KMS ver. 1.2.249 – Heroes of Maple: UNVEIL!
The second patch of the Heroes of Maple update, titled UNVEIL, has been released! This includes Act 1 of the new Heroes of Maple blockbuster, job balancing, the new Monster Collection system and a few other game changes.
In a interview with the new director of MapleStory, they confirmed that a new Resistance warrior job will be added in December! I wonder if it will be Damien haha.
Here’s the promotional video for this patch! There’s also a special mini-site that Nexon created where you can watch the other videos, download special artwork and backgrounds, and see information about the story of the Heroes of Maple.
Blockbuster – Heroes of Maple
The Heroes of Maple <Act 1 – Slumbering Dragon Island> has been added.
- <Heroes of Maple> is the second blockbuster content which follows <Black Heaven>. The six heroes gather after hundreds of years to save Maple World once more, and the commander Damien’s story will be told as well.
- In the Heroes of Maple blockbuster, you will play as the six Heroes of Maple World. You can freely swap between them as you play.
- Act 1’s background will be the asleep Afrien in the snowy Slumbering Dragon Island. It will showcase new visual and play elements.
- Level 33 and higher characters can participate but it is recommended for users level 120 and higher. You can enter by using the icon on the left side of your screen or through the Dimensional Mirror.
- You can play the Heroes of Maple Acts in any order. After clearing an Act, you can reset it to play it again. However, you can only reset them once per week.
The Heroes of Maple rewards have been added.

The Heroes of Maple blockbuster will have 4 Acts (and a half, since there will be an Act 1.5). Only Act 1 was released in this patch.
Here are two maps from Act 1 of this blockbuster, the first is the Demon army preparing to fight on Slumbering Dragon Island and the second is Afrien, after being captured by Damien inside his cave.
In this Act, it featured Evan (and Mir), Aran, and EunWol investigating the disturbance on Slumbering Dragon Island.
Lilin, who was also on the island with her penguins, was captured by the Demon army.
Afrien had been attacked by Damien and used the last of his energy to share Freud’s message to Evan.
Damien, the Black Mage’s commander and Demon’s brother, will be the main villain of this blockbuster.
Alicia, the Transcendent of Life of Maple World, has been captured by Damien after he attacked Ereb and killed Shinsoo.
And finally, here’s a really cool showdown between Aran and Damien.
You can watch my entire playthrough of Act 1 on YouTube!
Mercedes, Phantom, and Luminous did not appear in Act 1 but their illustrations were added in the data so here they are!

Job Balancing
After the previous job balancing, we have examined play patterns and user opinions. Using this information, we will once again try to further our job balancing gradually. Through smaller changes, we expect that it will be easier to achieve better balance. Our goals are:
- Low battle efficiency jobs’ boost and high jobs’ reduction
- Adjustments will be made based on a job’s special characteristics without impacting overall fun.
- Jobs with lower advancements that have difficulty hunting will be adjusted as well.
- Change summon’s damage to character-based damage
- Since it is very difficult to understand the damage your summons will do because they follow a different formula, we will changing all of them to use your character’s formula.
- Only Soul Weapon summons will continue to use the old formula.
- Certain active buffs changed to passive
- Some buff skills will be changed into passive skills so their utility is increased slightly.
- Hyper buff skills’ cast delays have been adjusted.
- Maximum damage increasing buffs adjustments
- All jobs with skills that increased maximum damage limit will be changed to % increases. Certain skills for certain jobs will remain as fixed values.
- Epic Adventure, Glory of Guardians, Heroes’ Oath, Will of Liberty, and Queen of Tomorrow’s cast actions have been removed.
- Skill descriptions and other error fixes
- Errors where certain skills would ignore monsters’ attack nullification skills have been fixed.
- Errors where certain physical skills would be affected by monsters’ magic nullification skills have been fixed.

Combo Force: cast delay when used with the down arrow key has been decreased, now consumes 1 Combo Counter when used with the down arrow key
Shout: regular Shout and Shout when used with the down arrow key have been switched.
- Shout deals 200% damage 6 times on up to 10 enemies in a large range. If used with the down arrow key, Shout will deal 200% damage 3 times in a narrow range and will stun enemies for 6 seconds. If a boss is hit with this, they will receive a debuff that increases the chance to inflict a status on them by 100%. Cooldown: 10 seconds.

