Another Test World patch has been released, with more changes to many jobs! They even included the long forgotten warrior of light, Mikhail…! EDIT: Finally done!
Also, this update has been named MapleStory Reboot and they said it is a large summer update which is unheard of in MapleStory (sure…). The first patch will be coming on June 25! This gives Nexon a bit less than two weeks to finalize these job changes.
Before I get to the skill changes, there were a few changes to the Star Force enhancement system.
- The cost of the 10th~14th stars has been decreased.
- In order to reduce the risks of destruction when using Star Force enhancements, Item Traces will now store a destroyed item’s enhancement count (up to 12 stars).
- The above changes do not apply to Superior item enhancements.
Skill Changes
Hero
Hero has different skills and damage calculation procedures compared to other characters, so we adjusted Chance Attack. We also changed Combo Attack’s effect to be more stylish.
Iron Body: duration has been decreased from 300 seconds to 200 seconds
Weapon Mastery: in addition to existing effects, Weapon Mastery now gives 5% damage if you are equipping an Axe
Rage: duration has been increased from 180 seconds to 200 seconds, cast delay has been decreased from 1920ms to 1080ms
Weapon Booster: duration has been increased from 180 seconds to 200 seconds, cast delay has been decreased
Combo Attack: effect has been changed
Chance Attack: damage calculation order has been adjusted
Enrage: duration has been removed (now an on/off skill)
Rage Uprising: cast delay has been decreased from 2520ms to 2010ms
Paladin
In the previous test server patch, we gave a cooldown to Blast so that Paladin’s combat pattern would be different. However this cooldown had adverse effects so we will be removing it.
Iron Body: duration has been decreased from 300 seconds to 200 seconds
Blast: buff duration has been increased from 10 seconds to 60 seconds, damage has been decreased from 488% to 318%, cooldown has been removed
Dark Knight
Dark Knights have a narrow attack range so we adjusted Dark Impale’s range accordingly. In addition, although it has a small usage window, Gungnir Descent has a relatively low number of hits per second so we increased its number of hits.
Iron Body: duration has been decreased from 300 seconds to 200 seconds
Weapon Mastery: in addition to existing effects, Weapon Mastery now gives 2 attack speed boost if you are equipping a Spear
Weapon Booster: cast delay has been decreased
Iron Will: duration has been decreased from 240 seconds to 200 seconds
Hyper Body: duration has been decreased from 300 seconds to 200 seconds
Cross Over Chain: duration has been increased from 180 seconds to 200 seconds, cast delay has been decreased from 1260ms to 1080ms
Dark Impale: attack range has been changed to match its effect
Gungnir Descent: damage has been decreased from 312% to 250%, number of hits has been increased from 8 to 10
Sacrifice: cast delay has been decreased from 2280ms to 1080ms
Dark Synthesis: damage has been increased from 300% to 330%, number of monsters hit has been increased from 8 to 10, cooldown has been increased from 8 seconds to 10 seconds
Dark Thirst: HP healed has been changed from 100% of damage done to monsters to 6% of your maximum HP, attack boost has been increased from 60 to 80
Archmage (Fire/Poison)
After the last test server patch where we increased the cooldown of Mist Eruption, we found that Archmages still had very high damage. Therefore by slightly increasing the cast delay of Paralyze and reducing the duration of Ignite, we have slightly reduced Archmage’s damage.
Ignite: duration has been decreased from 6 seconds to 4 seconds
Elemental Reset: cast delay has been decreased
Paralyze: cast delay has been increased from 800ms to 870ms
Archmage (Ice/Lightning)
Archmages had high damage over time with the use of Chain Lightning and Freezing Effect. In order to reduce their damage without changing their attack pattern, we have reduced Freezing Effect’s damage boost and increased the delay of Chain Lightning slightly.
