Not everything was included in KMST but otherwise, I’ll go more into detail about everything while translating the patch notes.
Tenebris Expedition
To defeat the Black Mage, the journey of destiny begins.
- Characters level 61 or higher can move to the Maple Alliance’s outpost by accepting the quest “[Black Mage] Impending Time of Destiny”. You can then become a member of the Maple Alliance by completing the “[Black Mage] Resolve with Cygnus” quest.
- NOTE: This quest line states that it takes place after the level 235 story at Esfera, but you can participate without completing that quest line.
- Every time you complete an Alliance Mission, you will gather more Desire to save the world.
- After the update, the defense mission <Scattered Desire> and the change in Maple World <Alliance’s Support> will be added. Later updates will add much more content.
- Characters who complete the “[Black Mage] Resolve with Cygnus” quest will automatically complete the “[Black Mage] Gathering at the Outpost” quest. Other characters level 61 or higher in the same world will be able to complete the quest as well.
I’ll try and summarize what the beginning quests are. Basically, it’s what was shown in Gathering of Heroes video above. The Maple Alliance is preparing for their final fight against the Black Mage. A new outpost atop Ereb is their new base.
Here, you’ll join the Alliance (I guess a second time) and be given an Alliance Rank! As you complete more missions, your rank will increase. Currently I don’t know how you can actually check it or how to increase it specifically lol. It also shows a small insignia beside your character name.
In the future, there will be an Alliance Supply, which will give you special items as your rank increases. There will also be Alliance Skills which give you special stats and bonuses.
In addition, the Desire gauge will appear in the bottom right part of your screen. This is the main goal of the Alliance, to gather Desire and power up the holy light in the outpost to be able to fight the Black Mage. You can collect up to 10,000 Desire per day.
Currently, there is only a couple of ways to collect Desire.
The defense mission <Scattered Desire> has been added.
- Helena will give you the Embers of Desire, which you can use to install in a map with monsters around your level range.
- After the Embers are installed, for 10 minutes, you will receive goals to collect certain numbers of Desire Fragments of Courage, Desire Fragments of Peace, and Desire Fragments of Hope.
- Within the time limit, you can return to the Embers and transfer your Desire Fragments to activate a powerful explosion to attack enemies and gain Desire.
- The Desire transfer can be done up to 10 times, and the amount of Desire acquired will be different each time.
- The installed Embers of Desire will automatically disappear if you leave the map or log off, but you can reinstall it if you have remaining Desire for the day.
- There is a cooldown of 5 minutes after installing it.
- If you have lost your Embers of Desire, you can re-receive it through the quest “[Alliance Mission] Embers of Desire”.
The change of Maple World <Alliance’s Support> has been added.
- When an Elite Monster is defeated, the character who dealt the most damage will receive Alliance Support for 30 seconds.
- You will receive one of: troop support, bombardment support, and airship support, to help you in combat.
- After defeating an Elite Monster, you will receive 100 Desire. However, if you have reached your daily limit, you will no longer receive Desire.

Similarly how Mega is a prefix meaning 1,000,000, i believe its supposed to be Tera burning, not Terra burning, as Tera is a prefix meaning 1,000,000,000,000
Ooh good point, I’ll change it 🙂
Thanks for the update Max! I do have a couple questions:
For Wind Archer’s Spiraling Vortex, do you have the specific number changes?
And for the new medals added, do you know which areas they all cover? Some of them are obvious, but which ones are the “How to Be Fresh” and “The One Chasing Risks”?
Yeah I wasn’t at home so I haven’t been able to work on the post but I’m starting now, will include that information as I get to it!
Awesome, thank you!
Can’t seem to find the range information for Spiral Vortex :S
From what i heard they increased the range by 10x in both directions (up and down) and considering how awful the range of that skill is this actually makes sense.
So… Anyone knows why Battlemage use Shelter to bind “black mage” in Grim Reaper? is there only me thinking deleting the effect of purple shelter will make it more nice looking?
Thanks, Max! Any info on those orbs shown in the trailer? It seems they’re a large part of the new blockbuster
Not sure, haven’t gone in game yet but I think they have to do with this new “Desire” collection.
Terra Burning is same like burnning char? only 1 event 1 char? or can create many ?
Same restrictions as regular burning I believe.
Omg!!! why they nerf shadower’s eviscerate so much!!! 4 seconds more is too much!! hope they don’t nerf that much in the released version!! Thanks max for your hard work, do you have the skill dmg% and stats of the new 5th job skills?
Will start adding them now!
Thanks a lot <3333333
waiting for BT revamp and new 5th job skills …….
WOW
How does combo instinct work? It uses the combo numbers from killing monsters? If that’s the case it’s kind of unusuable at bosses @.@
Combo counters means combo orbs.
It uses Hero’s Combo Orb system.
“Serpent Screw: Energy consumption has been changed from 100 when charged/110 when uncharged to 85 Energy regardless of charge status, boss monster energy consumption reduction has been increased from 60% to 80%, this skill now consumes 100 Energy per second regardless of attack”
RIP Vipers, it was fun while it lasted.
