Thief and Pirate Reorganization Preview!

Inkwell’s Secret Diary has received another new entry, and this one is super interesting! These are previews of the new skills that the Thief and Pirate jobs will receive!

November 23, 2011. Meet the newly resurrected Thief and Pirate!
New changes are going to be brought to the Maple World! I can’t wait!

They look really interesting to me! Night Lords seem to be getting many different types of projectile skills… but the Shadower skills all look the same… maybe they’re all part of one animation? I guess the Octopi will play a really big role in the new Captain class! The skills for the Viper seem very boring… recolours of the Cannon Shooter skills? I hope that this changes when it’s actually released!

Also, the Little Indian event has begun, and will run until December 14!

Basically, every XX:05 and XX:35, you’ll be invited to a raid! In this raid, you have 5 minutes to save as many Little Indians as you can from the clutches of the evil tigers! On the left will be a counter, for how many you have saved so far.

The first way you can save them is by defeating the regular tigers. They’ll ‘drop’ the kids and you can save them by looting them.

There’s also some kids in weak cages, you can use your normal attack key to break these cages and set them free!

In addition, there’s a stronger cage that can only be opened with a key, that is dropped from the Wild Beast! After getting the key, you can click on the cage to release the kids~

Based on how many kids you saved, you’ll receive a bag!

  • 0~39 Indians saved: nothing
  • 40~79: Tied Indian Treasure Pouch
  • 80~119: Silver Decorated Indian Treasure Pouch
  • 120~159: Gold Decorated Indian Treasure Pouch
  • 160+: Diamond Decorated  Indian Treasure Pouch

Each pouch can give you different prizes, and higher quality bags can give you items from lower quality bags.

  • 5 times: Indian’s Shout buff (for level 71+, 40 attack and magic attack for 30 minutes), title
  • 10 times: 60% Weapon for Attack/Magic Attack Scroll (choose one)
  • 15 times: Indian Hog Silver Mane riding, title
  • 20 times: 60% Miraculous Chaos Scroll

      second! and seems like nexon actually listened to us making up some lost ground but now ere getting into unstable territory. What will happrn next! and they are called captain and viper now. WHY?

        They always were called Captain and Viper, just that Nexon America decided to be “unique” and translated them as Corsair and Buccaneer, respectively.

        The class names are as follows in KMS and MSEA:

        Pirate -> Gunslinger -> Valkyrie -> Captain

        Pirate -> Infighter -> Buccaneer -> Viper

      Dual Blades are powerful enough. They are not in need of a revamp as much as Pirates and Non-DB Theifs.

        STILL i find that very exciting for Buccs Demo animation is kinda boring but this giant ass beam thing seems kinda cool to me

      Agreed. Bucc’s are currently boring and so far Nexon has made no changes to Bucc’s so far even though Bucc’s are in need of a revamp more than any other job out there. But this is just a preview. No official changes.

    What i believe these are samples , if you notice the shadower skills all seems to be assaulter , the artist is trying to pick one of them , so there are many change to see them later. >> same goes for other jobs samples of 1-2 skills max.

    Actually i think you’re right. All the skills are relatively the same, especially when you look at the NL skills. When you look at the viper skills you can tell that they’re samples because none of the frames add up, they don’t flow. Theyre 4 different thumbnails. Nice catch! 🙂

    When you said “Based on Many kids you saved, you’ll receive a bag!” does it mean that it depends what level you need to be to get the bag or the kids? I’m a bit confused on that one. Sorry for my lack of insight sometimes :/.

    The animations and concepts look interesting enough. But all I can say is that I’m betting the farm that Thieves/Pirates are going to be massively OP for a while after this since, ya know, the Union patch hasn’t done any real balancing at all, it’s just given us some placebo effects.

      Hmm a mixed bag here for bucc players.I have a bucc as main..On one hand I always dreamt that my bucc would get shinku hadoken (ryu’s ultimate hadoken that goes like a huge blue beam)

      On the other hand,looking at the link above I am severely disappointed that transform and super transform got deleted.These were the only thing that kept me playing a bucc.It looks so damn cool and gives haste.You become a saiyan..that was unique.No class could do that.

