kMSt ver. 1.2.013 – Character Balancing Pt. 4!
A fourth patch has been released to the test server, with a few more skill changes! Seeing as the patch will be coming to the real server tomorrow, this is very likely to be the last set of changes, unless they sneak some in with the real patch.
Ryude’s Sword‘s chance of giving 1 extra hit to an attack has been increased from 50% to 70%.
Skill Changes
You can see the previous balancing patches here, here, and here. Please note that the changes in this post are in addition to the previous changes. As a reminder, here are Nexon’s goals for this balancing update.
- Jobs with low combat efficiency had it increased while jobs with high combat efficiency had it decreased.
- To the best of our ability, changes are being made without affecting each job’s characteristics and fun.
- Utility ability adjustments
- Jobs with multiple utility based skills have had their effectiveness and cooldowns adjusted.
- Draining skills will now be based off of your character’s maximum HP instead of the damage dealt to monsters.
- Binding skill abilities and binding skill resistances have been changed to follow the same logic. (I believe this means there are no longer different ‘types’ of binds to disallow stacking)
- Jobs with a low number of utility based skills have had their effectiveness increased.
- Combat pattern improvements
- Some jobs’ combat patterns have been changed slightly.
- Many cooldowns have been adjusted to create equality.
- The performance differences between weapons for jobs which can use more than one have been mitigated.
- Inconvenience improvements
- Buff skills’ casting delays have been decreased.
- Jobs’ buff skills have had their durations normalized.
- Skill damage increases’ text explanations clarifications
- Skills that increase damage, increase attack, or both have had their descriptions clarified. (note: this is probably only an issue in Korean because the words for damage/attack have been used in place of each other sometimes)
- Skills that increase damage additively will now state ‘%p damage increase’, skills that increase damage multiplicatively will now state ‘% damage increase’, skills that increase your damage multiplicatively but are multiplied last will now state ‘% final damage increase’.
- ‘Damage increase when attacking bosses’ has been renamed to ‘Damage increase when attacking boss monsters’.
Final Attack Skills’ Logic Changes
In some situations, Final Attack skills would not activate correctly, especially when it is triggered multiple times in a short amount of time. After the addition of the Battle Analysis system, our development team which was previously unaware of the issue found out and promptly fixed it. There may still be some errors so please contact us if a similar situation occurs.

