KMST ver. 1.2.045 – Maple Union & Omega Sector Returns!
A new test server patch has been released, containing the new Maple Union system as well as the return of Omega Sector and many other useful changes.
EDIT: I added a bunch of details and pictures of the Maple Union system plus a small little summary so I hope you guys can understand it. If you have any questions, feel free to comment!
Maple Union
<Maple Union> has been added.
- Maple Union is a system that grows with all of your characters in your world.
- All characters who are level 60 or above and have completed the 2nd job advancement (level 130 or above for Zero) will be members of the Maple Union.
- If the total level of your members (your Union level) is 500 or more and you have 3 or more members, you can accept the Maple Union starting quests by talking to Ms. Account.
Attacker Organization and Battle Map Placement
- You can choose some of your Maple Union characters as attackers and place them on the Battle Map.
- Each attacker will have a unique Attacker Effect, based on the character’s job and rank.
- Each attacker will occupy a certain sized area of the battle map based on their rank. The Battle Map has specific squares that give specific occupation effects, and if your attacker’s squares are occupying them, you’ll get those effects.
- Attacker Effects and occupation effects will apply to all characters in your world.
- The number of Attackers you can have and the area of the Battle Map that you can occupy will increase based on your Union Rank.
- When your Union Level reaches certain levels, you can upgrade your Union Rank by paying Union Coins to Ms. Account.
Attacker Effects
Each character will have a different Attacker Effect based on its job and rank. You will only receive the effects if the character is placed as an active Attacker in the Battle Map. Also, if you have multiple Attackers that are the same class, you will only receive the effect of the highest rank one (e.g. no stacking Zeroes for extra bonus experience).
This is almost exactly the same as how Character Cards used to be. However, there are a few changes such as certain jobs’ effects and the ranks based on level.
A character’s rank is decided as follows:
- B: level 60~99 (level 130~159 for Zero)
- A: level 100~139 (level 160~179 for Zero)
- S: level 140~199 (level 180~199 for Zero)
- SS: level 200~249
- SSS: level 250
The different jobs’ Attacker Effects are as follows:
- Hero: 10/20/40/80/100 STR
- Paladin: 10/20/40/80/100 STR

- Evan: 70% chance to heal 2/4/6/8/10% MP, can activate once every 10 seconds, if it activates the next activation rate is decreased by 2x

Occupation Effects
The main part of the Maple Union UI is the Battle Map. Here you can see a bunch of squares divided into different areas. Each area will give different stats and you can gain these stats by placing an Attacker onto them.
Each Attacker you place will have a different shape based on its job (warrior – ‘O’/magician – ‘T’/archer – ‘I’/thief – ‘L’/pirate – ‘Z’) and its card rank (SSS rank – 5 squares, SS rank – 4 squares, S rank – 3 squares, A rank – 2 squares, B rank – 1 square).
Then it becomes a sort of puzzle where you place the pieces onto the Battle Map to occupy the spaces with the effects you would like.
You can rotate or flip them in any way but each placed piece must touch a previously placed one (the first piece must touch one of the 4 centre squares). You can also overlap pieces.
Based on the number of squares that you occupy in an area, you’ll receive more of the occupation effect.
The occupation effects are divided into two groups: 15 square areas and 40 square areas. The 15 square areas are completely unlocked at the beginning. You can also swap around the position of these 15 square areas any way you would like.
However, none of the 40 square areas will be available and their positions cannot swapped.
Based on your Union Rank, you’ll unlock a 1-square outline around the 15 square areas each time you achieve the following ranks:
- Novice Union 4
- Veteran Union 1
- Veteran Union 3
- Veteran Union 5
- Master Union 2
The effects are as follows:
- 15 Square Areas
- STR: 5 per square (maximum of 75)
- DEX: 5 per square (maximum of 75)
- INT: 5 per square (maximum of 75)
- LUK: 5 per square (maximum of 75)
- Attack: 1 per square (maximum of 15)
- Magic Attack: 1 per square (maximum of 15)
- HP: 250 per square (maximum of 3750)
- MP: 250 per square (maximum of 3750)
- 40 Square Areas
- Status Resistance: 1% per square (maximum of 40%)
- Bonus Experience: 0.25% per square (maximum of 10%)
- Critical Rate: 1% per square (maximum of 40%)
- Boss Damage: 1% per square (maximum of 40%)
- Stance: 1% per square (maximum of 40%)
- Buff Duration: 1% per square (maximum of 40%)
- Defense Ignore: 1% per square (maximum of 40%)
- Critical Damage: 0.5% per square (maximum of 20%)
Union Ranks
To increase your Union Rank, you must achieve certain Union Levels (total level of all your Maple Union members). Then you must pay a certain number of Union Coins to Ms. Account.