      I just hope this is wrong or simply changed in further patches

        Looking at the link again and thinking about it,Now it feels even more horrible.
        Removing demo? The only bossing skill of buccs.I can understand snatch even though I liked to use it for the lulz.but removing bsb and adding another corkscrew?
        This does not make sense.The concept of buccs was using loads of skills and comboing them.This gets totally ruined by these changes.

        I really hope this is not implemented.

          Yes what you said, all the way. Changes to Bucc’s have been disappointing and no fun. All they needed was a damage increase and maybe a few other skill to make it more exciting and most of all more better. But most of all keep the battle system the same. Demo might not be removed but the giant spammable laser isn’t as cool. Maybe seeing someone do it in an anime as a finishing move is cool (honestly I could give a shit less) but spamming it is nothing special. ST was never removed which is… Okay, I guess but the laser beam is nothing compared to all the other cool skills given to other jobs. I swear if this revamp is another shaft to Buccaneers AGAIN I’m going to delete my account and never come back.

      *facepalm* There really wasn’t any balancing that went on, again. I’m not really surprised, though. Thieves and Pirates don’t really need a screen-attack, which is for some silly reason now becoming a trend. The only classes without a screen-attack are Hero (I’m on the fence about Dragon Roar and Heaven’s Hammer, but don’t even try to BS me about Shout) and Bowmen, Mercedes, and non-Blaze Wizard KoC’s (feel free to correct any mistakes there). As soon as I saw the damage counts in the Shadower section, the first thing that popped into my head was “Oh great, we’re going to have another round of months of being oppressed by a bandwagon of OP classes. Then we’re going to have another ‘balance’ patch.” It doesn’t take a psychic to tell that there’s going to be major un-balancing when the Union patch is said and done.

      Why T and ST were removed seems kinda silly to me since that was a sweet skill, period. Plus, it gave the dynamic of having a level of power that you couldn’t be in all the time (okay, so 20 seconds of non-ST, I know). I’d rather ST be a toggle skill than this. Adding animations of going into ST for a single skill is just LAME. Seriously? You’re going to do that? *facepalm* Adding a second CSB is redundant. I’m not going to be surprised when Buccs’ damages go through the roof. Outside that, it’ll be interesting to see how they play out. Buccs at least deserve to be at least in the top 10 of DPM.

      Next, Sair. They have the single BEST skill in the game: “Full Metal Jacket”, nuff’ said. Uhm…I don’t have much else to say than that. Long range isn’t my style.

      Night Lords got the predictable “Quad Throw”, lol. I can’t say much about them aside from that. Refer to final comment about “Sair”.

      Lastly, Shads, mainly because they got the heaviest part of becoming overpowered. Just take 1 look at BStep and Expert, then throw in SP. I’m sorry, but a Shad’s main attacking skill now blows my Brave Slash out of the water by a longshot; the only way I’ll be able to compete is Enrage, and then I’m only hitting 1 monster so I lose anyway. 710% x 2 + 355% x 2 = 2130% > 1800% = 300% x 2 x 3 (Brave Slash), and that’s not even mentioning the difference in mobs that each skill hits. I’m willing to go all in and say that the animation will be quick and the delay will be similar if not lower. Then there’s the perks of Assassinate. Unbalance them so more, why don’t you? I guess they did us a favor in making PP a toggle. Overall, Shads need knocked down a few pegs because at this point, they’re back where they were pre-Chaos and post-Big Bang: overpowering in close range (if you’re not a DS).

      Then what’s with the buff for Paladins? They’re good enough already, not to mention how unfairly they get it good with their cap-hitting defense and high block chances. Why do they insist on throwing out any form of “balance”? To be honest, the closest classes ever were to being “balanced” was back before Big Bang.

      I can smell the bandwagon. Everyone, pump up your Mercedes and Demon Slayers to brace yourselves against the coming bandwagon. We’re going to fight OP with OP, lmao.

        Well if you actually compare heros to pallys even with this extra attack they are still far under us 300% x 2 x 3 x 1.25 x 1.6 = 3600% > 2856 = 340% x 4 x 1.4 x 1.5. And like final attack and crit or what ever there are other things to be considered. All that defense won’t do them good with out more any damage.

          and pala is 340 x 4 x (1~1.65)x1.5 = 2040 % ~ 3366 % ,but u wna get the equation for hero of above , u nid to reach at least lv156 ..and pala lv13x ady have tis percentage ..beside that ,pala will be higher than tis value with CO and 52% critical rate and mastery , the point is ..maple story made a role since jump patch ..hero>offensive , pala>defensive , wad the point maple nerf our power guard and def skill of hero but didnt increase much offensive when compare to pala but pala get imba defensive skill ,10divine shied with 1.5sec invicible time every activate , (10×1.5sec=15sec) , and the skill cd time only 30sec ,mean pala only will get hurt by half of the time , within this half of the time , 30% guard chance , 20% damage block , 300% WD , how come?

