KMS ver. 1.2.257 – Optimization & New Events
This patch actually came out a few days ago but honestly MapleStory is really boring right now so I missed it haha. They didn’t even make one of those information center videos this time. Anyways, it’s basically the last test server patch + a couple of events.
On the bright side, only one more week until the Hi-Five showcase!
EDIT: Someone has brought to my attention that Star Planet will be closing! I’ve added a bit more information about this to the post.
Star Planet
On June 30, Star Planet will be closed. Content such as the daily quests that reward Star Points + Mileage and the Shining Star (and its rewards) will no longer occur.
However, you will still be able to play the minigames using the Star Planet Mobile app.
Any characters left inside Star Planet will be moved to the entrance map and all Star Planet-only characters must choose a job and move to Maple World before July 14.

Uncompleted Sudden Missions will now only decrease your daily limit if you have begun to complete them. (e.g. if you afk and receive some Sudden Missions and they time out, you won’t have your daily limit decreased anymore).
The time it takes to enter maps has been decreased.
The data loading speed before logging into a character has been increased, allowing faster access to Maple World.
The skill effect transparency setting has been changed to not affect certain skills.
- Important ‘install’ skills during party play will no longer become transparent.
- Other Evan players’ Mir will become translucent instead of transparent while using Dragon skills.
The following SEED related bugs have been fixed:
- An error where you would sometimes not be teleported to the starting point after falling on the 4th floor has been fixed.
- An error where certain Aura skills applied on the 14th floor has been fixed.
The Masterpiece UI has been changed.
An error where all Colour Lenses could not be used on certain Android faces has been fixed.
Skill Related
The following bugs have been fixed:
- An error where Shadower’s Assassinate and Demon Avenger’s Exceed skills would sometimes not consume MP or HP when hitting monsters has been fixed.
- An error where Angelic Burster’s Pink Scud would not move smoothly has been fixed.
- An error where skills with cooldowns would not have cooldown reduction effects apply properly after having their cooldowns reset has been fixed.

Sun Solstice
The Sun Solstice event began on June 16 and will run until June 29.
The first part of the event is the Burning Attendance Check. Each day, log in and kill 2,000 monsters around your level to particpate. For each day you complete the quest, you’ll receive prizes.

By hunting monsters around your level, defeating Elite Monsters, and completing Sudden Missions, you can get Not Hot Boxes.
When opened, these boxes give experience based on your level and Mileage, as well as one random item.

In addition, during this event, various Sunpower benefits will be in effect.
- Runes: appearance rate and cooldown are decreased, experience boost is increased to 200%
- Burning Fields: time it takes to increase stages is decreased by 2x, duration of each Burning stage is increased by 2x
- Flame Wolf: experience given is increased by 2x
- Sudden Mission: mission appearnce rate is decreased, daily limit is increased to 6
- Monster Park: on Sundays, you can enter for free 7 times
Finally, there will be 2x experience held on Fridays from 3-5 PM and 8-10 PM, and on Monday from 8 PM – 12 AM.
Sunday Gift
The Sunday Gift event will take place on June 19 and June 26. All you have to do is login on these days between 10 AM and 11:59 PM to get the Sunday Gift Box.
You can then choose one of eight planet chairs. Along with your chair, you’ll get a Burning Attendance Check Coupon.
The Burning Attendance Check Coupon lets you receive one of the prizes from the Burning Attendance Check event for free.
I believe you have to have received that prize already by participating in the attendance check, so you can’t use it to skip a day or anything.

Is this is conference where there is much speculation on a 5th job possibly?
Possibly! We don’t really know what’s going to be shown off but it will almost definitely include stuff that will be added in the summer update (whether or not that contains 5th job, but I highly doubt that). Hopefully, if 5th job is going to be our winter update, they’ll show a little teaser for it or something.

How rare is the Sun Chair from the Not Hot Boxes?
Not max but it’s rare. About as rare as any other event boxes “mega” item, it’s higher up than the highest tier of rare items (rarer than meister cubes, or inno or strong rebirth flames.) I don’t think they’ll tell the exact percentage because since it’s not a paid RNG type thing they’re not required by law.
I’ve opened well over 700 boxes since the start of the event, and got one chair. Which I promptly sold. On Luna, at least, they’re dropping in price pretty quick. They were like 2bil at the start of the event and have gone down to around 1.6-1.4b depending on when you check.
In short, I wouldn’t expect to get a chair. Buy one if you really want it.

I will give it a shot when it comes to GMS, like I did with the mardi gras chair and the frozen carriage chair, got both of them after a lot of pain.