Magic Guard: duration has been decreased from 600 seconds to 240 seconds
Magic Booster: duration has been increased from 200 seconds to 240 seconds, cast delay has been decreased from 1500ms to 990ms
Meditation: duration has been increased from 200 seconds to 240 seconds
Freezing Effect: damage boost per Freeze counter has been decreased from 8% to 6%
Elemental Adapting: cast delay has been decreased from 2160ms to 1080ms
Elemental Reset: duration has been decreased from 300 seconds to 240 seconds, cast delay has been decreased from 1500ms to 990ms
Thunder Storm: cast delay has been decreased from 2760ms to 1050ms
Chain Lightning: cast delay has been increased from 780ms to 840ms, hit sound has been changed, the hit sound and effect will now be played for every hit instead of once per cast
Blizzard: cast delay has been decreased from 1710ms to 1140ms
Elquines: duration has been increased from 160 seconds to 240 seconds
Freezing Breath: this skill can now be affected by Combat Orders
Lightning Sphere: damage has been decreased from 700% to 300%, number of hits has been increased from 1 to 7, finish damage has been increased from 1000% to 1500%, cooldown has been decreased from 90 seconds to 60 seconds, this skill no longer activates Damage Reflect
Bishop
Bishops use Angel Ray continuously as their main attack and it heals even more than Heal so we have decreased its HP healing abilities slightly. In addition, Big Bang’s effect has been changed.
Heal: damage boost from debuff has been decreased from 20% to 10%, debuff duration has been decreased from 6 seconds to 2 seconds
Big Bang: effect has been changed
Angel Ray: HP healed has been changed from 90% of your damage to 15% of your (or your party member’s) maximum HP
Vengeance of Angel: Angel Ray’s HP healing reduction has been changed to apply to its new maximum HP healing
Bowmaster
Although Bowmaster has many hits per second, their actual damage was very low. Overall, we increased some of their numbers.
Archer Mastery: the ability to use skills without arrows has been removed
Bow Booster: duration has been increased from 180 seconds to 300 seconds, cast delay has been decreased
Soul Arrow: Bow: duration has been increased from 180 seconds to 300 seconds
Quiver Cartridge: Poison Arrows’ DoT damage has been increased from 90% to 150% , Drain Arrows’ HP healed has been changed from 20% of your damage to 3% of your maximum HP
Marksmanship: damage boost has been increased from 15% to 35%
Arrow Blaster: installed Arrow Blaster’s damage has been increased from 125% to 140%, installed Arrow Blaster’s duration has been decreased from 30 seconds to 15 seconds, this skill now has a cooldown of 30 seconds, this skill no longer activates Damage Reflect
Hurricane: damage has been increased from 300% to 330%
Uncountable Arrows: damage has been decreased from 380% to 350%, number of hits has been increased from 4 to 5
Bow Expert: attack boost has been increased from 30 to 60
Illusion Step: duration has been increased from 240 seconds to 300 seconds
Armor Piercing: chance to activate has been increased from 10% to 20%, maximum number of stacks has been decreased from 10 to 5, extra damage based on enemies’ defense has been increased from 100% to 400%
Wound Shot: number of hits has been increased from 4 to 6
Advanced Quiver: Poison Arrows’ DoT damage has been increased from 110% to 220%, Drain Arrows’ HP healed has been changed from 30% of your damage to 5% of your maximum HP, cast delay has been removed
Preparation: this skill can no longer be debuffed
Marksman
Marksman’s Sniping – Cooltime Reduce’s level requirement was too high and created a high barrier of entry to the job. Therefore, we have swapped its level requirements with Sniping – Limit Canceller.
Archer Mastery: the ability to use skills without arrows has been removed
Crossbow Booster: duration has been increased from 180 seconds to 300 seconds, cast delay has been decreased
Soul Arrow: Crossbow: duration has been increased from 180 seconds to 300 seconds