Meteor: intermittent error where this skill’s extra attack while on cooldown would not activate has been fixed
Blizzard: intermittent error where this skill’s extra attack while on cooldown would not activate has been fixed
Dark Genesis: intermittent error where this skill’s extra attack while on cooldown would not activate has been fixed
Battleship Nautilus: intermittent error where this skill’s extra attack would not activate has been fixed
Captain Dignity: intermittent error where this skill would not activate has been fixed
Dragon Sparking: intermittent error where this skill would not activate has been fixed
Noire Carte: intermittent error where this skill would not activate has been fixed
Enhanced Exceed: intermittent error where this skill would not activate has been fixed
Dark Knight
Dark Knight’s drain skills’ effectiveness have been raised in order to take full advantage of Cross Over Chain’s damage boost.
Lord of Darkness: chance to heal has been increased from 20% to 100%, HP healed has been decreased from 10% max HP to 5% max HP
Dark Thirst: HP healed has been increased from 6% max HP to 9% max HP
All Adventurer Magicians
We have removed the attack speed boost while equipping a Wand and replaced it with a critical rate boost.
MP Increase: attack speed boost while equipping a Wand has been removed, now you will gain 3% critical chance while equipping a Wand
Bishop
Bowmaster
Bowmaster’s Marksmanship’s boost has been changed and Arrow Platter’s cooldown has been removed.
Arrow Platter: installed Arrow Platter’s duration has been increased from 10 seconds to 30 seconds, cooldown has been removed, installed Arrow Platter will no longer activate Final Attack
Marksmanship: 35% damage boost has been changed into 25% attack boost
Night Lord
Captain
We fixed one of Captain’s skill descriptions.
Cannon Shooter
To increase Cannon Shooter’s boss fighting abilities, we have increased Buckshot’s damage.
Mikhail
Mikhail’s Soul Attack and Combat Mastery had the same function so we have removed it in Combat Mastery.
Soul Attack: damage boost to enemies inflicted with statuses has been increased from 20% to 40%
Combat Mastery: damage boost to enemies inflicted with statuses has been removed
Soul Master
Soul Master’s Falling Moon has been buffed a little.
Master of the Sword: Falling Moon’s damage reduction has been decreased from 15% to 10% (damage has been increased from 85% to 90%)
Flame Wizard
We have removed the attack speed boost while equipping a Wand and replaced it with a critical rate boost.
Natural Talent: attack speed boost while equipping a Wand has been removed, now you will gain 3% critical chance while equipping a Wand
Wind Breaker
An error in Wind Breaker’s skill descriptions has been fixed and Trifling Wind’s damage has been increased.
Sky’s Song: skill description listing damage boost when hitting less monsters twice has been fixed
Trifling Whim III: damage has been increased from 260% to 290% (enhanced arrow’s damage has been increased from 360% to 390%)
Trifling Whim – Double Chance: possibility of creating 2x arrows has been added to the skill description
Evan
We have removed the attack speed boost while equipping a Wand and replaced it with a critical rate boost.
Spell Mastery: attack speed boost while equipping a Wand has been removed, now you will gain 3% critical chance while equipping a Wand
Phantom
Phantom’s Ultimate Drive’s cast delay has been reduced a little to make it more useful.
Demon Avenger
After reducing Demon Avenger’s Absorb Life’s healing, we have realized their difficulty of play has gone up significantly so we have made some changes to return to previous levels.
Exceed: Overload increase when using another Exceed skill during an Exceed skill has been decreased from 2 to 1
Absorb Life: HP healed has been increased 3% to 5% max HP
Advanced Absorb Life: HP healed has been increased from 8% to 10% max HP
Thousand Sword: HP consumption has been increased from 5% max HP to 15% max HP
In other news, a new law has been passed in Korea requiring all companies to disclose the probabilities of gambling-type items, and that applies to MapleStory as well! On June 30, they will be releasing the probabilities of their items.
So we’ll finally know how likely it is to get items from things like Philosopher’s Books (and other items like that)! I’m not sure if this will include Miracle Cubes and their chances to upgrade/get certain lines, but hopefully it does.

That DK boost. Five percent healed with every hit… I was considering starting a DK, now I really want to. Also, Soul Master is getting strong now. Falling Moon nearly doubles your damage. 90% damage with double hits.

Won’t that mean people are just going to bandwagon onto warrior classes? Though warriors have always been reliable, even pre-big bang, so it’s always their time to shine.
Litterally the most autistic class changes I’ve ever witnessed in my entire life. Not only does Blaze Wizard drop from 280% orbit to 205%, but now you’re replacing attack speed with 3% crit? Kill yourself. Kaiser still does 1min-1min20s Hellux regardless of the nerf. Blaze Wizard? More than double that time; but, to humour us even more… Gigas Wave now has more % damage than our orbit. Smh …
Excited for the cannoneer buffs 🙂 But wow, 3% crit is really disappointing. Glad for the Platter cooldown removal but the Marksmanship… I don’t want to call it a nerf since it’s still a buff compared to what they have now but uh… they nerfed the buff so buff nerf! The Marksmanship buff nerf is meh.

25%att is actually much better than 35%totaldmg when it comes down to bossing. So it’s actually a buff if by “attack boost” they mean %att.
Oh yes… hope that probability on items release include everything like cubes! We can finally see what it was like…

A lot of people have the sound on when they play games… If they have only that to change, it shouldn’t even make a difference. You know they need to test jobs at least a little before giving people access. Can you clarify Ultimate Drive speed changes?
It means that it takes less time to start up Ultimate Drive. The actual time between hits isn’t affected by this round of balancing.
It’s the start up delay this time, not the actual attack speed

I’M disappointed we didn’t get more supportive skills, better mobility replacement for shadow web, more lines or speed. QT feels really slow without MPE green potion now, and we need hyper skill to get 5 hits… or even less delay on shadow partner but no…

Despite having to use past job Exceed skills when mobbing, I’m pretty damn satisfied with these Demon Avenger changes.
