So last minute nerf on Aran… I feel with the lose of 120 attack, 20% damage, Beyonder Blades damage being cut in half, and the nerf to Final Blow that Arans are actually weaker than before the patch…

    • Anonymous
      November 13, 2015 at 11:11 pm

Ikr, so much for the idea that the Aran revamp would only change some of his skills but that his main core mechanics wouldn’t be affected. With the massive damage boost to skills thanks to Adrenaline, its like Arans will now depend on that skill to regain their now lower bossing potential.

      • Anonymous
        November 13, 2015 at 11:44 pm

To be fair the damage increase from what GMS has now compared to this makes them maybe 1.5 – 2x stronger w/o Adrenaline Boost.

          November 14, 2015 at 12:10 am

As a dude who mains an Aran I’d like to believe you, I do really, but prove to me that large damage nerf + skill damage nerf makes them stronger than current GMS Arans.

You lose 20% damage, which stacks with other % damage, Skill reinforce damage and boss damage and gain 35% final damage slight improvement. And 120 attack, probably the most harmful thing here.

Current FBBB 7985.4%DPS, Smash Swing BB 10967.3 .. so almost 40% better in damage…
Hmmm I guess I forgot about that 120 attack…. At least we have a summon? And Judgment is fast to cast with decent damage and DoT?
I think that makes it 12664%DPS? 58.5% improvement. + AFA and dynamic mastery, if u want.

And then you have Adrenaline Boost 42878%DPS, yes really, though it only last for 15 seconds, and takes maybe 40-50 seconds to get into it.

Average Adrenaline Boost and normal attacks and you get 19636.5%DPS HAZA! And if hunters target can be cast in less than a second then you’ll average 20638%DPS. Why would anyone ever charge this skill?

            November 14, 2015 at 10:38 am

That’s nice and all but you’re proving my point that Adrenaline will be somewhat necessary to boost Aran’s hunting ability. Credit where its due though I guess im okay with making Smash Swing more useful than FB + BB.

“An error where certain final damage increasing skills’ effects would not apply to critical hits has been fixed.”

Hero’s Combo Attack, Chance Attack, Enrage

FINALLY. This is a pretty huge change for Hero. If combo attack now affects critical damage properly, they’ve changed the way it is calculated.

Chance attack was similarly changed a few months ago, but I have yet to see anyone post an update showing how that has affected damage.

-25% damage overall to Enrage is a massive nerf, but I’d guess this is being offset by the new formula change.

Does anyone know the new damage formula for Hero now?

    • Anonymous
      November 15, 2015 at 7:01 am

No video indication, but I’m pretty sure they made crit multiplicative to ACA, Chance Attack and Enrage rather than addictive, which would definitely be a huge buff.

Before the fix months ago, Chance Attack and Enrage are both considered ‘+ % Total Damage’, which made them addictive to each other, resulting in a total of +85% TD.

      The fix changed Chance Attack into a ‘multiplier’, which means instead of stacking 60% + 25% = 85%, they multiply instead to give 1.6 x 1.25 = 2x. (+100%).

ACA is a unique case, presumably bugged, such that when it comes into play, crits becomes a +70% (base 50% + 20% Incising) instead of a 1.7x multiplier.

      Anatomy of Hero damage pre-1.2.248:
      Enrage: +60% TD
      Chance Attack: 1.25x multiplier
      ACA: 2.4x multiplier
      Incising: +20% crit damage

      When everything comes to play:
      Without Crit:
      No Enrage: 2.4 x 1.25 = 3.0x
      W. Enrage: 2.4 x 1.25 x 1.60 = 4.8x

      With Crit:
      No Enrage: 2.4 x 1.25 + (0.50 + 0.20) = 3.7x
      W. Enrage: 2.4 x 1.25 x 1.60 + (0.50 + 0.20)= 5.5x

This is why as a hero, our non-crit and crit damage are so similar.