Night Lord
Night Lord’s Showdown Challenge’s extra experience and drop rate effect gave it a large advantage over other jobs while hunting to level up. Therefore, we have lowered its effectiveness while buffing Sudden Raid and Bleeding Toxin a bit.
Haste: cast delay has been decreased from 1500ms to 990ms
Spirit Throwing: duration has been increased from 180 seconds to 200 seconds, cast delay has been decreased from 1500ms to 990ms
Shadow Partner: duration has been increased from 180 seconds to 200 seconds
Sudden Raid: cast delay has been decreased from 3150ms to 900ms, this skill will no longer activate Damage Reflect
Showdown Challenge: extra experience and item drop rate has been decreased from 30% to 10%
Purge Area: cast delay has been removed
Dark Serenity: duration has been increased from 180 seconds to 200 seconds, cast delay has been decreased from 1500ms to 990ms
Four Seasons: cooldown has been increased from 8 seconds to 10 seconds
Bleeding Toxin: DoT damage has been increased from 190% to 1000%, this skill can no longer be debuffed
Shadower
Shadower’s Boomerang Step has a small attack range and Assassinate has a low number of hits per second so we increased both of those. We also increased some of their skills’ effectiveness.

Meso Guard: duration has been increased from 190 seconds to 200 seconds, cast delay has been decreased from 1500ms to 990ms

Shadower Instinct: duration has been increased from 180 seconds to 200 seconds
Veil of Shadows: cooldown has been decreased from 90 seconds to 30 seconds
Dual Blade
Dual Blades were penalized greatly if they died while Final Cut’s damage boost was active so we changed it. In addition, we increased Sudden Raid’s utility a little bit.
Karma: duration has been increased from 180 seconds to 200 seconds, cast delay has been decreased from 1500ms to 990ms
Sudden Raid: cast delay has been decreased from 3150ms to 900ms, this skill will no longer activate Damage Reflect, this skill now decreases Final Cut’s cooldown by 20% when used
Final Cut: the damage boost no longer depends on your charge time
Thorns Effect: duration has been decreased from 210 seconds to 200 seconds, cast delay has been decreased from 1500ms to 990ms
Asura: damage has been decreased from 500% to 380%, number of hits has been increased from 3 to 4, intermittent error where this skill would activate Damage Reflect has been fixed
Viper
Viper needed some buffs to make up for the fact that it is a job which is always high risk due to its melee attacks. In a previous test server update, we added the ability to use Double Spiral during other skills but removed it because there were many fatal errors. This time, we would like to fix the problem by bringing it back and increasing the effectiveness of Nautilus with a new effect.
Mental Clarity: cast delay has been decreased from 1500ms to 990ms
Knuckle Booster: duration has been decreased from 200 seconds to 180 seconds
Double Spiral: this skill can now be used during other skills but if you do, it will go on cooldown for 10 seconds, this skill now passively increases Screw Punch’s damage by 100%
Lucky Dice: cast delay has been decreased from 1500ms to 990ms
Willow Defensive: cast delay has been decreased from 1500ms to 990ms
Battleship Nautilus: damage has been increased from 520% to 1020%, cast delay has been decreased from 3420ms to 900ms, this skill no longer activates Damage Reflect, cooldown has been changed to 60 seconds at all levels, after using this skill your attacks will have a 50% chance to have an additional hit of 200% damage for 40 seconds
Time Leap: cooldown has been decreased from 1500 seconds to 180 seconds, cast delay has been decreased from 1440ms to 1080ms, this skill is no longer affected by cooldown resets, while this skill is on cooldown you cannot be affected by another Time Leap
Counter Attack: now passively increases Screw Punch and Double Spiral’s damage by 100%
Double Lucky Dice: duration has been decreased from 200 seconds to 180 seconds, cooldown has been decreased from 200 seconds to 180 seconds, cast delay has been decreased from 1500ms to 990ms
Vipercision: cast delay has been decreased from 1500ms to 990ms
Wind Booster: duration has been decreased from 300 seconds to 180 seconds
Captain
Captain’s utility skills cause a high penalty when they die due to Summon Crew and Lucky Dice, so we reduced their cooldowns. We also adjusted some of their numbers upward and improved on the low utility Nautilus skill.

Summon Crew: cast delay has been decreased from 1440ms to 900ms

Cannon Booster: duration has been decreased from 200 seconds to 180s econds
Lucky Dice: cast delay has been decreased from 1500ms to 990ms
Monkey Furious: debuff duration has been increased from 20 seconds to 30 seconds
Oak Barrel Roulette: duration has been decreased from 240 seconds to 180 seconds
Battleship Nautilus: damage has been increased from 520% to 1020%, cast delay has been decreased from 3420ms to 1020ms, this skill no longer activates Damage Reflect, this skill now decreases Oak Barrel Roulette and Lucky Dice’s cooldowns by 50%% when used
Hyper Monkey Magic: cast delay has been decreased from 1350ms to 1080ms
Overburning Cannon: in addition to existing effects, Overburning Cannon now increases your attack speed by 1 stage

