Boss: Lucid

A new boss, Lucid, has been added.

  • The Queen of Nightmares, Lucid has finally been unveiled in the City of Dreams, Lacheln.
  • You can meet Lucid when you reach the top floor of the Clocktower of Nightmares, by completing the Lacheln area quests.
  • Commander Lucid can be challenged in a party of 1-6 people.
  • Each person will have a Death Count of 10.
  • You can clear Lucid once per week.

Lucid is a level 230 boss, people on Insoya have calculated that her first phase and second phase have have 14.5 trillion HP each. She has 300% PDR and requires 360 Arcane Force (THAT’S CRAZY).

Lucid has two phases. In the first one, she sits on a flower and uses a variety of skills on you. There’s a few summons, a flower attack very similar to Damien’s sword slash, giant dream scythes, and bullet hell butterfly balls.

In phase 2, Lucid teleports everyone to another map where she flies around.

You can see a video of the fight here!

Hungry Muto

Muto vs Gula

New party content in Chew Chew Island, Hungry Muto, has been added. Join forces with other Maplers to create a line of delicious dishes, to help Muto in his fight against Gula!

Entry Conditions

You can talk to Simia in the Secluded Village Area to enter this content. To enter, you must meet the following conditions:

  • Complete the quest ‘Goodbye Chew Chew Island’
  • Be in a party of 1~4 people
  • Can be cleared up to 3 times per day

The rewards will include Arcane Symbol: Chew Chew Island and experience. The rewards will given out based on your clear record and the challenge difficulty.

  • Normal
    • S Rank (5 minutes or less): 3 Arcane Symbols
    • A Rank (8 minutes or less): 2 Arcane Symbols
    • B Rank (10 minutes or less): 1 Arcane Symbol
  • Hard
    • S Rank (5 minutes or less): 5 Arcane Symbols
    • A Rank (8 minutes or less): 4 Arcane Symbols
    • B Rank (10 minutes or less): 3 Arcane Symbols

Basically, you have 10 minutes to complete enough recipes so that Muto will defeat Gula (i.e. the green bar at the top fills all the way up). If you do it fast enough, you’ll even get bonus gauge!

Note that you can only hold one ingredient at a time! So if you have 10 of something and accidentally loot 1 of something else, you’ll lose all 10 of the first ingredient, which sucks. Also sometimes there will be a mystery recipe so you’ll have to try out different ones (or just find a list of the recipes haha).

Chew Chew Food Truck.png

The Spiegelmann’s Adventure Express Season 3: Chew Chew Food Truck event has begun and will run until September 7.

Chew Chew Remote Island

This time, Spiegelmann has parked his Adventure Express in the Chew Chew Remote Island. In the centre of the island, you will set up a food truck!

Food Truck

As customers come and order food, you must traverse the island and buy the required ingredients using Chew Chew Coins from various NPCs within a certain amount of time. When you return, they’ll pay you in Chew Chew Coins and your Food Truck’s fame will increase.

You can participate in this event up to 10 times per day.

Food Truck UI.png

At the top of your screen, you’ll see:

  1. Your remaining time. You will have 20 minutes to make as many recipes as possible.
  2. Your recipe slots. You can see your current recipes, their required ingredients, selling price, and cooking time. As you level up your food truck, you’ll be able to serve more people at the same time.
  3. Your remaining time for the recipe. Customers won’t wait forever! If you don’t finish the recipe in time, they’ll leave and your food truck’s fame will go down.

Food Truck Stats

Also at the top of your screen is your stats.

  1. Truck Level: increased when your fame is increased (max level 5)
  2. Fame: increased when you successfully serve customers, decreased when you don’t fulfill a customer (if your fame decreases enough, your Truck Level will decrease as well)
  3. Saved Coins: the Chew Chew Coins you currently have. These are spent on buying ingredients and also can be traded in for other prizes. You start off with 50 Coins and when time is up, you will keep any excess coins you currently hold (i.e. you will only keep X – 50 coins).
  4. Movement Speed: your Dash skill’s movement speed is enhanced based on this level (max level 10)
  5. Cooking Speed: your recipe cooking speed is decreased based on this level (max level 10)
  6. Customer Speed: your time between new customers is decreased and your time alotted per recipe is increased based on this level (max level 10)

To level up your three Speed stats, you have to find the God of Control NPCs on the island and trade Chew Chew Coins to upgrade them.