          What I’m saying is that the ratios are insane. Paladins are meant to be a simple tanks, not destroyers. You’re forgetting the Mastery +% from Advanced Charge, which is a factor that puts Pallies closer, but no matter. Look how far off a Paladin is from a Hero in terms of damage, now look at how far off a Hero is from a Pally in terms of defense. Pallies need a damage nerf or Heroes need a defense buff because a Paladin is an overall better class, period. A Pally will hit defense cap and have a 86% block chance (Shield Mastery + Blocking + Blessing Armor) with 71% damage reduction (Power Guard + Achilles), while a Hero will have maybe 3k defense and 0% block chance with 30% damage reduction. Please, don’t tell me that’s a fair difference between them.

        I think the reason why people are bitching and ranting about shads having low DPS is the comparison to those stupid Dual Blades. Overall the main thing you might want to get out of the way is a Dual Blade. They have so much more power and some skills that a theif isn’t expected to have such as stance. In GMS the strategy to keep the bandwagon low on Dual Blades wasn’t the same as KMS. As a matter of fact, there was no effort to try to stop it. Even now on a non-event you can still make Dual Blades.

        Pre-BB some jobs were mighty useless. Though not as un-balanced as now.

    The changes are looking good so far. But the one job that is in need of a revamp due to the Legendary potential skill released “Wind Booster” Has destroyed all meaning and use of a Viper. Only thing that have been released to Buccaneers is a laser beam. WHOOPIE A SKILL THAT 2-3 OTHER JOBS HAVE!

    Unfair if u calculate so .. , 300% x 2 x 3 x 1.25 x 1.6 = 3600% only come at least at lv15x , while pala 340% x 4 x (1~1.65) x 1.5 = 2040%~ 3366% and with ur 52%critical chance (x1.18%) and CO (sure more than 340% ) , lead u to 2407~3971% , havent include the mastery as well ….

    Since jump patch, maple take away lots of def from hero so obviously wna made thier role more obvious , hero > offensive ,pala > defensive ,wad the point that hero damage arent high much in a obvious dps role while pala get the defensive skill that r kind of imba , divine shield ( 1.5sec invicible time once activate ,with 10 shield = 15sec invicible and the skill cd only 30sec ) , is equal to half of the time u will invicible, within another half of the time , pala still have 30% block chance, 21% damge block , 300% WD , a heal skill =.=”

    They seriously need to implement more colors in those attacks. All I see is YELLOW EXPLOSIONS everywhere.
    And why does the Bucc get so much long-ranged laser-blast skills? If players want that then they should play a Cannoneer. A buccaneer should be up close and smashing faces in with their FISTS, as they originally were.

    I’m not saying I don’t support the revamp, but I wish they kept more true to the knuckle-users’ original philosophy. Judging by the few videos I’ve seen, they don’t look to be punching things very much anymore.

    I from Maplesea ..Max may I ask u questiosn about AFA of hero? I really very confuse about it , many forum just giving different answers ,si I cant find out the true mechanicsm of it ,I don’t really know how final attack works .

    If i using Brave slash now , and triggered AFA then my damage is
    1) (300%x3 )+ 250% +250% or
    2) (300%x3 )+(300%x2.5) +(300%x2.5) or
    3) (300%x3) + (300% +250%) +(300%+250%)

    and what skills does AFA will triggered damage? Is Panic and Coma works with AFA?
    If AFA if follow equation 2) or 3) with based on your last attack damage , if the my last damage that used to triggered AFA is a critical damage , will it calculated based on the critical damage or a purely new damage? And AFA will triggered critical damage?

    Vipers are my love.
    Very extremely disappointed seeing them losing their beastout. (what i call transformations, since they get buffed frm it.)
    Futhermore, lets think about it clearly.
    Viper used to transform, and now u want us to fight WITH a transformed ? makes us ultra inferior. i hate this revamp of vipers . . . . . .
