KMS ver. 1.2.402 – Skill/UI Changes & MapleStory’s 22nd Anniversary: Maple University!

The MapleStory’s 22nd Anniversary: Maple University event has begun! It’s honestly a little barebones but Changseop said to look forward to the second half in May as they will be adding more. Of course, this patch contains the skill balancing (with additional changes from KMST), the UI reorganization, the new Maple Home system, the updated MVP system, and more.
The next live server patch is on May 21 so we can expect a KMST patch on May 14. They said in the Maple Now that it wouldn’t be as big as this patch, but I’m sure it will still have some interesting content.

Maple Home
Decorate your own home beautifully with Maple Home!
Maple Home Creation:
- Characters level 260 or higher that have completed the ‘[The Day After] After That Day’ quest can complete the ‘[Maple Home] Spiegelmann’s Super Gift to create a Maple Home.
- Before going to your Maple Home for the first time, you can complete the Maple Home tutorial.
※ You can skip the tutorial by pressing the ‘No’ button in the menu when asked if you want to proceed with the tutorial.
Entering My Maple Home
You can enter Maple Home on any of your characters level 101 or higher (Zero characters must complete Chapter 2) if a Maple Home has been created within that world.
You can enter My Maple Home through the Full Menu/Adventure/Maple Home button.
Maple Home Invites and Visitor Permissions
You can right-click a character in the same map as you and click the Invite to Maple Home button to invite that character to your home.
You can right-click on a character name in the Buddy/Party list or Guild/Alliance Member list and click the Invite to Maple Home button to invite that character to your home.
You can click the Invite button in your home and input a character name to invite that character to your home.
You can set the permissions for who can visit your Maple Home by clicking the Maple Home Settings button at the top of your home.
※ If you don’t select anything, players can only visit your home through an invitation.
Maple Home Visiting
You can visit other characters’ Maple Homes on a character level 101 or higher (Zero characters must complete Chapter 2).
You can right-click a character in the same map as you and click the Visit Maple Home button in the menu to visit that character’s Maple Home.
You can right-click a character name in the Buddy/Party list or Guild/Alliance Member list and click the Visit Maple Home button in the menu to visit that character’s Maple Home.
※ You can only visit the Maple Homes of buddies that are currently online in the Buddy List.
You can click the Enter Maple Home button at the top right of other characters’ Character Info to visit that character’s Maple Home.
You can click the Visit button in your home and input a character name to visit that character’s home.
※ You cannot enter the Maple Home of a character that has not created a Maple Home.
※ You can only visit the Maple Home of a character that has invited you or has allowed visitors.
Maple Home Management
You can open the Maple Home Management menu through the blue button in the Maple Home top menu bar.
You can perform the following actions in the Building Management menu.
- You can change your Maple Home’s theme, and change the layout of the floors and stairs.
- You can click on the grid to install or remove platforms in your desired locations.
- You can change your Maple Home’s roof, windows, exterior walls, interior walls, and platforms’ designs.
You can perform the following actions in the Furniture Management menu.
- You can check and place furniture that you own.
- You can add furniture to your Favourites list by clicking the icon in the top right. You can then check the Favourites tab to see the furniture you added.
- If you activate Free Placement, you can place furniture regardless of the grid layout.
You can perform the following actions in the Placed Furniture menu.
- You can select placed furniture by clicking on them in the list.
- You can remove placed furniture by clicking on the X button.
You can perform the following actions when you select placed furniture in the Maple Home Management menu.
- You can click the Move Furniture button to move it to your desired location.
- You can click the Flip Furniture Horizontally button to flip the furniture left or right.
- You can click the Copy Furniture button to place one more copy of the selected furniture.
- You can click the Furniture To the Front/Back button to adjust the alignment between overlapping furniture.
※ Certain furniture has a limit on the number of times they can be placed, so you cannot copy them past that limit.
Maple Home Photo Mode
You can enter Photo Mode by clicking the Maple Home Photo Mode button in the Maple Home top menu bar.
In Photo Mode, you can see your entire Maple Home at a glance.

When you first create your Maple Home, you can receive all currently available furniture rewards in bulk through the Light Bulb above your head or the ‘Maple Home Guide’ menu.
UI Reorganization
Login Process
Common
- The login screen’s minimum resolution has been changed to 1366*768.
- The login BGM’s default volume has been changed to 50%.
Fast Login Feature
- If you have a character designated as your Favourite, you can instantly login to that character from the World Select screen.
- If you don’t have a character designated as your Favourite, you can easily login to the character you were last logged in to.
※ You can designate 1 character per Maple ID as your favourite.
※ You can designate a favourite character through the Character Info or the Character Management window on the Character Select screen.
※ If your favourite character World Leaps, you must designate a favourite character again.
World Select Screen