So from what I can tell from the sprites, Lucid, as an Elven student/child, just wanted her senpai Mercedes to notice her but somehow found her way to the Black Mage and is now using that as a way to finally get attention? With Lucid now a yandere who wants to kill everyone who dares to challenge her (and thus is at a comparable level to her beloved Mercedes)?

That kind of walks over Athena’s age, since she was noted to be much younger than Merc, but I guess every once in awhile the Queen might’ve rolled around to the school to see the trainees… or something.

    • Max
      August 17, 2016 at 10:58 pm

The story as told to me by my friend June who completed the quests:

Lucid wanted Mercedes’ attention and praise, but she wasn’t good at archery. One day, she fell asleep while training during the night and discovered she could control dreams. She made a music box for Mercedes, who loved it. Everyone else in the town came to listen to it too but Lucid wanted only Mercedes to enjoy it.

There was a war, and Mercedes didn’t let Lucid or Helena come with her because it was too dangerous. They both decided to follow her (separately) and while Lucid stays hidden, Helena is noticed by Mercedes, who entrusted her with the town’s treasure and told her to take care of the town while she was gone.

Lucid, who was so jealous of Helena, erased herself from everyone’s memory and left to be alone with her own dreams. While she was doing this, the six Heroes fought against the Black Mage and were cursed in ice. Lucid, being an elf from Elluel, was also frozen in ice, but due to her ability to control the subconscious, she was awake the entire time, causing her to begin to go crazy.

The Black Mage appeared to Lucid and offered her new powers and a new world. When she accepted, Lucid broke out of the ice in her new form.

In the present, the Alliance is arguing due to the existence of Future Henesys and Ereb. Lucid, who was watching, said that even though they found out that it was all an illusion, everything was going according to plan because she planted seeds of doubt. She returns to the Black Mage and tells him that she can’t wait until he takes over the world. She asks him to show her what his new world will look like and all she sees is pitch black darkness.

Surprised, Lucid leaves the Black Mage and creates the City of Dreams, Lacheln, a place where happiness is eternal. She decides to spread this dream across all of Maple World so that the Black Mage will see her vision and change his mind.

      • Prominis
        August 17, 2016 at 11:33 pm

So they decided to kill one of his remaining commanders, who was advocating for eternal happiness as a post-world-domination plan, and by defeating Lucid we’re basically pushing the Black Mage further into a depressive rut in which he feels the only salvation the world can face is a complete and utter blackout.

… Who the hell thought attacking Lucid was a good idea?

        • Prominis
          August 17, 2016 at 11:45 pm

Wait, even worse than that, Lucid already left the Black Mage. Why are we even attacking her? Ignoring the fact that she’d probably assault Athena and everyone who talks to Mercedes on sight out of jealousy, Lucid could be a serious force multiplier for the Alliance.

Sometimes it feels like what Maple World really needs is better communication.

          • Max
            August 17, 2016 at 11:48 pm

I mean she’s not completely good lol, she’s pretty crazy and she put an entire town under a dream. She’s basically Madara from Naruto with his Infinite Tsukuyomi plan 😛

          • Prominis
            August 18, 2016 at 12:36 am

Comparatively though… Lucid’s plans seem much more pleasant (to the suferer) than the Black Mage’s. She’s also considerably more attractive, unless the Black Mage takes off his veil to reveal that the darkness has turned him roguishly handsome.

            August 24, 2016 at 7:44 am

Speaking of Tsukuyomi, the Watchful God Abraxas’s theme plays when Lucid invites you in… Does that mean that in her dreams, “time, space, even physical mass, she controls them all”

          • Prominis
            August 24, 2016 at 11:30 am

Makes you wonder whether you ever truly beat Lucid; what if it’s all just another illusion inside the illusion?

