Frozen Afrien.png

The next patch for the Heroes of Maple update will be coming out on December 3 and it has hit the test servers today! It includes parts of the first Act of the Heroes of Maple blockbuster as well as many skill changes and a few other things.

Blockbuster – Heroes of Maple

Black MageSix HeroesFreud and Afrien

The Heroes of Maple <Act 1 – Slumbering Dragon Island> will be revealed soon.

  • <Heroes of Maple> is the second blockbuster content which follows <Black Heaven>. The six heroes gather after hundreds of years to save Maple World once more, and the commander Damien’s story will be told as well.
  • Act 1’s background will be the asleep Afrien. It will showcase new visual and play elements.
  • Level 33 and higher characters can participate. You can enter by using the icon on the left side of your screen or through the Dimensional Mirror.
  • In the test server, you cannot enter. You can play in the official update on December 3.

Heroes of Maple Acts

The Heroes of Maple blockbuster will have 4 acts. Looks like the first one will take place in the Crystal Cave and then you’ll take Crystal Garden to the later areas?

Frozen AfrienSnowy Village

Here are two maps which are part of the blockbuster, the first is Afrien (on the Slumbering Dragon Island?) and the second is a village in a snowy area.

They also added a lot of NPCs and illustrations in the data so I’ll show you guys them. Here’s Aran.

Here’s Evan, he actually has the most haha. So cute!

Afrien and Mir also received illustrations.

Freud will appear in this blockbuster as well.

Mercedes has a new hairstyle to match her new illustration, I wonder if they’ll be updating her creation like Aran and Evan?

Phantom and Luminous did not have any illustrations in the data but they had new NPCs. All of the Hero NPCs look like they could be regular characters wearing special equipment, maybe this Blockbuster will be a roleplay-dungeon (like Hayato/Kanna/Ayame?).

EunWol got a new hairstyle too!

In addition to the Heroes, Lilin and Nineheart will appear in this blockbuster.

Continuing the story of Root Abyss and the World Tree, the Transcendent of Life Alicia will appear! I think she is in the hands of Damien since he killed Shinsoo after Alicia went to Ereb to regain her powers.

Speaking of which, Demon’s brother and one of the Black Mage’s commanders, Damien will probably be the main villain in this blockbuster! He got a snazzy new look.

And finally, here’s a really cool showdown between Aran and Damien.

New skills and skill changes have been added for some of the Heroes. (see below for skill changes)

The Heroes will now receive the Hero’s Emblem after their 3rd and 4th job advancements.

  • (Lev. 60) Silver Hero’s’ Emblem
  • (Lev. 100) Gold Hero’s’ Emblem

The Heroes’ creation illustrations and buttons have been changed.

Skill voiceovers have been added for Aran, Evan, and Mercedes. You can listen to them here (thanks to Spadow!).

Job Balancing

After the previous job balancing, we have examined play patterns and user opinions. Using this information, we will once again try to further our job balancing gradually. Through smaller changes, we expect that it will be easier to achieve better balance. Our goals are:

  • Low battle efficiency jobs’ boost and high jobs’ reduction
    • Adjustments will be made based on a job’s special characteristics without impacting overall fun.
    • Jobs with lower advancements that have difficulty hunting will be adjusted as well.
  • Change summon’s damage to character-based damage
    • Since it is very difficult to understand the damage your summons will do because they follow a different formula, we will changing all of them to use your character’s formula.
    • Only Soul Weapon summons will continue to use the old formula.
  • Certain active buffs changed to passive
    • Some buff skills will be changed into passive skills so their utility is increased slightly.
    • Hyper buff skills’ cast delays have been adjusted.
  • Maximum damage increasing buffs adjustments
    • All jobs with skills that increased maximum damage limit will be changed to % increases. Certain skills for certain jobs will remain as fixed values.
    • Epic Adventure, Glory of Guardians, Heroes’ Oath, Will of Liberty, and Queen of Tomorrow’s cast actions have been removed.
  • Skill descriptions and other error fixes
    • Errors where certain skills would ignore monsters’ attack nullification skills have been fixed.
    • Errors where certain physical skills would be affected by monsters’ magic nullification skills have been fixed.