Mikhail
Mikhail’s battle pattern was overly simplistic. By adding new skills and changing the numbers of others, we would like to create a new pattern matching a knight that uses his shield.
Beginner
NEW! Journey Home: Borrow Shinsoo’s aura to return to the side of the Empress. There is a cooldown of 30 minutes.
NEW! Elemental Expert: Your mastery over the elements increases your attack and magic attack by 10%.
- This skill is unlocked after your fourth job advancement.
Guardian of Light: Stance effect has been removed, Guardian of Light now creates a shield for 15/30 seconds which absorbs the damage of up to 3/6 attacks (for % HP attacks, their damage will be reduced by 10%/20%) and increases your damage by 15%/20%. The shield (and the damage boost) will disappear after it absorbs 3/6 attacks. There is a cooldown of 180 seconds. (max level: 2) (Link Skill)
Will of the Alliance: this skill is now unlocked by the quest “The Alliance’s Birth” instead of through a quest at level 200
1st Job
NEW! Royal Guard: Using the Soul Shield, completely nullify enemy attacks’ damage and counterattack. (max level: 1)
- Level 1: After being used, stand your ground and nullify and counterattack the first enemy attack within a short period of time (< 1 second). If you successfully guard an attack, you will gain invincibility for 2 seconds and your attack will be increased for 10 seconds. Consecutive successful guards will refresh this attack buff and it will also increase your counterattack’s damage and range. This skill has a cooldown of 5 seconds. [1 time] Deal 150% + 3% per character level damage 2 times on up to 6 enemies. 10 attack buff. [2 times] Deal 200% + 3% per character level damage 3 times on up to 7 enemies. 15 attack buff. Rage has been renamed to Cheer: in addition to existing effects, Cheer now gives 20 attack passively

NEW! Advanced Royal Guard: Enhance Royal Guard to allow more consecutive guards with even stronger counterattacks. If you successfully guard 4 times in a row or more, gain the ability to ignore Damage Ignore and Damage Reflect. (max level: 1)
- Level 1: [4 times] Deal 250% + 3% per character level damage 5 times on up to 10 enemies. 30 attack buff. [5 times] Deal 250% + 3% per character level damage 7 times on up to 15 enemies. 45 attack buff.
NEW! Soul Link: Exert a powerful strength to the souls of nearby party members. Party members within range of Soul Link will receive its effects. On/off skill. (max level: 20)
- Level 20: 15 mana per second. [Mikhail] gain 5% damage per party member, every 4 seconds heal 1% of your maximum HP. 20% of the damage your party members would take is redirected to you (this damage can be nullified using Royal Guard). Cygnus Knights: effect has been renewed, this skill is now acquired through a quest and does not require Mastery Books

Soul Master
After removing Soul Master’s ability to ignore elemental resistances, their damage became very low. Therefore, we have increased some of their numbers.
Falling Moon: damage has been increased from 55% to 60%, cast delay has been removed
Rising Sun: damage boost has been increased from 20% to 35%, cast delay has been removed
Unforeseeable: in addition to existing effects, Unforeseeable now increases your damage to bosses by 15%
Flame Wizard
After the last test server patch, Flame Wizard’s damage became very low due to the changes to Orbital Flame. To fix this, we have changed around Orbital Flame’s Hyper skills.
Born Phoenix: duration has been increased from 600 seconds to 1800 seconds, cooldown has been increased from 1200 seconds to 1800 seconds (cooldown is now the same at all levels), HP healed has been increased from 20% to 50%
Orbital Flame – Reinforce has been changed to Orbital Flame – Add Range: Orbital Flame’s range is increased by 100. [required level: 149]
Orbital Flame – Ignore Guard: level requirement has been decreased from level 183 to level 162

