KMS ver. 1.2.411 – MapleStory Crown: Sol Hecate, Astra Subweapon, & Radiant Malefic Star!

The second patch of the MapleStory Crown update has been released! It contains the new 6th job common core, Sol Hecate, the new Astra subweapon system, and a new boss, Radiant Malefic Star! There were also some skill balance adjustments and other game changes/QoL.

Overview

HEXA Skill – Common Core

A new common core that is shared between all classes has been added.

  • Sol Hecate
    • A new skill that collects Sol Erda, drawn in by the Adversary’s resolve, to form a familiar.
    • Sol Hecate will grow as its level increases. When it reaches certain levels, additional exclusive skills will be activated.
  • Sol Hecate: Styx
    • A new skill that releases a wave of densely concentrated Sol Erda to lead enemies to their death.
  • Sol Hecate: Charon
    • A new skill that protects the contract holder from their fate of death when hit by a fatal attack.
  • Sol Hecate: Phlegethon
    • A new skill that disrupts the order of the Sol Erda that forms the world to temporarily break the barrier between the living and the underworld.
  • Sol Hecate: Pactum
    • A new skill that aligns Sol Hecate’s will with the Adversary, controlling how Sol Hecate’s exclusive skills manifest.
  • Sol Hecate, Sol Hecate: Styx, and Sol Hecate: Phlegethon will have different damage values for each class.
    • Note: I won’t be listing every single class’ damage values since that’s crazy.

In summary, Sol Hecate is a skill that grows as you level it up.

  • Level 1
    • Sol Hecate – Automatically tracks and attacks enemies.
    • Sol Hecate: Styx – Attacks and binds enemies for 4 seconds with 1 minute cooldown. This bind stacks with other bind durations (i.e. if you use it immediately after Erda Bind, the enemy will be bound for 10+4 = 14 seconds.) You can use Sol Hecate: Pactum to link this with one of your other skills (e.g. AB link) to have Sol Hecate automatically use Styx when that skill is used. Otherwise, you can cast Styx manually by hotkeying it separately.
  • Level 20
    • Sol Hecate: Charon – If you are hit by an attack that would kill you, it will be ignored and you will be invincible for 10 seconds with a 10 minute cooldown. You can use Sol Hecate: Pactum to set a hotkey to end the invincibility effect early.
  • Level 30
    • Sol Hecate: Phlegeton – Attacks enemies with a big burst of damage with a 2 minute cooldown. You can link this with another skill just like Styx or use it manually.

You can acquire the Astra subweapon after completing quests to collect Fierce Battle Traces and Erion’s Fragments. There are three stages of the Astra subweapon, with the following requirements.

  • 1st Mission: 600 Fierce Battle Traces and 3,000 Erion’s Fragments
  • 2nd Mission: 600 Fierce Battle Traces and 3,000 Erion’s Fragments
  • 3rd Mission: 800 Fierce Battle Traces and 4,000 Erion’s Fragments

You can acquire Fierce Battle Traces by defeating Grandis area bosses at Chosen Seren (Normal) and above.

※ You can accumulate up to 1,000 Fierce Battle Traces. If you exceed the current quest’s required amount of Traces, you can use the extra in the next quest.

You can acquire untradeable Erion’s Fragments by completing the following Grandis area daily quests. You will acquire the Fragments based on the highest level area daily quest you have completed that day.

If you receive the rewards from a lower level area’s daily quest then complete a higher level area’s daily quest, you will receive Erion’s Fragments equal to the difference in the reward amount between those two areas.

※ The number of Erion’s Fragments dropped are different based on the boss and difficulty.

※ If you trade the tradeable Erion’s Fragment Vouchers 1 time, they will become items that can only be put into storage.

Astra subweapons all have the following properties.

  • Untradeable.
  • Level 200 or higher characters can equip them.
  • All Astra subweapons can be enhanced up to 15/20/30 stars based on the quest progress (except for Astra Blades).
  • Astra Blades can be enhanced up to 30 stars regardless of the quest progress, but they have 3/6/10 scroll enhancement slots based on the quest progress.
  • All Astra subweapons’ Star Force enhancement stat boosts are the same as level 200 armor (except for Astra Blades).
  • Astra Blades’ Star Force enhancement stat boosts apply the same rules as Arcane Shade Blades.

If an Astra subweapon is destroyed through Star Force enhancements, you can purchase a replacement for 1b mesos.

If you have completed all of the Astra subweapon quests, you can reset the quests through Nineheart in Ereb to do them again.

