KMS ver. 1.2.410 – MapleStory Crown: Kinesis Remaster!

December 28, 2025 Leave a comment Go to comments

The first patch of the MapleStory Crown update has been released! The main features include the Kinesis remaster, tons various game improvements and quality of life changes, and Challenge World season 3. This time, there’s an extra Challenge World-exclusive season boss, Kai!

Sorry for the post being late, this patch came out a week and a half ago but since there were only a few days inbetween the KMST and KMS release, I didn’t have enough time to do a KMST post (as I mentioned before) so I had to translate everything all at once (and there was a lot in these patch notes). Then I was busy playing the actual game and other assorted holiday stuff lol.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas, happy holidays, and happy new year!

Custom Illustrations

Custom illustrations based on your own unique outfits! Save your illustrations and apply them you desire when viewing stories or looking at the character info window!

Custom Illustration Introduction

  • The Custom Illustration system uses generative AI to transform your character’s appearance into an illustration in MapleStory’s art style.
  • Custom illustrations will be operated as a beta service after the update.
  • To use custom illustrations, you need an ‘Illustration Request Ticket’ item. For detailed instructions on how to acquire them, please check the ‘Custom Illustration Event’ section.
  • Accounts with a level 270 or higher character will be entered automatically in the pre-request event. You can check the results immediately after logging in during the event period. For more information, please check the ‘Custom Illustration Pre-Request Event’ page.

How to Request an Illustration

  • After customizing your character with your desired appearance, you can click the Custom Illustration button in the character info window, use the Illustration Request Ticket, or talk to the Moving Easel NPC to open the Custom Illustration window.
  • If you have an Illustration Request Ticket, you can click the ‘Request an Illustration’ button to start the request.
  • After a certain amount of time has passed after your request, a notification will appear that opens the Custom Illustration UI where you can check your request results.
  • You can select all of the illustrations that you wish to save from the request results and click ‘Finish’ to complete the request.

Applying Illustrations

  • You can select and apply one of your saved illustrations from the Custom Illustration window.
  • You can set each illustration’s background colour to either a solid colour or a gradient.
  • The currently applied illustration will appear in the story dialogue windows instead of your character sprite and job illustration.
  • The currently applied illustration will also be displayed in the Custom Illustration window in the Character Info UI. You can change the settings to display this or not when other characters view your character’s info.
  • You can change the custom illustration’s application range through the Custom Illustration UI’s options.
    • Display in Story Dialogue
    • Share with Other Characters
    • View Other Characters’ Illustrations

Notes When Requesting Illustrations

  • The following things will not be included in the requested appearance.
    • Weapon and secondary weapon items
    • Effect items, Cash effects, weapon effects
    • Character’s actions, motions, and emotes
    • Character’s mounts and chairs
    • Transformations and Illusion Rings
  • You cannot complete a request while wearing a collaboration item, items that have poor results, or items that may have inappropriate results. Please follow the instructions when requesting.
  • An illustration request’s results can be viewed for about 7 days after requesting. However, if the request is not completed within that period, it will expire and can no longer be saved. Please make sure to save them within the period.
  • If you have an activate illustration request on another character in your account, you cannot proceed with another request on a different character at the same time.
  • For Zero characters, the custom illustration storage slots are separate for Alpha and Beta. The request results can only be saved on the character that submitted the request. In addition, each Alpha and Beta character is assigned a separate custom illustration, so every time the character is Tagged, the corresponding custom illustration will be applied.
  • Custom illustrations will not be applied in the story dialogue windows in certain Zero class stories.
  • For Angelic Buster characters, the illustrations can be applied to both Normal and Dress-Up Mode. The corresponding custom illustration will be applied based on the character’s Mode.
  • If you World Leap a character while a request is in-progress, the request resutls will disappear. Please save the request results before World Leaping.
  • The saved illustrations are stored per character, and if the character is deleted, the saved illustrations will also be deleted.

※ Please understand that the list of items that cannot be included in a request may change in real time.

※ The illustration results are created using generative AI, so the quality and elements of each results may vary.

The changed colours of items with the Colouring Prism/Colouring Prism Pro/Weapon Effect Prism applied will no longer be displayed on MapleHands+, the homepage, and certain content UI that display character appearances.

Developer Notes:

We have confirmed that it will take more time to resolve the server load issues caused by Colouring Prisms/Colouring Prism Pro/Weapon Effect Prisms, so in this update, we have changed it so that you can equip any number of items with Prisms applied with no more restrictions. However, instead of that, we have limited the display of changed colours from Prisms in certain content.

This is a temporary measure, and we will strive to resolve the root cause of the server load issue as quickly as possible to restore normal usage of Prism items.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by this inability to provide a stable service.

[Activation Command: ↓↓↑↑ + Attack key]

Consumes 250 Soul. For 120 seconds, summon Kai that deals 450% damage 4 times on up to 10 enemies.

      Cooldown: 150 seconds.

Information

Neo Vandalism (Phase 1)
Voltage Overdrive (Phase 2)
City of Eternal Night (Reward)
  • Level: 270 (Normal)/Hard (280)
  • HP: 126t (Normal)/483t (Hard)
  • Time Limit: 20 minutes
  • Death Count: 5

There are a few main mechanics when fighting Kai.

  • While fighting Kai, the Chrono Gauge (top half of the UI) will fill automatically. However, it will be decreased if you are hit by Kai’s attacks.
  • You can use the Chrono Step skill (bottom half of the UI) with the NPC Chat/Harvest key. When used, you will dash in a direction while avoiding Kai’s attacks for 0.5 seconds. You prepare 1 charge every 5 seconds and can hold up to 3 charges.
  • Above the UI, there will be a timer for the Time Distortion. After 1 minute, Kai will activate the Time Distortion where he uses extremely fast skills. When this happens, you can use the Chrono Break skill with the Tab key to slow down time (the duration is based on how full the Chrono Gauge was), allowing you to dodge the attacks with Chrono Step. In the Time Distortion, successfully parrying an attack with Chrono Step will instantly refund its cooldown.
  • As you dodge attacks in Time Distortion, there will be a score at the top of the screen. It will go up as you dodge attacks but if you die during the Time Distortion, it will freeze until you revive. If you can reach 10,000 points before the Time Distortion ends, then Kai will enter a groggy state and all of your cooldowns will be decreased by 40s.
  • When Kai reaches 50% HP, he will become stronger and his skills will be enhanced.

not sure how I feel about them using generative AI in the game now. It’s only a matter of time before they have enough training data to fire the artists and replace them with AI artworks. This game was one of the last things I’d expect them to use generative AI on since it’s pixel art. I guess it is inevitable for any game at this point.

Given that players can arrange characters’ outfits on their own, they really should have made illustrations of each outfit piece separately and let players mix, stack, and adjust them.
I agree it is inevitable for any game at this point. It’s a shame, yet not surprising.