- It has been improved so that you can check event worlds’ operation information and worlds that provide cross world content.
- It has been improved so that you can check the number of characters you have per world.
Character Select Screen
- It has been improved so that you can easily find and change character locations through the Character Management window.
- When trying to delete a character, the reasons for not being able to delete a character will now be displayed together with the guide message.
- A feature to set the Character Select screen’s theme has been added.
Character Creation Screen


- The job introductions have been changed to include each job’s illustration and movement method.
- A feature to filter the jobs based on their class has been added.
Character Creation Settings Screen
- You can now choose your character’s name, gender, and appearance all at once.
- A character name tag has been added below the character so you can preview the character name.
Security Settings
- You can now set a 2nd password and Nexon OTP settings together.
- A feature to check the 2nd password you have inputted has been added.
Main UI
Character Status Window UI
- The character’s level and name display location has been changed to the bottom left corner of the screen.
- The HP/MP Gauge and the numerical display numbers’ sizes have been increased for better visibility.
Full Menu UI
- The ‘Full Menu’ feature has been added that lets you check all of the system features within the game.
- You can open it by using the ‘Menu’ hotkey or clicking the button in the Quick Menu.
Quick Menu
- The Menu buttons on the right side of the current character status window have been removed, and the Quick Menu has been added.
- You can edit the Quick Menu through the Full Menu’s Edit Mode feature, and you can register up to 8 buttons.
Quick Slots
- When you hover over a Quick Slot, the Quick Slots Settings button and the Quick Slots Lock button will be displayed in the upper right corner.
- The Display Number Setting option has been added to the Quick Slots Settings. You can set it to a show a minimum of 4×2 to a maximum of 16×2 using the + and – buttons.
- The Display Default option has been added to the Quick Slots Settings. You can set the Quick Slots’ display location using the Left or Right buttons.
- The Quick Slots Lock feature has been added. When the Quick Slots Lock is set, buttons registered to Quick Slots cannot be dragged and will not be removed even if you right-click them.
Equipment Window
The equipment window has been reorganized into a UI that lets you manage equipment items, pets, Symbol items, and Title/Medal appearances.
※ Zero characters can also use the Weapon Enhancement tab.
It has been improved so that the HP/MP values related to Pet Auto Pot usage and the ‘Pet Auto Pot used when HP is consumed by skills’ option which were previously in the existing Options UI can now be set in the Pet tab.
※ If there were values set in the existing Options UI, the same values will be applied in the Pet tab.
The method of registering items to the Appearance slots in the Title/Medal UI has been changed to ‘drag and drop’.
Cosmetics Window
The Cosmetics window has been reorganized into a UI that lets you manage outfit items, outfit presets, Androids, Damage Skins, and Beauty Rooms.
※ A ‘Cosmetics’ hotkey has been added that can open the Cosmetics Window.
- It has been improved so that the Beauty Room’s Hair, Face, and Skin tab buttons now display the number of Mannequins in use and the number of Mannequins available.
- It has been improved so that the Beauty Room’s mix hair and mix faces’ colour ratio values are now displayed.
Inventory


