Maple Now (May 7, 2026) – MapleStory Movie & Summer Showcase Date Announced
This Maple Now was last week (the official server patch is tomorrow) but it’s small enough that I can just cover it very briefly. It was mostly covering the new events in this patch (very little actual content) but at the end, there were two special announcements!
Events

- New Event Boss: Jin
- The third part of the collaboration with Jin.
- It is a level 260 boss that you can fight in a party of 1-3 players.
- Jin’s most important focus when suggesting this boss was that he wanted it to be clearable by all players, no matter their level of strength.
- The patterns are based off of classic MapleStory skills, as Jin has been playing the game for a long time.
- As you fight Jin, you can collect Maple Leaves that increase your final damage. But if you are hit by his attacks, you’ll drop them. Weaker players can focus on collecting more leaves to get more damage.
- The rewards from this boss include the following. Other than the first two, they are tradeable.
- 2 Sol Erda (guaranteed drop)
- 20 Sol Erda Fragments (guaranteed drop)
- Magnificent Maple Warrior Jin Soul (Note: this was replaced with the Magnificent Dragon Roar Soul before the release in the official servers. They posted a notice about it on the homepage, they didn’t state a clear reason but it may be some sort of contract issue with Jin’s label)
- Illusion Ring: Giant Body
- Illusion Ring: Giant Head
- You’re Above My Head
- Me Behind Me
- Colossal Sword
- Colossal Hand Axe
- Colossal Wooden Club

- Maple Yut
- The Maple Yut minigame is returning, and this time, you can play it at the same time as doing other things in the game (such as grinding, while you’re in the sauna, or just in town).
- This is a continuation of the functional test with the Maple Monsters minigame in the previous patch.
- The way that people are playing MapleStory has changed gradually over time. Previously, grinding was a more intense experience where you didn’t want to get distracted and couldn’t really do anything else at the same time. Now, it’s pretty hands-off and there are other sources of experience other than hunting (like the sauna). They realize that they need to introduce new features to adapt to this and expand the gameplay experience.
- This is the groundwork for doing this. The next challenge will be to decide what kind of content to include, but for now, things like minigames seem to be the most appropriate.

- World’s Best Punch King Season 4
- It’s been exactly one year since the last season.
- For this Punch King, you just need to defeat a single monster (unlike previously where there were multiple levels) to make it more accurate.

- Reverse Dimensional Tower
- The Dimensional Tower returns, with a special twist this time, you’ll need to go from the top to the bottom. There’s fall damage and if you lose all of your HP, you’ll start over from the beginning.
- Maple Point Shop
- This is a new type of event that is kind of a new system at the same time. It has the same intention as the Meso Market, which is to stimulate the exchange between meso and Maple Points.
- It is designed to give another consumption method for Maple Points.
- You might think the idea of trading meso for Maple Points or vice versa is simple but it actually is quite difficult in terms of logic and execution. That’s why this is just an initial test with a limited number of items.
- You can buy the following items.
- Mechaberry Farm Entry Ticket (10k MP) [limit of 2 per week]
- Sol Erda (2k MP) [limit of 5 per week]
New Content
- Path of Challenges
- This is a new jump quest in the Grandis area featuring Cernium.
- You can complete it to get cosmetic rewards and furniture.
- Quest Dialogue Auto-Progress
- For quests that provide the Skip Cutscenes feature, you can now also turn on the Auto Progress option to automatically go to the next dialogue when its finished. You can use this to watch the story like a movie instead of having to hold down spacebar.
- Skill Changes
- Most of the changes in this patch are things like bug fixes.
- For some jobs (like Night Walker), after the addition of the Skill Acceleration system for Origin skills, it was more beneficial to remove some skills from the sequence and use them separately to deal more damage. This doesn’t align with the intentions of the Skill Sequence system and it’s not particularly enjoyable in terms of combat either. Therefore, some changes were made so that these skills can be included in the sequence as intended.
MapleStory Theatrical Animation: Dear My Hero
- The animated movie will be released in Lotte cinemas all across Korea on June 14, 2026.
- It has a running time of about 30 minutes.
- They’ve made a lot of animated videos before but they’ve been on a shorter side and mostly just promotional videos. This is the first time doing a proper narrative-based animation.
- They wanted a more mainstream and accessible form of MapleStory that more people could interact with.
- The main character is a regular Cygnus Knight, and you can see the final battle with the Black Mage through their eyes.
- If they sell 10 million tickets, Changseop will dance on stream for everyone 🙂
MapleStory Overdrive
Beyond the changes made until now…
- The 2026 summer showcase, Overdrive, will take place on June 13, 2026 at the Olympic Park Handball Stadium.
- As always, the name and images are meant to represent the update itself. Overdrive is a word that conveys the feelings of acceleration or breaking through limits. The content, system improvements, and changes prepared for this update align with that.
Summer Countdown Event
- The Summer Countdown event will run for 7 weeks, but the May update is only 5 weeks long. This means you have an extra 2 weeks after the summer patch starts to still complete this event, for those players who start playing the game later.
- However, the countdown gifts on the left can only be claimed before the summer patch starts.
- The summer gifts in the middle can only be claimed after the summer patch starts, and you can see that it’s entirely Sol Erda and Sol Erda Fragments (total of 10 Sol Erda and 300 Sol Erda Fragments). Aren’t they always in short supply? The other items that used to be provided here can be taken care of in other sources.
- The Summer Power Up on the right side are temp stats that will expire when the summer patch starts.
- There’s only 15 days of attendance, but the event lasts 7 weeks. After you finish the attendance check, you can defeat 10k mobs per day to receive a Nightmare’s Echo (booster item from the Lucid event).
