Then they talked about the content which was available in previous testing phases, including the level 30 cap, the boss Devorak, the party quest Poison Cave, Shadow World, guild battles, and the customizing system.

    • guifel
      May 30, 2015 at 6:19 am

You’ll need a korean cellphone at the name of the kssn you provide.

So yes, only korean people can play.

      • May 31, 2015 at 3:10 pm

Nah m8,it didn’t ask me for a korean phone,o verified through email,my character is just waiting to be played

I believe nexon said that was a glitch on their part and they fixed it. So you do need cell verification now to play :p

hello! does anyone know how i can get my hands on a kMS account? do i need a VPN?

  12. May 29, 2015 at 12:42 pm

And Europe?.. Man.. This is insane.. why do we have to wait so long? With Maplestory 1 it made absolutely no sence to me that while Korea was ahead years worth of content, Europe had to wait like.. 3-5 years or so to catch up. It’s just insane. I hope they manage it better this time around and also not screw up the game or costumer service. ‘Cause with Maplestory 1 my friends and I got zero respect and help from the Customer Service of Nexon. A friend of mine send a heap of tickets regarding a false hellban, got response but never results. It has been over a span of 4 years, and no help was lended. Nexon has to earn their respect with this one. It’s as simple as that. I don’t trust it as is. Even though I am hyped for this game, which will probably come out when I’m a grandpa.

      May 30, 2015 at 2:03 am

That was a long time ago with Maplestory 1. Now technology is moving faster and faster, it won’t take much longer. < 2 years.

      May 30, 2015 at 7:33 am

You do realize that in order for them to bring it over, they have to translate everything in game into english. Not to mention they would need to get voice actors along with other changes that happen game to game. As for why the European version had to wait so long my only guess is getting servers running in your region. Plus the wait may not even be that long now seeing as Korean updates with Maple 1 are happening within months before coming over to GMS so….yeah.

        May 30, 2015 at 7:48 am

translating isnt much of an issue. like people who translate manga or anime for online viewers, it doesnt take that much time, and they probably have a team of translators for that. and hiring VAs is not that much of an issue either. all in all just translating the game would take about 3 or 4 months if they do it on normal pace. the bigger issue is really making servers for the game.

      • June 2, 2015 at 1:14 pm

As a forthcoming voice actor, I don’t really see the issue with that. There’s plenty of actors and plenty to be willing to do the job right. Now I’ve known that translating wasn’t really been their strongest side with new patches, but years? I’ll have to be patient anyhow. Thanks for your reply.

It made me almost want Nexon to not release MapleStory2 for North America because of all the people who were whining about how MS2 was a “Minecraft ripoff”… but now my faith in the community is restored 😛

  15. May 30, 2015 at 5:11 am

    Ugh, no global release.

Hey max,do you know if they’re gonna block non-korean ips?
If they don’t then i’m set

      June 1, 2015 at 6:06 pm

I doubt it, the testing phases didn’t and neither does regular kMS.

      • Sean
        June 1, 2015 at 7:54 pm

Actually, KMS does have an ip block, at least it does from my experiences. I couldn’t get onto KMS until I figured out how to do a VPN. Also, I sent in a 1:1 customer question in Nexon, and they told me they’re going to apply the ip ban upon full release.

          • Sean
            June 2, 2015 at 6:35 pm

            This was my question:
“I have to use GMS because KMS has an IP block.

If MapleStory2 will get the same block in the future, when will it be applied? During the last CBT I’ve seen someone living in Canada uploading videos to YouTube, so I would assume the block wasn’t applied then. Then will it be applied during the Final Test? Or will it be applied upon official release? Or perhaps after it lands in North America? (I experienced much inconvenience due to GMS being 6 months late in updates, so I don’t want to have to go through the same thing in MS2 as well ;_:)

I noticed I can access games like KartRider, Bubble Fighter, and Crazy Arcade. Is that because those games haven’t landed on North America?”

This is the translation of the answer I got:

            “Hello. This is MapleStory2.

MapleStory2 is currently based on Korean service.

Although we do not plan to apply an IP block during the Final Test, please be aware you might experience inconveniences due to your local Internet corporation’s possible blocking of Korean access.

Also, as you know, Nexon does not apply IP blocks to games that have not landed on North America (in my original question I mentioned KartRider which does not have North American service and therefore doesn’t have an IP block). However, please know that MapleStory2 will get an IP block if it is to land in North America in the future.

Since foreign IP block applies to all Nexon games, I’m sorry to inform you that we cannot make individual exceptions. (_ _)

            Thank you.
            Have a great day.^^”

The screenshot of the actual conversation: http://i.imgur.com/BxE6hNs.png

If you don’t understand Korean you’ll just have to take my word for it that I didn’t make up the translations.

            June 2, 2015 at 6:37 pm

Well, I did make one error in my original comment… oops. I said MapleStory2 will have an IP block upon full release, while it’s actually upon GMS2 release. But either way, I want to keep playing KMS2, and I doubt you’d want to lose your characters that you made on KMS2 before GMS2 release.

Thx for all your dedication to MS, your guides and updates helped a ton ^_^ Feeling so nostalgic right now, seeing the new developments for MS2 and the focus on community, mainly because that was a forgotten focus for the original game. Started playing since I was 12 and now I’m 17, gonna be excited to play MS2 but also embarrassed if all the other gamers around me are 12-14 xD
