MapleStory – Heroes of Maple: Act 0 – Freud, the Last Record
Nexon released a prologue video for the upcoming 2nd blockbuster of MapleStory, Heroes of Maple! It was a collaboration with a webtoons artist so the art style is different than MapleStory’s regular cinematics. (thanks to Spadow for the subtitles!)
There’s also a couple of new events regarding the new update.
The Heroes of Maple Pre-Registration event has begun and will run until December 1. You just have to log on the homepage and register your account for the event during this period.
Then, from December 3 to December 17, you have to log on in-game and complete Act 1 of the Heroes of Maple blockbuster to receive your prizes.
You’ll get the Heroes of Maple Prologue Box that contains a Heroes of Maple Life-Size Chair Box and 2 30 minute 2x Experience Coupons.
The box allows you to choose one of six Heroes of Maple Life-Size Chairs, featuring the updated illustrations of the six heroes.
Haha, EunWol couldn’t get E so he gets the ♡.
Also, the Heroes of Maple Update Celebration event has begun and will run until December 30.
There will be 2x experience every Wednesday and Saturday from December 5 to December 30, from 1~3pm and 7~9pm. It will also be held on December 24 and 25.
And there will be Fever Time for Scroll Traces from November 22 to December 27, every Sunday.

And so the debate about the real E between Evan and Eunwol ended here I guess
EunWol was the “Original E” because he was the original hero while Evan is only Freud’s successor. It’s not hard to figure out why EunWol isn’t “E” anymore since he doesn’t even “exist” anymore. You can say that he was replaced by Evan if you think about it. He’s still around, but it’s impossible for him to be part of the collective group (Or just part of the whole MAPLE thing) anymore if just forgets him.

No, Eunwol was NOT the “original E”. First, acting like Evan CAN’T be the “E” in MAPLE because he’s NOT one of the “original heroes” would be to say that Freud’s name would have to count because he IS one of the original heroes.
Is there an “F” for FREUD, in MAPLE? No, no there is NOT.
Besides, they were a ragtag group of heroes, they didn’t make codenames, their names just HAPPENED to spell out “MAPLE”, FATE brought them together, FATE decided that their names would spell out MAPLE, and FATE decided that the battle didn’t end 100’s of years ago, and since FATE decided that Freud’s successor would be Evan, and that EVAN would be the one there when the battle was OVER, EVAN is the one that matters, NOT FREUD, and since FIVE of the heroes have ENGLISH names that spell out the ENGLISH word “MAPLE”, and since EUNWOL’s name is the only one that is ACTUALLY KOREAN in KOREA, HE’S the odd man out.
On top of that, EunWol isn’t his real name. It was given to him by the POINTY EARED FOXES.
His REAL name, (the one HE USED hundreds of years ago, BEFORE being sacrificed), is unknown, but has a 25 in 26 chance of starting with something OTHER than “E”
Guess what? Since EunWol didn’t even go by the name EunWol until AFTER Evan was born, grew into a teenager, and became a Hero, that means Evan has TECHNICALLY been going by a name that starts with “E”, LONGER than EunWol has been, with more than 96% probability!
26 letters, we have NO CLUE what EunWol’s real name was, so there is only a 1 in 26 chance that said name started with an “E”, and a 25 in 26 chance that said name started with a DIFFERENT LETTER.
Guess what else?
The word MAPLE is an ENGLISH word, and the names ONLY spell it out when you ROMANIZE them. (use the English alphabet)
Mercedes’ name is IN ENGLISH (German in origin, but…)
Aran’s name is IN ENGLISH (well, pronounced like 1 of 2 ENGLISH names by korean commercials: Aaron, or Erin, or like the unusual surname, Aran [as in SAMUS Aran])
Phantom’s name is a word IN ENGLISH (well, it’s adopted from french, but i believe it only starts with a “P” in the ENGLISH LANGUAGE, that is also used in American English)
Luminous’s name is a word IN ENGLISH
Evan is a COMMON boy’s name IN ENGLISH
EunWol is a phrase in ENGLI- oh wait, actually, it’s KOREAN.
MAPLE is English, Mercedes is in English, Aran is a localization of one of 2 english names, as well as a surname (Samus Aran), all the names spell out MAPLE using the ROMAN Alphabet and all derived from languages that ALSO use the Roman Alphabet, and in MOST cases ENGLISH specifically, and in ALL cases, use the ENGLISH spelling, EXCEPT EunWol.
Guess what? Fate brought them together, not their names. Fate also caused them to leave Freud behind in history, and join Evan in the PRESENT.
There doesn’t need to be an “original E”, there only needs to be a “FINAL E”, because the Fateful battle HASN’T STARTED YET.
And EunWol isn’t his real name, it wasn’t the name he used when he fought alongside the heroes, and therefore, he cannot be the “Original E” any more than Evan can, since the Forgotten Hero wasn’t ressurected into the being (or non-being) named EunWol, until AFTER Freud reincarnated into the being named Evan.

Since his name isn’t in English, (and cause his name was erased), could his name be the space between MAPLE and Story? Cause, you know, the first letter of his name isn’t an English letter, and cause his name was erased from everything.