Aran new skill will give that job a really good boost in dps
Wow… Bishop’s skill is… GARBAGE. This is beyond useless. AR heals the user and their party slightly, too. Plus deals a lot more damage to the enemy. If healing is what you’re after just use “Heal”, it has about the same cooldown, give or take a second. This is… just terrible.
Maybe.. Just maybe peacemaker can be used when RI is on.. if it’s not the case then it’s totally useless …
It totally sucks regardless
The new Bishop skill might as well be a 3rd or 4th job skill honestly. Doesn’t have the 5th job feel to it at all.
AR attack speed seems faster.. unless they made it auto like TB or shade skill.. or have no slow AF animation i dont see any point to even use it…
Does Irkalla’s Breath work with the Mercedes “Shadow Partner”? (forgot the name of the skill) also does it work with Final Attack or is it like Marksmen new 5th skill?
It does work with Final Attack, not sure about Elemental Ghost.
in test server
it can’t work with Final Attack
and can’t create shadows
i think it’s just bug, nexon will fix it
Fun fact about the Ice/Lightning one: it’s based on an NPC from El Nath’s Snowman questline (the yeti boss)
It’s also the mother of the Snowman boss based on the lore of that quest.
•Final chapter of Arcane River, Tenebris
any info of this? Is this part of blockbuster
or what level can I enter ?
No information yet
Waiting Sengoku class patch info
*sobbing st the corner*
Gonna have to wait until November, since KMS doesn’t have Sengoku classes, BT, or Jett.
mihile’s only does 6 lines??? NANI
Welcome to Mihile, where things don’t do enough lines or hit enough mobs 😦
Bam’s new skill is kind of useless. Deal damage per 5 secs, it means 30 secs only attack 6 times. And The Grim Reaper’s duration will be increased by 0.2 seconds per hit on a boss monster. Seriously? The Cooldown is so long. Look at Lumi’s, use Absolute Kill 12 times can reset the Baptism of Light and Darkness’ cooldown, it’s insane.
Come on, you can use it mobbing. once you killed all the 10 monsters each time, this skill would extend to 42 sec. errrr… but wait, does anyone have said the number of killings or hits is limited to Grim Reaper instead of all BaM’s skills?
okay, this video has comfirmed that ONLY Grim Reaper hits count for its duration extension. RIP BaM. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UzFfDyEWJ8
Watch this Lumi’s video, and check the battle statistics in the end, you’ll the know the new skill’s damage is crazy.
Sorry, wrong link, this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqlMUVpx5HU
DK is literally Fate’s Lancer reference now. 2 skills lol
Hi Max,
Does Aran’s Fenrir Crash add to the combo system like Beyond Blade? Since its part of Beyond Blade and not part of it, I assume it would but can you find out for me, thx.
Not too sure, can’t test it either since I don’t have an Aran. Someone on Reddit posted a bunch of videos so maybe you can watch one and check yourself: https://www.reddit.com/r/Maplestory/comments/8rirek/new_5th_job_skills_compilation/
It does not; maybe it will before it hits live server.
Thanks PIrateIzzy, good job on the wiki btw.
Does anybody know why evan skill cannot crit? They dint say in the description that it cannot crit… Yet all the video containing evan trying out the 3rd V cant crit
Because it just doesn’t, much like Kanna’s skill.
Does Attack Speed boosts affect Kinesis’ Ultimate – Psychic Bullet?
In these two videos, the player has Decent Speed Infusion. But is it true that attack speed does work on Psychic Bullet?
Psychic Bullet seems like its just an upgrade to Psychic Shot, so it probably shares whatever attack speed mechanics that skill has.
So what exactly is True Hilla? Is it a new boss mode of Hilla or a whole new boss?
True Hilla is going to be a new boss, where Hilla has received more power from the Black Mage. It’s gonna be in Tenebris’ second area, the Labyrinth of Pain.
Any info or pictures of True Hilla out yet?
There is currently none, besides the teaser image they showed in the Video.
Max, are you able to confirm if Grand Cross only activates when the skill key is held down? Also any idea how fast this skill hits or if it’s duplicated by the Pally’s link char?
Yep it only works while you hold the skill key down. You can see a video of it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Maplestory/comments/8rirek/new_5th_job_skills_compilation/
Demon Avenger still so noob?
It call demon but skill is sword? Haha. Got CD too
Others job’s skill so cool. At least can hit full map
Demon Avenger still need use 3rd job skill for training
skill descriptions for adventurer pirates / ab / ark are missing.
Was a work in progress, all of them should be up now!
Phantom’s new 5th is so underwhelming… apparently needs to hit with Cane skills( so Ace in the Whole, Joker and Tempest don’t count) to receive stack, but the stacks doesn’t give any buff or extra effects, Mark of the Phantom debuff is simply an indicator for who you will teleport to after using the skill( at least according to the translation here). All that, for an instant teleport that can be used once every 30s and some extra damage
Yeah im so disappointed with phantoms new 5th job, wtf is the whole purpose of this skill… would have been better if the stacks actually did something, like increase dmg or lower enemies defense by some %. Meanwhile, mercedes gets a 5 line huricane, paladins get a skill that deals so much dmg( basically a huricane skill), like WTF.
