MapleStory 2 – Final Test Applications & kMSt ver. 1.2.008 – Dynamic Hunting Changes!
The Final Test applications for MapleStory 2 have finally been opened! They released a teaser video where you can actually see the new classes: Berserker, Heavy Gunner, and Thief. If you guys have a verified Nexon Korea account, you can apply here by pressing the big blue hexagon! I can’t make a guide as I have already been a tester before so I don’t even see any popup, but if you guys need help, you can post in the comments and I’ll try and help you out 🙂
In addition, a new Test World patch has been released! This one includes the 12th Anniversary as well as a ton of changes to hunting and party questing~ I won’t be covering the events until it hits the actual server, but the other changes are very cool.
The Maple Guide has been updated! It now begins at level 10 and goes beyond level 140. You can now teleport to recommended content which you have over levelled, but only if you are within 10 levels of the recommended ending level of that content.
Bosses will no longer be shown on the Maple Guide. Many party quests have been added.
- Romeo and Juliet
- Dimensional Crack
- Pirate Davy Jones
- Kenta in Danger
- Dimension Invade
- Resurrection of the Hob King
Many fields and theme dungeons have been added.
- Ice Fields
- Alcadno Laboratory
- Zenumist Laboratory
- Toy Factory Machinery Room
- Green Past
- Frozen Past
- Fiery Past
- Disappeared Forest

- Deepening Tragic Forest
- Never-ending Tragic Forest
- Twilight Perion
- Abandoned Excavation Site
- Haven
The Maple Contents Map has been added! With this system, you can easily see the progression of MapleStory’s content in a clean layout. The Content Map is an expansion of the Maple Guide system, and you can open it by pressing the + button. It is available for users level 30 and higher.
Like the Maple Guide, you can read detailed information and move directly to places on the Contents Map. The Contents Map shows all information from the Maple Guide and in addition, will show bosses which you can do.
For theme dungeons, when you complete the last quest, you’ll receive a stamp on the content. For hunting fields which do not have quests, you’ll get a stamp when you kill a certain number of monsters.
Here’s the complete Maple Contents Map.
And here are all the recommended contents (thanks to Insoya for the pictures!).
Party quests have been reorganized! Now, you can play them up to 5 times per day instead of 10. The compensation of some party quests have been adjusted accordingly.
- Dimensional Crack
- Tang Yoon’s Cooking Class
- Romeo and Juliet
- Pirate Davy Jones
- Dragon Rider
- Escape
- Kenta in Danger
- Resurrection of the Hob King
- Dimension Invade
- Chryse
Some party quests’ entry levels and recommended levels have been changed.
- Dimensional Crack: level 110 ~ level 139

The requirements for reward items in some party quests have also been changed.

