 40% rate
Now its 25% defense ignored at a 100% rate.
I may be looking at it wrong but, it’s definitely a Nerf.
Phantom also kinda had his hyper skill ruined so not exactly buffs for the weaker (although still pretty strong) heroes.
Theoretically the change to Defense Break is actually a buff:
Defense Break used to give 40% PDR and Spikes Royale gave 20% PDR
But half the time you are already piercing the full defense rate so Spikes Royale’s only theoretically helps 60% of the time.
which means it only effectively grants 12% additional PDR, which sums up to 52% PDR
The new Defense Break gives 25% PDR which fully stacks with Ishtar’s new hyper and Spikes Royale, so it is actually 65% PDR.
And this is not even considering that % ignore stacks better with the new Defense Break, and how the 25% ele ignore works with your normal skills on bosses like Pink Bean.
So yeh, it is a buff.
And to add on, I forgot the additional 20% from Spikes Royale hyper skill. Which actually means 64% total PDR for old Defense Break, and 85% for new Defense Break, which grants a even larger gap in effectiveness.With a simple 15% ignore def, you easily reach 100%

True, but not all explorers need a revamp, from my playing experience, Dark Knights and Bowmasters need a revamp the most. But let’s just say bowmasters, because Nexon will give +10% to impale and call it a revamp ._.
Bowmasters are still stronger than mercedes. Idk about dks.
The last bowman rebalance gave bowmasters like 5 different things and only gave marksman 10% more damage on ultimate strafe. They even nerfed some of our shared skills with bowmaster so that they’re better for bowmasters rather than marksman. No one has experience with marksman because we suck so much no one wants to even try our class out.

Unlimited changed how defense ignore works, I’m not sure what exactly these changes were but I think it’s multiplicative now (i.e. you can’t reach 100% defense ignore unless you’re a Viper now, since they’re the only job that has a skill that lets them ignore that much).

Still doesn’t seem like that much of a buff. Phantom still sucks beyond the ends of time with the nerfs he got beforehand. Still feel that Mercedes should have gotten some sort of a Snipe skill like other Archers too.
The only actual buff we got as phantoms for end game, 10% increase to Ult drive and 20% ignore.
Everything else is a nerd that was so extremely un-needed.
The only archer with a snipe skill is marksman. Period. They’re giving our snipe to classes like Jett and Corsair and it is freaking annoying. Why should everyone have Marksman skills? Basically, you are saying everyone should have what we have and more and do more damage with it and we should just be crap..

I don’t get why Phantoms are getting hit so hard. We are far from able to keep up with most classes because we have crap hp, crap defense, AND only moderate attack.
It’s starting to feel like nexon has it out for Phantoms.

I think the removal of def was actually good……. cuz defense doesnt really do anything to the new bosses and normal monsters usually misses us. The new bosses does percent of your HP damage and doesnt depend on defense
Also removing the defense would increase the chance of getting a % crit card or that hp drain card

Its not that hard to get crit. At lvl 198 you have 55%crit plus 20 from judgment+20 hyper+decent SE or SE 100% crit.
I hope nexon buff aria in the future.. I want my 30% dmg back T.T and the duration of stolen buffs like pre nerf :<.

Phantoms needed their avoid, defense, and hp/mp cut. They were way too over powered to begin with. Anything you need you could just steal anyhow. Everyone looks at the class and assumes it is weak without adding in all of the awesome buffs they can steal. Personally, I would’ve cut your avoid and left everything else but the skills you steal. I would nerf that to level 10 or 15 then let you use them a little more freely. Like letting Hyperbody, magic guard, and meso guard stack(they’re all in different jobs so why not?). Possibly even use 2 buffs and an active from each job. That’s my idea of a balance. Not completely over-powered but hella useful.

Phantom can only use 1 defense buff, regardless of job. Hyperbody is not a defense skill, you don’t get damage less on hp if using it.