Finally, the Spiegelmann’s Slumbering Dragon Island Expedition event has begun and will run until December 21.
By starting the quest in the Heroes icon, you can move to Spiegelmann’s base camp, which is where your expedition will start.
At the top of your screen, you’ll see the Survival Gauge Bar which shows:
- Days: how many days you’ve been exploring (1 day passes every 3 minutes)
- Temperature: how cold you are (you can craft items to warm yourself up)
- Hydration: how hydrated you are (you can craft water to drink)
- Hunger: how hungry you are
The goal of Spiegelmann’s Slumbering Dragon Island Expedition is to survive as long as possible in the frigid environment without death caused by cold, dehydration, or starvation. You have to collect materials and make items which can be used to keep those three bars from going down completely.
Sometimes you’ll come across coastal areas where you can fish. However, you have craft a Fishing Chair before you can use it.
After you sit on your Fishing Chair, a window will come up, allowing you to choose which bait you would like to use. These will also have to be collected beforehand.
When you get a bite, use the left and right arrow keys to move the fish into the designated zone then press the down key to reel it in. Do this enough times and you’ll catch it!
As you explore Slumbering Dragon Island’s treacherous environments, sometimes you’ll find snow drifts that you can damage to get food and various tools.
But watch out! There are rampant blizzards which can freeze your character for a short amount of time, rapidly decreasing your temperature. Press the down key and crouch to avoid them before they hit you.
By combining the items you collect as you explore the island, you can make food, water, and other tools to help you survive.
Sometimes, you’ll find mountainous areas which you can scale by choosing the correct set of portals. Here you’ll find even better items you can use to survive.
Icy areas require you to climb up while avoiding falling rocks. You can also find good items here.
You might even find yourself underground, where good items can be acquired as well.
At the end of your expedition (either if you die or you use the SOS symbol from Spiegelmann), you’ll receive experience, mesos, and Heroes Coins based on the amount of days you survived. You can only collect 60 coins per day from this (not including those given from completing missions).
There are 6 missions given by Spiegella which you can complete for further prizes. These can be completed once per world.
- Survive 10 days – Slumbering Dragon Island Explorer title (5 all stats, 500 HP and MP)
- Successfully catch 5 or more Slumbering Dragon Island Special Salmon – 50 Heroes Coins
- Find the Herb of Eternal Youth in the deepest part of Slumbering Dragon Island – 50 Heroes Coins
- Find 10 or more Hero’s Traces – 50 Heroes Coins
- Defeat the Freezer at the peak of Slumbering Dragon Island – 50 Heroes Coins
- Find the source of the strange noises inside the cave – 50 Heroes Coins
If you can survive for 500 days in total over all of your characters in a single world, you’ll receive the Master Slumbering Dragon Island Explorer title (50 all stats, 30 attack and magic attack, 30% boss damage, 30% defense ignore, 2000 HP and MP, stats will expire in 30 days).
Here’s a video of me going on an expedition! I couldn’t fish very well so I ended up starving haha.
F-first