You can enhance the Astra Sacred Aegis and Astra Topaz Aegis using a special scroll.

  • Astra Aegis Only Attack Scroll: 100% success rate, STR +30, DEX +10, Attack +10
  • You can buy the Astra Aegis Only Attack Scroll for 500m mesos each. You can use up to 5.

You can enhance the Astra Arcane Shield, Astra Ruby Shield, Astra Prominent Shield, and Astra Umbral Shield using a special scroll.

  • Astra Shield Only Magic Attack Scroll: 100% success rate, INT +30, LUK +10, Magic Attack +10
  • You can buy the Astra Shield Only Magic Attack Scroll for 500m mesos each. You can use up to 5.

You can enhance the Astra Bane Shield using a special scroll.

  • Astra Bane Shield Only Attack Scroll: 100% success rate, LUK +30, DEX +10, Attack +10
  • You can buy the Astra Bane Shield Only Attack Scroll for 500m mesos each. You can use up to 5.

You can enhance the Astra Blade using a special scroll.

  • Astra Blade Only Attack Scroll: 100% success rate, LUK +15, DEX +15, Attack +9
  • You can buy the Astra Shield Only Attack Scroll for 1b mesos each. You can use up to 10.

※ You can buy the Astra Subweapon Only Scrolls through the NPC Erion.

If Demon Slayers and Demon Avengers equip an Astra Force Shield that had the Ruin Force Shield transferred to it, they can use the Astra Infusion skill.

  • Astra Infusion is an on/off skill that increases final damage by 10% and damage taken by 8% (for Demon Slayers)/25% (for Demon Avengers).

For Zero characters:

  • If a Zero character equips an Astra Hourglass, their subweapon slot’s Great Sword/Long Sword’s damage/boss damage/defense ignore boosts from potential/additional potential/base stats/bonus stats will not be applied. They will be replaced with the Astra Hourglass’ stats.

※ If you unequip the Astra Hourglass, the subweapon slot’s Great Sword/Long Sword’s stats will be applied again.

Developer Notes:

Unlike existing subweapons that had varying utility across jobs, we aimed to ensure that the Astra subweapons offered as similar utility as possible.

To achieve this, we decided to adjust subweapons’ utility in cases where they differed from other jobs.

First, for Archmage (F/P), Archmage (I/L), Bishop, Flame Wizard, Evan, Battle Mage, Shadower, and Heroes/Paladins/Soul Masters that chose one-handed Genesis weapons, you can acquire additional stats equivalent to a 20 star Deimos Shield through special scroll enhancements.

For Dual Blades, since they have already Star Forced their subweapons, you can transfer Star Force enhancement levels by paying the difference in the costs of destruction recovery. In addition, you can acquire stats that other classes gain from Star Force enhancements on their Astra subweapons through special scroll enhancements.

For Demon Slayers and Demon Avengers, if you equip an Astra Force Shield that had the Ruin Force Shield transferred to it, you can use the ‘Astra Infusion’ on/off skill that increases final damage and damage taken, the same as a Ruin Force Shield.

For Zero, depending on if you were in Alpha/Beta, the subweapon’s base stats/bonus stats’ damage/boss damage/defense ignore effects and the potential/additional potential’s effects would be applied. However, if Zero equips the Astra subweapon, they will no longer acquire those stats from potential/additional potential or base stats/bonus stats. The Astra subweapon’s base stats will be increased equal to those values.

※ Zero cannot transfer to an Astra subweapon.

Developer Notes:

The list of transferrable items is limited to the ‘subweapons for which top-tier items are difficult to identify clearly and exception shield items’.

For example, for Dual Blades, the Arcane Shade Blade is a completely superior item to the Absolabs Blade in terms of stats, and their tradeability is the same, so only Arcane Shade Blade transfer is supported.

In comparison, for Archmage (F/P), the Red Green Book <Final> is inferior to the Deimos Sage Shield in terms of stats but they are both valuable options due to the difference in tradeability, so both items transfer is supported.

Demon Avenger’s Extreme Force Shield and Ruin Force Shield both support transfer for the same reasons. However, the Astra Infusion skill can only be used if you transfer a Ruin Force Shield.

For Zero, transfer is not supported as they did not previously have an enhanceable subweapon.