Wind Breaker
After removing Wind Breaker’s ability to ignore elemental resistances, their damage became very low. Therefore, we have increased some of their numbers.
Trifling Whim III: activation chance has been increased from 40% to 50%, enhanced activation chance has been increased from 15% to 20%
Bow Expert: boss damage boost has been increased from 35% to 40%
Sky’s Song: damage boost when hitting one enemy has been increased from 10% to 15%
Sky’s Song – Boss Killer: boss damage boost has been increased from 20% to 30%
Night Walker
After reducing Night Walker’s resistance to statuses and elements in the last test server patch, we found it to be too much of a change so we have increased it slightly.
Siphon Vitality – Imbue Body: resistance to statuses and elements boost per stack has been increased from 1% to 2%
Striker
Striker’s combat pattern had many inconveniences associated with its various buffs. Without changing the pattern, we fixed some of these annoyances.
Element: Lightning: Thunder buffs can no longer be debuffed
Typhoon: this skill can no longer be debuffed
Electric Charge: in addition to existing effects, when you use Thunder buffs, this skill’s cooldown will be decreased by 6 seconds
Aran
In the last test server patch, Aran’s utility skills were still under par so we buffed some of them.
Combo Drain: HP healed has been decreased from 4% to 2%
Final Charge: this skill will now move you even if there are no monsters
Final Toss: jump height has been increased
Combo Tempest: command has been removed
Beyonder: 1st attack’s number of hits has been increased from 5 to 6, while casting Beyonder you cannot be knocked back by monsters
Combo Unlimited: in addition to existing effects, Combo Unlimited now gives 10% damage
Evan
Like other resurrection skills, we increased Soul Stone’s cooldown.
Phantom
Like other Drain skills, we updated Phantom’s to use your maximum HP. And like other resurrection skills, we increased the cooldown of Luck of Phantom Thief.
Judgement: Drain Card’s HP healed has been changed from damage done to monsters to 1% of your maximum HP
Luck of Phantom Thief: cooldown has been increased from 600 seconds to 1800 seconds, this skill is no longer affected by cooldown resets
Ultimate Drive: attack delay has been increased from 120ms to 130ms
Rose Carte Finale: explosion damage no longer activates Damage Reflect
EunWol
In order to make Bomb Punch more effective, we have increased its damage.
Bomb Punch: first hit’s damage has been increased from 260% to 300%, second hit’s damage has been increased from 270% to 310%, third hit’s damage has been increased from 280% to 320%, fourth hit’s damage has been increased from 300% to 350%
Demon Slayer
After increasing Cerberus’ cooldown, Demon Slayers found it hard to keep their Demon Force up. Therefore, we have reduced the range of Cerberus but decreased its cooldown. We have also changed Demon Jump’s commands back to how they were before. In order to create a more diverse combat patter, we have made some other adjustments.
Demon Jump: commands have been changed back to what they were originally
Demon Trace: Force consumption has been increased from 10 to 20, cast delay has been increased from 600ms to 750ms
Devil Cry: debuff duration has been increased from 15 seconds to 20 seconds, cooldown has been decreased from 16 seconds to 14 seconds, cooldown reduction if Infinity Force is used has been decreased from 8 seconds to 7 seconds

We reduced Mechanic’s damage in the last test server patch but it is still too high so we have reduced Massive Fire: IRON-B’s number of hits. We also reduced the delays of a couple of skills we missed.

Lucky Dice: cast delay has been decreased from 1500ms to 990ms
Massive Fire: IRON-B: damage has been decreased from 295% to 285%, number of hits has been decreased from 7 to 6

After the last test server patch, Zero’s Time Holding’s ability to reset skill cooldowns became ineffective so Time Distortion and Shadow Rain can once again be reset. Their damage and utility are still high so we have made a few more changes to slightly reduce them.
Rapid Time – Detect: critical chance per stack has been decreased from 3% to 2%
Time Distortion: cooldown has been decreased to 240 seconds, this skill can once again be affected by cooldown resets

What kind of dual blade buff was that? Removing the final cut buff was one of the worst things they have done to dual blades in a long time! We are already outclassed by other classes do they want us to be dragged down into the mud?

A Korean friend told me there was some fix to Hero’s crit damage calculations, but I don’t see it on your list. Did he misunderstand the Chance Attack fix, or did you miss that change in the mass of other changes?
I looked at the patch notes again and there’s nothing about Hero’s critical damage. It might be related to the Chance Attack changes though!

If u really love the job, then stop complaining about nerfs and stuff. Pretty sure nexon has collected enough data to justify the “nerfs”. Look they even provided explanations on why they adjusted some skills. As a wild hunter in mseamyself, i was abit disappointed that anothef bite was nerfed quite badly, but in truth it was too op, and a nerf was neccesary to keep the game in balance. Someone exlain to me about phantom’s ultimate drive.
Intially it was 0.18 seconds 180ms per 2 line to come out.
Then they changed it to 0.12 seconds 120ms per 2 line to come out
And now they said they increase the attack speed to 0.13? Meaning dps will be 0.01 seconds slower? Sounds like a decrease in attack speed to me.

