KMS ver. 1.2.302 – MapleStory: Black Mage – Labyrinth!

WorldSelect 1.2.302.gif

The third patch of the MapleStory: Black Mage update has been released! Labyrinth includes a new set of 5th job skills for every job as well as the second area of Tenebris, the Labyrinth of Suffering. Deep inside, you can even fight the newly reborn Commander True Hilla!

Here’s the Maple Update Info Centre video for this patch.

Tenebris Expedition

NOTE: A lot of this information in this section is repeated from my last post. I did this because the new ranks/rewards/unlocked skills/etc are an addition to the existing stuff so it makes it clearer this way. I highlighted the specifically new information in green if you just want to see it.

Alliance Rank

The Alliance rank has a total of 13 ranks: Warrior, Guardian I~IV, Hero I~IV, and Legend I~IV.

The Alliance Rank: Hero has been now been unlocked. The highest rank that can be achieved during this patch will be Hero IV.

You can speak to Nineheart at the Outpost to increase your Alliance rank by giving him Alliance Medals. As your rank increases, you’ll be able to access new Alliance skills and Alliance Supply Shop items.

  • Warrior → Guardian I: 300 Alliance Medals
  • Guardian I → Guardian II: 150 Alliance Medals
  • Guardian II → Guardian III: 150 Alliance Medals
  • Guardian III → Guardian IV: 600 Alliance Medals
  • Guardian IV → Hero 1: 600 Alliance Medals
  • Hero 1 → Hero 2: 300 Alliance Medals
  • Hero 2 → Hero 3: 450 Alliance Medals
  • Hero 3 → Hero 4: 1200 Alliance Medals

All of these systems (Alliance rank/skills/supply shop) will only be available until the Black Mage is defeated.

When you reach certain ranks, you’ll receive special prizes from the Empress. You can only receive these items once per world.

Alliance Skills

Alliance Skills are skills that increase your characters’ stats and help in your adventures. The Legend tab’s skills have now been unveiled.

The Alliance skills are separated into [Content Skills], [Ability Skills], and [Goddess Statue Skills]. Based on the type of skill, the methods of acquiring them and levelling them up are different.

  • Content Skills: when your Alliance rank is increased, you will automatically unlock these skills, which you can then level up using skill points given based on your rank.
  • Ability Skills: when your Alliance rank is increased, you can talk to Grendel to automatically learn and level up these skills.
  • Goddess Statue Skills: when the Journey of Destiny progresses past a certain stage and each Goddess Statue is completed, you can talk to Grendel to automatically learn these skills.

Based on your current Alliance rank, you can talk to Grendel at the Outpost to acquire skill points and Ability skills. Certain Content Skills will require previous skills to reach a certain level. You can see these required relationships in the Alliance Skill UI.

Alliance Skills can be reset once per day for each rank. The skills that can be learned are as follows.

  • By talking the Helena, you can learn the Flame Bird’s Summon skill.
  • You can right click the Flame Bird’s Summon skill while in a map with monsters around your level range to summon it.
  • While the Flame Bird is summoned, defeated monsters will drop Flame Bird’s Desire.
  • When you acquire the Flame Bird’s Desire, you will gain 30 Desire and the Flame Bird’s aura and experience will be increased.
  • When the Flame Bird’s aura reaches a certain stage, you can use the skill key again to ride the Flame Bird and defeat monsters. However, you cannot use certain skills while riding on it.
  • When the Flame Bird’s experience reaches certain amounts, it will grow up to 4 stages. Its flight time, number of monsters hit, and flight speed will be increased for each stage.
  • If you have already collected your daily limit of Desire, you can no longer summon the Flame Bird.
  • The Flame Bird cannot be summoned in certain areas, including Tenebris.

The Defense Mission: Twilight’s War has been added. It will run from July 19 to August 8.