Dude. Us phantoms have shit range already. I’m level 156 and i only have a 56k range. If I put on all those defence buffs then my range would drop 10k. Do you think I’m stupid to drop 10k just because nexon hates us phantoms. We are so weak and require MAJOR funding to hit any high damage. We need a insane buff. My friends the same level as me and plays a dark knight. His range is 90k and he isn’t really that funded. Just give us our defence back nexon. Our avoid should not be touched. We are thieves. We should have high avoid.

Most likely yes. We always get what KMS gets. Unless GMS is scared that Hackers might take over the system again then they might not add it. It is all based off NA Nexon’s thought.
Except we have NEVER gotten the website login events. In fact, the only reason we have some of those things in GMS that were available in website login event and similar events (such as the ultimate circulator) is because they were put in the marvel machine, which means that it would most likely be a marvel machine item
Sigh… Not sure what to say about Phantoms. I am proud I stopped my Phantom than continued it… We got screwed over even more.
BTW Max, does the soul weapons make your equip untradable?
And forgot to ask about the Potential and Skill part. Is it possible to get both of them or you can only get one of them?

I am very disappointed because I thought it’s supposed to rebalance the classes, not nerf them. I mean, explorers just suck. I thought they’re going to get a revamped.. By the looks of this, I am not so sure anymore.

I mainly play Adventurers and my Phantom but I have adventurers that can out damage my Phantom. And now Phantoms are getting screwed over even more!
What’s wrong with an adventurer out-damaging a phantom? You know it has gone too far when people act as if that is a bad thing. “Hark! A damage class out-damaging a buff stealing class that can support!!” You know what? Give me Speed infusion, combat orders, hyper body, and the ability to heal myself and I won’t ask Nexon for any more attack. I don’t see how Marksman and Bowmasters are boss classes when we get screwed over in every field. Even our actual pixel range was reduced in big bang. We are a mid-ranged class! wth?

To clarify, it still does the same initial damage. But now the cards on the ground won’t explode after 2 seconds, they’ll stay there for a while and deal continuous damage to monsters around it.

Hmm the revamp dosent seem much, I would prefer if they could change and remove the cooldown of Phantom’s Impeccable memory to function like Xenon’s Mode System so they could change their skills easily. Mercedes Defence Break changes looks nice, hope Viper’s Typhoon Crash received the same treatment 🙂

All the boss Spirits are acquired by collecting Soul Pieces from monsters and combining 10 of them into a full boss soul. I don’t know if its going to be like this in the real server though.

What kind of idiot thinks that maple is more accommodating to higher levels? A few months ago, there was 3 revamps to every new cchar, 3 new chars to every new piece of low leveled content, and 5 new low leveled content for every high level content. The only high level content we’ve gotten in the past few years are Ruined Henesys, Knight’s stronghold, Dimension Invade, and like 10 new raids, while there’s been like 50
theme dungeons for people below 120. Not only that, but until Twilight of Perion was released, there was literally NOTHING that a level 200 person could do that a 180 person couldn’t all those “better games” you speak of? they had SPECIAL content (such as raids and pqs) EXCLUSIVELY for people who hit the level cap. Who cares about getting to 200 if all you get is a few active buffs, a medal and (sometimes) a mount? I want a raid for people who are level 250. Also, nexon made a fail move. We wanted new high leveled content, but we didn’t want a level cap raise. Especially since they raised the cap for the sake of adding higher level content. At LEAST make some content for people at the current cap (basically only level 200+) OR get gear sets up to 200 before raising the cap. Seriously, other games normally have gear sets up to the level cap AS SOON AS ITS RAISED. And the only reason they raise the cap is because they’ve already made a raid with a level requirement of the current cap, so making a stronger boss without raising it would be stupid. Also, they can’t even FINISH a race of classes before making another one? look, they started on the resistance before getting done with even HALF of the heroes, and started on the Chief Knights, and announced the novas before releasing the last one. And then they finished the resistance, but they STILL are FOUR short of the Chief Knights (hopefully this CK revamp will mean the release of the other ones, and each chief knight will have the skills (albeit more powerful) of the pre revamp CKs so people can still play “classic” WAs and BWs in the form of Irena and Oz, so people can stop QQing about those CKs losing what made those people wish they were full classes in the process of becoming full classes (I mean people who wished they made full classes out of WAs mainly did so because of Albatross making them transform and such, because it made them one of the few “unique” classes)
They should return phantoms to the way they were before nerf and return mercedes’ AFA back as well.