        • MS
          August 17, 2016 at 11:55 pm

You forget. From Max’s summary, one can gather that she has gone effectively insane from spending her time conscious in the frozen ice. Her definition of “eternal happiness” is twisted as she is. As long as we spend time in HER dreamland forever, it’s fine? Nah, man. We are stamping her illusion because it’s a fake. A dream only lasts as long as the dreamer is asleep.

I think the solution is coffee. Lots of it.

Sigh. Another MapleStory lore added to my to-do list. It’s amazing how Nexon keeps incorporating these new bosses into the established storyline while carefully stepping around plot-holes.

Too many to count although Nexon had begun to ret-con several of them with the start of Black Heaven.

I wonder if there will be a blockbuster centered around Lucid, Shade, and Mercedes

        • August 25, 2016 at 12:09 am

They said Lucid would be an open-world boss, but it does make me wonder if Lucid has any special dialogue for Mercedes and Shade characters…

You need to level up your Arcane Symbols. For 360 AF, you’ll probably need level 10 of all 3 symbols (each will give 120 AF). For reference, my Road of Vanishing AS is only level 7 and I’ve been doing the daily quests since it came out. Chew Chew didn’t have daily quests and it just got the new PQ to get more symbols so its much harder to level that one up. And the new Lacheln one literally depends entirely on how lucky you are that you can get them as drops, so it will be extremely slow as well.

Do you know how many Butterfly Wing Droplet Stones Lucid drops per kill and how rare the regular Arcane River Droplet Stone (… long names) are?

        • Max
          August 17, 2016 at 10:59 pm

No, sorry. I don’t think we’ll be able to know for a long time until Lucid is killed haha

            August 17, 2016 at 11:35 pm

That’s a really good point actually. Guess I was a bit premature, my bad lol

I’m going to (hope) guess around five to seven per or so, like CRA, because if they dropped one for every kill you’d need to take down Lucid 74 times for only four pieces of the set.

        August 17, 2016 at 11:16 pm

If it’s so hard to get Arcane Force, how are players getting 300 Arcane Force or more in videos? Is it all from drops, or are there other ways of leveling up their symbols besides dailies?

        • Max
          August 17, 2016 at 11:25 pm

Road of Vanishing AS: dailies (8 per day) + monster drops
Chew Chew Island AS: daily pq (maximum 15 per day if you get S Rank on Hard Mode 3 times) + monster drops
          Lacheln AS: only monster drops

I guess if you farmed A LOT you could theoretically have 300 AF already, idk.

            August 18, 2016 at 12:14 am

When you say monster drops, what exactly are you referring to?

Do the monsters here drop Arcane Symbols, or is it something you exchange for AS EXP, or what?

          • Max
            August 18, 2016 at 12:36 am

Yep, all monsters in Arcane River drop their corresponding area’s Arcane Symbol.

    August 17, 2016 at 11:18 pm

Ugh. If you get 1 Butterfly Wings Droplet Stone per Lucid, you will have to beat her 24 times to get just 1 Weapon. It seems Nexon’s end game strategy is to make people repeat things over and over.
    – Repeat daily quests to level first arcane stone
    – Repeat PQ to level second arcane stone
    – Hunt at Lacheln to level the third arcane stone
    – Repeat beating Lucid until you get the weapon set
    :S

Glad to know the Arcane Shade set is still inferior to Tyrant + CRA gear (at least for GMS).

Not really, it’s a win for us zeroes, cuz the essence is separate from the lucky item set scroll so MWAHAHAHAHA

      August 18, 2016 at 2:25 pm

THIS. They release all these bosses with new interesting mechanics, that cannot be experienced by well over 90% of maplers.

        August 19, 2016 at 12:55 am

They don’t give a shit sadly. All they care about is what the people with money say. Reboot is dead in KMS. And GMS can’t even fix simple server lag after all these god damn years. Rhis game I swear.

        • Anonymous
          August 21, 2016 at 3:56 am

Reboot isn’t dead. Not in the slightest. It’s so populated that they recently released a second reboot server in KMS. GMS is a total mess though, yeah. Maybe you’ll get some staff that care soon with the EMS merge.

Not sure if that’s going to happen anytime soon :/ or ever.