Heroes, Paladins, and Soul Masters that have a Genesis Saber/Axe/Hammer or Destiny Saber/Axe/Hammer

  • For these jobs, only the characters that have chosen the one-handed Genesis weapon or Destiny weapon can acquire the Astra Sacred Aegis or Astra Topaz Aegis.
  • For regular subweapons, Fearless Kite Shield, Blue Hoplon, Violet Hoplon, Green Hoplon, Blue Dragon Shield, and the Timeless Kite Shield, you can transfer the potential and additional potential to the Astra Sacred Aegis or Astra Topaz Aegis for 1b mesos, the same as regular jobs.
  • When transferring the Deimos Warrior Shield, the item’s Star Force enhancement levels will be transferred to the Astra Sacred Aegis or Astra Topaz Aegis, but there will be a different transfer cost applied.

    • If the item score is 135 points or higher, the resulting item’s Star Force enhancement stage will be adjusted to 22 stars.

※ The transfer cost will be set to 10b.

  • If you transfer a 12 star Fearless Prelude or Deimos Sage Shield with a certain level of stats applied through Miraculous Equipment Enhancement Scrolls, the Star Force enhancement stage will be adjusted higher.
    • The items’ stats (except for potential and additional potential) will be converted into item points.
    • INT is valued at 1 point and magic attack is valued at 3 points.
    • The item score criteria and detailed adjustment stages for each item are as follows.
    • The transfer cost will be set to 1b.

※ Example 1: A 12 star Fearless Prelude with Miraculous Equipment Enhancement Scrolls applied with INT +121 and Magic Attack +100 has an item score of 421 points. This is higher than the minimum item score of 410 points, so the Astra subweapon will be adjusted to 25 stars when it is transferred.

※ Example 1: A 12 star Deimos Sage Shield with Miraculous Equipment Enhancement Scrolls applied with INT +118 and Magic Attack +79 has an item score of 355 points. This is lower than the minimum item score of 370 points, so the Astra subweapon’s Star Force will not be adjusted.

  • Fearless Preludes and Deimos Sage Shields with Miraculous Equipment Enhancement Scrolls applied with less than 12 stars, as well as Fearless Preludes with regular Star Force applied will be transferred the same way as regular subweapons.

Shadower

  • For regular subweapons and Timeless Wrist, you can transfer the potential and additional potential to the Astra Bane Shield for 1b mesos, the same as regular jobs.
  • When transferring the Deimos Darkness Shield, the item’s Star Force enhancement levels will be transferred to the Astra Bane Shield, but there will be a different transfer cost applied.

※ Example 1: A 12 star Fearless Wrist with Miraculous Equipment Enhancement Scrolls applied with LUK +121 and Attack +113 has an item score of 460 points. This is higher than the minimum item score of 410 points, so the Astra subweapon will be adjusted to 25 stars when it is transferred.

※ Example 1: A 12 star Deimos Darkness Shield with Miraculous Equipment Enhancement Scrolls applied with LUK +104 and Attack +80 has an item score of 344 points. This is lower than the minimum item score of 370 points, so the Astra subweapon’s Star Force will not be adjusted.

  • Fearless Wrists and Deimos Darkness Shields with Miraculous Equipment Enhancement Scrolls applied with less than 12 stars, as well as Fearless Wrists with regular Star Force applied will be transferred the same way as regular subweapons.

Developer Notes:

When using shields that have already been Star Force enhanced, their Star Force enhancement stages will be transferred. However, an additional cost will be applied to account for the difference in cost due to level limit and cost of destruction recovery.

In addition, shields can have Miraculous Equipment Enhancement Scrolls applied to them, which makes those shields have higher value. Items with MEE scrolls applied are harder to determine scroll enhancement changes, and they can also be mixed with regular Equipment Enhancement Scrolls which can lead to significant differences in stats and value even with the same number of stars.

Therefore, the Star Force adjustments for these items will be based on a new standard called ‘item score’. ‘Item score’ is calculated by excluding the effects acquired from potential/additional potential, assigning 1 point per main stat and 3 points per attack/magic attack, then adding them together.

Items that exceed the minimum item score will have their Star Force upgraded to a level appropriate to their value when transferred. Items with insufficient item scores will not receive Star Force adjustments. As of now, only 10 out of 276 items will not receive adjustments. The majority of equipment will be adjusted as intended.

The transfer rules related to MEE Scrolls will only apply to the current end-game equipment (Deimos Sage Shield, Deimos Darkness Shield, Fearless Prelude, Fearless Wrist). Deimos Warrior Shield and Fearless Kite Shield, which are not considered end-game equipment and have relatively low value are not included in the Star Force adjustments, and they will be transferred with the same rules as regular subweapons.