you do realize the ignore element resistance isn’t as bad as you make it out to be… bosses like hilla and pink bean make your damage reduced by 50%, but if you have elemental resistance ignore, then you will bypass that 50% reduction. it’s not 100% ignore element resistance, so you will still have a bit of reduced damage, but not as much as 50%.
and i think they changed high kick demolition to make it like the moonsault attack, so you can follow up with another attack right after.
Theoretically the change to Defense Break is actually a buff:
Defense Break used to give 40% PDR and Spikes Royale gave 20% PDR
But half the time you are already piercing the full defense rate so Spikes Royale’s only theoretically helps 60% of the time.
which means it only effectively grants 12% additional PDR, which sums up to 52% PDR
The new Defense Break gives 25% PDR which fully stacks with Ishtar’s new hyper and Spikes Royale, so it is actually 65% PDR.
And this is not even considering that % ignore stacks better with the new Defense Break, and how the 25% ele ignore works with your normal skills on bosses like Pink Bean.
And you are even assuming you ever use Stunning Strikes anyway. At the only time you need to use a mobbing skills, you are better off using Double Leaf Tornado or Moonsault anyway. The 20% additional damage makes your 3rd job easier at least. In exchange of 30% damage on Stunning Strikes which you will never ever use, you get 20% boss damage on your bossing skill, which is way more useful that the 30% damage on Stunning Strikes.

And to add on, I forgot the additional 20% from Spikes Royale hyper skill. Which actually means 64% total PDR for old Defense Break, and 85% for new Defense Break, which grants a even larger gap in effectiveness.With a simple 15% ignore def potential which is not even that hard to get, you easily reach 100%

For argument sake let’s just assume a situation against where AFA and Ishtar rings averages out to 100k per hit on a 0% def monster.
Against a 40% monster like Zak:
With 40% def you will hit 100k 4/10 the time and 76k 6/10 of the time. Which means in 100 hits of Ishtar you will be dealing a average of (4/10) x 100k + (6/10) x 76k = 85.6k per hit
Whereas accounting in the new hyper skill on Ishtar plus the 25% PDR on Defense Break, you have 85% PDR on Ishtar hits, and 65% PDR on AFA hits. 10/17 of the time you hit with 85% PDR, and 7/17 of the time you hit with 65% PDR. Which is essentially 96k 10/17 the time and 86k 7/10 the time. So in this case you deal an average of 91.8k per hit.
Against higher difficulty bosses like Pink Bean, the difference becomes even more apparent because ‘Weapon Attack’ is considered as a element.

The last time I used Stunning Strikes was like level 70 I think because MSEA’s LHC did not have party bonus. Leaf is just that much better else where due to its AoE and 3 more targets. While they removed the 30% damage to stunning strikes from the hyper skill, you won’t be getting it until level 185 anyway. And by then, you will either be in Monster Park, where I rather use Ishtar, or bossing, where Leaf is way more useful than Stunning Strikes because it is AoE rather than being unidirectional.
yea leaf is more useful, if you want to burn out your hp pots. I HIGHLY doubt you have a Mercedes. First of all the 30% damage boost doesnt come at lv 185. Stunning strikes is not an aoe? lmao if you think that leaf tornado is a viable long term mobbing skill for training then you are mental.
stunning strikes hits up to 5 enemies 4 times for a total of 175% damage per line, it activates faster then leaf tornado and it gives you distance away from the mobs, how do you even see leaf as a training skill? only thing good about leaf is comboing it after using rising rush and moonsault to get in that extra damage. after that, its all about stunning strikes.