It’s all about the munny for nexon end-game unfortunately

Well on the (kinda?) bright side, if you have 300k range and get like 30% atk it’ll prob jump to to like 700k [fast range booster]

      August 18, 2016 at 8:45 am

It’s the upgrade item for zero’s weapon. You use the essence to get it to lapiz/lazuli 9 (or is it 10? I don’t remember), then the scroll to get it on the arcane shade set.

    • Max
      August 18, 2016 at 12:03 pm

You need 1 to upgrade Lapis/Lazuli to 9 (just like you need one Absolabs Essence to upgrade from 7 to 8).

      • Anonymous
        August 18, 2016 at 4:02 pm

Question Max, are the Absolab Essence and Arcane Essence tradeable?

Im back to this game because of Aran’s revamp and now they keep fucking him up. His 5th job isnt impressive either. meanwhile it’s not easy to play as an Aran and not many people can actually play him. Fuck you Nexon. I’m out of this game. Why revamp and then treat him like shit after? Fucking ridiculous!

  16. August 19, 2016 at 4:01 am

By the way, Necord Music appears to have filed a copyright claim on all of the Arcane River music in SlipySlidy’s database (everything from Vanishing Road, Chew Chew Island, and Lacheln has been taken down). Nothing else seems to have been taken down, though, so I don’t know why these in particular went down. Maybe because they were produced internally instead of outsourced?

If anyone wants it, you can still find it here; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bwpm4yOvfiw

    • Lore guy
      August 19, 2016 at 4:47 am

it’s probably youtube’s auto copyright bots (that’s a serious problem on youtube at the moment) and not really the company filing any DMCA takedowns, I could be wrong, but most of the time it’s the stupid bots.

      • Anonymous
        August 19, 2016 at 5:53 am

Actually it’s NECORD, Nexon created NECORD to be a platform to sell the BGMs for their games, but they only have the more recent maple BGMs (the newer masteria blockbusters and that one about jett and the sengoku classes) and closers stuff at the moment.

Basically they’re trying to sell the bgms on an OST so they’re probably going to aim to remove it from all pages that aren’t their own.

    • Anonymous

Aran has the shittest fifth job and their dps isn’t even high. Nexon revamped the whole concept of aran using combos, giving them two gay finisher moves and nerfing final blow and beyonder. The next patch that is coming to GMS, Nexon will continue to nerf Aran’s adrenaline rush and other skills which I thought was ridiculous enough. After reading this post, I just want to say, fuck you, Nexon. Us, Aran players are not tanky like the other warrior classes, and to see what you’ve done to our drain, pole arm booster, and cleaving attack, fuck you.

Hey max . .can you get me a screen shot of a demon avenger’s arcane symbols .and if it exists, can you find me a screen shot of a 25 star weapon in KMS. BTW, with 25 stars being the cap, how does the star force conversion system work in KMS? By my calculations, you’d need to have them give 280 hp per star from 251 – 330 stars and 420 – 450 hp per star from 331+ to make up for the missing base hp from star force on 22 star or so equipment. Problem is last I heard, you’d only get like 7175 hp with a max of 40 stars being counted . .. . that’s a far cry from the 160 – 180k ish MaxHP you should be getting from star force conversion to compensate for 20 – 22 star equips. . . just sayin’.

Hi, I’m from MaplestorySEA and we have not gotten the content for 5th job yet. I was just wondering if anyone here could advice on how much stats increment can each arcane symbol add to your main stats when they are at level 10. Thank you! =)

  29. August 27, 2016 at 12:27 am

What is the max lvl of the Arcane Symbols and how much AF does max ones give, and is it feasible to reach max lvl for the Arcane Symbols?

    • Max
      August 27, 2016 at 7:50 pm

Max level of all Arcane Symbols is 15. At level 15, an Arcane Symbol will give 170 AF.
I mean for regular people, not really, since for Road of Vanishing, you only get 8 from daily quests. For Chew Chew, they only recently added the Hungry Muto content that gives max 15 per day. For Lacheln, it’s straight up monster drop farming. If you have lots of drop gear and lots of time, you can probably level it up fast-ish.

For reference, I’ve been doing the daily quests for Road of Vanishing almost every day since it came out and mine is level 9.