      Anatomy of Hero damage post-1.2.248:
      Weapon Mastery: +10% TD
      Enrage: +25% TD
      Chance Attack: 1.25x multiplier
      ACA: 2.4x multiplier
      Incising: +20% crit damage

      When everything comes to play:
      Without Crit:
      No Enrage: 2.4 x 1.25 x 1.1 = 3.3x
      W. Enrage: 2.4 x 1.25 x 1.35 = 4.455x

      With Crit:
      No Enrage: 2.4 x 1.25 x 1.1 x 1.7 = 5.61x
      W. Enrage: 2.4 x 1.25 x 1.35 x 1.7 = 7.5735x

Essentially, all our multipliers changed for the better except Enrage + non-crit. Considering RB has 2 hits of free crit, it more than compensates. Anyways, Hero got buffed hard.

      • Anonymous
        November 15, 2015 at 8:51 am

Thanks for the explanation, and the numbers.

Just a few bits that look slightly off there with Enrage.

        W. Enrage: 2.4 x 1.25 x 1.35 x 1.7 = 7.5735x ”

        With Enrage I calculated
        Non Crit: 2.4 x 1.25 x 1.35 = 4.05x
        Crit: 2.4 x 1.25 x 1.35 x 1.7 = 6.885x

Just wondering if this was a calculation error or if you factored something else in?

Your point still stands though. All multipliers have been improved apart from the Non-Crit Enrage which is now worse.

        Overall fantastic changes.

        • Anonymous
          November 15, 2015 at 6:12 pm

You’re right. I accidentally multiplied 1.1 to everything again. Anyway with Enrage, its 2 hits of guaranteed crit; factoring 25% crit for the remaining 5 hits would average to 3 crits per RB.

          Old RB would have a avg multiplier of 3 x 5.5 + 4 x 4.8 = 35.7x
          New RB would have a avg multiplier of 3 x 6.885 + 4 x 4.05 = 36.855x

And that is with base crit rate.
+15% crit rate from Phantom link would give 40% crit, or 4 crits per RB on average.
          Old:
          4 x 5.5 + 3 x 4.8 = 36.4
          New:
          4x 6.885 + 3 x 4.05 = 39.69

In reality, marginal difference for base crit, but more significant when we bring in higher crit rates like Phantom link and DSE. Imagine if they kept 60% Enrage, that would give some insane numbers.

TBH while they inevitably did a good job with ACA, the 1 thing I want more is for Incising to apply Chance Attack so that I no longer need to use Panic to trigger it.

          • Anonymous
            November 15, 2015 at 11:48 pm

That’s a change I’d like to see too. They could easily change it so Incising counts as a blind debuff (the same way threaten does) or ideally just expand Chance Attack to cover more status ground.

60% enrage with these changes would have been incredible. It does still give 15% minimum critical damage though, so does that change our critical multiplier from 1.7 to 1.85?

Beyond these major changes, there are still a few more smaller damage and aesthetic tweaks I’d personally like to see happen.

Firstly, I would welcome axe animations with open arms. As an axe hero, its somewhat obnoxious seeing my huge axe turn into a sword when I’m using anything but raging blow. It reminds me of the days that intrepid slash didn’t have an axe animation at all.

            Rage Uprising (sword)
            Panic (sword)
            Rush (sword)
            Incising (sword)
            Combo Fury (sword)
Cry Valhalla (sword, though it is a buff)

            2nd Job
I dislike the recent KMS change to Mastery even if axes did get 5% damage. Not that it matters a great deal, but I’d rather they didn’t favor one type of weapon. Swords could quite easily have got a 5% crit rate bonus (or min crit damage bonus). I get that they are trying to promote axes, but promoting one weapon over the other somewhat negates the point of having the option.

            3rd Job
Self Recovery should be % based and I’d like to see it combined with endure (or removed completely) freeing up a slot for a new skill.

            4th Job
Stance requiring 30 SP is complete rubbish for a fourth job skill. Considering warriors were the pioneers of Stance, its mad that we put 30 SP into it and get nothing other than a 60% stance chance. Kind of ridiculous really if you compare this to other classes.