The experience reward for some party quests have been increased.
- Romeo and Juliet
- Pirate Davy Jones
- Escape
Dimension Invade’s bonus stage will now be chosen randomly instead of based on your clear time.
Nett’s Pyramid can now be accessed through Spiegelmann’s Guest House like other party quests.
Party quests are now started inside their specific waiting maps once more. This is so annoying, now you’ll have people split between the Guest House and all the different PQ maps! I thought that’s why they removed that!
Party quest entrance paths have been added in regular hunting maps which users can use to move to the party quest waiting area.
- Tang Yoon’s Cooking Class: Nautilus Restaurant (NPC Tang Yoon)
- Romeo and Juliet: Zenumist Society, Alcadno Society
- Dimensional Crack: Eos Tower 100th Floor
- Pirate Davy Jones: Red Nose Pirate’s Den 1
- Escape: First Tower (NPC Jen)
- Resurrection of the Hob King: Elder’s Residence
- Kenta in Danger: Dangerous Sea Gorge 1
Resurrection of the Hob King has been reorganized.
- New obstacles have been added and monsters’ difficulties have been adjusted to create more interactive gameplay.
- Based on Shamos’ remaining HP, you’ll gain extra compensation.
Kenta in Danger has been reorganized.
- New missions have been added, which if completed will reduce the amount of time required to escort Kenta.
- Based on Kenta’s remaining HP, you’ll gain extra compensation.
Mu Lung Dojo has been reorganized!
- When you defeat a boss inside Mu Lung Dojo, the timer will pause for 10 seconds. The timer will resume in 10 seconds or when you move to the next floor.
- Mu Lung Dojo’s ranking mode has been reorganized.
- Shelter rooms have been removed. You now go through 40 floors of bosses consecutively.
- Rankings will now reset every week instead of every day.
- Rankings will begin to reset on Sunday at 11PM. Due to this, ranking mode will be unavailable from 11PM-12AM on Sundays.
(Sorry to people who I incorrectly told rankings reset every week already, but they did add the change now haha.)
Dynamic Field Battling
The Sudden Mission system has been added.
- Sometimes, you will receive Sudden Missions which will appear below the quest UI.
- You cannot abandon Sudden Missions, if you cannot complete them within the time limit of 30 minutes, they will automatically be removed.
- If you complete a Sudden Mission, you’ll get special rewards based on the difficulty of the mission and your character level.
- Sudden Missions are given to characters level 33 or higher.
- Up to 3 Sudden Missions can be completed per day.
Currently, I’ve seen Sudden Missions like ‘get XXX Combo Kills’ or ‘get XXX Multi Kills’. When you complete them, you’ll have only 60 seconds to claim the rewards. You’ll get some experience and maybe some items (I’ve seen people get Fensalir equipment so it’s probably not that great).
The Burning Field system has been added.
- Hunting maps which have not been touched by adventurers for a long period of time will become Burning Fields, where you can gain extra experience.
- The longer a map is untouched, it will become a higher stage Burning Field (up to a maximum of stage 5), and more experience will be given in higher stages.
- When you enter a Burning Field, the effect will gradually go back down to a regular hunting map.
- Burning Fields will only appear in maps with monsters level 100 or higher, and will not apply to party quests, boss content and certain other maps.
When you enter a Burning Field, the notice above will pop up on your screen. I didn’t stay long enough to see how it decays though.
At a stage 5 Burning Field, you’ll receive 50% bonus experience from monsters. I guess the other stages are similarly 10%/20%/30%/40% bonus experience.
Four new Runes have been added.
- Rune of Thunder: Powerful lightning will fall from the sky at random intervals, instantly killing all monsters hit.
- Rune of Earth: Turn into an unstoppable giant for a short period of time. While in the giant state, monsters that touch your body will take damage and jumping on monsters will instantly kill them.
- Rune of Darkness: Immediately summon an Elite Monster to the field.
- Rune of Treasure: Immediately summon a Treasure Mimic.
The Combo Kill system has been changed.
- Existing Combo Kill bonuses have been removed. (bonus experience from monsters based on your current Combo)
- Every 50 Combo, an Experience Marble will be created on the map.
- Picking up the Experience Marble will give you experience and increase your movement speed and jump for a short period of time.
- Experience Marbles are upgraded in 3 stages based on your current Combo and will give more experience based on the stage.
The first stage of Marbles (blue) appears starting at 50 Combo, the second (purple) appears starting at 400 Combo, and the last (red) appears starting at 750 Combo.
The level up animation has been updated once again! (thanks to Spadow for the animation)
A notification will now appear at the top of your screen when you pick up an item which is higher than Rare rank.
In addition, HackShield was replaced by XIGNCODE3 in this Test World patch! I know Neople uses this for Dungeon Fighter Online now, but I’m not sure its better…
Unrelated, but have you guys watched Daredevil yet? I binged it during the weekend and it’s so good! I’m really looking forward to A.K.A. Jessica Jones later this year as well.
first and i dont even do this
Resurrection of the Hob King seems to get reorganized now and then! That Level Up animation tho…ehhhhhhhh!
at the end it says “Neople”, did you mean Nexon or people
Neople are the developers of Dungeon Fighter. They are using that anti-hack program in the global release of the game.
Neople is the developer (and now publisher) of Dungeon Fighter Online :p
its a company that picked up dungeon fighter online. its not nexon, but neople has people working for it
They didn’t “pick it up”, they own it.
In the same sense that you own your vehicle. It doesn’t mean you created it or that it wouldn’t exist if you didn’t buy it. Therefore, “picked it up” works as they did gain ownership through other means than creation.
oh lol derp ;P
thanks guys 😀
A few question max. Do you actually find the level up guide useful? After you reach 750 combos do the orb drops every 50,400, and 750 again? and do you play dfo ? 😛 And I’ve started watching daredevil. It’s pretty good!
Using it to teleport is definitely useful 🙂
The Marbles appear every 50 Combo, but the colour they are depends on your current Combo. (every 50 from 50~350 is blue, 400~700 is red, 750~999 is purple).
I’ve been playing on and off, I get burnt out on it really easily haha.
Ah but you do play! Try the knight class super fun. And that combo thing looks pretty good! GMS has been really boring to me. I know the Black Heaven is out but I would rather be playing LoL/DFO. How is MS2?
MS2 is pretty fun! I didn’t have much time to play last testing phase so I wasn’t that high level so I’m hoping to be able to test out some new stuff this time.
Cool. Hopefully we don’t have to wait more than a year for an english release of it… 😐
I guess… I sincerely hope that this summer’s update is nothing short of fantastic, because that really will be their last chance
they may actually bring out the mythical fifth job advancement. but as we do know it will be in stages so it will probably take up the entire summer maybe even going into November or maybe even longer as they did with hyper skills
I wish I had your optimism..
The content stamp system is pretty cool. Another thing for completionists to finish.
So still nothing on Arans or Evans huh…? Welp I give up. :l
THIS is the “big update” they were talking about?!?! WHERE DA FIFTH JOB AT?!
WHAT!!! Max watches daredevil? 😈
1234
I’m a big Marvel fan 🙂
->leveling guide will try to push even more party quests on you
oh, so I can ignore it even harder for being even more useless? yawn.
->also we keep making those higher and higher level content
just like everything else that people do to get to higher levels in the first place. feels like they’re trying to push people away from making new characters with all the “lol no you don’t have any content!” they keep pulling.
->rearranged combo kill stuff
but they probably still haven’t done anything to make spawn rates agree with it more…
->sudden missions
while not a bad idea, the “only three per day” thing seems self-defeating if they don’t pay exceedingly well.
->unused maps get EXP boost
but there will probably still be maps that nobody plays on because those maps have nothing of note on them…
wow i could not agree more with you this is the so called BIG UPDATE smh this update was nothing but trash
I completed a sudden mission and it gave me 500 mileages
just w0w
I hope you can zoom in on your character in MS2, feels like it’d be easy for you to get lost and be left hitting random buttons if you’re fighting a big boss.
When signing up for the final test application, is there a way I can get past the mobile number? Because obviously, I don’t own a phone with a Korean carrier.
Nope, unless you have an older account which did not require phone verification or an account that has already been verified, you can’t sign up 😦
Aw. Thanks for the reply though. I really appreciate it.
Still no 5th job…
It’s OK. All of the not-updates mean that Nexon is simply devoting most of their resources to developing 5th job. So chill
THAT IS AMAZING! I also LOVE the new runes,
Also that combo system sounds good and I like the idea of old maps becoming something worth going to a side from heart stones and ores