It’s here! The hype is real! And it looks so awesome!

    • I don't remember what other name I used
      December 1, 2015 at 10:24 am

More skills become passive: GG phantom 😦
Canon buster attack boost and Hyper stealing: Aaaand welcome back!
*looks closely at stealable hypers, and the fact that the awesome final judgement has left us*
GG again :\ Seriously, at least let me take cannoneer’s rainbows…

My main, wild hunter, loves this update though 😀
Silent rampage was waaayy too slow activating, and while I’m personally of the opinion that the wings look way too amazing to ever turn off, I’m happy to see the option.

Then, in terms of others, nexon clearly hates explorer-theifs, since there’s still barely any reason to choose bandit over duel blade, and Night lord is worthless next to night walker.
More of mercedes’ buffs need to be passive, but asside from that I really like her update, I’m glad to see an attempt to make cannoneer relevent again, that’s one awesome character, finally, night walker is now totally worthless against an enemy with element resist. 😦

Also happy about voiceovers for heroes

      • Dark Evan
        November 27, 2015 at 10:23 pm

Yeah! I always wanted Evan, Aran, Mercedes, Phantom, and Shade to possess voice overs.
        Especially Evan.
Hope they get dubs in GMS! 😀
        But I’m a bit miffed.
I already perfected a boss arena Emblems Potential, more or less…
But since its not merely a “Heroic Emblem”, but each hero gets their own design, I’m going to have to switch :S just like i stopped using my rare Timeless Prelude a few weeks ago bc I decided to cube my already epic, 2l 5matk (Evo), Dragon Master’s Legacy, cause it’s Evan’s signature secondary, and cause it shouldn’t be sitting on a mule.
Unfortunately, it hit 15% matk in the process of getting it to leg. So now i have to waste cubes trying to get all my epic gear to unique (4 leg, 1 unique,)… instead of cubing this decent weapon to something even better…
I NEED that new Evan gear, to go with the new eyes/hair…
PLS let there be a CS special 😀

They increased Dragon Master’s Cooldown, but gave dark fog a reason to be on cooldown like the other mage ultis, and a few minor buffs here and there, like to our Magic Debris, it’s damage has been boosted quite a bit, and it gets boosted further when DF is on cooldown.
A slight nerf to Summon Onyx Dragon’s overall power, for the unfunded (it won’t make a difference really) but it now hits 2 lines, so the dps for the funded is increased by 50m

        • November 28, 2015 at 7:51 am

Ya, imma switch to a new emblem to, sadly I cubed my other emblem to unique already tho, but it wont stop me.

Valhalla: now while this buff is active Raging Blow will be enhanced to 109% damage 9 times with the last 2 attacks as critical hits.

^ Do you mean BY 109%? Confused as to how 215% x7 can get enhanced to 109%x 9, lol.

      • Smh
        November 27, 2015 at 6:45 pm

Your skill description says ‘enhanced TO 109%’ which is not enhancing but decreasing. But judging from your reaction i’ll take it it’s supposed to say ‘enhanced BY 109%’

        • Max
          November 27, 2015 at 7:53 pm

“MP 300 consumed, for 30 seconds you cannot be knocked back by any attacks.
50% critical rate, 100% resistance to statuses and elements.
Raging Blow will be enhanced to 109% damage 9 times, the last 2 attacks will be critical hits.
          Cooldown: 210 seconds.”
The 로 right after “109% damage” means ‘to’ so I’m not sure, the description might just be worded really badly.

    • thrakkes, Hero GMS
      November 27, 2015 at 11:33 am

Yeah I am confused as well =/ If he means BY 109%, then its a nice buff. Or else it is an useless change. Look at my comment at bottom completely. Only nice buffs I see are 50% more critical rate and not being knockbacked. But if it also means we will do a lot lower damage in exchange of these new effects, then I might consider not using the hyper skill after change… I prefer the old Cry Valhalla.

    • Anonymous
      November 29, 2015 at 2:15 pm

Weird… What’s Raging Blow currently at in KMS without enrage?