No…
I’m straight, thank you..
Dang, I’m going to have my hands full during Heroes of Maple.
New Haircut, new Face, new Clothes, getting a full stack of them boxes with the Dragon Master’s Proof emblazoned on them, getting a full stack of them coins with the Dragon Master’s Proof Embossed on them, getting that Evan Emoticon, and that Heroes of Heroes Title, and that Now I’m a Hero Medal, and anything else that i forgot to list that tickles my fancy.
Same with me, i’m likely going to wear the old Evan NX though, but I’ll prob buy the new one anyways, just to have it
na ur a fag bro plz dont ever visit this site again
@chros
Mercedes is such a beaut :’)
that poster 😀
so the rest of the heroes don’t get a major reavmp like aran and evan?
Nope, only slight changes.
thats pretty lame 😦
THAT POSTER OH MY GOD.
Under the zero skill changes, I think you write ‘xenon’ instead of ‘zero’.
Wrote*, sorry, my mistake.
Fixed, thanks 🙂
For the Hero NX Equip bundles, can you just buy the equips separately or you have to buy the entire package?
For the Heroes of Maple packages, can you buy the equips separately or do you have to buy the entire package?
You gotta buy the entire package.
Holy cow dragon strike hits 12 times now XD
I hate what they’ve done with dragon strike.
Oh man, turtle island is fucking brutal. I either run out of food or water after like 10 days. The mesos are so good though!
STOP NERFING BATTLE MAGE 😦
I wonder how EunWol joined them into the battle despite being rejected hardly by Phantom & Luminous
The thing is, this is only Act 1. Note that how they include ONLY Aran and Evan. Aran has amnesia, and Evan does not know much about EunWol anyway. So we have to see what Nexon does for the later Acts…..
So Aran hasn’t get back her all of her memories then, wow…
That sounds funny. I guess EunWol just htiches on for the ride and no one cares.
Have to wait for translations then. I guess what you say about the no one cares….is right.
What does Evan emoticon do anywaysÉ
?*
It’s like Evan’s head in a chat bubble on your head and when you use an emote (F1~F7) it will also do the emote lol.
Oh, well now I want this update even more, I would be somewhat both Evans with that lol
What are the new item drops for the new boss
What new boss?
in the kms trailer it showed a cut scene of the boss
Just wondering if the end gear items like faf, tyrant, sweet water, gollux will still be the same in the kms server as of now
Can someone explain to me how the ” maximum damage limit boost has been changed from an increase of 5,000,000 to a 10% increase, cast action has been removed” works? Is it based on the attack multiplier or your max damage with the multiplier? For instance my aran hits 50mil per line so w/ the buff it’ll be 55mil per line?
Yeah so before it would give +5,000,000 to the cap but now it will give +10% (which is actually the same bonus of 5,000,000 for most classes but some classes have extra cap increases so they stack better I guess).
Unlike Black Heaven, this time (act 1, at least) you play a role as the three heroes (Evan, Aran, EunWol).
I hope there’s at least one act (or the last act) that allows every character to join in the battle and have different dialogues like how Black Heaven was. :v
P.S. warning, heavy snowing effect lag lol
I actually didn’t lag at all, I think the skeleton animation system improved performance a lot :O
Damn Demon Slayer will be invincible while casting Metamorphosis? o.O Does it mean no one can hurt him?
Yeah but only when you initially cast the skill, not for its entire duration or anything.
Hey Max, under game related in the KMST post it said “If you log off and re-login while an experience coupon is active, it will no longer disappear. However, if you die, it is the same as before and the experience coupon will disappear.” but it’s not listed here. Did they not add that or did you forget? ):
Its not in the patch notes for the official patch, so they must have removed it for some reason.
Entirely gone? Because this patch is coming up soon in GMS, and if the feature is gone… ouch…
Yeahhhh
Apperently, despite being two people of opposite genders, Zero uses masculine pronouns. Huh.
Btw a new job for resistance huh….wow.
I wonder where Max got the information that they are making a new warrior resistance class.
It’s from an interview on Maple Inven with the new director of MapleStory. They will also be updating the Auction House system but that’s not as interesting 😛
Resistance already have enough of warrior class :v (hi demon)
Also might adding in Demon? I saw the mini site that Demon will appear….
Demon will definitely show up in a later Act. I added his illustrations to the post earlier today 🙂
hey max, if you play as a hero/demon, what are the changes to the story?
You don’t actually play as your own character (at least in Act 1), you take the role of Evan/Aran/EunWol, so there’s no special dialogue or anything because everyone gets the same thing.
but if you play as your character Evan/Aran/EunWol, would it be the same? (set skills, level, etc)
I think it would be the same whether or not you are an Evan/Aran/EunWol, because it gives you the ability to freely switch between them and there’s a specific set of skills you can use. I’m uploading a video of Act 1 right now so you can watch it to clarify what I mean soon!
Isnt gigas slash 180% * 10 without hyper ? Since when did it get buffed to 280%? :O Can anyone confirm this?
oh btw, max, can I know what’s the Poll from the mini-site said? the one with Evan and Damien
It’s asking if the voters are rooting for evan or damien.
Max, unrelated to the post (technically) but do you happen to know if the Air Swing bug with Aran is still around? I had access to a friend’s account for KMST and it was impossible to do Beyonder because if you held an arrow (any at all) the skill wouldn’t come out, and would instead do the overhead swing and shove you in a direction.
I’m not sure, I don’t think I had that issue when I played it?
Max are you sure the new resistance is a warrior? I read that interview yesterday at all I saw was just “new resistance job”. I don’t want another warrior, I want a proper thief ;_;
http://www.inven.co.kr/webzine/news/?news=147502
“또한, 12월 중에는 신규 직업이 추가될 예정이다. 레지스탕스의 새로운 전사 직업이 추가된다고 보면 된다.”
In addition, in December a new job will be added. A new warrior Resistance job will be added.
Three warrior Resistance classes, meanwhile Xenon doesn’t even have Will of Liberty. This new class better be mind-explodingly amazing or I will be sad.
A couple of things:
1. Way to go Nexon. No Frozen stacks on Elquinies yet.
2. Finally, they changed it so that Evan dragon armor and Mechs pieces drop from all monsters- a huge change. Though, I do wonder if that applies to higher up equipment, such as the Abyss, Fearless, and Timeless pieces, will be dropped as well as the lower level ones. If not, what was the point?
3. I finally got to see that Shade Hyper buff in action- it looks good.
4. New class? I wonder what shenanigans they’ll give it. Maybe a Warrior class using a magic weapon of some sort and m. att? Or with Knuckles? I dunno. Honestly want a thief or Bowsman right about now- too many warriors, mages are plentiful, and Pirates, well, are just pirates. Jms is going to be doing Ayame sometime soon(some people are estimating the Spring of 2016)
5. Epic poster is epic. Except for Shade, who needs his coffee.
I don’t know what type of warrior class it will be, but I am pretty much open to anything. However, I wonder why they are making another resistance class of Demon Slayer is considered to be the Resistance warrior..