Xenon really got screwed over on the new skill. Short duration, long cooldown, can’t stack with the normal Hologram. Even the damage is bad. Maxed boost nodes Hologram would be just barely weaker than the V skill at lv30, but without the insane cooldown. It should have been a passive upgrade to Hologram… Isn’t not even worth maxing.
Probably meant to be used in sync with Core Overload to charge up your Final Damage faster.
Huh- I haven’t considered that. I still don’t think it’s enough to make it worth using but it’s a neat synergy.
Max, can you check shadower’s skill again? 3 seconds burst?? it’s not even a burst with so short duration wtf… and damage is bad, 400% 7 times !!
Yep that’s the skill 😛
Hey max, could you double check the translation for hero’s combo instinct ? I recall reading about a -80% combo recharge rate on early leaked pics of the skill, unless that’s been removed now.
Thanks!
Oops you’re right I completely missed that line! Thanks.
Damn, dood. Alucard, I mean, Demon Avenger finally gets Sword Familiar.
All the cooldowns are still lame though.
Does Charged Arrow’s cooldown activate on use or after charging?
It starts when you actually fire the arrow
Hey Max! Aran skill doesnt give combo points apparently, so thats a bug, right?… how can i report it even tho im not on kmst lol… i just dont want aran to get more nerfs then they already have
so im a bit confuse about the collecting desire mission, i saw a few videos on youtube, and you can collect up to 10,000 a day i think, but what is it for ?
I’m trying it out right now, will add more details soon!
Hello, what does this mean: Mark of Night Lord: your Stars’ attack now applies to this skill
Presumably, it means that the skill will be doing more damage if you’re using Ilbi throwing stars with its innate +27 attack as opposed to Subi throwing stars with +15.
Yeah the patch notes imply it wasn’t taking into account the attack bonus from your stars before.
Is this a cross on my Christian Minecraf server?
How do you feel about the bowmaster skill? It seems weak in overall use
Sorta disappointed! Using all of the arrowheads at the same time is pretty underwhelming as it’s basically only the magic arrows + drain arrows that are useful, and the flame arrows don’t seem to be very strong. Plus it’s a 30s duration with a long af cooldown 😦
This is all I needed to see,
1280×720 Thank god!
End of Arcane River….Thank you….I already feel like I am going to be stuck there for the rest of my life leveling up symbols and nodes
Turning Esklade into a cute dragon….Now I have all I need to do a fan animation…Also I love these effects
https://orangemushroom.files.wordpress.com/2018/06/mascot-familiar-effect.gif?w=1200&h=
Hilla?….Oh boy….Just when I got done taking down hard Hilla…A new one is coming….Hoo boy….
Node skill stones for dailys….That’s really nice
I await this content in the future
Mercedes looks underwhelming. 8.5sec for 120sec cd? That’s so bad. From what I heard, it doesn’t trigger final attack or archimage, so this skill is garbage. Hope they fix the skill.
It’s basically a Hyperskill with that honestly.
Isit me or does captain/pala/xbow/hero seem to have OP-ed 3rd V comapared to the rest?
Thanks for the post max!
Also I liked the translator notes
my fav this patch is betatest 1920×1080 ❤
seriously may i know why they keep nerfing ice lightning mage?
Most of classes playing in KMS
Hi max,
The draco slasher there write that the its number of hit increased by 2x. So, it is increase by +2 or times 2?
Doubled
it mean doubled the number?
This is a new Blockbuster?
Arcane river Tenebris there are three new maps?
No confirmation on whether or not it’s going to be a blockbuster but yes, Tenebris is the final region of Arcane River, and is going to be split into 3 different areas (Moon Bridge, Labyrinth of Pain, Limen)
is “Combo Instinct” just plainly +17% Fdmg(etc.) at all or 17% per one combo orb ?
How come we bishops always get the garbage stuff while other mages get the good stuff? I don’t like my favorite class to be treated as the end of the stick 😢
Also, why in the holy mother of crap would they change the holy magic shell cooldown hyper skill? Now it’s either going to be barely useable or just another junk to the collection. So much for dodging 1 hit KO screen attack.
Marksman’s Charged Arrow can be focused while using other skills. If you focus up to 8 seconds, you deal 1200% damage 7 times = 8400% damage every 8 seconds.
Cooldown of 8 seconds. This is insane.
Hey max, can someone tell me if the Viper nerf is bad? I might plan to switch over to Zero / Aran but I’m still considering.
Dark Knight got shafted hard this patch:/
Pierce cyclone may look badass, until you check out it’s cooldown – 3 minutes!! Wth?
I had my doubts about this skill from the start (why so powerful? Won’t it make gungnir obsolete for bossing?) but this is not the way to keep it’s power in check.
Freaking ultimates have 30s cooldowns. And Dark Knight is not a class of large cooldowns to begin with (save hyper buff)