They made it slower by 0.01 seconds for whatever reason.
It went from 120ms -> 130ms.
This is strange as Maplestory uses intervals of 30ms for buff and attack delays…

Yes it does, but it’s glitched right now and you need to have arrows in your inventory to use any skills lol.

Drain arrow cannot be helped since it is the trend to make every recovery skill become %hp recovery instead of hp based on damage.

There is no mention of putting a debuff on monsters… I feel that it’s a great nerf when leveling up because the damage buff will be only used on certain monsters and not applied to all, but the dualies patch was done as a buff. Could you double check? Thanks 😀

Mikhail revamp, there goes one of the last jobs with lasers. I think Buccs are the only ones left. Anyway, these changes aren’t as horrendous as the last one though they’re still not great. Paladin got its Blast back so that’s nice. Corsair buffs are nice but I’m disappointed that dice is the only buff that’s getting equalized. Crew still lasts a minute less than everything else and Octo cannon is still only thirty seconds. And all my mains are, not only still complete shite but two of them got even worse… Fifth job better be fucking amazing to make up for these changes.
Also, you should probably change the text on Phantom’s Mille Aiguilles to “attack speed [DELAY] has been increased from 0.12 seconds to 0.13 seconds” since the attack speed actually got lower.

yea nerf 3rd and 4th job so that you cant properly train anymore and to make some of the skills some bit useful? lol look at this they did the same shit to BaMs in their revamp/devamp lets look at it BaMs only use 1 aura dark aura the other auras make 0 sense now when im bossing i dont even use sweeping staff becasuse of its CD its almost irrelevant being as i forget about it, the attack speed is so slow now that eve after adding decent speed infusion and attack speed +1 to my inner ability its slow ass fuck, the attack range for finishing blow is so short when im fighting gollux i can almost fall into the pores on his face, the damage is so low that even with 280% boss dmg, 92% pdr and 2mil-2mil range i still cant hit max dmg on him with finishing blow, and let us not talk about what is needed to make BaMs get to 2mil-2mil range -_-
5th job was announced 2 years ago, when Zero first came out. But, we haven’t heard any talks about it for a very long time. If this is the case, hopefully all the skills that were nerfed are justified by them being replaced by better ones on the next tier.
Wikis can be edited by anyone, they’re not a reliable source for upcoming updates.
That being said, 5th job is probably in development and has been since they announced it. it’s a ton of work for Nexon now that we have 30+ jobs and each of them needs their own unique skills and animations, not to mention a new area and story line together with balancing issues. Everyone should just be patient 🙂
but max if they would at least give us a little information or even a little assurance that 5th job is in the making we would at least not hate these updates/ changes to our play style / damage output

as a lvl 224 bowmaster im really upset with the 15second cooldown on the blaster turrets
it takes away the whole efficiency of being a bowmaster since the att speed already got nerfed so hard that no player could get it back up by using the att speed inner ability+decent speed infusion+monster park extreme green potions

I like the dmg increase but we’ll have to see how much difference that makes cause it takes 20k+ dex clean to even do caps for bowmaster which is hell compare to other jobs.
I love the changes to aran for the most part, yet the one thing they debuffed will make the aran class crash and burn. It is already a fairly underplayed classes but the mega debuff to combo drain to 2% of hp will cripple Aran’s survivability. Good luck at Future Perion and SDH,etc with arans low health. The change makes it impossible to heal quickly enough

WTF NEXON. Angel ray going from 90% heal>15% heal. First you put a cooldown on heal and dispel, now this! You basically destroyed bishops in terms of support and attacking! I hope you revert these changes back to normal as this is just gonna kill us. Take out the cooldowns and give our angel ray’s 90% healing back!
Also give bishops more lines on Big Bang (like 6 lines) as they are complete crap as well as lowering cd on heavens door as 180 seconds is horrendously long. Lower it to 120 or 90 seconds please. I mained a Bishop on GMS and I am gonna be disappointed if these nerfs to bishops are finalized. Please change it back!