  • Twilight’s War is a mission where 2~4 characters join forces to defeat enemies using cannons and protect the castle walls.
  • While in a party, the party leader can speak to Mike to enter.
  • When the mission begins, the party will share a base score of 1200 points (400 points per wall with 3 walls).
  • If you defeat a monster, you will receive a certain number of points that is shared with all party members.
  • The mission will end when the last boss monster, Giant Omen, is defeated or when all three walls are destroyed.
  • If you leave while there are still walls up, you will not receive any points.
  • At the end of the mission, you will get Desire based on the number of points you earned.
  • Based on your total accumulated points, your cannons’ rank will increase over 4 stages. Higher rank cannons will have higher damage and explosion range.
  • You can acquire up to 10,000 points per day in Twilight’s War.
  • You can re-enter Twilight’s War after 5 minutes.
  • If you have already collected your daily limit of Desire, you will no longer gain Desire but you can increase your total cumulative points.

Fallen Warrior

The Change in Maple World: Strike has begun.

  • While hunting Elite Monsters, fallen warriors will appear and attack you.
  • 30 fallen warriors will be summoned at the same time and they give a high amount of experience as well as a certain amount of Desire.
  • If you cannot defeat all of them within the time limit, the remaining fallen warriors will disappear.
  • If you have already collected your daily limit of Desire, defeated fallen warriors will not drop Desire.

Desire Harrier

The Change in Maple World: Desire Harrier will begin after the Journey of Destiny progresses past a certain stage.

  • When you use a Rune or Bait, the Desire Harrier will appear.
  • The Desire Harrier will fly around your character and every time it is hit (up to a certain amount), it will drop Desire.
  • If you cannot defeat the Desire Harrier within the time limit, it will disappear.
  • If you have already collected your daily limit of Desire, it will no longer appear.

Labyrinth of Suffering

NOTE: You can no longer enter Moonbridge. The Expedition Mission: Moonbridge can no longer be completed.

Tenebris’ 2nd area, the Labyrinth of Suffering, has been added. You can access it through the portal in the Maple Alliance Outpost. It is only available for users that are level 200 or higher and have completed the 5th job advancement.

Based on the world’s progress of the Journey of Destiny, Tenebris’ story will proceed gradually. As you can see above, the area’s maps will be revealed over time, so you’ll have to work together and collect enough Desire to unlock everything. However, you cannot enter regions from previous stages.

In the Tenebris area’s maps, up to 10 characters can enter the same instance of a map. The monsters will be individually assigned, so you will only be able to see and hunt your own monsters. However, Elite Bosses will appear for all characters, but will not summon any Elite Monsters and the Bonus Stage will not apply. Elite Monsters and Elite Bosses that appear in the Tenebris area will have stats proportional to the map’s monsters’ stats, based on the average level of the characters in the map.

In the Tenebris area’s maps, you cannot create parties, but all party buff skills will be automatically shared with other characters.

In the Tenebris area’s maps, unlike regular maps, there will be no Runes, flowers/veins, or Burning Fields and no items will be dropped. However, you will be able to gain a lot of additional experience from various exclusive gimmicks.

In the Tenebris area’s maps, you will have a 1 hour time limit and after that time is up, you will no longer gain any experience from monsters. The time limit will reset every day at midnight.

Labyrinth.png

After the Labyrinth of Suffering story quests are completed past a certain stage, the area will change into a Dungeon with constantly changing paths. Every time you enter, the maps will change.

You can enter the dungeon in a party of 1 or more people. When you enter, you will each have 3 Soul Stones. If you die inside the labyrinth, one Soul Stone will be consumed and you will be revived. If you use up all of your Soul Stones, you will eventually fail to explore the dungeon.

When you enter the dungeon, you and your party members will be scattered among unknown locations. You must wander through the labyrinth and complete various missions. To move to the next area, you must clear your missions. If you happen to encounter a party member in the labyrinth, you can complete your missions together.