Dual Blade

  • You can only transfer the Arcane Shade Blade.

※ However, the 15 star Arcane Shade Blade provided from events cannot be transferred.

  • When transferring the Arcane Shade Blade, the item’s Star Force enhancement levels will be transferred to the Astra Blade, but there will be a different transfer cost applied.

※ 27 star or higher Arcane Shade Blades will be handled the same way as 26 star Arcane Shade Blades.

  • If you transfer an Arcane Shade Blade with a certain level of stats applied through scroll enhancements, you will be provided additional Astra Blade Only Attack Scrolls.
    • The stats applied through scroll enhancements will be converted into item points.
    • LUK is valued at 1 point and attack is valued at 3 points.
    • If the item score is 324 points or higher, you will be provided 10 Astra Blade Only Attack Scrolls.

Developer Notes:

When using Blades that have already been Star Force enhanced, their Star Force enhancement stages will be transferred. However, an additional cost will be applied to account for the difference in cost due to level limit and cost of destruction recovery.

Please take note that until now, the highest Star Force stage applied to an Arcane Shade Blade is 26 stars, so the Star Force transfer will only be supported up to that number of stars.

Information

Pristine, Tender Illusion
Unveiled Deformity
Rest of the Broken Truth

Radiant Malefic Star can only be entered in a party of 1~3 players.

  • Normal Mode:
    • Level: 280
    • HP: 4.698Q
    • Authentic Force: 400
    • Power Crystal Price: 658m
  • Hard Mode:
    • Level: 280
    • HP: 14.74Q
    • Authentic Force: 550
    • Power Crystal Price: 2.819b

Radiant Malefic Star is similar to Jin Hilla in that while it only has one form, as its HP is lowered, it unlocks more attacks. In addition, there are two ‘dimensions’ you can move between, illusion and reality, each with different attacks and mechanics.

  • Phase 1: 100%~80% HP
  • Phase 2: 40%~79% HP
  • Phase 3: 0%~39% HP

When you enter the boss, in the preparation room, there will be a special altar that you can press Harvest/NPC Chat on. Only one person in the party can do so (in a solo, it will always be yourself), and the person that does will become Awakened, allowing them to swap between illusion/reality in the boss and interact with the Illusion’s Essence cores that spawn in the fight (will explain a little more later).

The preparation room also has the Unfinished Journal NPC which you can talk to to read the thoughts of an unlucky sailor that previously faced off against Radiant Malefic Star. It serves as a quick guide to the boss’ mechanics.

The boss has a regular Death Count system (5 per person) but also the Predation Value. If this value reaches 1000, you will instantly fail the boss regardless of your remaining Death Count. The value will increase from being hit by certain attacks and can be decreased by interacting with some of the mechanics.

The timer underneath is the countdown to when the boss will forcefully swap you between illusion and reality. You will begin the fight in the illusion map.

The main mechanic of this boss is the Illusion Magic/Illusion Detect gauge. The gold circle is Illusion Magic, and it starts from 1000. The higher the Illusion Magic gauge, the boss’ attacks will be stronger and additional patterns will be unlocked.

The center orb is the Illusion Detect gauge, and it can go up to 1000. If you hover over the Illusion Detect, you can see the boss’ Illusion Magic cooldown.

When you are hit by the boss’ attacks, the Illusion Detect cooldown will go up, delaying it. If the cooldown reaches 0, the boss will cast a special attack that creates an Illusion’s Essence. The awakened party member can interact with it to reduce the Illusion Magic gauge by 200.

The awakened party member can also press Harvest/NPC Chat to use the Illusion Projection/Reality Alert skill, which lets you freely swap between illusion and reality.

In the reality map, the boss will have more attacks and will attack more frequently. However, based on your Illusion Magic gauge, you can increase your final damage by up to 30% at the cost of making the boss stronger. In the reality map, when the boss casts a special attack that creates an Illusion’s Essence, you can choose to interact with one of two cores. The left core will decrease the Illusion Magic gauge (lowering your final damage) while the right core will increase the gauge (increasing your final damage)

Therefore, Radiant Malefic Star is a boss that is focused on risk/reward. You can choose to stay in the illusion map as long as possible for fairly simple boss patterns with no increased damage, or stay in the reality map to increase your final damage at the cost of making the boss stronger. Of course, there’s some more complexity but I didn’t want to write a full guide. You can read more details on the Namu Wiki page.