I wonder if the knockback thing means it works on vellum and mag, not sure where else it would be useful, but then again its only 30 seconds..

      • Max
        November 29, 2015 at 2:23 pm

Raging Blow (normal): 268% x 5, last hit critical
Raging Blow (Enrage): 215% x 7, last 2 hits critical
Raging Blow (Enrage, this Tespia patch): 167 x 9, last 2 hits critical

And since Heroes already have 100% Stance, I’m pretty sure it will apply to those types of knockbacks that Stance doesn’t protect from!

What the hell is a cast action? Max, what does this mean 😐

    • Anonymous
      November 26, 2015 at 9:41 pm

There’s no character animation when the skill is cast. You know how sometimes your character holds out their weapon when they buff and you can’t move? That’s removed from those skills.

    • Max
      November 30, 2015 at 2:29 pm

Yeah the person above is correct. A cast action is what your character does when you cast a skill, whether its swing the weapon or hold their hands out or whatever. The Hyper buffs no longer have that so you just need to press it and it will instantly be casted.

  17. November 26, 2015 at 9:46 pm

    WOO!

Just to clarify, will all characters be able to enter? Or just heroes? It’ll be cool to find out if, when it’s released completely, if you use a hero character, your character replaces one of the six. That could lead to so many different playthroughs you could do.

Plus, it’s Damien! I’m going to level up my Demon Slayer so I can see the confrontation between the two brothers!

    • Max
      November 26, 2015 at 9:54 pm

Yeah everyone will be able to enter but I don’t know yet if you’ll play as your own character or as one of the Heroes.

      • November 27, 2015 at 12:25 am

It’ll be interesting to see what they do. Nexon has shown that they like to add class-unique dialogue, and with a hero-centric blockbuster they almost have to have unique dialogue. Unless they’re making it an RP-style dungeon, but that’s more JMS’s forte.

        Whew, I’m excited.

Not a nerf, stop abusing the word nerf just because you see the word decrease. It’s honestly sad how little you people understand the mechanics of this game. Drk got an overall boost for bossing this patch, who cares about training. If you’re level 210 training doesnt mean shit anymore, it’s all about bossing. If you’re under 190 or 200 then hurry your ass up.

Dude really? DK’s got a decent semi-buff overall. You don’t know what a nerf is, please refer to Aran’s last second changes after the revamp and compare them to Aran’s pre-revamp skills, then you will see what a nerf actually is.

Oh no we got changes to our useless summon that actually make it stronger, cast decrease for thirst, and 15 more seconds of invincibility to pummel bosses to the ground (we’re top 10 DPS & DPM) what a horrible nerf, RIP indeed.

      /sarcasm

      • Some Faggot
        November 28, 2015 at 11:52 pm

Yeah, I’ve misread it. To be fair though, no one summons the beholden to attack and I can guarantee they still won’t after this patch so that’s worthless and the invincibility comes at a cost of a nearly doubled cooldown.

  24. Anonymous
    November 27, 2015 at 1:33 am

and then nexon proceed to nerf Evan again …. like it’s not hard enough to manage all this micromanagement on every fk cooldown right now.

Raging Blow: enhanced Raging Blow while in Enrage state’s damage has been decreased from 215% to 167% and its number of hits has been increased from 7 to 9

Hi max. First of all let me say thanks so much! this is the greatest thing ever.
this website gives me joy (and also pain) because of nerfs to come.
My question is : does the viper changes to Fist Enrage are known? because I’m confused about the whole deal. last couple updates it said to get 2 more lines of 250% dmg. Now it says the dmg of the skill it self it decreased in dmg but more lines. does that mean we dont get extra 2 lines from natilius ?How does that work and how much dmg will decrease? Its really a question if to main it or to leave it. If you could answer me that would be so helpful 🙂 Thanks alot!

Hey Max, idk if you know. But The new change of Hero Cry Valhalla. The change with raging blow as new effect will apply on the skill without using Enrage or its with Enrage and it gains extra 109%, so passing from 167 to 275 (167+109%) ?? This is not very clear honestly.
If it means we do lower damage to have a higher % critical rate and 100% status resistance, then I see it like a nerf. I want description be more accurate if possible. Thank you!
Honestly, I don’t feel like we should change Cry Valhalla, I still want my +50 W.attack, +100% status resistance and that 90 sec cooldown.