          • Anonymous
            November 16, 2015 at 12:36 pm

“It does still give 15% minimum critical damage though, so does that change our critical multiplier from 1.7 to 1.85?”
            Nah, it doesn’t. 1.7 is the max crit multiplier. The min crit multiplier is 1.2 + 1.2 + 1.15 = 1.55

As for your wishlist of changes, I kind of agree with everything you mentioned. Endure is like wuhtttt… 1% status resist per SP is just too stingy. I wont even mind if they removed the HP recovery from Self Recovery, and add the MP recovery part to Endure or something.

I dont really mind 4th job skills like Stance costing too much SP because 4th job SP come super easily. I mean it is definitely nice to have more skills which can be useful, but we already have some of the better passives in the game so I can live with it.

For now I only really have 2 skill ideas in my wishlist:
A skill which adds x% crit rate for using a sword and x% max crit damage for using an axe
A skill which adds status resist and/or weapon attack depending on % HP missing

          • Anonymous
            November 16, 2015 at 12:40 pm

A skill which adds status resist and/or weapon attack depending on % HP missing – by that I mean at lower HP you get more benefits, just like that 3rd job Luminous skill encourages playing below full HP. Makes sense for hero because are are more or less the ‘berserker’ class of all warrior classes.

wow yet more rebalancing and no 5th job yet. what a joke.

    • Dark Evan
      November 15, 2015 at 5:10 pm

One of the things they said had to be done before 5th job was balancing out all the jobs.
      Chill out.
I do believe it will arrive in KMS by summer though.
      1. they’ve had plenty of time to develop it. There are full games that have taken less time to work on
      2. They said that 5th job would take a while because they want each skill to have incredibly intricate animations, guess what the 2D skeleton system does? Makes designing and implementing intricate animations easier
      3. They said that they need to make sure that it’s all balanced and no class gets left behind, since they’re releasing it for every class at once, which means they have to balance 4th/hypers first.
      4. Evan and Aran have been waiting for their turn for an aesthetic touch-up since Tempest ramped up the graphical standards. That was in summer 2012, nearly 3 and a half years ago. Meanwhile most of the cygnus knights got their turn in spring 2013, the adventurers got their update in summer 2013, and the rest of the cygnus got their turn in spring 2014 even the resistance, released 7 months after evan, and a YEAR after Aran, got their turn in Fall 2014.
We’ve waited longer than anyone else, so bringing US up to speed should be given higher priority than giving EVERYONE new skills.
      Everyone else had their revamp.
      Cygnus had Cygnus Awakening/Returns
Adventurers had RED: Revolution, Evolution, Delight/Defiance: First Impact
Resistance had their time to shine in Black Heaven: Third Chapter/First Chapter
Now it’s our turn in Heroes of Maple: REBORN

We’ve been waiting for this since BEFORE 5th job was announced. It’s only fair that you wait til AFTER we’ve had our turn, ESPECIALLY since you’ve already had your turn.

Really? Evan DESERVES this kind of screwed-up revamp? Like SERIOUSLY?

Ignoring the fact they changed our gameplay, the nerfs(those who main an evan since release will know) and how complex the control is, I found out 1 more DISTURBING fact: The new attacks BLOCK bosses (i.e. the player and his party member will not be able to SEE what the boss is attempting to do when evan’s attacking skills are in effect), and I’m referring to ALL the attacks including fusion skills.

For those who don’t go to bosses like CRA, yeah no big deal. For those who does and has a CRA squad, this is a BIG issue as you are gonna be a liability by BLOCKING your squad member’s view(and YOURSELF) of the boss (You can’t see what the boss is going to do or where is it facing). Sure, you can tell yourself that you can get used to it(and suffer a HUGE DPS loss by attacking way less than you should), but do you really think that other player will do that? Most likely they will do the easy way out: KICK you out of their squad.

So evans are more party-friendly after the revamp? I highly doubt so! And thank you nexon for your HORRID designs that will eventually screw evan players and their squad up!