Personally I wish that they would make a theirGa or bowman class for the Nova classes since its been way too long since they added anything to Pantheon.
On the other hand I am not sure if this is a bad translation given google translates tendency to jumble words around, but the director stated that they would be releasing “new jobs” during December..I am not going to count my chickens before they hatch given the translation program, but it would be awesome if we got more than one new job during this patch.
what this guy said! it’s been forever since they put up pantheon updates and touched Nova classes (buster). Hopefully after this blockbuster, Nexon will make a blockbuster or storyline for new Nova’s, either thief, mage or archer, and still no thoughts or idea of a 3rd branch Archer?! I still don’t understand why resistance needs another warrior branch or w/e.
Yeah, we definitely need an update to Pantheon as a whole. Classwise, we could use another archer, thief, or even a Pantheon mage(though with Kinesis being released just a few months ago, I doubt it.) I’d also consider a new form of Kaiser that uses other two-handed weapons, or Improvement to the old one to add that functionality. Why? In the room with the Interdimesional portal, you can see figure resembling Kaiser wielding other weapons- A Spear, some sort of Polearm, an Axe, some Blunt Weapon, and a Cane or Staff of sorts. I personally believe if we do get an Archer Class, or thief, we will get a Kaiser that can wield those weapons, but with slightly different skills, similar to how Demon Avenger, you choose Demon, then you choose the type.
That might be the window of opportunity for those versions of Pantheon heroes. But, sadly, this is a Resistance class. Maybe it won’t be Demon though- It could be the Beryl class finally, or an actual resistance class following the story. Ima hoping it wields only two-handed Axes and Blunts, there isn’t enough use for them, and I don’t feel ok with them making another new weapon for a new class…(I get it, they don’t want you to be fully prepared for it, and it gets you money by making people having to cube them, but still, it gets annoying when you are farming for equips when you are trying to get something and then you get everything but the thing you were looking for.)
Also one more thing: what is the use of these items?
Hero Catcher Kit
Mercedes’ Lip Gloss
Aran’s Energy Drink
Phantom’s Hand Cream
Luminous’ Hairspray
Evan’s Potatoes
EunWol’s Espresso
They give +300 to different personality traits, I think the Hero Kit probably gives +300 to all of them or something but I haven’t gotten it yet so I’m not sure.
For Battlemage’ Master of Death skill, “in addition to existing effects Master of Death now reduces Death’s reactivation cooldown by 0.5 seconds each time a Dark element attack (other than Death) hits an enemy”. Is this a passive effect ? if this is not, i would see that this patch is a nerf to Battlemage. what can 30 secs with a 200 cooldown + reduce blow hit line do .. sad ..
It’s not passive.
This sucks, I love Battle Mage…but they keep nerfing it for no reason. 😦
This is my understanding about the new hyper for Battle Mages, Max. Number of lines on finisher added changed from +2 to +1 and the cooldown increased from 120 to 200 while the duration from 40 to 30 seconds.
However “Death’s reactivation cooldown reduced by 0.5 seconds each time a Dark element hits”, so the reactivation cooldown for Death can be dropped from its current 5 seconds at 4th job to 0 seconds and Death can be continuously summoned every second for the duration of the hyper skill, am I interpreting this right?
Yeah while the skill is active, if Death activates then you have to hit enemies with 10 dark element attacks to activate Death again without having to wait the entire cooldown, then you have to hit 10 attacks again, repeat until the buff expires.
so basically thats how the hyper will work for training!
but what about against single targets, like bosses?
Same way? Hit the boss with 10 dark element attacks
is finishing blow a dark element attack?
No, and I think that they made it that way on purpose, for few reasons.
1. Finishing Blow would have its damage decreased on Bosses with high resist.
2. Too many lines.
3. Each one of those skills that has had the change done to them takes up more time to use than if you were to use finishing blow over and over. In other words, compensation for time while using skills that do less damage to bosses. Buffing up the lesser. Check the notes, that’s what they said they would do.
On the plus side, in cases where the bosses make you move(Magnus, ChaosRA, KmsZakum, etc.) or have plenty of Mobs to push around(Arkhaim, Horntail, etc) the effect has a lot of use on paper, and can help give more lines now. A nice buff, if executed well.
Looks good, I wonder if those NX packages would allow those weapons to cover over all weapons no matter the job class?
I would get the luminous one since thats my 2nd fave class.
Also does any of them make the player hover when standing?
Yeah all of the weapons cover all weapon types, and they actually all make you hover if you wear the full sets haha.
Thank you for the feedback, I know now that I will get the Luminous set.
Are the cash shop costumes for the heroes permanent?
All Cash Shop equipment in KMS is permanent.
Hey Max, do you happen to know if you must complete the goals for the turtle island expedition in one go? Like, surviving all 10 days at once, or catching all 5 special fish at once? I’m pretty sure i’ve caught 5 of the special fish using the shrimp, but I don’t think it was all in one game. Only one that shows as complete for me is the spiegelmann-in-cave strange noise one. Which makes me a bit sad cause that title would be real nice to have.
Yeah you do, and I think you also have to use the SOS thing to return to the base camp to turn them in because I ended up surviving 11 days but then I died without going back and I couldn’t complete the quest that required you to survive 10 days >_<
Ahah. I thought that might have been the case. Thanks.
Also, funny bug, if you go all the way through the caves (No exit in the final map so you have to use the SOS signaler), if you talk to spigelmann he restores your heat. Which makes no sense. Especially since you have to SOS out which restores your heat anyway
One more question I guess. Do you happen to know what item I need to climb to the peak of the mountain? I made several of those hand/pocket warmer cubes because I figured those would be it, but no dice. I can get to the deep forest, and the caves, but never the peak of the mountain.
Are the nx hero packages in the reboot server and permanent?
I’m pretty sure they are, and all Cash equipment in KMS is permanent.
ok thx
so glad Nexon is incorporating elements into the game again… it was really just Evan’s fog that used to do Dark damage lol
just give Mihile light damage now
when is xenon getting a revamp, there last nerf i lost like half of my damage.
Hey Max, so now since they have emblems for heroes. How can you get them if you are not making a new one? Like do they come from quests or shop do you know ?
You’ll get a quest either through the icon or a lightbulb on top of your head 🙂
Thanks! I was like no I’m not making a new Evan !!
So what was the final damage on aran’s beyond blade?
285% x 5, 300% x 5, 315% x 5 with +6% damage for each less monster hit, with 100% critical rate and 30% defense ignore.