Union Raid
- The Union Raid is a cooperative battle fought by you and your Attacker characters.
- You can press the <Join Battle> button to enter the Union Raid with your characters.
- When you enter the Union Raid, all your Attackers will be placed on the battlefield and all characters except for the one you are controlling will automatically attack the boss monster in the centre of the map. Each character deals damage based on their Attack Power, which is determined based on their level and Star Force.
- NOTE: You can control your own character and use all of your skills/move around freely.
- The giant boss monster will take damage equal to your automatic Attackers’ total Attack Power every second.
- NOTE: The giant boss monster will not move or attack. However, it will summon Mini Dragons and the Golden Wyvern occasionally which will move around the map. You can kill these to complete daily quests.
- The giant boss monster’s damage taken will be updated every 5 seconds. Every time you deal 100b damage, you will receive 1 Union Coin.
- NOTE: You can see the golden numbers on the bar at the top. Whenever they increase by 1, you’ll receive a coin.
- Even if you do not directly enter the Union Raid, your Attackers’ automatic attacks will continue to deal damage to the boss monster and accumulate Union Coins.
- NOTE: This applies even if you log off.
- All Union Coins that you have accumulated will be given to you upon exiting the Union Raid.

Okay I added a ton of details up there so I don’t think I need to do a full out tutorial or anything. But here’s my current Maple Union board, which I’ll go through so you guys can understand how it works.
I have 9/12 Attackers placed right now, around the Battle Map. Since my Maple Union’s rank is Novice Union 4, I have unlocked a 1-square outline of the initial 12×10 rectangle. I have also swapped the positions of the LUK and DEX areas so that it would be closer to the Attack area.
Under the green Join Battle button, you can see two boxes.
- The left box lists the Attacker Effects (a.k.a. Character Card effects).
- 80 STR bonus from my Paladin (SS rank)
- 80 DEX bonus from my Bowmaster (SS rank)
- 8% bonus experience from my Zero (S rank)
- etc.
- The right box lists the Occupation Effects, which are the bonuses you get by occupying certain squares on the board with your Attackers.
- 50 DEX from occupying 10/15 squares of the DEX area.
- 10 INT from occupying 2/15 squares of the INT area.
- 5 LUK from occupying 1/15 squares of the LUK area.
- 14 attack from occupying 14/15 squares of the attack area.

Phirst
Is omega sector a shitty 30 minute long theme dungeon like the revamped revamped revamped kerning square?
I haven’t done it yet so I’m not sure!
TL;DR: Union System = Character’s Cards/Part Time system revamp.
Good Side:
You can now place infinite cards rather being limited to 9 (you can’t repeat a class’ effect).
Set bonuses are replaced by grid bonuses, which are the same but can be distributed freely.
Options: ATK, MATK, HP, MP, Stats, Crit Rate, Crit Damage, Boss %, Buff Duration, Ignore Defense, Stance and Exp Rate.
There are more bonuses for LV140, LV200 and LV250 cards, both from grid (all) and class card (only LV250).
The grid bonuses to practical effects does not cap at all at difference of set bonuses.
Training mules becomes sightly faster since we can focus the bonuses in Exp Rate now.
Replacing Part-Time there is a Boss Raid that runs automatically giving coins which can be used in a super neat shop.
Neutral Side:
The power upgrade for someone with 9 or less Character’s Cards is minimal at best.
Useless cards now have bad but at least useable bonuses and a few cards got nerfed.
Negative Side:
S Cards are now LV140…
Old Part-time is removed altogether.
We need to work in a mini-game with a boss to recover from set bonuses removal and eventually get more power.
There wasn’t a time limit in the SS of the boss fight in Union, so I wonder if someone could just afk with autopot and allow their other characters to deal damage.
Hm…
You don’t need to be inside for your other characters to continue fighting, they’ll always be automatically attacking even if you log off!
any idea what the ranked rewards are for the weekly union thing are? Thanks
Not at this moment, the NPC doesn’t have any specifics about them.
second
About the rank effect, the Japanese website has a full one right here, hope it helps! http://uni-wz.com/blog-entry-2941.html
Thanks! Added.
Hey max, I’d like to know if you are able to say get those union coins on a beginner and buy yourself Union Growth Potions to level up? I’m just wondering if I can get my lvl 100 beginner to lvl 130 that way.
I’m not 100% sure, don’t have a high level beginner. 😛 But I think it should be ok?
So the only contribution you can make in the Union Raid is to just attack the smaller monsters for the daily quest? Your damage doesn’t contribute to attacking the main boss?
You can deal damage to the giant boss as well!
This is a lot,
Love that Meso ranger stuff
Are the Attacker and Occupation effected by % stat?
e.g. Say I have 100% DEX from equipment potentials. I level an Angelic Buster to lv140, which grants 80 DEX. Do I gain 80 DEX, or 160 DEX?
I don’t believe Character Card bonuses were affected by % stat so I don’t think these will be either.
Oh yea, if each class has its own shape, what about Xenon?
Xenon just uses the thief one
LMAO That Mesodizer glitch
Why Maple union no revamp resistance job??????
Because they’re probs working on next set of 5th job skills and that’s a handful. Also in some cases 5th job will be the revamp in itself (like making a shitty 4th job much more epic, or toning OP one by giving it less powerful 5th job compared to rest).
So for grandmaster union 5 i need 40 250 chracters?
Yep 😛
” Growing with your characters ” as in they level up doing this or referring to the stats distributed to the characters of the same world?
Yeah it just means the stats part of it. As you yourself level up your characters, your characters’ occupied areas will increase and you’ll unlock more of the Battle Map so it does ‘grow with your characters’.
Is growing with your characters, leveling up or just distribution of stats and effects only?
Sorry for the double post. My first one didn’t show up lol
What I wonder is that how many can you add to your board? If we think of the old system, current in GMS you can hold 3 characters in each deck(total of 9). Every deck gives you a bonus. These bonuses is now freely up to you to put out? and can I add all my chars instead of only 9?
The number of attackers you can place is the limit. It’s based on your Union Rank.
The characters that I attach to the boss map fighting the boss, will they give fighting and give me bonuses til I switch them out? Like they are attacking forever?
Yep they’ll always be ‘fighting’. It’s pretty much just a visual thing though because you can still log in to all of them normally.
Where are the monster details from? Did they add some kind of bestiary that gives all the monster stats?
It’s from the program I use to look at the wz data
Is the level required for union rank is for all your characters in your account or just the attackers?
All characters in the same world that are level 60+ with 2nd job advancement!
Can I obtain Grand Master union lvl 5 even if I dont have 40 lvl 250s? I mean if I got a lot of lvl 200 instead that would work too?
If I get 50 characters to 200 that would be 10 000 lvls, correct? (I know we dont have that much character slot)
But I hope you see my point! 🙂
I calculated myself and we have 40 character slots, 40 x 250 = 10 000..
This means the only way to obtain the highest rank is to get all your characters on your account to 250!
Yep, the math says you can’t be missing a single level on any of your characters.
249 x 40 = 9960…
There’s no slack. If you were hoping to make up for it with extra characters, don’t bother, it is a Pain to Hope, after all.
The maximum character slots is 40 so no, you’ll need 40 level 250s. Maybe in the future if they expand the number of characters slots, that will be possible!