Eunwol can’t be the original “E” because that wasn’t even his real name, that was the name moonbeam gave to him which actually means “Hidden moon” because he couldn’t even remember his real name, and as such his name is different in every region he is released in (and every region gives their interpretation of or translation of “Hidden moon”)
Fate decided there will be 5 heroes. Time sneezed, leaving a tear in time. Fate decided to just make another hero by mending the patch in Time’s boxers.
Wait, Freud was still alive?!?
Afrien took the curse for Freud. We know Freud spent his time after the fight with the Black Mage preparing things as well. Also, Dragon ring event had this backstory of Freud’s aftermath of the Black Mage fight as well.
Oh, and the video says “100 years later” before showing Evan, in case you missed that, so Freud probably isn’t alive anymore at the present timeline.

It’s probably a combination of the different artstyle plus it being an attempt at being a full animation that’s making it look bad.

Of course not, we knew this blockbuster was coming next. 5th job will reach KMS in the next 6 months though, I bet, but I won’t promise to eat my shirt if I’m wrong.
I think KMS is revamping older areas before they release 5th job. Personally my prediction is that we’ll see a 2D skeleton Balrog before we see 5th job.
Keep waiting, I waited for this update for years before 5th job was even announced, it’ll happen with time.

Regarding the cinematic: why does Freud look kinda feminine? they got Evan alright but Freud looks weird.

Here’s my thoughts-
1. This new animation really doesn’t fit. I get that they don’t want the heroes to be diminished in quality by being too chibi(Look at Eunwol’s trailer, he almost looks like a doll a child could play with) but at the same time, it ruins the quality because it isn’t as true to the ingame designs of the characters. That’s why people aren’t liking it- previous installments of animations were made to correspond closely to the ingame quality.
2. Still revealing no connections with Damien, which we know he is in this blockbuster thanks to Black Heaven’s ending hinting at it. I’m surprised at this, but maybe it’s part of a plot that would be spoiled if they mentioned how he is involved. Which would make a serious storytelling probe. Way to go Nexon, you just might lose some luster on the quality of the story now.
3. I like how we get only a chair and expirable exp coupons from the pre-registration for this blockbuster, whereas in black heaven it was all the good stuff- character slot extension, an android, and exp coupon box that doesn’t expire. What a letdown. At least the chair is nice, and I think they will provide a way to get the other chairs during the event. Otherwise, a collector’s nightmare of only getting one in a set.

4. I like how they decided to revamp some of the classes first, THEN introduce a blockbuster.(provided that they don’t revamp the other heroes)(Nerf Lumi! -just kidding) During Black Heaven, it was a mess, having so many events all at once, then jumping right into the anniversary and summer events. This simplifies the experience of the game, and allows people to focus on the blockbuster. Though seeing as KMS is getting this in December, and GMS standards usually have these things within a six month time span, that doesn’t bode well with the anniversary event being in that time frame, unless GMS tries to accelerate it into the spring, like with Black Heaven. But even that will result in the same ‘squeezing in the events.’ Joy.
In short, all this pre-stuff to this event just looks silly. Bring on the main event!
I really hope you’re just kidding about point 2. Because it’s revealed in the video that Damien is the wolf who swallowed the world tree.Go look at Damien’s eyepatch. Then watch the video. It’s incredibly, painfully obvious he’ll be involved in the story of the new blockbuster. I don’t know how you missed it, and have the gall to complain about it afterwards. They made an explicit point to show off the insignia.
it’s even more obvious if you bothered to pay attention to the storyline when doing the Rootabyss story quests… but who cares about the lore in game..
Thanks, I actually didn’t see the connection. I really didn’t pay attention to the symbol on his eye patch before, but it makes sense now. And please don’t say that it was painfully obvious, because it really wouldn’t be unless you paid attention to such small details.
I also still have a right to talk, don’t deny my right to speak. ‘Gall,’ has nothing to do with it. Who goes out of their way to memorize a SYMBOL on an EYEPATCH of a character that only has any significance in the past 3-4 years, with very few pictures or details about him even then? I clearly didn’t. The story still has the problem of explaining what this has to do with the heroes… but Freud’s involvement leaves an opening for that now.
I apologize to you for having to experience your worst nightmares of Hell itself for what appears to be so ‘painfully obvious’ to you. I missed a small detail. Get over yourself.
His insignia is also on the spider he created to attack collossus. Plus, it’s GLOWING. I think that’s obvious enough.
And the eyepatch itself. Eyes are terrifying, the idea of missing one of them particularily, on a psychological level, so it should be the FIRST thing you’d notice, and it should leave the biggest impression on you.
On top of that, everyone refers to him as the “demon/guy with an eyepatch”, meaning that’s intended to be his iconic feature, and the fact that you didn’t even show the slightest bit of recognition of the symbol, not even enough to consider that Damien’s Right eye was covered in an eyepatch with “a symbol on it”, and that only the right eye of the wolf is visible, with a familiar looking mark, and attempt to cross reference it.
You should’ve at least noticed the symbol on his eyepatch subconsciously, but you clearly didn’t.
On top of that World Tree. Root Abyss sound familiar? Or even how Damien attacked Ereve and killed Shinsoo as seen in the Cygnus returns video, after the World Tree took refuge there at the conclusion of Root Abyss? He’s constantly waging war on forces of nature.
My point about the psychological bit, is that you don’t HAVE to go out of your way to memorize it, your subconscious ought to do it automatically.
Even if you glanced at him for a just a second, the eyepatch would probably be the only thing you remember about his appearance in a few hours
You should have thought it familiar at the very least, and from there, try to make a connection
And if you saw him at least twice in the past year, your subconscious would probably recognize said information as significant.