Can you put 1-4th job skills on phantom’s new hyper skill?
So nexon is nerfing Eunwol’s main bossing skill to the ground?
Do newly created hero class got new looks than before or not? Since the illustrations have changed.
when will I this be out in GMS? Really want that Aran costume!
so jett isn’t a class anymore? why is there no patch updates for jett?
YOU SONS OF BITCHES NEXON!!! why the hell did you put a 10 sec cooldown on Bucc´s Dragon Strike?! and to top it all off you lower the damage to the ground!!! you cannot do that to one of buccs main skills, do it to the Hyper skill if you want but please for the love of God dont touch dragon strike. FK U NEXON
Why is it that its recommended to do it at 120 or higher?
Does your range affect it?

I think you forgot to include that Trinity – Extra Strike had its damage raised from 650 to 720%. You mentioned it on your KMST post, so I think you just forgot to copy paste it over here 🙂

I think that was a change that was removed when it was added to KMS. I’m looking on Insoya’s skill tables (http://www.insoya.com/bbs/_v.php?id=maple_skill&no=369813) which are continuously updated and it lists it as 650% still.
Well, you mentioned that it was changed back to 650% from 720% later, so it must have been 720% to begin with 🙂

Oh that’s true, I just looked back at the patch notes and it was included there so I don’t know why I skipped it. I’ll add it in, thanks!
Just wondering, is the story thing like a series of mission you go through and can you play it Co-Op? Or is it like a single player experience?

Single player, it’s a blockbuster just like Black Heaven.