    November 27, 2015 at 11:26 am

And instead of changing Cry Valhalla, reconsider the Enrage nerf done after fixing Critical Damage, nerf which decrease damage boost from 60 to 25%. Maybe rereaise it to like 35% and unchance Cry Valhalla? I have calculated we do better DPS as Hero even with Enrage being at 25%, only if we have a good %critical rate and critical damage buffs (buffs and passive skills) and potential.

      November 27, 2015 at 12:12 pm

A last option I think it could be, add 9 lines of 109% to Raging Blow to the current lines, so 167% x 9 (x10 with hyper skill) plus 109 x 9, so 19 lines. Extra 2 lines from Advanced Final Attack proc. So if Max wants mean that, then maybe reword Cry Valhalla description to say ”Raging Blow will be enhanced by adding 109% damage 9 times with the last 2 attacks as critical hits” instead of ” Raging Blow will be enhanced to 109% damage 9 times with the last 2 attacks as critical hits”.

If I am wrong, then it is a nerf. If not, then a great improvement especially for a capped Hero.

”When resetting your Ability, your lock settings will now be saved between resets.”

What does this mean? You can save you inner abilities and change to old ones at will?

    • Max
      November 27, 2015 at 1:17 pm

No, like when you reset your Ability you can choose to lock your rank/lines. Before this change, your locked lines and stuff would reset after you reset your ability so you’d have to select them again but now they won’t, its just a QOL change.

Nice on Phantom’s new lvl 150 Hyper, but last time I remember the Cannoneer was also an explorer class and I dont see Buckshot on the stolen skill list, will it be un-stealable by Phantoms?

    • GAME
      November 28, 2015 at 9:31 pm

yes, because if it was stealable (idk if that’s a real word haha) then phantom’s would be the most broken class ever. Imagine. the hps a 6 lined mille aiguilles capped phantom. Even if there was a cd on it, it’s just too much.

      • Anonymous
        November 28, 2015 at 10:11 pm

i’m pretty sure that’s not even the most broken part, if you did manage to steal buck shot your cards would triple up, making a really destroyed system, especially since the extra lines would practically give you 100% card chance if you didn’t already get 100% crit rate

these luminous update is the most useless thing i ever heard
i wish they give luminous a bossing skill you can’t stay on equilibrium mode forever and the worst part is that gms luminous is so bad 3 min cooldown? really? and kms still have that old style zz

Why don’t they change Chilling Step so it doesn’t activate damage reflect?

I’m in a dilemma when choosing either luminous(MSEA ver) or Bam as my main.
The MSEA ver of lumi has slightly longer Equilibrium time but 300% damage for reflection and has a smaller spread range. With all of the recent updates, I’m can’t make up my mind on which to main. I really enjoy both classes though. Pls giveeme some advice thanks!

Does it mean it doesn’t ignore Cancel WA anymore and it can hit through Reflect Magic?

      November 29, 2015 at 7:27 pm

I feel it’s the opposite. With this change to all the lines and the cap damage raising hypers, I can’t help but feel we’re in for either a damage cap raise, or change to the way damage is dealt in general. Most of the classes haven’t really changed all that much from the reboot balance patches too drastically. And the only thing “overpowered”, at least in GMS, is these awful p2w items that nexon just keeps throwing at us. permanent, 12 slot hearts? right after an event where they give out prime scrolls. Yeah, that’s not going to be duped and widely circulated or anything… The classes are getting brought to even footing, and I like that my paladin, while still definitely below other classes, is significantly less ass than he was a year ago.

I’m kinda confused wether or not the other post about the job balancing apply or this is the official one? So does the other Rebalance patches apply? + the updated versions or no?

    • Max
      November 30, 2015 at 11:42 am

You’re gonna have to be more specific lol. All the finalized changes are in KMS patches which usually combine various KMST patches before it. This is the newest set of job changes and has not been added to the official server yet.

