KMST ver. 1.2.186 – Huge Skill Changes and UI Reorganization!

April 12, 2025 63 comments

Following up on the March update that surprised everyone with the Star Force reorganization, Director Changseop has followed it up with another huge off season patch (and a Maple Now stream like usual). This time, it was a full skill balancing that changes all classes to 2 minute cycles and updating most of the game’s UIs! It also includes the Maple Home system (KMS’ version of the overseas My Home system) which I’ve been asking for for so many years and a big update to the MVP system.

This patch will be coming to the official server next week which could bring some additional changes. It starts off the MapleStory 22nd anniversary: Maple University, and I’ll cover that event in the next post.

KMS ver. 1.2.395- Tomb of the Gods, Tallahart & Skill Balancing!

September 12, 2024 39 comments

The second Fall update has been released to the official servers. This patch contains the level 290 area Tallahart, as well as very drastic skill balancing (with some additional changes from the test server) and various QoL improvements!

Next month, we’re going to get Asmos Canyon, which we don’t know much about. In the Milestone showcase, they said it would be a new type of system that rewards enhancement items equivalent to mesos or something like that, which is pretty vague.

KMST ver. 1.2.178 – Tallahart & the Long Awaited Balance Patch!

September 9, 2024 50 comments

Last Wednesday, the test server was updated with the new level 290 area Tallaheart and much more importantly, the first real balance patch since before New Age, which was way back in June 2023, so it’s been almost 1.5 years! (if you don’t include 6th job and the new Mastery Cores) Changseop also did a Maple Now stream talking about their plans for balance going forward.

I saw that some people were wondering why my post was later than it usually is, and it’s actually because my apartment got flooded the day after the patch 😭 Woke up excited about the Wind Breaker buffs and then a city pipe burst… Thankfully not too much was ruined but I still can’t go home until they fix it, so I’ve just been working on this in pieces in my free time on my laptop. Anyways, life goes on, they add more QoL, a new high level area people will complain is too high level, Bishop support gets nerfed… wait what?!

KMS ver. 1.2.392 – MapleStory Milestone: Flowers Blooming in the Moonlight!

June 22, 2024 67 comments

The first patch of the summer update, Milestone, has been released, featuring the Flowers Blooming in the Moonlight: Aran & Eunwol Remaster. It also contains various game system changes and improvements, as well as the main summer event One Page in Memory, themed around the pasts of the Black Mage’s commanders.

In other news, many of you might have heard about Steve (x3TheAran59) and Kobe (iSIingGunz)’s account issues. While I am lucky enough to still be able to play, depending on what response they get, that might change. If I’m no longer able to play the game with my friends, it really would have a huge effect on my motivation going forward, and I may choose to quit as well. And if I do that, I think I would probably no longer be doing any of this either (i.e. translating KMS updates and writing this blog). It would feel really weird to continue to translate updates for a version that I would not be playing. Nothing confirmed either way yet but I just wanted to share my brief thoughts for now.

KMST ver. 1.2.174 – Remaster Updates & Game Changes

June 14, 2024 29 comments

The second test world patch has been released, with further changes to the Aran & Eunwol remasters as well as a bunch of game system changes and improvements. Unfortunately it seems like most Aran and Eunwol players are still dissatisfied and with only one more week until the live server release, it doesn’t seem like there’s much possibility that it can be made significantly better by then…

Meanwhile, for regular servers, the new Additional Potential reset system is really expensive and they added way more expensive Bonus Rewards for Epic Dungeons which is of course making regular server players mad too.