Why are people complaining for mercedes? At least like all of their skills got buffed, unlike phantom which lost a bunch of their percents, such as rose carte being completely crap now. Mercedes get +20% damage on Ishtar Ring and increased range, so it already gains back the hypers that used to benefit Ishtar Ring before they deleted it, PLUS they get 20% boss and 20% pdr with ishtar. Advanced Final Attack damage is also boosted, meaning more dps for mercedes. Phantoms do not get much decent out of this at all, I honestly feel bad for phantoms because they never ever got buffed besides hypers, it was release > nerf > hypers > nerf pretty much for them. I wouldn’t complain for your merc, you should be glad for the changes.

How about they nerf everyone down back to where adventurers are? Why does a rebalance have to be about giving the weak guy power? I’m tired of seeing ridiculous numbers and personally I think it is stupid that my snipe hits 6 times. How the heck is that a snipe? Problem: if they made my snipe hit once in high levels everyone would be 50x stronger than me instead of 10. So just nerf everyone and we can go back to an old maple playing style. Leveling was fun and had meaning to it and people weren’t butt munches to each other and the community was strong. Let the instant gratification fools go back to WoW or whatever and let the nice patient people come back.

It’s not really a nerf for Phantoms. Rose Carte Finale doesn’t explode for a single 50,000,000, but rather it stays on the field doing 50,000,000 dmg CONTINUOUSLY for more than 12 seconds! It’s better because you’ll do more dmg. WOW, I am impressed.

But you’re also forgetting that the damage was lowered by 600% meaning that instead of the initial 50,000,000 dmg hit you would hit 7,142,857 dmg 12 times which is 85,714,285 dmg. But that also requires the monster to stay on the cards that drop; but sadly the cards have a decently small range….
There are two ways i see it.
Rose got weaker so you would do less damage but because of the DoT, it might actually do much more than you think so it is great on bosses.
The DoT is useless against regular monsters that doesnt have a lot of HP to begin with so since most people can kill it with a few hits. By weakening the skill, it wont be a guarantee kill like it was before.
Also its so slow now that is pretty much useless against high lvl regular monsters

If you ever tried Pink Bean, Empress or even Hilla, you will know that. As proof, you cant deal more than half your normal damage even if you have defense break. But a mage can easily deal their full damage because of their elemental decrease skill.
The 30% damage boost DOES come only at 183 because that’s when you get that hyper skill.
“Ishtar’s Ring – Linked Reinforce: Strike Dualshot’s damage is increased by 30%. [required level: 183]”
They did not remove the passive aspect of Ishtar Ring that gives 25% damage boost to stunning strikes, so there is no nerf to its damage until lv 183. And it is 115% per line, 121% with level 1 Ishtar, 140% with max Ishtar, and 170% with the hyper skill at 183. Leaf Tornado hits 8 monster 4 lines, 135% a line, 146% with level 1 Spikes Royale, 165% with max Spikes Royale, 195% with the hyper skill at 195. And considering that you do 2 leaf tornadoes in 1 jump, it’s not that much slower than stunning strikes, and the damage makes up for it until you get the hyper skill at lv 185.

There isn’t even the need for the “after that” part, because the first half of the combo is enough to kill what you have to.
LHC got revamped to the weak version before Mercedes. Lv 70 – 120 is easily passed by using Aerial Barrage at DGP & Mp3. Lv 120+ in PQ, where Leaf Tornado is better than Stunning Strikes in DR & Kenta, and Ishtar is more useful in Escape and Rex. Low level monster park is bad until they reduced the hp during justice.
And after lv 14x when you start zak solo, it is better to use leaf because it hits more parts. Stunning strikes is only more useful than leaf tornado when you start going to MPSH but I still rather just use Ishtar then. And leaf tornado’s AoE is also way more useful as a mobbing skill against bosses like CZak and CHT.
So now, where do you even use Stunning Strikes?