Does it say Star Planet is shutting down?
Oh wow I didn’t even see that. Yeah so apparently what’s happening is that Star Planet is closing (so no more Shining Stars/daily quests) but you can still access the minigames and stuff through Star Planet Mobile (the smartphone app). This also means that Star Planet-only characters will be automatically moved to Maple World.
It does. It says services will end on the 30th of june, and all characters will be forcibly moved on july 14th.
It also says star planet M will remain available. Wonder why they’re shutting it down? I mean I know no one plays anything but yut and star one card but damn… I liked the typing games and free pets.
I also liked that you could farm a lot of RP.
The Star Planet Mobile app still lets you collect Mileage (Rewards Points), it just doesn’t have any games other than One Card/Yut.
Just from reading some random comments, it looks like one of their reasons was a high amount of bots that just used macros to farm points.
Can’t say I haven’t seen them, but leaving the mobile app isn’t gonna really be much help, there’s tons of trainers for star planet M explicitly that run through yut.

It’s actually not though. In any version of the game you’ll be hard pressed to find people playing anything but the quick and simple games to rack up MRP/mileage. Which is one card and yut, which are available on the mobile app in korea.
They very well may keep star planet in other versions of the game, cause I know in GMS at least it’s pretty much the only thing keeping lots of f2p people from dropping the game altogether.

I actually have some real fond memories of playing games there with my gf, before we became a couple. She felt really special and excited when she randomly became a shining star…
The benefit of GMS is that it just pulls from any random version. There’s TONS of content it can yank from any other version at any given time. There’s still the familiars update+silent crusade update that hasn’t made it’s way there, and I have a feeling will at some point after heroes of maple & the new monster collection system pretty much negating the traditional crusader codex, even though it doesn’t give as good of stat buffs.
That blessing is also a curse though. JMS’s content is just about all garbage.
For once thing: Kanna Hayato and Beast Tamer, who are the three most OP characters in the game.
Beast Tamer may not be able to use all four animals at once, but that doesn’t matter because each of them are as good as four characters anyway, and one of them was literally designed to be used while AFK.
Kanna has TWO attacks that hit the whole screen at SECOND JOB, AND she can increase monster spawns? The heck?
And of course, Hayato, plays like any other warrior (except Zero. Zero is pretty much the exception to every rule about ms classes.) Except that Hayato moves faster, deals more damage, hits more enemies, and has more health.
On top of all that, kanna and hayato have storylines which make zero sense in the grander scale of maplestory’s narrative, and Beast Tamer’s is only minisculely better.
I haven’t played as the Zenn, so I have no idea if he’s as bad.
What more? Well, the new areas they design are crap as well. The bosses are so powerful that a player who isn’t perfectly funded needs to wait 40 extra levels before they even have a chance of stopping the bosses. Even though KMS realized that nobody enjoyed platforming quests and they ought to focus elsewhere, JMS didn’t get the memo and are throwing content that nobody ever has enjoyed in the way of progressing on their quest chains. Same thing goes for the stupid ‘point and shoot’ quests.
Plus, the only times I have ever seen maplestory crash are when dealing with JMS content, and it’s also where every bit of lag comes in.
Honestly, we’d all be better off if GMS stopped taking JMS content.
Say what you will about GMS’s content being garbage, at least New Leaf City is cool, and Jett’s core is an actual interesting system.

The new hero pets (evan luminous etc) – do they provide a “set bonus buff” like 15MATK/ATK or something? or do they have no such set skills? (like the demon / jr commanders ones) and if they do, can i combine different heroes from different sets like evan lumi mercedes or nah?

All of the ‘set of 3’ pets in KMS that are released have the attack set bonuses. I don’t believe you can mix the two Hero sets though.

Yeah, the pets for the hero packs are explicitly for the pack they’re released in on KMS.
GMS may mix it up since it seems like they’re gonna release all of them at once? That would be pretty cool, honestly, a mix and match 3 pet buff set.
wow……I don’t really play star planet but thats kind of messed up.
Heya, was wondering if after all this time KMS had the monster collection, if theres any guide on how to actually get them? accoridng to the question mark, you need to complete “certain conditions” in order to enlist one to your collection, but i can’t seem to get monsters 3 stars and above. Have it already been figured out? is it luck based?
Those “certain conditions” are basically spam killing. I basically sat in the HoH for two or three days just killing mobs for the haste event a while back and one of them took forever. I also got normal zakum in two tries on one account, and still don’t have it after well over 800 runs on another account. Not like one is particularly faster than the other either, so I don’t think it’s a constraint on that part, i’m pretty sure it’s just killing mobs until you get them. No one anywhere that I check has said otherwise.
I haven’t been on for a while so please excuse me if there is an alternative source now, but I was curious, with the closing of star planet does that mean there are no more chances to get one of those special hair color mixing coupons?
They sell them sometimes in the Cash Shop now