Hi Max, is the union rank level required affected by just the attackers or all characters in your account?
Union Level = total levels of all Maple Union members (all characters in the world that are level 60+ and have completed the 2nd job advancement).
What happened to Zeno? Seems odd that they would kick him out; he’s still in the dojo right?
Zeno was removed with the Reboot Update for dojo. He really didn’t have much of a story behind him compared to other classic bosses such as Papulatas and Pianus. I would wish they kept him instead of making a space-washing-machine a boss, but thems the breaks.
Finally, the update to the Cc system. Now I have to get my SS cards to a SSS rank… fun. Personally would’ve just settled for 5 sets, but I guess this was to keep the new lvl 1-29 characters from doing insane 3k damage to snails… lol.
I mean, it doesn’t surprise me honestly. They did the same thing with Nine-Tailed Fox and Scholar Ghost when Korean Folk Town returned.
Now all that’s left are Florina Beach and Tera Forest.
And Chryse, as Chryse is just a PQ now. the actual area is not open yet.
Hi, regarding maple union attacker effects, is it possible to stack different job cards that give the same effect? Eg a Lvl 140 kaiser +40 STR with a Lvl 140 hero +40 STR. Would it give me +80 STR?
That’s how the old Character card system worked. (Angelic buster+Bow master) So I would think that they wouldn’t nerf that, especially if they have all 40 cards needed to reach the top ranks.
Yep.
So to get, for example, Veteran Union 4 rank, I’d have to pay a total of 1800 coins?
That is correct!
When do you think this come to gms and do you thick this make a big difference of f2p player when it come to dmg
Probably in 6 months or so! It’s honestly very similar to Character Cards so I don’t see it making much of a difference. However, you can tailor your Battle Map to whatever stats you want easier than before so it might be a small boost.
Hello Max. I was watching an informative youtube video about the maple union from islinggunz youtube channel and I encountered a question I’d like to know the answer of. He compared 2 classes that had the same character effect: Hero + Kaiser. They both give 80 STR at lvl 200 with the SS-rank. He said that they do not stack and that it was the highest card that give STR who would count. I’ve checked and seen that many characters give STR now with this change. But if they dont stack it feels demotivating to level those characters.
My question in this case is, if you know if those would stack? Hero, Paladin, Buccaneer, Cannoneer, Striker, Kaiser? They all give STR.
Because I understand that you are not able to have the same characters to get the same stats.
For example 2 kaiser SS rank = 160STR. That is not possible.
But different jobs giving the same effect should work? Just like it does with the current character card system?
Yeah you can stack different jobs that give the same stats.
Thank you for your time to answer my question!
May I know when this patch launch? and when will it update to other Server like GMS or MSEA?
Add ~6 months for GMS
Did they change Mihile + Soulmaster char card from HP to defense??
In KMST they did but it was changed to HP when this update was added to the official servers (https://orangemushroom.net/2017/01/18/kms-ver-1-2-271-maplestory-beyond-union-2/).
So then question? If the cards are getting removed will the current benefits we have from the Cards we still have currently still apply from this grid they are coming up with? Our STR,DEF,HP ETC?Itll be a pain if we have to work all of that =_=.