          November 17, 2015 at 1:40 am

Doesn’t the system block the animations of other party members during high level bosses such as Chaos Root Abyss?
At least in GMS and KMS?
I’m pretty sure it does. If it didn’t, there would be a LOT of other people complaining about partying with other classes that already exist.
And i’m pretty sure that only Evan’s stronger attacks block that much of the screen, you can litterally just use swift of wind
Squad? If i had any friends around my level of power i COULD go to Chaos Root Abyss, unfortunately here in GMS, people are too afraid to try what they can’t solo, too lazy to practice what they can’t solo, when they can simply be carried by someone who CAN.
And you can’t get kicked out of a squad if you’re at the head of a squad, because the head is the only member with the power to kick people out
You can’t force people to stay, but you can’t be forced to leave.
Some people are already used to it, by the way, there are videos of CRA AND even Lotus Stage 2 done by Evans.
There are plenty of characters with over the top animations other than Evans
Evans hit faster than Illusion+Dragon Sparking with JUST Circle of Mana+Advanced Dragon Sparking, which means a capping Evan has more DPS WITHOUT using Mir OR fusion skills.

Word of the wise (that’s me btw *evil grin*). 5th job will not be what you expect. If it was to be just another job tier it would be fail on release. Already characters are too similar and have most if not all the commodities by the time they finish 4th – crit boosts, high masteries, flashjumps, stances etc.

Also with so many ppl already having a high level character and by that i mean near 200 it would fail on release as there would be no playing required to get it. You would get it all day one, no dedication required.

Obviously that must not happen for Nexon to bring back players and KEEP them invested.
That and 5th job will have to offer something else then “more lines, more %”, because with 4th already some classes have half a screen covered in numbers when they fight.

5th might take a while, but whatever it’ll be, it’ll be VERY different from all the previous job tiers, both in acquisition and fuctionality.

      • Dark Evan
        November 18, 2015 at 9:04 pm

I agree somewhat. I believe that most, or all classes will have a 5th job that will capitalize on their individual gimmicks, taking them to a new level.
Which may be one of the reasons why an Evan revamp more along the lines of Cygnus Returns than RED, was necessary.
Don’t get me wrong, the growth system was a unique gimmick, but not one that changes gameplay, and as such, not one who’s gameplay can be focused on in 5th job.
Unlike say, the Fusion Skill system, which can easily be expanded upon in 5th job.
        Think of it this way:
Lots of classes already have their gimmick get boosted as they advance.
Phantom can’t use loadout/judgement draw until 2nd job, and it gets a boost in 4th.
Kaiser gains a new stage of Transfiguration in every advancement, except in 4th job where his Final Form/Final Figuration, gets stronger.
Similarily, Luminous is essentially stuck with either sunfire or eclipse in 1st job in KMS, can only switch between the two of them in 2nd job (no equilibrium state, transitions directly between sunfire and eclipse), unlocks the equilibrium in 3rd, it enhances in 4th.

However, there MUST be buffs in 5th job, and to have buffs, you need commodities.
You say there aren’t any, but I thought of a few in but a few minutes. Maybe you just lack the creativity or outside the box thinking that a WISE man ought to possess.
These are a couple commodities that only a few classes have and are in short demand:
        % HP damage reduction,
        elemental resistance.
        max damage increase.
They could have merely nerfed element resistance hard because they wanted everyone to be on an even playing field until everyone got such a buff in 5th job, and so they wouldn’t have to think of replacement skills for classes that had skills that ONLY did that/merge other skills to make room for it.
Very few classes have a way to tank 100% damage attacks.
I think an extra safety net is important. One based on skill rather than luck like Shade’s link.
Most classes can bypass the damage cap, but with only a single buff, and it only raises said cap by 10%, and even then only half the time.