The inventory’s Cosmetics tab has been expanded to 256 slots.
- The Expand Inventory Cosmetics Tab feature has been added so you can see and organize all 256 slots at a glance.
The Cosmetics Item Filter feature has been added.
- The Cosmetics Item Filter feature lets you filter Cosmetics items by equipment type or tier (such as Master Label, Special Label, Red Label, or Black Label).
- When you apply a filter, actions such as changing the item sort order, auto-sorting, or locking item sorting are restricted.
- The Cosmetics Item Filter feature cannot be used when the inventory is minimized.
The Cosmetics Items Special Set Sort feature has been added.
- The Auto Sort feature has been added that lets you sort Cosmetics items that have set effects.
- The Special Set Sort feature’s sort oder is as follows.
- Sort the same set items among Master Label rank Cosmetics items, in order of hat/overall/shoes/cape/weapon.
- Sort the same set items among Special/Red/Black Label rank Cosmetics items, in order of hat/overall/shoes/cape/weapon.
- Sort the same set items among other Cosmetics item sets with set effects, in order of hat/overall/shoes/cape/weapon.
- Sort items without set effects at the end without any set rules.
The Inventory Search feature has been added.
- You can search for items in your inventory that contain the search term.
- When you enter more than one character in the Search input window, items in your current inventory that contain those characters in their names will be displayed in an auto-complete list.
- The Inventory Search feature cannot be used when the inventory is minimized.
Equipment, Bags, and Shop buttons have been added to the inventory.
- You can click the Bags button to open the new unified Bags UI.
- You can only use the Store UI through the inventory if you have an Android equipped.
The Item Disassembly and Fusion UIs have been unified into one UI.
- You can now also use the Item Disassembly and Fusion features through the inventory in towns.
The Inventory Slot Expansion UI has been added.
- The Slot Expansion button is displayed in categories where your slots are not fully expanded.
- You can see if you have any Slot Expansion items that you can use currently in your inventory, or go to the Cash Shop to buy Slot Expansions.
The name of Toad’s Hammer has been changed to Equipment Succession.
Bags UI Reorganization
The Bags UI has been reorganized into a unified UI where you can manage all your bags at once.
- You can manage Recipes, Souls, Scrolls, Chairs, Minerals, Herbs, Crafting Items, Coin Bags, and Title Wallets in a single UI.
- However, Party Quest Only Bags and Albums are not included in the Bags UI.
- You can use the unified Bags UI by clicking the Bags button in the inventory or by double-clicking a Bag item you are using.
※ You can now use up to 5 Mineral, Herb, and Crafting Material bags.
※ You can now use up to 5 duplicate Party Quest Only Bags.
Enhancement System Reorganization
Common
- Certain enhancement system names have been changed to more intuitive names.
- Upgrades → Scrolls
- Equipment Transfer → Trace Transfer
- The name of the destruction situation that leaves no Equipment Trace will be distinguished as ‘Vanish’.
- Various items below level 20 can no longer be enhanced.
Star Force
- The Star Catcher minigame’s difficulty will no longer change based on the number of enhancement attempts.
- The Star Catcher minigame’s star movement speed has been increased by about 25%.
- It has been improved so that you can use the Star Force enhancement feature even if the Scroll Enhancements are not fully completed.
※ When using Toad’s Hammer and there are Scroll Slots left, the feature where 100% scroll effects would be applied has been removed.
Scrolls (Previous Name: Upgrades)
- The names of items related to enhancements have been changed to match the enhancement system name change.
- The names of items that affect scroll enhancements will be unified to use ‘주문서’ (‘scroll’ in Korean).
- The names of items that don’t affect scroll enhancements will be unified to use ‘스크롤’ (‘scroll’ in Konglish).
- The Golden Hammer system has been removed.
- Items that could have Golden Hammers be used on it but did not already will have their number of available Scroll usages increased by 1.
- Items acquired after this update will be set to have the number of available Scroll usages based on already having had a Golden Hammer used on them.
- For Golden Hammers you currently have, you can acquire Spell Traces based on their success rate.
- Golden Hammers can no longer be acquired from Superior Hunter’s Pouch, Intermediate Hunter’s Pouch, or Monster Park Tuesday/Saturday Boxes. The number or chances of acquiring Spell Traces have been increased.
- Golden Hammers can no longer be acquired from Gold Apples or Gold Apple Fragments.

- The Dominator Pendant will no longer vanish if you fail an enhancement using a Fragment of Twisted Time.
Bonus Stats
- The Bonus Stats “Rank” concept’s name has been changed to “Stage”.
- The level 100~150 Rebirth Flames that could be used on equipment without Bonus Stats will be discontinued.
- You can no longer acquire level 100~150 Rebirth Flames. Level 100~150 Rebirth Flames that could be acquired from bosses will be replaced with Rebirth Fragments.
- You can no longer use level 100~150 Rebirth Flames that you already have. However, you can still acquire Rebirth Fragments by disassembling them like before.
Potential/Additional Potential
- The sealed stats status when potential is first granted to an item has been removed. It has been improved so that you can check the stats that are set upon granting potential.
- For existing sealed items, their stats will be revealed.
Soul Weapon
- The level limit for weapons that Soul Enchanter items can be used on has been removed.
- The level limit for weapons that Soul items can be used on has been removed.

A feature has been added that lets you skip unwanted enhancement cutscenes (certain cutscenes cannot be skipped).
A feature has been added that lets you use Return Scrolls, Protect Shields, Recovery Shields, and Safety Shields together when using various scrolls or certain Star Force related goods.
A feature has been added for MVP Gold and higher where if you use Bonus Stats/Potential/Additional Potential resets that save the previous stats, you can perform the function 3 times at once.
The Craftsman’s Soul skill has been removed and the related quests can no longer be completed.
Item Stats Reorganization
The concept of item quality has been removed.
The required stats when equipping items have been removed.
The Durability system, except for mining and harvesting tools, has been removed.
The ‘chance to knockback enemies when directly hitting with the bow/crossbow/Ancient Bow’ stat has been removed.
The ‘skill level increase’ stat that remained in certain set effects has been removed, and will instead give ‘+5 all stats’.