To escape the dungeon, you must find the place where the Labyrinth’s Nucleus is located. At the end of the Labyrinth, if you sacrifice your party’s Soul Stones to the Candle Altar and reveal all of the candles, you will be able to destroy the Nucleus.

thanks for your hard work Max. It’s just aran, eunwol, and kaiser I think, unless I’m missing.

Yeah it’s pretty annoying. Mine only took about 45 minutes though! For the golems one, you really have to be vigilant as they spawn one at a time (then split after you kill them) so you should try to kill them ASAP.

the shadower skill receives a buff or nerf…? The duration becomes so…. sorry now. Cant they just give us at least as long as dark knight’s pierce cyclone? So unimpressive compared to other jobs

    • Anonymous
      July 19, 2018 at 5:47 pm

its a little buff, more damage and shorter casting time, now the only thing they should do is make u invinceble wile using it or either fix the knockback

      • Anonymous
        July 22, 2018 at 8:00 am

I’m glad its a little buff… but for a burst skill with cd90, 2.5 sec burst makes it bad. I mean they have a chance to make it shine like dual blade’s burst. But instead they decide to be stingy and give 2.5 sec… and nerf eviscerate to 14 sec. Pls make this class shine for once dammit!! A burst skill is a right move, just have to make it shine!!

Wind Archer now have 400% Max HP

  11. Anonymous
    July 19, 2018 at 7:36 am

For True Hilla’s patterns, here’s what I discerned so far about her patterns through various videos:

    1. Her main gimmick are the strings that appear from her hands. When hit by the strings:
    – Potions are disabled.
    – You are momentarily stunned.
    – One of your death counters get disabled (Noted by the skulls turning pink.)

    2. The above also applies to her blue Mana Burst-esque skill. (Not actually sure if it disables death counters, it may be that people got hit by the strings while being bound by the attack). This attack does 10% max HP damage with the blue souls, and another 10% damage + super KB with her scythe.

    3. Whenever a death counter is disabled, candles in the background will be lit. When all the candles are lit in the background, an altar will spawn. Rapidly tapping Space on these altars (I assume NPC chat button) will replenish your disabled death counters. Using the altars also weakens True Hilla for 5 seconds. If True Hilla touches the altar, it disappears and you must wait for another altar to spawn. The number of candles depends on the number of party members, with 3 candles at 1 person to 15 candles at 6 people.

    4. When the hourglass in the background runs out, True Hilla will do her full map attack (The one where she swings her scythe). This attack doesn’t kill, but causes you to lose all death counters; i.e., if you have 3 death counters disabled, you’ll lose those 3 lives.

There are other attacks too but this is her main gimmick with disabling life counters.

    • Max

The White Mage illustration is from a flashback showing some of his past, before he turned into the Black Mage. Arkarium and Orchid have not shown up yet, maybe when more story quests are unlocked!

Hey Max, I heard there’s some class specific dialogue in the questlines, at least in the second area that just opened up. I’m wondering if you could say how much class specific dialogue there is? Like, is it only a few sentences, or is it a lot? I was really hoping these endgame storylines would have class specific dialogue, so I’m curious.

    • Max
      July 27, 2018 at 1:32 pm

I think so far only Demon and Zero have had special dialogue in the Labyrinth. When Hilla reveals herself, she says that Zero should have joined them when they had the chance/she calls Demon a traitor and asks if he wants to see his brother again.

If you mean does she drop arcane stuff, no, she didn’t on tespia.
All she is supposed to drop (No one beat her to my knowledge) is her necklace according to extractions. But, that’s in line with “normal” mode of other bosses, lucid, will, damien, suu, Maybe if a “hilla hard mode” gets released when they turn this expedition to beat the black mage into a blockbuster, they’ll add arcane stuff to her.

    • Max
      July 27, 2018 at 1:33 pm

It seems the only special thing she drops is the Root of Suffering pendant but they might add some other stuff when she actually becomes available.