        November 30, 2015 at 11:36 pm

By like all the other patches example for Xenons http://m.imgur.com/a/23WGT
Are all these updated skill changes already apply? Or every new post is something different which excludes this? Basically saying
Are all these skill changes already happen and there fixing it more? Or they test it then basically pick which ones to fix.

        • Max
          December 2, 2015 at 12:55 pm

If it was a KMS post then it has been added to the official servers. If it was a KMST post, check for the next KMS patch after that to see which of the changes get added to the official server. At the time of this post, this is the latest KMST patch and there’s no KMS patch to officially add these changes.

Hey , I would like to ask Cannoneer’s Hyper Skill cannot be stolen by phantom ? Isn’t it actually a explorer class . Also , I heard from someone that if you steal a skill for HyperSkill , you won’t be able to use your fourth job stolen skill , is that true ?

    • Max
      November 30, 2015 at 11:39 am

Yeah you can’t steal Cannon Shooter’s Hyper, it doesn’t have any Phantom specific values in the data.
I don’t think so, that would make the Hyper skill useless because I’m pretty sure everyone would choose a 4th job skill over these Hypers with increased CDs lol.

      • Anonymous
        November 30, 2015 at 2:49 pm

You can use stolen 4th job skills. You can only hold one stolen hyper at a time so maybe that’s why they thought 4th job skills couldn’t be used I suppose. Flip the coin+arrow platter. Still the best. I am hoping they change the values a bit more for the hypers in official patch, because it’s very silly that most of these hypers are basically unusable in this current state.

I’m a bit late, but I wanted full confirmation for everything this time:
1.) This change of Damage cap hypers seems cool, but to what effect? Does it influence the use of certain skills that have a higher damage cap than average, say Sniper, to go from a 5mil boost to a 7mil? If so, this may be a huge beneficial change!
2.) Bahamut, and now Ifrit, both get an effect if they attack now. Does this mean in the near future, they will finally give Elquines the ability to cast Frozen stacks? That be nice. It’s almost christmas Nexon. That’d be really nice. Plz.
3.) This change on the buffs is necessary. When they lowered the duration of Magic guard in Reboot, it caused many problems- now, being On/off, it won’t be a problem- except that you can say that I/L mages now have 5 of those skills. Iron body being a passive is a nice nerf to Phantoms, and less casting time for warriors. In other classes, many of them were getting too many buffs to work with, 5-6 for several classes, including DB, DAv, DW, Phantom, Mercedes, Xenon, Lumi, and Kaiser. Less time buffing, more time hitting. I like.
4.) Phantom, is getting a change that for a long time, people have wanted, feared, laughed, etc. Copying Hypers from other classes. But they get massive cooldowns. All the same, I think most people will just go with Flip the coin for a damage cap boost, or Sacrosanctity for invincibility+buff duration, despite the glaring 600 second cooldown.
5.) Mihile- most people missed this one, but its Install hyper got a buff- 4 hits. per 0.8 secs, that’s how fast? Someone give me a comparison, I’d like to know. And then we get 8-point assault, or technically, 4-point with 2 hits per point. Yay.

I think there’s a mistake with hero’s Valhalla hyper… damage after using Valhalla is 109%? And the same 9 hits as enraged but lower damage (Enraged is 167%)? And the duration of skill is the same 30 secs? Gosh if that’s true I feel they hurt hero’s hyper more than helped it…

    Hello, I’ve some questions :

1- Wind Archer lost -50% elemental with reboot patch, and now “+25% final damage” then it’s a compensation? and 25% final damage = 10M/line and with 25% FD = 12,5M?

2- Any information about the “boss reward change”? I see some pieces to trade for equip (Cra/empress..), but I can’t find any information/video to check, 100% drop rate for piece? instanced? 1/run, 2/run … 5/run?

3- Any information about 5th job? or just fake/troll, I can see “soon” on maplewiki since .. 3years maybe o.O

4- Someone know any rank Lpm (Line per minute max/min) because the DPM rank is realy useless, the cap damage is realy easy now, then only the Line per min is realy important. (I’m Wind archer and I’ve 17-18arrows/s I think and Wild Hunter … 45+? 😉 )

Thanks guys, and thanks for the great blog!