On top of that, you may have forgotten that the level cap was raised, and i believe that was for a REASON.
So far, there is little reason to go even part of the distance to 250 apart from prestige, and to do full damage/accuracy on the few monsters and bosses who are over level 200

I don’t believe that 5th job will max out at 200, or at least, if it does, I believe that we’d get new hyper skills for 5th job past 200 (up until 250), the same way 4th job skills get hypers after they’re maxed at 140
To be wise, you have to be open minded, you have to accept things as they are, not as you want them to be.
You want everything to be edgy, but then, they were never really intended to be edgy.

So evan still starts out as KFC supplier chain slaveworker, Aran gets to be Mr.Tru’s lapdog while not pushed around by Lilin, Mercedes has a a stick in her rear, and luminous after an awesome start of torching a house in middle of nowhere and teaching snobs from ellnia what happens when you mess with the wrong guy goes soft, civilized and dangerously mercedes-like….

Luckily resistance characters suffer from no such story horrors:)

        • Dark Evan
          November 17, 2015 at 8:12 am

Cut it out. They’re heroes, not villains, not anti heroes.
Evan worked on a Pig Farm. They sold Pork.
And that was the kind of simple and peaceful life the Heroes were prepared to die for.
And it makes for a nice annecdote. A boy from nowhere with no future ahead of him, has a run-in with destiny and becomes a hero, a somebody, the sole heir to a centuries-old Legacy.
If they were to change ANYTHING about Evan’s story, the LAST thing I’d want to change is where the journey starts.
Aran’s just doing her best to do her part as a Hero
Lilin’s pushing her around so that she’ll be strong enough to do things herself. Without her memories, she needed a push.
On top of that, Tru’s business is in information dealing, he was litterally giving his merchandise away for free in the best interests of Maple World.
Because a fairy queen isn’t going to be stiff and regal.
Luminous wasn’t lashing out, he couldn’t control his new dark powers.
His stiff personality is his original/true persona, which is why he went back to it after learning to control the Darkness

And I like how you didn’t mention Shade/EunWol. Sure it was plenty dark enough for ya, but I doubted it was edgy enough.

actually i have one in the official version of the game. aran changes are HEAVY nerfs. my damage is lower across the board and the new 4th job skill is absolute garbage since it has to be used after another skill …

everything is unsatisfying when playing aran. still low defense, still low health and now they have no damage

You need to continuously mash attack for storm of fear, and for hunter targeting you need to hold the skill down. I have fairly low latency (~120ms) and I have horrendous issues with ctrl multi-tap sequences in KMS, so I can’t get storm out either, but I can get hunter targeting out with little issue.

As for the rest, they are old, Mercedes is over a couple hundred years.

      • Dark Evan
        November 18, 2015 at 2:10 pm

And Luminous is in his thirties, i think, minus the time he spent frozen.
He’d have to be a young adult, otherwise he’d show visible signs of aging during the decade or so he spent with Lania.
Visible as in, he would be taller, and such.
And if Evan’s the same height, as him, more or less, then he’d have to be at least a teenager, right?
Aran’s age seems to be in his thirties or forties.
Phantom ought to be close to Luminous in age. “They fight like brothers” -Shade
Shade, well, i wonder if he even ages in his current state of existence.

      November 18, 2015 at 7:48 pm

Seeing KMS’s recent trend of taking more away from a class then what they give in return, it would be best to leave Luminous the way it currently is.

question, if you have an Evan or Aran that exists prior the update that is past 4’th job, will you get all the level up boxes at once or can you only receive them when you hit that level in the update?

    • Max

You only receive the 2nd/3rd/4th job boxes if you actually do the advancement while the event is on. If you already are 4th job you won’t get them.

    Hello
I have question About the Evan dragon growth lvl of the revamp

    B4 revamp it was
    1st growth – lvl 10
    2nd growth – lvl 20
    3rd growth – lvl 30
    4th growth – lvl 50
    5th growth – lvl 80
    6th Final growth – lvl 120

My question is About the lvl 20(2nd growth) and lvl 50(4th growth)

The 5th growth changed from lvl 80 to 60(3rd advancement)
6th Final growth changed from lvl 120 to 100(4th advancement)

1st growth (lvl 10) and 3rd growth (lvl 30) stay the same