Certain item descriptions have been removed, and the tooltips have been improved so allow quicker understanding of item stats.
Equipment Tooltip Reorganization
Various stat information has been rearranged or added to group similar information together for easier understanding.
- Enhancement summary, item name
- Combat Power increase, item type, equip requirements
- Set information, skills available when equipped, growth level information
- Base stats (including Star Force, Scrolls, and Bonus Stats increases)
- Item description
- Enhancement information (Star Force, Scrolls, Bonus Stats, Potential, Additional Potential)
- Additional enhancement information (Souls, Exceptional)
- Tradability, other restrictions, expiry information
The enhancement levels of the Scroll enhancements, Bonus Stats, potential, and additional potential will be displayed at the top of the tooltip.
If the Star Force enhancement is 23 stars or higher, a fancy effect will be added to the top of the tooltip.
It has been improved so that currently equipped items will display ‘Currently equipped item’ instead of the Combat Power increase.
The sum of all Bonus Stats’ stats’ stages will be displayed.
The details of each Bonus Stats’ stats will be displayed.
The stage of each Bonus Stats’ stats will be displayed.
The tier of each potential and additional potential line will be displayed.
Soul Charge related information will no longer be displayed in the tooltip. It has been moved to the Soul Weapon UI.
It has been improved so that the list of equipped items in the Set Item list will be located at the top.
The set effect tooltip visibility has been improved.
The Lucky item effect tooltip visibility has been improved.
It has been improved so that if a tooltip is cut off by the resolution limit, it will be split and displayed to the right.
Pet Tooltip Reorganization


It has been improved so that pet items’ tooltips now display the level, hunger, and closeness values.
It has been improved so that you can right-click on pets to check their pet skills.
Alert System Reorganization
The icons on the left side of the screen have been changed so that you can only check important information.
- The Mileage Benefit icon has been removed. The submenu will be changed so that it can be used from another path.
- The Premium PC Room icon has been added. It will only be displayed while you are in a Premium PC Room and you can click it to see the PC Room benefits window.
- You can check the Premium PC Room Login event through the Event List.
- The Potential Tier Up Guarantee System window has been changed so that you can check it through the unified Enhancement UI.
- The Boss Defeat Mileage payment can be received by using the Full Menu UI’s Boss Mileage menu or by setting the Boss Mileage item in the Maple Scheduler’s Boss Contents.
- The Maple Scheduler icon has been removed. You can use the Maple Scheduler through the Full Menu UI or the Quick Menu.
A unified Checklist window has been added.
- If there were any notifications that you did not check, you can check them through this unified Checklist window.
- The following notifications can be checked through the unified Checklist window.
- Security-related notifications such as Red PC.
- Artifact stat expiry, Artifact Mission completion rewards.
- Achievement Refresh, Achievement rewards.
- Notes, guild notices, Maple Cabinet, Meso Market trade completions.
- Monster Collection exploration rewards, Union Coin rewards.
- MapleStory M Mileage rewards, PC Room Login rewards, Daily Gift rewards.
When buddies, guild members, or alliance members log in, a notification window will no longer appear. It will only be displayed in the chat window.


The invite/request notification windows have been improved to make it easier to click the accept/reject buttons.
Shortcut Key Settings UI Improvements
Shortcut keys’ category classifications and each category’s colours have been changed.
A Shortcut Key Category Filter feature has been added.
- You can check shortcut keys and sort them by shortcut key category through the menu on the middle right.
- When you apply a filter, already registered shortcut keys will also be displayed. If you click on a shortcut key that has already been registered, you can check the location where the shortcut key is registered on the keyboard above.
When you click on a registered shortcut key image then click on a shortcut key registered in a different location, the two shortcut keys will now be swapped.
A button that opens the Skill UI has been added.
Quick Move System Reorganization
The Quick Move has been reorganized into the Town Menu.
- All towns will now provide the same features.

The afterimage pierces through the targeted enemy and after attacking, if there are nearby attackable enemies, it will bounce to them and attack the enemies in their paths. After attacking all of the attackable enemies within range, it will target the enemy furthest from itself.
If there is only 1 attackable enemy, after attacking that enemy, it will bounce of the air and attack again, with the number of afterimage attack activations reduced by 1.

First of all, we apologize for the changes that didn’t meet our players’ expectations during this UI reorganization work.
Some of the UI reorganization work reflected this time were implemented incorrectly different from our intentions, and we reconfirmed the need for additional reorganizations after checking players’ opinions after the update.
The additional changes implemented today are some of the content that we can update quickly, and we will continue to make changes to the UI area so that both players who are familiar with the existing UI and players who are new to MapleStory can both have an enjoyable experience.

Hi Max, does the ring swapping mean that Weapon Jump can swap to Continuous / RoR and vice versa?
It’s not to swap rings but to swap polishing levels, you need to have both level 4+ rings already and at least one of them must be level 5 or higher. e.g. you have a level 5 Continuous and level 4 ROR, you can pay 2b to swap them and have a level 4 Continuous and Level 5 ROR.
You can’t do something like just swap a Continuous you have for a ROR you don’t have.
“You can now use up to 5 Mineral, Herb, and Crafting Material bags.”
Does that means the total bag we can use is 15? Or still same as before, 5 total bag.
